Hey everyone sorry for the incredible long wait but something came up and I kind of forgot about this one. However I do intend to finish this so it will be monthly due to time issues until I have more time but for now that's how it is. I hope you all like the next chapter and please review to let me know what you think.
Chapter 4: Nugget Bridge.
"Alright Pidgeotto let's use peck and finish this up!" Blue said.
Pidgeotto dove straight for the opponents Oddish and jabbed it with his beak. The force from the speed caused Oddish to fly right into its trainer.
"No! My Oddish!" Blue's opponent, Ethan cried out while clutching his Oddish.
"And you've just made number five!" Blue said happily before walking down the golden bridge to claim his reward.
"All right now that I defeat all five trainers I can go claim my prize!" Blue said proudly.
"Congratulations on clearing the nugget bridge." A sixth guy said as he held out his hand and Blue shook it.
"Thank you though it wasn't much of a challenge for me." Blue said proudly
"I see so you considered each of those Pokémon trainers to be weak. I can tell you must be a very skilled trainer especially if you were able to win so easily." The man said in awe of Blue's ability to easily take out all five of the trainers of the bridge with ease.
"Well what can I say I'm super awesome I know." Blue said proudly.
"Yes indeed I bet you are a great trainer," The man said.
"You bet anyone who tries to take me out is doomed. Cause I'm gonna be the greatest trainer ever." Blue bragged.
"I see well then here is this prize. It's a Nugget. If you take it to a pokemart you'll be able to sell it for a lot of money." The man said.
"I see well then with this I'm sure I can make quite a bit of money and on top of that I made a little bit of money from beating all those trainers so I'm happy." Blue said.
"I'm sure you can but you know there are better ways to gain a lot of money and power to make your Pokémon into much better fighting machines." The man said.
"Really you know a way to be able to make my Pokémon into becoming far stronger then we are already. Man that sounds awesome. Truth is told I don't really care that much about money and I doubt I even need it to much but if you're able to make my Pokémon stronger then I'm defiantly going to consider it." Blue said happily.
"Oh well if it's power that you want and to become one of the stronger trainers in all of the Kanto region then we can make you do that easily." The man said with a smile that was both cruel and kind.
"Well if what you say is true then I defiantly want to become stronger so I'd love to hear what you have as an idea on how to help me gain power." Blue said.
"Wonderful in that case I'll tell you. Tell me boy how would you like to join team Rocket." The man said as his expression changed from a kind one to a serious and almost sinister one.
"Team Rocket?" Blue said immediately recognizing the name from Mount Moon and not liking were this was going.
"Yes we are a group of criminals that will take over the Kanto region. We steal other trainers Pokémon and take down anyone who we see as a threat to us." The man said.
"Yea I know of them and I'm not liking were this is going. In fact if your asking me to join then count me out." Blue said annoyed.
"Hold on you got to be kidding me! You don't actually believe that you can become strong without joining us do you?"
"Well I was strong enough to beat down a handful of your buddies back in Mt. Moon." Blue taunted.
Listen you brat the power we possess is far greater then any normal trainer can comprehend." The man who was a rocket grunt said.
"Good for you but I couldn't care less. If you ask me joining team Rocket would just be a waste of time." Blue said.
"Are you insane. The power you will get-"
"Is nothing unless I become a higher up member of your team and who knows if even that would be that powerful." Blue said
"Listen you, our elite are far stronger then any normal trainer and our leader can make anyone into a master trainer if he actually took the time to train you." The grunt said.
"And how many of your pathetic teammates did he train. Because the losers I already fought were pretty pathetic. So if I had to guess I'd say it was zero." Blue said.
"He simple said he hasn't found anyone worthy of becoming his apprentice yet. But he says that when he finds one he will turn that one apprentice into an amazing trainer that is far greater then even himself." The one grunt said.
"Not interested right now. Maybe if I ever change my mind." Blue said walking away but with no interest in becoming a member of these idiots.
Seeing Blue turn his back on him made him snap. He rushed forward and spun Blue around and then pushed him to the ground.
"Hey!" Blue snarled.
"Listen you if you don't join us then I suppose I'll just have to demonstrate how powerful we really are." The Rocket grunt said as he grabbed his Pokeball.
"I just took down five trainers like it was nothing. What makes you think you'll be any different?" Blue asked while grabbing one of his own pokeballs.
"You're bluffing you little brat. There's no way in hell that your Pokémon are still at full health after all five of those trainers." The Rocket grunt said.
