"Edward."

"Jasper." I said as I shook his hand. I felt a bit of sadness as I realized our friendship had become such a formal.

"So... How are you nowadays?" he asked.

"I'm good. Just busy with my business... Not actually in touch with anyone." I replied. "How about you?"

"Umm.. Nothing much." he said, "Got engaged recently." he smiled.

And it just felt like someone had stabbed in my stomach.

Why was I feeling like that?

"I just love how she beat you in that coding challenge. Your face was so funny. " he laughed.

"Just a fluke." I said without taking my eyes off my laptop.

"Aah.. Come on! Just accept it, man! First time in nineteen years, you have come across someone who can challenge you. She's good man." he chuckled.

"Shut your mouth and get out!" I snapped.

"Man, she's too good. I like her."

Probably he always had a thing for her.

But why did it matter to me if he was engaged to Bella?

"I... I did that because... I... " It seemed as if she was lost at finding words. "I love you.. I always have..." she sobbed.

What about those words?

Really Edward? I asked myself. Aren't you being irrational now?

It was high time I stopped thinking about her.

For some reasons, she was always exclusive to me in these past few years.

For some reasons, I had liked to believe that she was... mine.

I was the only one allowed to hate her.

I was the only one to have any kind of feelings for her.

But I started to feel numb as the realization hit me hard.

She was not mine, she was... Jasper's.

"I'm happy for you and Bella." I said.

"Hmmm?" he said as he choked on his drink.

What was that?

May be he was surprised to hear that.

May be he thought that I forgave Bella?

"I... I just said I'm happy for you guys." I said.

"Oh! Thank you so much!" he smiled.

His smile held an unknown expression which I failed to decode.
