It had been a week since then, since Hiruma started staying in the Club room. No one ask him about it,
They so desperately wanted to tell him that it was okay to lean on them more but Musashi said that it was fine and it was out of their control anyway,
Hiruma had also stopped visiting Melody in the Afternoon or after classes, not even before classes. She was almost "half-dead" anyway, according to Hiruma. Mamori thought it was cruel. But in replacement of him, it seems Musashi is visiting her and is giving some half-hearted report to Hiruma about her wellbeing,
"They're removing the additional tubes they've inserted on her." Musashi said on the third day whilst Hiruma just replied with no indifference, "I see. Good for her."
Today had been the same, after practice while he's cleaning one of his gun, Musashi enter the club room when it was only him, Kurita and Mamori resting,
"She's having trouble breathing." Musashi started as he closes the door behind him and Hiruma's hand stops as he look up, "Again?" he ask and Musashi nodded, sitting on one of the folding chair, "The blood continues to build in her throat, she's under surveillance 24/7 so someone can put wet tissues on her mouth."
"H-Hiruma! Wi-will Melody be okay?" Kurita ask, looking at him then at Musashi,
Hiruma let out a long drawn sigh before he angrily glare at Kurita, "I don't fuckin know, porker!" He answer between gritted teeth, trying to type again, "H-Hiruma..." Kurita whimpered again and he only replied by kicking the damn nearest chair at them and glaring at Kurita,
"I don't fucking know, okay?!" he shouted, very unlikely of him at all. "This is going on for almost three weeks, how am I gonna fucking know?!"
"You are all expecting too much from me!" He shouted again, kicking the table this time and standing up to walk toward the door,"I am not a frickin'machine! Just one click and came a strategy!"
"Hiruma," Musashi said, going after him, "Chill down!" He said, trying to calm Hiruma down and pulling him back to them, "Relax." He said, voice staning with authority, "She's going to be fine."
Hiruma glare at him before a blank look replace his face, "She's going to die." Hiruma quietly said, looking at his eyes and Musashi gulp, he had never seen an expression so raw from Hiruma...
"She's going to die," He said, head hung low, "She's going to die." He repeated once again and before Hiruma can repeat the same sentence again, Kurita lets out a big laugh and everyone turn at him as if he finally lost it.
"Kurita...kun?"
"You finally lost it, porker?"
Kurita shakes his head, wiping a few tears from his eyes, "It's just that... Seeing you two like that, Melody will probably double over and laugh until her stomach hurts and she'll call you two idiots before speaking." He says and Hiruma can surely imagine his golden hair lover, annoyingly laughing her hearts out, calling them idiots and kicking her feet in delight.
"You idiots. Go die somewhere! Really, what are you talking about? You turn the worst of thing into the best of things, right?"
Musashi recited with a straight face, looking at them with a small smile, those words is what Melody would have said to them, "Melody wouldn't want you to fall. But she wouldn't like it if you forget about her too, this guilt is driving you mad. You need to visit her." He said, giving Hiruma's shoulder a reassuring squeeze, "And she's not going to die."
Even so, Hiruma did not visit Melody, he said-he's not going. Doing so will only distracts him from the game and he doesn't want that-doesn't need it.
Mamori learn a lot. About Melody. Not from Hiruma though, from Kurita's happy stories to Musashi's warning...
Melody was addicted to coffee. Even though she is not supposed to. She likes doodling on places, sometimes she uses Hiruma's arm for her drawings. She and Hiruma met in Middle School. Hiruma proposed-they think when Melody collapses the first time. Melody was Hiruma's partner in practice, a feat that Mamori is doing now
And then she learned about Hiruma too. How he cherish Melody the most. How he will give everything to her. How he calls Melody in his sleeps. That however he may denied it. He misses Melody.
Then she learned about them.
How Hiruma and Melody fights a lot. But then make up within hours. How one would send the other barrages of phone call or text when they are not with each other. Or how their wedding vows would be "to annoy the hell out of you forever and ever." How everything between them was just too perfect. That they are home to each other.
"Stupid Manager, Don't stare." Hiruma angrily snap when he caught her staring once.
Lastly, she learned about herself. How ugly her feelings have, how even though there is no chance for Hiruma to loves her, she still hopes. And that's ugly...
"Hiruma-kun. Let's practice your throwing." Hiruma blinks but he nodded nonetheless, grabbing a ball out of nowhere before walking outside with a grin. She had already replaced Melody with this part-surely she can replace who Melody is.
Then they won, against Shinryuuji, against Agon whom Hiruma thought was impossible. Even if he looks happy, Mamori wondered why he was pained. Is it because he cannot share that happiness with her…?
"Melody would have been happy." She turn around and look at Musashi who said that and he smiles all too-knowingly at her, warning her once again not to get too close, "Why is Melody-san sick?" She finally ask and Musashi look down, swallowing.
"Not just sick…" He muttered, thinking if he should say this but eventually he did, "She's dying…"
Mamori's blue eyes widen when he said that, such a happy day today was supposed to be-is she supposed to be happy? Or not? "The Doctors said-" Musashi paused, thinking of how he would say this .. "-she may not have enough…"
She swallowed, "Enough what?"
"Time. Time left."
And suddenly she turn even more uglier because at that moment, all she can think is that Melody should just go ahead and die.
She felt guilty all of a sudden. When she rationalize what she thought. And even though, it's a party, she cannot bring herself to care because Hiruma-kun was not there. So, she took it upon herself to search for him, finding him in an empty classroom with only his laptop in there with him,
"Good work today," She murmured, covering him with her jacket before she slowly reaches out, touching his blonde spikes, Hiruma shifted so she nervously withdrew her hands away, but he didn't open his eyes and she lets out a relieved sigh before swallowing again,
"Youichi." She muttered.
At the sound of his first name, Hiruma's eyes slowly fluttered open, those slitted eyes looking at her dazely, "Melody?" he ask, blindly reaching out,
Mamori flinched and shake her head, "No, Hiruma-kun. It's not Melody..." she said, but Hiruma still found her hand, his long fingers lacing themselves on hers as he clutch her hand, "I see."
"Shall I go?" she ask, looking down at their joined hands, willing her heartbeat to slow down..
Hiruma shakes his head, "No. Stay." He says, gripping her hand harder, "Just for a while, please stay." He says and Mamori just shook her head but she stays, it's not like she can deny anything that he wishes... For a moment, everything between them is quiet until she looks down and saw something red in his chest,
"Hiruma-kun?"
"What?"
"What's in there?" She ask, pointing at his chest and Hiruma looked down before he gruff, "You'll laugh." Mamori smiles, "I won't."
He parted his shirt and Mamori's eyes widen when she saw what is in his chest-
There In his chest, written in red magic was her name and that irregular shape which was her heart,
"To my wife, Melody."
She swallowed, feeling something pit in her stomach again, it happens whenever she sees how cherish Melody is. How lucky... "Hiruma-kun," she called and Hiruma crack an eye open, "Why?"
"So I won't forget. I am not allowed to forget." He replies, looking down at their joined hands, "My bad, frickin manager. I just needed someone to hold me." He says, letting go of her hand, "And I need that person to be Melody. Sorry about this shit."
She swallowed.
"She's going to die, you know. You said so yourself."
Hiruma stand up and nodded, giving her back her jacket, "I know." Mamori push down that weird feeling again, looking down at her feet, "Hiruma-kun, you know, I-"
"Hiruma!" They both look up as Musashi dashed in, Kurita following after him, and Hiruma growled, "What is it now? I'm tired so I'm going home already."
"Melody just woke up."
By the way, guys, I've rewritten everything so you might want to read them again ^^ll
