The crowded train rocks back and forth, its presence disrupting my thoughts. All I could think of was about how Levi had lied to me, something that I would never have dreamed of. I was close to tears again, but this time I quickly rid of them before anyone saw. I hated the weakling I was.
"Ms. Sena, are you alright?" Erwin asks, leaning in closer to examine me.
His sudden question caused me to jolt back, answering with a harsh reply as he leaned back onto his seat. "I'm fine."
"Have you never been on the subway?"
"O-of course I have!" I lie, crossing my arms and resting my head on the back of my seat, hoping to fall asleep to pass the time.
"I'm sorry," Erwin says with sincerity.
I didn't reply to his apology, just ticked off that I was forced to come and face Levi. I didn't know what to think, if I should start hating Levi, or start forgetting him.
"It's fine," I mutter at last, feeling a sense of dizziness from the train. It must be the motion sickness people always get.
"It's okay if you fall asleep, I'll wake you."
Should I trust him?
Before I could start to consider all the outcomes, I felt my tired self start to take over, the loud noise of the train car beginning to fade, my eyes struggling to stay open.
"Sleep well, Ms. Sena."
Those words sparked suspicion, but it was too late; I already began to dream.
"Big Brother, who is she?"
"Another one of them…"
No longer in the warmth of the subway, I was surrounded by crowding shoes, the pavement floor below me soaking all my clothes. My hair was sticky, slimy, and reeking of sweat, and my entire body was glued to the floor. I couldn't move.
"Tch. Throw her out."
It was the unmistakable voice of him.
I want to see you again, Levi.
"Wait! This one still has her limbs! I'm sure she can provide some use," another voice exclaims, as I feel a wave of relief at the reconsideration.
"They're all the same," Levi growls. "Now hurry up and get rid of the filthy body. We're going to be late."
"But Levi!—"
"Do it." He was growing impatient.
No one budged, and Levi began to mumble something under his breath. "Am I the only fucking sensible one here?"
A pair of arms grab onto my waist, pulling me over their shoulder, carrying me like some kind of life-size human puppet. Levi didn't bother handling me with care, but rather treated me like a rag doll and let my legs swing from side to side.
Hoping he would recognize me, I let out a soft croak, barely making out the words, "Levi."
In a split second, he hurled me to the ground. My body laid out on the cold cement, as he placed his boot onto my forehead and took a closer look at my broken face.
"How the fuck do you know who I am?"
I couldn't say anything else. My tongue was paralyzed, and I only looked directly towards his intimidating glare, hoping the message would get through his thick skull.
When our eyes met, for a moment, he looked frightened, almost like a desperate puppy. The grey eyes he owned had softened. I knew he had recognized me, and after what felt like hours, he averted his gaze and returned to his stoic manner.
With one swift kick, he sent me across the alley, my back making a loud thud as it slammed against the wall. My pathetic self sat upright, my entire body unable to move with so much pain. No one dared to stop Levi, because to them, I was clearly not worth the trouble.
Blood dripping from every part of my body, I only stayed silent, waiting to see what Levi would do next.
A dagger hidden in his pocket, he revealed it in one fist.
"Levi, stop!" The voices plead, as he slowly walks forward towards me, holding the dagger in the palm of his hand.
The sharp blade was inches from me, until I heard Levi whisper into my ear just barely.
"Please, stop me."
When the dagger dove deep into my chest, the last thing I saw of Levi was his smiling face, staring right at me as the blood poured out to begin the countdown of my death.