"You sure about that. I've used three of my Pokémon on this bridge but I still have a fourth and I doubt you'd want to face someone who has a Psychic type." Blue said in a confident tone.
The Team Rocket Grunt was silent for a moment before he put his Pokeball back on his waist and said, "Ugh fine then forget it. This isn't even worth the effort."
"Good to know. Well thanks for the nugget I suppose I'll sell it for some money." Blue said with a smirk.
The Team Rocket thug just turned and stomped away angrily.
"I think I'll go see Bill now that I think about it. Gramps use to mention him from time to time. It might be fun to meet him." Blue said to himself.
But before Blue continued on to Route 25 he decided to spin around and go back to Cerulean City to heal up his Pokémon.
When Blue reached the other side of the bridge he ran into an old friend.
"Red?" Blue said shocked.
"Blue what are you doing here." Red asked.
"Getting ready to challenge the gym." Blue said.
"Well I suppose I'm doing the same. I also heard that there's a nugget bridge here and I thought it'd be good training." Red said
"If I was you then I wouldn't even waste my time. I mean I just did it and those trainers were a joke." Blue said.
"Really wow shocking. Darn it I hopped that I could get some hard core training done." Red said in a disappointed tone.
"Well unless you haven't been doing anything recently then I suppose you'll be fine. Then again you have a fire type don't you. I wonder if that'll be any help. I mean the gym leader uses Water type Pokémon." Blue warned.
"Maybe she does but who cares. I'll still take her out and win this battle easy. I have a counter for water types." Red said
"A counter. Do you mean a grass or electric type?" Blue asked confused.
"Maybe want to find out in a battle." Red said.
"You know I'm always up for beating you. But first I have to hit the Pokémon center first." Blue said.
"Sweet let's go." Red said as they went to the center and Blue started healing his guys.
Blue gave his Pokémon to the nurse at the center and went to sit down with Red.
"So want to bet something." Red said.
"Last time you and I had a bet we both ended up getting stung by a thousand Beedrill." Blue said shuddering at the memory.
"Don't be a baby. Anyway it's nothing crazy like that." Red said.
"Well in that case sure. Just try not to cry when I win." Blue said.
"As if. Now we both have one badge I'm guessing and on top of that how many Pokémon do you have?" Red asked.
"Four" Blue said acting all cool and he just knew that he had to have beaten Red.
"How funny, I have four too!" Red said in a confident tone.
"Huh seriously. What are your two new ones?" Blue asked.
I'll show you if we battle in a four on four match." Red said
"As much as I would love to face him in a four on Abra is useless right now because it only knows teleport. I'm just glad that Team Rocket moron fell for my bluff when I threatened him." Blue thought.
"How about three on three?" Blue asked.
"Huh? Why?" Red asked confused.
"Because I don't want to embarrass you too bad." Blue said.
Red smirked at Blue's jab and said "Fine I can beat you just as easily with three Pokémon." Red said confidently.
"We'll see about that." Blue said, as he was ready to beat Red for a second time.
Once Blue got his Pokémon back the two rivals exited the Pokémon Centre and walked to the battlefield behind and each took their place.
"Alright let's start off strong. Charmander let's go!" Red said.
"Charmander Char Char." Charmander said upon being released.
"Charmander huh? Then I guess I'll go with Squirtle." Blue said releasing his own starter Pokémon.
"Squirtle Squirt." the water type said.
"Alright Squirtle let's win this battle just like we did before." Blue said to his Squirtle.
"Squirtle." the water type said hitting his shell.
"Don't count on it. Charmander use scratch!" Blue said.
Squirtle tackle!" Blue said.
Charmander and Squirtle both rushed forward with Charmander hitting first and scratching Squirtle's face but the little water type slammed into Charmander knocking the fire type back.
"Ok Squirtle use water gun!" Blue said.
"Dodge it and use ember." Red said.
Squirtle launched a jet of water at the small fire type. Charmander however easily slid to the left and avoided the water and then launched a barrage of fire balls that hit Squirtle.
"Squirtle!" the water type said in annoyance.
"Why do you keep using ember? You know it doesn't do much damage to Squirtle." Blue asked.
"Because sooner of later the damage will start adding up." Red replied.
"True but your Charmander's not going to last that long." Blue said.
"Squirtle. Squirt." Squirtle said with a nod.
"Now Squirtle use water gun!" Blue said.
"Smoke screen quick!" Red said.
Charmander opened its mouth and released black smoke that surrounded both Charmander and Squirtle.
"Now scratch!" Red said.
