Author's Note: The 365 Project is an experimental multi-fandom project to write and post at least one short every day for the next year, not including my semi-regular bi-weekly updates. For more details, see the relevent section in my profile. This is The 365 Project, 13 May.

In the immortal words of Samuel L. Clemens... "Persons attempting to find a motive in this narrative will be prosecuted; persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons attempting to find a plot in it will be shot. BY ORDER OF THE AUTHOR."

Disclaimer: Batman, Batman Beyond, and the Justice League all belong to DC, I'm just playing with their characters for personal amusement and no profit... Considering that it's a DCAU and DC Comics crossover, definately non-canon... well, at least until the next Crisis depending on what it brings...

And yes, I have to thank MyklarCure's 'JLAin't' and of course Chris Dee and 'Cat-Tales' for certain degrees of inspiration.

"Common Sense Weakness"

"Superman doesn't wear gloves," The currently active Batman, Terry McGinnis, suddenly observed, stopping in the middle of his exercise run and looking at his own gloved hands.

"Interesting observation," Bruce Wayne remarked from the Cray-III that served as the master computer in the Batcave where he had been observing Terry's training while the first Batman healed from Bane's backbreaker, "What brought that on?"

"Lex Luthor's supposed to be a genius and Superman doesn't wear gloves..." Terry replied, pushing his full-face mask off to reveal the black hair and blue-eyes that had caused some to question his actual relationship with Wayne, "Why has he never tried to get Superman's fingerprints?"

"What?" Wayne frowned at the other Batman's question.

"I'm serious; Lex Luthor's supposed to be a genius, Lois Lane's supposed to be one of the world's best investigative reporters, but no one has ever thought to track down Superman by his fingerprints? He's always touching stuff and no one's ever thought 'hey, Superman picked up that bus - let's dust it for fingerprints'? It's always 'Let's find some Green-K to weaken or kill him', never 'we've got his fingerprints, we can track him down and have his bank account closed, his credit cards canceled, his apartment condemned, his car stolen, all kinds of things to keep him busy and away from our operations'."

"Like you said, Luthor's a genius," Wayne commented, "He probably considers it beneath him to use such a simple method."

"Yeah, someone needs to get that guy a couple of 'The Evil Overlord's Rules to Rule By' for Christmas," Terry joked.

Even though Terry joked about it, he knew that while he was out on patrol that night, Wayne would be updating Protocols to include fingerprinting heroes and rogues who didn't wear gloves and using that information to track down their civilian identities for future use in case they went out of control and became a threat.
