THANK YOU FOR REVIEWING AND WAITING FOR ME I LOVE YOU.
I could still see Dimitri fuming in the corner of my eye as I walked out to the front of the shop in a blue mermaid dress. It was a beautiful gown, with small rhinestones at the breasts that ran down on side of the dress until, at a point, it reached where the dress began to become loose. I liked it, pretty but not me. Wrinkling my nose I shook my head.
"Don't like it?" Lissa asked walking up behind me in the same dress.
"Looks better on you," I stepped down from the small platform I stood on in front of the mirror and turn towards the shop girls. "Do you have anything in red? Or black? Maybe a mix of the two?"
"Of course," Lissa giggled at my choice of colors as she admired her dress in the mirror.
It looked beautiful on her of course, since she had such a small waist and was very tall. The blue looked wonderful with her pale skin and eyes as well. The whole dress complimented her figure nicely and I could definitely see her wearing it to the dance.
"What do you think Rose? This one or the purple one?" I glanced back over to the rack were hung out "maybe" dresses, eyes running over the purple material.
It was a deep purple silk, with a top layer of tool, that ran all the way to the ground. When Lissa had put it on it hugged her waist nicely, so it was quite tight- not that it mattered for her. It was tighter at the top and began to loosen as it climbed down to her feet. Long light purple feathers spread out of the right side of the dress, starting from where her waist would be. It was a strapless with a sweetheart neckline, that most definitely showed enough to make Christian more than happy.
Walking behind her I gazed into the mirror to look at her. "I like the purple,"
She smiled, "Me too,"
One of the girls came out with a black and red dress, that once I laid eyes on I wasn't sure if i could take my eyes of it. Especially after I tried it on.
It was a slim fitting red dress with some time of paisley floral pattern on it in black. It also had a slit up one side of her leg reaching about mid thigh. The dress hugged in all the right places, lighting up my breasts and pulling in waist to show my curves.
Adrian would have a field day if I got this.
But so would Dimitri.
I ignored the thought and brushed it away from my mind and turned to Lissa, smirking. I nodded.
"Yes?" Lissa gleamed back at me throwing her hands together, now in her regular clothes.
"Yes." I confirmed and looked myself once over again in the mirror. Damn. I looked hot.
"We'll take the purple and the red one please," I heard Lissa call from behind me as I got down off the stand and back into the dressing room.
I was almost disappointed to take it off, and what I thought to be a "hot" looking tank top for me looked like nothing compared to that dress. Oh what a field day it will be.
The girls insisted that they half the prices of both the dresses, and Lissa insisted back that she could pay for it all. It went back in forth for a few minutes until Lissa finally gave in and just gave them a large tip instead before leaving.
We walked over to a coffee shop a few stores down, the guardians following close by- including Dimitri.
I couldn't help but sneaking back looks at him when I was sure he wasn't looking. I did it about four times before he stared right back at me.
His brown eyes were hard, focused since he was working, but it was much more than that. It was a type of unjustifiable anger that boiled up inside that, until then, I was sure Dimitri couldn't posses. He was angry, he was hurt and he was jealous.
This had been the most he ever let me read off of him in public, but he only gave me seconds to do it before he averted his gaze back to Lissa's back.
I didn't even realize Adrian was next to me until he grabbed my hand and I jumped, which made him laugh.
"Did I scare you Little Dhampir? I thought you, fearless Rose Hathaway, couldn't be scared?" He teased me as Lissa smiled next to me, Christians hand linked in hers as well.
"Oh shut up, who said I was scared?"
"That jump perhaps," Christian retorted back to me snarkily. "Rose Hathaway off guard and scared. Once in a lifetime thing, better take a picture."
"Shut up, flame boy."
Adrian bumped into me playfully, trying to regain my attention. "Rosie, where are we going?"
Christian sighed at the pet name Adrian had now decided to call me. And I didn't need to see Dimitri's face as he shot lasers from his eyes into Adrians back.
