"I told you I don't know!" An empty basket was thrown at Ferris, Ferris grew annoyed.
"I was just asking! Rude Man!" She stuck a tongue out and turned away.
"Crazy girl." The man whispered. Ferris heard that, but she ignored it.
For the whole day, she walked around trying to get information on what happened yesterday. Just as the sun was setting, she looked up. "Ah, it's getting dark, I probably should get home." She smiled and continued walking.
"What is a pretty girl like you doing all alone?" She turned to the voice and gentle old woman smiled at her.
"Come here, sit." The woman patted the seat next to her.
Ferris smiled, though she was reluctant, she could really use a friend right now.
"I'm looking for something." Ferris looked down, trying to draw circles on the ground with her foot.
"What can I do for you pretty lady?" The old woman smiled, Ferris lightened because of this.
"Obaa-chan, do you know what happened yesterday?" She asked with a smile.
"Yesterday? That Girl? Oh I saw that." Ferris was shocked? "Really?" She smiled and held the old woman's hand. The woman was surprised, and then smiled.
"Yes."
"What happened obaa-chan?" Ferris' eyes were full of joy.
"Oh, you know I was walking as my usual exercise, then came this crying girl, she was running to the other side of the forest. Then two figures jumped from the shadows. The next thing I saw she was lying down with a slash on her back." The old woman seemed sad and scared about what happened.
"Obaa-chan, can you describe the figures?" Ferris asked hopefully.
"Oh yes, one had a red scarf tied around his neck, and one had a tattoo." The old woman was trying to remember.
"What tattoo?" Ferris asked.
"Sort of a dragon like." The woman smiled.
"Thank you thank you so much obaa-chan." Ferris hugged the old woman who returned gratefully.
"Would a beautiful girl like you still worry about it?" The old woman asked.
"No not anymore, obaa-chan, arigatou." Ferris stood up and waved goodbye.
Almost skipping home, Ferris felt eyes watching her, she stopped. She looked around and saw no one.
"Must be my imagination."
"Aren't you a happy girl?" Vois greeted her. "Have you had dinner yet?"
"I'm not hungry." She smiled.
"Oh come on let's eat." Vois led her to the table with Dangos.
"Wha- Oh I love you Vois!" Ferris hugged Vois out of happiness. At the same moment, Ryner came in.
"It seems like I interrupted something." His voice was low and his fist was tight.
Vois and Ferris looked up to see him standing by the door.
"Ryner-kun it's not-"Vois was cut off by Ryner.
"I don't care, but you're having fun, for someone who just almost lost a friend." His eyes were sharp, and they were looking directly at Ferris.
Ferris was hurt, she just felt relieved and then it all crashed down on her again. She stood up.
"I'm tired, I'm off to sleep." She made it past Ryner and went to her room.
"Ryner, that wasn't-"Vois was met with Ryner's piercing glare.
"I don't care; I'm going up to look after Kiefer." He turned away and continued to Kiefer's room.
The next day, Vois woke up early to find Ferris ready to go out, "And where are you going?"
"I'm going out. The plan's postponed until Kiefer's all healed right?" Ferris smiled.
"Ah yeah but where are you going?" Vois called out to the running Ferris, she was so quick out the door
"Out for a walk!" Ferris shouted back and continued running.
She had a plan; she would try to find the assassins, while walking or observing people at the park. She would search until she cleared the Dango owner's suspected name.
Every day she would go out, trying to find the two figures obaa-chan has told her. She has breakfast early and leaves early, return late and sleep. She never spoke with Ryner, their time never seemed to be the same. It was like she was alone.
For two months she did this.
