Chapter 3:-

Scott watched as the Alpha closed in on him, his eyes glowing a rich red in stead of the usual (to him anyway) blue. What the hell happened between Alexis in the woods and now that had changed Derek's attitude. He was somewhat bearable before, okay he was still a douche, but not the point and now it seems as if he's high from the power he's gained from having Erica and Isaac.

The Alpha caught him off guard by slamming his head against Scott's, temporarily stunning him before Scott cried out feeling claws against his torso. It was at the same time that the two froze at hearing a familiar shriek of fear:

"Scott!" she called out and Derek seemed to straighten, but still shifted in his Beta form. Scott was hunched, his head still somewhat throbbing as he clutched his wounded side. There she stood, in the middle of the room not very far from them. Her eyes were shiny and her face contorted into one of fear and deep worry. Unlike the other night where she had been wearing the trousers and top combo, tonight it was a silken night dress. It looked like the ones she would only wear in summer because everything else she own was literally the trousers or shorts with a top to bed. It had lace round the top hem and straps and travelled down to just above the knee. She looked innocent in that.

"Alex..." he tried to smile in relief, but he was honestly scared for Derek, feeling the regret and shame practically roll off him for causing that look on her face.

"Do something to tell me you're here! please," she was trying to not cry and Scott felt his brows scrunched together in concern as he stood marginally straighter,

"Alex?" Scott asked and then realized something by staring at her glowing blue eyes; it wasn't often he saw them like that, but he understood that her power was doing what it could for them. They could see her, and she couldn't see them. The previous night made sense.

He saw as Derek took a few steps towards her and the rage rose rapidly within him, "Don't go near her!" he roared protectively and Derek was fast to spin round, lowering his body as wolf roared in kind before Derek jumped him. Scott tried to prevent the fall to the icy floor, grabbing from the machine Boyd was sat in, his claws marring the metal surface before he fell to the ground, the air rushing out of him and pain filling his body. He's surprised he didn't crack a rib.

Automatically Derek was off him as the young beta curled round and spat out the blood. He heard a gasp escape her lips as she ran over, "Scott!" she called out again, kneeling before him and he felt a smile tug at his lips, she could see him...

"Hey." he wheezed as his hand rose to try and grasp her arm, but it literally fell through her. Like a ghost, it was creepy. He felt disappointment fill him from the realization. She still couldn't see him.

"Who's doing this? Is it the shifter problems? Scott please be okay, get Derek if you can. He'll help you, I know he will. Just... Oh God please be okay." And both wolves stiffened. Scott couldn't help but laugh.

"She doesn't even fucking know," he gasped out and pulled himself up to look at Derek. The Alpha now looking like Derek, but his face showing an emotion Scott couldn't recognize, "She doesn't know that I'm hurt because of you!" Derek took a few steps back and Scott could see shame in the Alpha's eyes. He knew he was right. If Alexis was here, she would be disgusted with Derek. Mind you, if Alexis was here: would he still be doing this?

"Rachel?" And Alexis was up again, spinning round to look at the rolled to the side and coughed once more, blood speckling the ice and he brought his hand to it.

"What are you doing Scott?" Derek asked and watched as Scott tried to smudge the blood. He knew it was disgusting, using his blood to try and tell her what was happening, but he had to. She wasn't here so she wouldn't know...

"Scott?" he heard her ask and he knew he had her attention as he tried to make a 'D', "Oh God, not yet I don't know anything yet! Scott, just... just get Derek! Please!" and then she disappeared, much like she had done from before. Scott growled in frustration, but it was half a scream as he smudged his work and fell back. What good would it do if he told her anyway? It would probably break her heart...

"W-was that her?" he heard Erica ask and Scott's brows knotted in confusion,

"You were with Nurse Grant?" Isaac asked and Scott had to look up to see Derek's back as he made his way over to his betas.

"You told them about her?" Scott asked and Derek stopped, turning to face the younger wolf before silently nodding.

