Bo feels someone's lips on her and she smiles.
She loves waking up in Lauren's bed.
It's big and the sheets on it are soft and they smell just like the blonde. And waking up in this bed usually means she wakes up with one of those awesome aches that remind her of recent activities.
It's an all round awesome feeling really.
She sinks even further into the bed and the owner of the kissing lips chuckles, "I know you're awake." She whispers directly into Bo's ears and the brunette smiles, still not opening her eyes.
"Come on." She feels a nose rubbing on her cheek and she turns softly to find brown smiling eyes looking directly at her. "There she is." Lauren says fondly.
Bo blinks sleep lazily out of her eyes. "Morning."
"Afternoon actually. It's past twelve."
"What can I say." Bo streches like a cat. Feeling that ache she loves so much, "you wore me out."
"I wore you out?" Lauren asks with arched brows.
Bo shrugs. What can she say, she tries giving as good as she got.
Suddenly, Bo's phone vibrates and Lauren seems to recall something. "Uh, Kenzi called. She said you should hurry home before your birthday breakfast rots." Her eyes seem sad and insecure. "I didn't know it was your birthday."
Bo wants to hit herself.
She really does.
She meant to tell her. But then it had been a week since they'd seen each other and last night Lauren opened the door is sexy purple lingerie and Bo forgot all cohrent thoughts.
She probably wouldn't have told you her own middle name had you asked.
"I'm sorry. I really wanted to tell you. It just skipped my mind."
Lauren nods understandingly and leans down, pressing a chaste minty kiss on Bo's lips then on second thought, deepens it. "Happy birthday." She whispers. Placing one last peck on her before getting off the bed.
Without even thinking about it, Bo holds her hand to stop her movements.
Lauren looks at her, questions clear in her eyes.
Crap, now Bo feels nervous. "Um," she swallows hard, "do you maybe-do you maybe want to come with?"
"To your birthday breakfast?"
Bo nods, smiling a bit at the hopefulness in Lauren's voice. "It's nothing big. Just pancakes and juice and bacon and Kenzi's awful coffee and sometimes Trick gets cake."
"Are you sure. It sounds like a family affair."
Bo wants to say Lauren is family but she doesn't want to scare her away so she just kisses her hand and tells her she's sure.
...
Lauren does this thing when she's nervous where she laces all her fingers together and does circles and circles with her thumb.
She's been doing it non-stop since they left the house and Bo has tried everything from jokes to kisses to make her less nervous and it has worked a bit.
But just a bit and just a bit is hardly enough.
"Hey," she graps Lauren's fingers in her hands, halting her movements. "It's going to be okay. I promise. Just dont, under any circumstances, point out that Kenzi's pancakes aren't round. That's a sure recipe to disaster."
It gets her a small laugh from Lauren and it makes her smile.
It's her main job, calming Lauren's fears and everything seeing as she's going to marry the entire hell out of her.
She's just practicing early.
"Okay." Lauren nods finally. Putting up false confidence and taking the brownies she insisted on making. "Let's do this."
...
"BoBo! You're here." Kenzi yells happily when she opens the door, then her smile falls when she sees Lauren. "And you brought a guest."
"Yes." Bo says casting her a look as they walk in.
In Kenzi's defense, the girl has been trying with Lauren. She's been nicer and more welcoming. But Lauren made Bo late for her Annual Birthday Breakfast and that makes her a bad guy in Kenzi's books.
At least for today.
"Hello Kenzi." Lauren says politely.
"Hi." Kenzi answers shortly. Shutting the door with more force than intended.
"Where should I place these?" Lauren asks nonchalantly.
Kenzi arches a brow in suspicion. "What are those?"
"Brownies."
The transformation in Kenzi's facial features is nothing short of incredible.
"I'll just take those." She takes the brownies from Lauren. "You're our guest, no need to tire yourself out. Bo," she looks at the brunette sternly, "don't just stand there. Get our lovely guest a seat."
Then she walks away whispering sweet things to the brownies.
Lauren just stands there. All false innocence and put on obliviousness.
A smile breaks through Bo's lips.
"You totally knew that would happen, didn't you?"
Lauren just shrugs.
And Bo swears she feels herself fall in love.
...
The Annual Birthday Breakfast is a huge, huge success.
Lauren sheds her work persona and becomes that charming self that she hides away just for Bo. She helps Kenzi cook and she indulges Trick by talking about topics that interest the old man.
And by that I mean mytholgy and succubae and wolves and other things Bo has no interest in knowing.
Once or twice she catches Bo staring at her and she smiles, all gentle and fond and mouths a 'happy birthday' to Bo who just looks away and blushes.
...
After hours and after Kenzi has made Lauren and Bo play any and all birthday games known to man, Bo says it's time they went home.
"Come back, okay? And if you bring more baked goodies with you that'll be cool too." Kenzi says as a form of farewell and Lauren promises that she will.
"You're going to be forever in Kenzi's good books now, you know that, right?"
"I better be, those were a lot of brownies."
Bo throws her head back in a laugh. She's in love with someone who can out wit one of the wittiest people she knows.
She's still laughing when she catches Lauren looking at her with a soft look. "What?" She asks around a laugh.
"Do you have any other plans for tonight?"
"No. Did you have something in mind?"
"Yes. But we'll have to make a detour at the store to get some things. If you don't mind."
"Nope."
She doesn't mind at all.
...
It's an hour before they get back home, sharing the load they came with from the grocery store.
"It might get a little messy so I'm gonna get us something to cook in. T. Shirt sound okay?" Lauren pops her head into the kitchen to ask.
Bo, who's unpacking their bags just nods.
Lauren is back a few minutes later, wearing only a black T. Shirt with 'nerd' written in bold at the middle. She gives Bo one of a naked woman.
"What?" She chuckles at the brunette's raised eye brow, "art is art."
Bo rolls her eyes and gets out of her dress. Smirking when Lauren's breath audibly hitches at her nakedness. She lets it pool at her feet and puts on the Tee, smiling when she finds Lauren right in front of her after she's done.
"Why Mrs. Lewis. How on earth did you get all the way-" she doesn't get to finish her sentence because Lauren is already kissing her.
...
She does the chopping while Lauren does the cooking as they retell parts of the day and laugh as if they haven't been together the whole time.
"Taste this." Lauren brings a spoon with sauce to Bo's mouth. "Good?" She asks after a few seconds.
Bo nods. "So good."
"Are you sure? It doesn't need more- anything?"
Bo kisses her.
One because she can.
Two, because it's the easiest and best way to answer her question.
Lauren's blinking lazily when Bo pulls away. "You're right," she says finally. "So good."
...
At some point Lauren puts music.
French music that sounds like sex in words.
She keeps whispering the lyrics into Bo's ear and it makes the brunette want to take her right here in this kitchen, appropriate or not.
It's really by powers she didn't know even existed that she holds herself back.
Lauren serves the food as Bo sets the table
She feels hands snake around her waist as she sets Lauren's place. "Dance with me."
It's a request that she fufils easily.
She knows the song that's playing. She's heard it before.
La vie en Rose.
She laughs when Lauren twirls her around and smiles when the blonde holds her by the waist, swaying them around.
"This has been the best birthday ever. Thank you." She says sincerely.
Lauren arches a brow. "What do you mean, has been. Honey, the night has just begun."
Never before has Bo heard a sentence hold so much promise.