"Well," I pointed between me and Lissa with the arm my shopping bags were in. "We were going to get coffee and then pick out shoes, right?"
I turned to her, as she nodded in confirmation.
"What dress did you get?" Adrian tried to reach over and peak in the bag with his free hand but I pulled it away, almost hitting Lissa.
"No, it's a surprise. You'll have to find me," I smirked at him, but couldn't help think of Dimitri.
Dimitri knew what my dress looked like already, making it easy for him to find me. I could sneak in a dance before Adrian even knew who I was, and then could dance with him. Adrian wouldn't have to know. Never had to know really, but it wasn't right in the least.
Adrian was this sweet guy I could have, kind of taboo, but I could have him. He was sweet, caring, patient, and he loved me. He loved me to the point he'd wait for me. I could tell him right now I wouldn't be ready for 3 years and then I'd give him a chance and he'd wait. Adrian was safe. Safe to be with, safe to have children with, although not approved of, but safe.
But Dimitri, that man. That man drove me insane until I wanted to scream in frustration and then turn around and make me scream in pleasure. He wasn't safe, not in the least. I could be a guardian but never have kids with him, I'd risk Lissa's life for him. I wasn't sure who I'd throw myself in front of, Lissa or Dimitri. The secrecy, the lies, all of it was risky and dangerous and I craved it. Not to mention the simple fact every time I see him I could barely control myself.
Adrian deserved a chance though, I rationalized with myself, he has a bunch of bad things let him have one good thing. All that spirit, all that darkness, and someone I knew that I'd make it better. I'd make light.
Adrian still clutched my hand and began to plead with me. "One look? Can I at least help you pick out shoes? I'll even buy them for you."
I shook my head. "Got to be a secret, besides, I wouldn't let you buy them for me. I have some money."
"Little dhampir, I'd buy the world for you if you asked."
He was sweet. So sweet I could barf, or melt. I still haven't decided which one when I began to smile at him. "Sweet, but no need."
He stopped and turned me towards him, grabbing both of my hands in his as he raised them up to kiss the backs of them. "Can I buy you one thing? Lipgloss maybe?"
Lipgloss. I tried to shake the memory of Dimitri buying me lipgloss simply because I said I needed more, no asking required. It was one of the first signs of affection he had given me, and it almost seemed special. I didn't want Adrian to take that, even if I gave him this chance.
"You can buy me…" I leaned up to his ear and whispered. "A kiss,"
Adrian couldn't contain his smile as I fell back down to the ground. "Really?"
"If you don't buy me anything today, or try to see what my outfit is for the dance. Then yes," I smiled at him.
Adrian grabbed my waist and picked me up, hugging me tightly. "Little dhampir, consider my curiosity and money gone."
Laughing I began walking again, Lissa and Christian hadn't stopped and were sitting outside a coffee shop with drinks in their hands. I couldn't help but wonder if they had chocolate chip muffins or hot chocolate, some of my two favorite foods. Although coffee with some sweetener in it was great too, sometimes it was the only thing that got me out of bed in the morning.
We soon caught up to them, and ordered drinks. I got a hot chocolate and Adrian got the same. After that me and Lissa separated from the boys once again. This time Dimitri stalked behind Adrian instead of me.
"So," Lissa poked me in the arm. "Adrian?"
"Shut up," I could feel a slight blush rising to my cheeks. "He's just taking me to the dance."
"Rosemarie Hathaway, you have a date?" Lissa exclaimed as she smiled at me, wrapping one of her arms around my shoulder and squeezing me. "Are you gunna get together?"
"I don't know," I looked behinds us, watching Adrian walk away and smiled. "He's sweet, deserves a chance."
"Rose!" Lissa squealed in excitement as we entered the shoe store.
It was a small shop, lined with about 4 aisles of fancy shoes. Heels, wedges, pumps, flats, I gazed over my selection of shoes before turning back to Lissa. She looked positively ecstatic, so happy I could feel her happiness pour through the bond.
"Well," I took a sip of my hot chocolate, "Lets get to it."