"I tell them everything, Scott." even how he's trying to create a family like she asked. To help those who needed it. Hell he was trying to train Scott, but the young wolf was battling him at every turn! This, what happened here had to be a lesson. Even if Scott didn't understand, he hoped that if she were here: She would...

"Stop it." she said snapping him from his thoughts, he had her wrapped in his arms and he was savouring every moment of this,

"Stop what?"

"Feeling guilty." he knew she wasn't usual her power on him, he could usually sense it, but then again she could near off read him like a book. He felt his brows rise at the comment as his lips pressed tightly into a small pout.

"It's kinda hard when I'm the reason you're going." He grumbled and was about to walk away, not wanting that talk about it any more when she had her arms around his waist and held him tightly, he hesitantly wrapped his arms around her body before resting his head against hers and relaxing his body. He inhaled her scent, knowing that everything is going to smell like this. Hell even some of his clothes will. Last night she had stolen one of his shirts to wear, unknowingly mingling their scents, but the wolf didn't feel the need to claim like it usually would. The wolf was whining, scratching at the doors and wanting to be comforted.

"If I hear you say that again, or even think it I'm going to kick your alpha ass, this isn't your fault you big oaf," she said making him chuckle, his shoulders shaking at the thought of her kicking his ass. She pulled back, her eyes glittering with adoration that had him melt, he didn't deserve her in his life, "You are strong Derek. You can protect Scott and you can create a new pack. Create a family for yourself and people who need it," He didn't get it. He didn't get how she believed in him so much. He knew she was always like this, even back in high school. Even the night of the fire when she arrived to look after a young Stiles at the station...

The Sheriff, or deputy at the time, looked exhausted as he hugged her. Derek didn't notice it at the time, but the older man seemed to relax after hugging her when he pulled back. He didn't even notice the way Laura had stiffened next to him. She must have known.

'Lexis?' Stiles muttered, rubbing his eyes and the teen ran over and picked him up to give the younger Stiles a cuddle,

"Hey little man, you're coming back with me and we're going to play games. Scott's all set up for you." she had a soft smile on her lips and Stiles seemed to wake up immediately.

"Really!? Dad?" Stiles beamed and turned back to the tired Sheriff who nodded with a smile,

"Sure are kid, not too much of the sugar though." he patted the back of his son and that's when Alexis looked to see Derek staring. Her eyes were sad, but she gave him that soft smile before lowering Stiles.

"Go get your stuff little man," she winked before she made her way over to him and Laura. She even lowered herself to a crouch so he would be force to look into her eyes, "Hey," He felt himself relax and even forced a tug at his lips. How could he not when she was looking at him like that. She didn't have pity in her eyes, just concern, "I..." she started but seemed to stop herself before placing a hand on his knee. He was too young to realize it then, but he relaxed a fraction.

"Thanks." he muttered and she nodded before standing up in time for Stiles running through. She even made it to the kid in time to catch him from tripping,

"You klutz," she grinned at the young boys giggles, "Alright, games and ice cream here we come!" she gave him one last smile before leaving.

"She's nice." Laura commented and Derek shrugged,

"We share some classes." his voice monotonous,

"She smells good." Laura had that knowing tone in her voice, but Derek was just not in the mood.

"Anything smells better right now." he almost growled and Laura sighed before pulling him into a hug.

She finally smacked his chest and snapped him from his flash back, "If I find out you're being a douche then you can bet your ass I am coming back just to kick it." She then winked and he laughed a low laugh, trying to not let the memory overwhelm him as he bent down to press his lips to hers. He tried to put his emotions into it, holding her tightly to him. This was about them and he wanted to keep every second of it burned into his memory.

"So why the hell couldn't I see them?" Alexis felt her head fall against the table after Rachel collected her plate. She felt refreshed, but she also felt exhausted and she knew Scott was hurt still, or at least... healing very gradually.