Blue wasn't worried. The smoke was so thick that there was no way Charmander could see his Squirtle.
"Squirtle!" his water type cried out.
"What? How could Charmander possibly see in that crap?" Blue asked.
"Because Charmander and I have been experimenting ever since he learned smoke screen. Now he can see through all that smoke easily." Red said.
Blue growled and said "Squirtle use withdraw until the smoke clears."
Blue couldn't see but he could hear the sound of Charmander's claws scratching Squirtle's shell.
This went on for several seconds before the smoke finally started to clear.
"Ok Squirtle use tackle." Blue said.
Squirtle shot his head out of one of the holes in his shell and hit Charmander right in the stomach.
"Char." Charmander groaned while grabbing his stomach.
"Follow it up with water gun!" Blue said.
Squirtle launched another jet of water that hit Charmander and caused the fire type to cry out in pain while step away.
"Mander!" Charmander cried.
"Let's wrap this up with one last tackle!" Blue said.
Squirtle shot forward and slammed his head right into Charmander, knocking the fire type right off its feet and sending it flying to Red's feet.
"Charmander!" Red said.
"Yes! One down! Great job Squirtle!" Blue said holding his hand out.
Squirtle ran back to his trainer and jumped up and high fived Blue "Squirtle!"
"Good job Blue. You've gotten a lot stronger since Route 22." Red said.
"Thanks Red. So have you. Especially with that smoke screen move." Blue said.
"Now time for another old friend. Let's go Mankey!" Red said.
"Key! Mankey!" the fighting type screeched.
Blue looked at his Squirtle and saw that all those scratches had taken a toll on him and said "Squirtle return."
Blue then grabbed his second Pokeball and said "Pidgeotto let's go!"
"Pidgeotto!" the flying type cawed.
"So far this is like our second battle all over again." Blue said.
Red smirked "yeah. But this time I'm going to be the winner."
"Keep dreaming. Now Pidgeotto use peck!" Blue said.
"Catch it and use seismic toss!" Red said.
Pidgeotto shot down at Mankey but the fighting type managed to catch Pidgeotto by the wings. The fighting type then pulled Pidgeotto into a hug and leapt into the air and then threw Pidgeotto towards the ground with all its might.
"Otto!" Pidgeotto groaned when he hit the ground.
"Now karate chop!" Red said.
"Get out of the way!" Blue cried.
Pidgeotto managed to take off and avoid the karate chop by the feathers of his wings.
"Gust!" Blue said.
"Pidgeotto!" the flying type said before launching a strong blast of air at Mankey who screeched in pain.
"Key!" Mankey cried.
"Now wing attack!" Blue said.
Pidgeotto shot down at Mankey again only this time with his wings glowing and swiped the fighting type causing Mankey to let out a large screech.
"Again!" Blue said.
"Karate chop!" Red said.
Pidgeotto was too fast for Mankey and slammed his wings into the fighting type and knocked it down.
"Oh yeah! Two down!" Blue said after Pidgeotto took Mankey down with ease.
So far Blue was dominating Red. Similar to their second match, Whenever Red would send out another Pokémon, Blue would just send out a counter for it.
"Man you sure do know how to battle smart Blue. But still I'm going to win this match." Red said as he held out a third Pokeball.
"Get real I have three whole Pokémon left and you only have one. You have no chance of victory." Blue bragged.
"We'll see. I told you that my third Pokémon can counter a water type and it can do even more then that but here it is. Pikachu I choose you." Red said as he sent out an electric mouse Pokémon.
"Pi Pikachu!" the little yellow electric type said upon being released.
"No way a Pikachu. I heard you could find them in the Viridian forest but no matter how hard I looked, I never saw any of them. God Damn it Red this isn't fair!" Blue almost whined.
"Sorry Blue but I caught it and I intend to take you out with it. Pikachu use Thundershock!" Red said.
"Dodge it with quick attack and slam into the mouse!" Blue said.
Pidgeotto shot right for the electric type and easily avoided the first Thundershock and then slammed into it.
"Pika!" Pikachu cried out.
Unfortunately for Blue, this is when his luck started to turn.
Pidgeotto's body started twitching and electricity traveled all along its body causing the flying type to land.
"Excellent! Static!" Red said happily.
Great! Now we're paralyzed." Blue said annoyed.
"All right now that your Pidgeotto is paralyzed we can win this. Pikachu use Thundershock!" Red said.
"Pika CHU!" Pikachu said before launching a powerful electric bolt that struck Pidgeotto and knocked the flying type to the ground.
