My little one has a doctor's appointment today so I could only write a little bit. Tomorrow will have a much longer update hopefully! 3 all of my readers 3I do not own Inuyasha but I do own this story. Behind Closed Eyes Confirmation
Time passed slowly for Inuyasha, he felt like it had been years as he sat staring at his phone. His heart was heavy and broken.
'I'm sorry but I can't get to the phone, leave a message so I know you care- tootles!' was all it said.
"Baby, I'm sorry..." he began, "It was a big misunderstanding..." The memory of how she left flashed across his mind. She wouldn't listen to him. "Never mind you wench! You lost something great over not listening! BITCH!" and he hung up.
His anger had boiled to the top, he just needed a reason to attack. She would not embarrass him. He had done the right thing, he ended it and if she could not see that then she was not worth his time. But his heart did not agree with his mind. He was slowly slipping into sadness again, the anger subsiding. Phone in hand again, he dialed her number. It rang over and over until her voice chimed that she was not available and to leave a message. Maybe I should call the office. He looked at the clock on the desk, 1130. More time had passed than he had realized.
"Inuyasha, we need to go over these files to turn them in today," Miroku tried to bring his thoughts to something else, "We should go into the office today. There are things that need to be done."
Inuyasha grumbled and turned around in his chair to face the small window overlooking the front of the house.
"Inuyasha." Miroku held his ground, even raising his voice a little, "You will snap out of it, we have to work." He inhaled deeply, "You have until I return from the kitchen."
Miroku turned and left the office, leaving the door open. He quickly walked into the kitchen and searched for any food that could bring even the slightest bit of comfort to Inuyasha. Ramen! He went to the pantry, retrieve the packages of ramen and went to the stove. Two pots out, boiling water in each. Eggs and noodles in the pots. He cut up a tiny bit of chives and warmed up left over pork slices. Quick comfort food. Noodles in the bowls adorned with sliced pork and boiled eggs. He returned to the office with the food, placing a bowl in front of Inuyasha.
"We can talk about it, or you can eat and we can leave."
"Damn Monk! Drop it!" Inuyasha dug into the food.
Miroku ate in between gathering up the papers and placing them into his briefcase. Inuyasha had finished his bowl first and moved to close the laptop on the desk, packing it away in its case.
"Miroku, do you think Sesshomaru would move me to another department?" He asked his friend, surprising Miroku.
"Actually, I don't think he would listen to you at all."
Inuyasha's reply was a deep growl to shut Miroku up.
"I'm sorry, but you know it's true."
"But you don't have to put me down, I just got out of a relationship."
"You're referring to the one with Kikyo, right?"
The only thing that prevented Inuyasha from jumping across the desk and pounding him across the head was the doorbell. He stood and left the office, Miroku left behind to finish gathering their work materials. The front door opened to reveal a pale skinned woman with jet black hair. Why? She was in a short red and white flowered dress. He sighed, what had he seen in her. Kagome's hair shines in the sun light and her skin glows.
"What is it, Wench?" Inuyasha spoke through clenched teeth.
"Hello Inuyasha, I thought you wouldn't see me after last night," she smirked.
"Well Kikyo, do I ever have a choice?" he asked her grimly, tucking in his button up.
"I have come to tell you something you might want to know." She stepped closer and into the house.
"I highly doubt you have anything that I want. I have to get to work."
"That's not what you said last night," her head held high, "I saw Kagome with Sesshomaru."
He growled, "Right, well we all work for him."
"Oh you poor baby," she opened her arms, "in denial that she would move on so quickly."
"Not this time whore." He stepped out of her reach.
"Fine... but what about if I told you she was in his car and they left from work?" She smirked evilly.
"There's more, isn't there?"
"Yes, but what will you do to know it?"
"Nothing with you... GET OUT!" he screamed, causing her to flinch away.
He watched her face contort and redden. Tears flowed freely from her eyes and she let him see them before turned to leave, her legs carrying her faster than ever. He turned, slammed the door so hard the frame shook, and made his way back to his office.
Phone in hand, he tried again. Her number on speed dial. Ring. Ring. Ring. Leave some love-Tootles!
"Kagome…I…Please talk to me." He sounded defeated. Ending the call, he caught wind of another conversation down the hall.
Miroku was at the end of the call when Inuyasha walked back into the room.
"Yes, I understand... uh huh... tell him now? why me!?" Then the phone clicked and he put it in his pocket.
"What was that about?" Inuyasha asked as he sat back in his chair.
"Well... Sango just called..."
"Is it about Kagome?" He stopped at the desk, reaching for a laptop bag that was not there.
"Yes, it seems the two are meeting for lunch tomorrow so they can go over apartments for Kagome. She wants to have a new place by the end of the week."
"But…" Inuyasha's head dropped, "She won't even listen to me..."
"It seems it is final, I'm sorry."
Miroku saw a flash of fury and quickly moved out of the way. Inuyasha's anger bottle was filled and he needed more room, so he took it out on the desk. Wood splintered, exploding over the room and raining down on the two men. The desk sat in two pieces, papers and supplies all over the room, and his hand dripping blood on the floor. The pain did not help the anger, it only fueled the flames.
With the bloody hand, he took a piece of the desk and threw it. The window shattered, glass glittering in the sun and raining on the bushes below. The desk half fell to pieces one it hit the driveway, worn to its extent. Inuyasha did not stop there, he picked up the chair next. Barely missing Miroku who ducked down to the floor, the chair went through the open door and through the wall. Miroku looked behind him, the chair had broken through three studs in the wall and left the spare room completely visible.
"Inuyasha…" He spoke in a weary tone, "It is time to stop. Go wash your hands free from the wood. I will call someone to come at least cover the window for now."
"YOU DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO BASTARD!" Blood still boiling, he stormed out of the room and to the bathroom, slamming both doors hard enough to break the hinges and the frame.
The two men came together out front of the house. Miroku sat in the idling purple Scion tC car, obviously not willing to let Inuyasha drive in his state of mind. Both in the car buckled, work documents and laptop settled in the back seat, they departed the house on their way to the office.