"Alexis, you're not used to astral projecting right now and you're still... coming into your power much like Rachel is," he tried to explain as he made himself a coffee, "I bet if you were to try and project yourself into the School, you would see everyone. Who are Human that is."

"So I can see Human's, but not my charge?" she was sceptical and Mike could see it, but remained calm with his words,

"Maybe we need to try meditating with your power so when you next try, it'll be stronger. At least this time round you could tell where people were." he mentioned and her brows lifted before she smiled.

"True..." she then nodded, her mental blip radar was with her there so that was something.

"So you're improving?" Rachel asked from her position in the kitchen, rubber gloves on her hands, "also, you gonna come dry up?"

"Yeah," Alexis silently thanked Mike before she pushed back in her chair, "Are you able to bring any books where I can learn more about me? Or... Maybe my parents?"

The silence that happened between them made Alexis want to sigh, knowing the answer. After all she was still young and very much alive, for her to know too much could cause problems. Rachel had even paused her movements of washing up, the only noise filling the air was the cars outside and the planes taking off in the distance.

"I can bring some of their old journals for you, maybe," Mike spoke up after what felt like an eternity of silence, "unfortunately I need to speak with them on what is and what is not allowed."

"What does he mean Alexis? I thought they died?" Rachel spoke up from behind and Alexis felt her body tense. She did tell the girl that because it had happened, but not in the conventional way...

"Would you like me to get on that straight away?" Mike then asked, his green eyes connecting with Alexis's in concern. The brunette slowly nodded, "Will do then. I believe you should start the bonding exercises and begin meditating. Together."

"Of course." she nodded and made her way to the kitchen to begin drying.

"Lexis...?" Rachel asked slowly as Mike got his jacket ready to head out.

"How about we dry, make some tea and... We'll talk."

Here's what Alexis knew about her parents:

She lived with them most of her life. It was when she turned roughly fourteen did she properly move in with the McCalls, but until she turned sixteen she would talk with them frequently. There was no denying that as soon as they were in England their accents seemed to change automatically, her father's accent stronger compared to her mother. Then again, her nickname from her father was always something silly like 'Ducky' and even 'Angel'. These days she did chuckle when she thought about it.

She couldn't remember much from actually living with them, just glimpses. She knew that at some point when she was sixteen they actually moved back for a little while, because of her 'behaviour'. Again this was something that was incredibly hazy in her memory. Between sixteen and seventeen she didn't remember much at all, just that it was the year her parents returned because of her and then had to go back to England. It was not long after their return to England that they were in the freak accident, killing them.

She also knew that the freak accident was a 'fix' made because they needed to disappear. Where to? She likes to think it was Heaven, but like a section where the Angels hung out specifically (That may or may not be 'Supernatural' giving her ideas though(Totally Melissa's fault though - Not really)). It was true that she did picture them in the light grey suits and working in offices and... doing Angel stuff... whatever that was, but in reality she was clueless. She had a feeling something happened in her mid-teens that was rather drastic enough for her to have the memory removed (or tucked away in a deep corner of her mind), but the actual chances of that happening were slim to none.

She knew her parents were both Angels and that her mother was a potential. Her father fell in love with her at first site and broke the rules by revealing himself to her and he wasn't even her guardian. At some point she had died and Alexis had a theory that her mother was already pregnant with her when she died because she was a rare birth of Angels. Again: that is Alexis's theory. The reality of her existence will probably remain hidden just in case her 'human' mind has any ideas. Maybe.

What Alexis didn't know about her parents (among many many things) was what category they had fit under. She did know that her father was not a Guardian and he got in trouble, so she was thinking something higher up which would make sense; she kept getting the comments about her potential. So maybe there's more to her because of her father's side? So what about her mother? She didn't remember the woman having any potentials... so what if she was like Deaton? Not an elder that is, but an emissary? or at least the Angel equivalent. Not a guardian, but an advisor!