"Otto." Pidgeotto said trying to push himself back to his feet with his wings but failed and collapsed.
"Yes!" Red said happily.
"Oh no PIdgeotto's down for the count. Well no worries though I still have two other Pokémon. Go Squirtle!" Blue said as he sent out his Squirtle.
"Squirtle huh. Well I hate to tell you this but your Squirtle's not looking too good. After all of those dragon rage attacks I'm surprised it's still standing. So I think we have a good shot of winning this battle." Red said.
"Shut up. Squirtle's a lot tougher then you think." Blue said.
"Well I guess we'll find out won't we." Red said.
"Yeah we will. Now Squirtle use water gun!" Blue said.
"Squirtle!" the water type panted before launching a jet of water that hit Pikachu right in the chest, knocking it backwards.
"Pika!" Pikachu grunted.
"You'll have to do better then that. Now Pikachu use quick attack!" Red said.
"Pikachu!" the yellow electric type said before quickly shooting forward and slamming into Squirtle knocking him back.
"Now use Thundershock!" Red said.
"Use tackle!" Blue said.
Even though Squirtle was tired from his battle with Charmander he still managed to slam his head into Pikachu before the electric type could launch a super effective move.
Unfortunately Pikachu took a page out of Blue's book and launched an electric bolt that hit Squirtle point blank and caused the water type to cry out.
"Squirtle!" The water type said before fainting.
"Yes! Great job little buddy!" Red said.
"Cha!" Pikachu squealed happily.
"Now I'm down to my last Pokémon." Blue said.
"Yep. Now let's see this new Pokémon." Red said sounding excited.
"Fine then it's your funeral. Go Ratatta!" Blue said as he sent out his small purple Pokémon.
"Rat!" Ratatta hissed.
"Just a little Rattata huh. Me and Pikachu can handle this." Red said with a confident tone.
"Keep telling yourself that Red but this little Rattata knows the definition of hard work and he has grown into quite the fighting machine." Blue said proudly.
"Rattata." the little Pokémon hissed.
"Well then that goes double for us. Pikachu use Thundershock!" Red said.
"Pikachu!" the electric type said before launched a single electric bolt that hit Rattata.
"Shake it off and use hyper fang!" Blue said.
Rattata shook off the remaining electricity still stuck to his fur and then quickly shot forward with his now glowing yellow teeth and sunk them into Pikachu's stomach.
"Pika!" Pikachu cried out.
"Now get away before quick!" Blue said.
Rattata quickly released Pikachu and shot away from the electric type before it could hit Rattata with a close range Thundershock.
"Pretty impressive power huh Red?" Blue asked.
Pretty impressive indeed. But it won't be enough to win you this battle. Pikachu use quick attack!" Red said.
"We'll use Quick Attack too!" Blue said.
Both Pokémon took off in a flash, leaving a white streak in their wake and collided with each other. The force of the collision sent both Pokémon flying backwards.
"Pika!" Pikachu groaned when it hit the ground.
"Rat!" Rattata also groaned.
Both small Pokémon got back to their feet and both were panting heavily from the battle.
"You're doing great Pikachu. Now let's use Thundershock!" Red said
"Quick! Get up and use Hyper fang!" Blue said.
Ratatta quickly got back to his feet but unfortunately wasn't fast enough and was hit by the electric attack.
"Ratatta!" the little purple Pokémon cried out.
"Come on little guy. Hyper fang!" Blue said.
Ratatta got a running start and leapt into the air and landed on Pikachu's back and then sunk it's fangs into Pikachu's back.
"Pika!" Pikachu cried out.
"Keep biting that Pikachu until it faints!" Blue said.
"Pikachu use Thundershock to Shock it until it let's go." Red said.
"No matter what do not let go until that Pikachu faints." Blue said.
Ratatta kept biting down hard on Pikachu and then Pikachu began to shock Ratatta with its electricity. Both Pokémon kept up their attacks until after about a minute or so, both Pokémon fell to the ground and fainted.
Neither trainer moved, spoke, or even breathed until finally Red said, "No way both Pokémon are unable to battle."
"Are you kidding me? This is just great! A draw of all things was what happened." Blue said annoyed at the tie.
"Well what's the big deal? I suppose for now we're equal." Red said.
"The big deal is that now you have a chance of surpassing me. Whatever though doesn't go and think that I'll let you. Well then smell you latter." Blue said as he started walking off.
"Hold on Blue, were are you going?" Red asked.
"To heal up my Pokémon and then to go to the Cerulean gym. I have badge to win." Blue said walking off.