Alexis realised that being able to express everything to Rachel had been quite releasing for herself. Rachel was even able to help with some theories that could be true. She had questions about being an emissary and after Alexis's gave her the briefest explanation, Rachel just threw her hands in the air saying she was done. Alexis couldn't blame her. There was a lot of information to take in and she was surprised that she was able to retain it herself. She didn't deny it came somewhat easily to her, but she didn't say that to Rachel.

"So why meditation?" Rachel asked from her place opposite Alexis. The two were getting numb butts from sitting on the floor meditating. Well Alexis was able to meditate, but she could feel the frustration from Rachel.

"Well A: help me when astral projecting to Beacon Hills and B: we're trying to unlock your potential," Alexis explained and opened one eye to see Rachel had laid back and staring at the ceiling. Alexis sighed and allowed her shoulders to droop, "and completely bore ourselves into a coma."

She saw a shaking from Rachel at this point as she pulled herself up to look at Alexis, fed up, "I don't even think I'm doing it right."

"Gimme your hands," Alexis held her hands out to her charge who rolled her eyes and took Alexis's, "Now close your eyes and take steady breaths."

"I know the steps." Rachel sighed, but Alexis had a smile on her lips before her eyes shut, the sun-kissed brunette rolled hers before following suite. Alexis's soothing voice talking Rachel through the steps once more. Alexis could feel how Rachel felt about the two doing this again, so she did was she could to push those emotions down to help the younger girl relax. It took it's time, but when it happened Alexis removed her eyes and sat back to smile as Rachel sat there, eyes shut and steady breathing.

Alexis felt a genuine smile tug at her lips as she felt accomplished. That was when the smell of her tea reached her senses and she gingerly stood up, her muscles screaming in protest from the sudden movement and her bum feeling numb.

Mike handed her a cup as soon as she entered the kitchen and naturally: she accepted it. It was tea after all, "You two have been like that for a while, have you had any breaks?" he asked and Alexis felt face scrunch in confusion before she felt her brows fly up into her hairline at seeing he time, "I take it as not, well no matter this is good for Rachel. How long has she actually been meditating then?"

"I'm not sure to be honest, couple hours maybe?" she whispered and leaned out to take a look at her Charge, still in the same position that she left her in, "How has your day been then? Since ours has suddenly disappeared." she smiled softly at Mike's chuckle.

"Successful. Your father has been writing journals for you it seems and he has allowed you to read a couple. There's also a letter from your mother," he explained and Alexis couldn't help but frown at this, "What is it?"

"I don't know. It's just... I know they have been there for me nearly my whole life I just..." she paused before she shook her head, "Never mind, thank you." she forced a smile to her lips before disappearing off before he could object.

"Okay then Isaac, all patched up and ready to go," Alexis smiled as she placed the bandage on the younger boys leg, "and seriously I can help you out better if you pop to the hospital later tonight, I'm on shift all you-"

"N-No! It's fine. Thank you." he forced a small shy smile to her. She could feel the fear rolling off him in waves and she took his hand and sighed,

"Okay, well come to me for anything else Isaac. I won't say. You know I won't." she stared him square in the eye, giving him a knowing look and attempted to relax the fear. It helped as the forced smile turned into a genuine one that crinkled round the eyes, it was small but it was something.

"I know... T-Thank you Nurse Grant." he grabbed his bag and quickly scampered from the room. Alexis sighed and leaned forward onto the bed. When she chose to be the school nurse, what she wasn't expecting was to get so involved with the students. Isaac was a cutie and she was concerned for him each and every time she saw him. He said he was a klutz and hurt himself, she knew better. This time however, was from Lacrosse, but the other times? The broken arm? The time he begged her to not send him to the emergency room for the bruised ribs? How the hell was she supposed to help him outside of what she was doing?

"Nurse Grant?" a voice asked from behind and she spun round to see someone leaning against the door, he looked like a teaching assistant, her age most likely. Apart from his tall, lithe body, the thing that caught her off guard was his strikingly beautiful blue eyes. Familiar almost...

"Hi! yes, sorry," Alexis spoke fast when she realised she was openly ogling, "That's me, long morning." she grinned and he chuckled with a nod as he pushed himself off the door with ease. She noted the dark navy jeans, white shirt and blazer jacket.

"I'm still getting used to it myself, weird being back here after studying here." he opened conversationally and she had to nod in agreement, though most of her memories were hazy and nearly non-existent.

"That it is, what can I do for you?" she leaned against the bed as he rested his hip against her desk. Why were his eyes so familiar?

"Well, I've got this nasty cut and I think I let it get infected," he began as he shrugged out of his jacket, her eyes zoomed in on the bandage on his arm and she was in nurse mode almost immediately, "And I hear you're the best person to- whoa-" she had her hands on his upper arms as she guided him round to sit on the bed.

"Huh?" she realised she just zoned out and felt her cheeks flush as she stepped back, "I'm so sorry! I'm a... total space cadet today..."

"No, it's fine," he chuckled, "Well anyway, I hear you're the person to see for this." he pulled off the bandage with little care and Alexis gasped at seeing it. She silently asked for permission and he held out his arm for her to see. A couple inches down from his wrist was a long, deep cut that was swollen and inflamed, but it was also... dark within the wound and it looked like black blood? 'Why do I feel un-easy?' she silently questioned herself as her fingers feathered over the site of dark protruding veins.

"This looks bads," she whispered and he hummed his agreement, "Okay, I'll see what I can do from here, but you may need to head to the actual hospital." she explained and turned her back on him as she went to grab everything she needed to begin cleaning the wound.

"Oh I don't really do hospitals, I feel like I've seen enough of them." his tone was light, but knowing and it was truly nagging at her as she set up on the chair next to him as she cleaned the area.

"Wish I could say the same, but I see it a lot." she risked a glance at him to see he was looking at her,

"Of course, you're interning." There was the knowing tone within his voice again, small smirk tugging at his lips, his blue eyes glittering in amusement and... fuck is that adoration? Yet... she felt her cheeks flushing. What was going on?

"Y-Yeah." she stuttered and her eyes returned to the wound. She could still feel him watching her as she worked on cleaning his arm up, the more black she removed, she better it was looking. In fact the inflammation was going down too. This wasn't medically possible, she knew this for a fact, not to mention he should not be looking as good as he was... Healthy. As Healthy as he was. He should be pale and sweating, looking worse for wear!

"Everything alright?" he asked and she watched as the cut slowly started to stitch itself together, healing. Like something she had seen from watching shows like 'Heroes'.

"Whoa..." her voice barely audible as clear skin soon formed and if it wasn't for the equipment and evidence next to her, she wouldn't believe the cut was even there, "What the...?"

"They were right, you are good." he said and her brows scrunched tightly together as she looked up as he was bringing his sleeve down. The smirk on his lips and his eyes glittering, almost hypnotising her.

"But that's not..." she whispered before shaking her head and standing up the same time as he did, finding herself nearly flush against him. The brunette yelped and jumped back, but and his arms had gripped her arms to steady her,

"Thank you very much," he spoke genuinely, voice low, "Nurse Grant." he purred her name and she barely controlled the shiver down her spine,

"Alexis..." she whispered and he grinned,

"Alexis..." his voice sounded like silk as he repeated her name and she felt her face flush , "Peter."

And it starts.

Okay let me know what you think! I decided to delve a little into Derek with his POV and what happened before she left. I hope you enjoyed that little snippet into their past. I have this large draft document in my folders of random scenes and chapters from around that time. I'm tempted to post something special for them, but I'm thinking not because I'm mean. :)

Now who do you want to see more of. I'm focussing quite a lot on Alexis and her side of the story at the moment because we've all seen series two right? I hope so anyway ;) BUT! To save it getting boring do you want to see more from anyone else? I've obviously done some in Derek's POV and a wee bit of Scott, I DO have Stiles still in the waterworks, but for next chapter what would you like more of? Or what do you want to learn more about?
Let me know :)
