Sasuke's Pov

"SASUKE! WHAT THE HELL?!" Naruto tried to put the fire on his trousers out - with difficulty.

"Uhh…it's a fight, we're supposed to you know. Fight…"

"Oh sure, but you know SPARING means not setting me on fire with JUTSU, bastard!"

"Ah, so that's what it means, I'll have to remember that" I smirked as my team mate managed to finally to put out his leg, his orange jumpsuit leg burnt and blackened.

Lately, I couldn't seem to help myself around the blonde. I found myself taunting and teasing him, when I really wanted to befriend him. I wanted just to be around him. I couldn't explain why, even to myself. Maybe it's because that stupid face really pisses me off…

It had been a few weeks since we had passed Kakashi's test, and could be called a team…well if you used the term loosely you might call us a team. Kakashi was always late, or setting us work and disappearing off. Sakura took the title of Fan girl to the deepest extremes, swooning if I happened to blink in her general direction, or accidently acknowledge her in any way. As for Naruto well…Naruto was…

"You think you're smart don't you!?" My teammate turned around a second later and advanced upon me, shaking his fist furiously.

Yeah...Naruto was Naruto; there was no other way to describe him. He was hot headed, angry, loud mouthed, petty and pretty damn slow on the uptake. Though for some reason, I found him all the more attractive because of it. His unabashed and untempered reactions to the world constantly threw me. He was competitive in a way that made me want to work harder, for no other reason than to work harder with him. I wanted to hate him for the kind of guy he was, but I couldn't, and that really pissed me off.

I inadvertently stepped back as Naruto's wrathful figure advanced towards me.

"No. I know I am" I smirked again, purposely trying to aggravate the blonde.

I saw his face contort in anger as he leapt towards me. Kakashi, who had promised that he would, intervened - catching Naruto by the arm and effectively stopping him in his tracks. Sakura ran up to us, panting slightly with concern.

"Are you okay?" She asked me dramatically.

"Why wouldn't I be, I'm not the one who was on fire." I replied sarcastically, rolling my eyes, and with that I turned and walked briskly away from the others, partially because I knew I was going to be told off for using a Jutsu in a sparring match, and partially because I wanted to get away from Sakura; but mostly because I wanted the blonde to follow me to shout at me some more, which was almost a certainty, unless Kakashi stopped him.

After rounding a corner out of sight of the others, I found himself face to face with Konoha's knuckle headed ninja; his hands on his hips looking like his head was about to implode as he stood there waiting for me. Pretty fast…

"Hey"

"I swear I gonna kill you, you bastard! Why did you-"

"I want you" I replied quietly, cutting across his question, surprised by my own words even as they left my mouth. I watched as Naruto's jaw went slack instantly, his eyes widened and his arms dropped by his sides, limp. It took him a few seconds to recover, his mouth opening and closing slightly as he tried to think of a way to reply. He settled on angrily.

"Liar! What the hell kind of thing to say is that?" He spoke through gritted teeth, trying to keep his voice low.

"If you don't like my answer, then go away." I turned to leave quickly, as shocked as I was over my own confession, I was finding it hard to keep the smile off my face at the blondes reaction, It's probably best to leave now….

On a scale of 1 to monstrously pissed Naruto was hitting the pretty damn pissed mark right about now…and even I knew when to stop annoying him. The ear ache was far too much hassle…

I looked back at my teammate again and saw he was blushing, his lips were pressed tightly together and he was visibly itching to punch me.

"TEME don't think you can run off now, I'll show you-" The younger boy reached towards me to stop me from leaving, balling his other hand into a fist as he did so. Automatically I twisted as he lunged forward, to push his outstretched hand away to make sure that he didn't have the advantage to land a punch.

In what seemed like slow motion, Naruto managed to trip himself up, falling forward into me as I swept his grabbing hand aside, knocking us both to the floor. A sharp pain shot through my coccyx as I hit the ground, followed by the dull, resonating thud of his head banging into my own, and then the warmth of his cheek as it skimmed passed mine.

"Ow ow ow" Naruto pushed himself up off me so that he was on his knees, and held his head where he had smacked it against mine. I looked up at the idiot as he moaned, holding his head as though it were about to fall off and I sighed, knowing it would get his attention. His fingers moved to reveal big angry blue eyes, and he glared at me as though the situation was my fault.

"This is the second time now - You can't even 'accidentally' kiss someone right can you?" I said in a low voice, causing him to blush scarlet.

"TEME! I didn't! I-" I cut off his next inevitable tirade by cupping his cheek and pressing my lips briefly but firmly against his, his skin hot against my cooler fingers. His eyes were wide and unmoving as I picked myself up off the floor without a word and quickly rounded the corner, silently trying to calm the thudding of my frantic heart. Out of his line of sight I leapt to the roof of the nearest building and began heading home. I couldn't believe I had kissed the idiot, after professing my feelings to him, in a manner of speaking. That damn blonde is gonna make me as reckless as he is if I'm not careful…

I wondered what I should do next. Act as though nothing had happened? Naruto would probably opt for that option too I thought, hopping over to another rooftop. I wasn't even truly sure of my own feelings; all I knew was that I wanted to be around my loud mouthed teammate. Even with his lack of skill and his countless other faults, I wanted just to be near him; to watch him succeed. He wanted to prove how strong he was to everyone, and that feeling resonated deeply within me.

As I got closer to my house, I toyed with the idea of pursuing him openly. As much as I knew that I wouldn't take that course, it bought a smirk to my lips. Sakura would hate it, and maybe finally take the hint. Naruto wouldn't know what to do with his self, and maybe he would finally concede to me. I expelled a breath as I landed near my house, deciding to wait and see how the blond would deal with what had happened first.

xXx

Naruto knelt as Sasuke removed his fingers from his jaw and rose without a word.

Too shocked to stand up, or even get angry with the Uchiha, Naruto frowned to himself, wondering why he felt so cheated by what had just happened.

Finally looking up, he saw Sasuke disappear around the corner. He stood up shortly after, turning in the opposite direction to where Sasuke had gone.

"Naruto?" It was Kakashi "Are you okay? You look lost in thought"

"Hey sensei" He replied, avoiding the question "You going home too?"

"No, I'm going to Iruka's"

"You two are friends then- right?"

"Of course"

"Then….um - If one of you 'hypothetically' suddenly kissed the other….what would happen then? I mean it's a bit weird right?"

The Jonin was slightly shocked by the blondes question, to say the least, but decided that replying honestly would be the best course of action in this case. Obviously something had happened; his money being on; that Sasuke had either just kissed him or confessed to him, especially as the blond was a terrible liar, and would never use the word 'hypothetically'. So somethinghad to be up. But with Sasuke being the slightly sadistic type, Kakashi couldn't be sure that it wasn't just his idea of a joke on the blonde. He was, after all, always winding him up to get a reaction…and he did set his leg on fire today

"Well, if it was me who suddenly kissed Iruka, I would likely be slapped. But if it was Iruka who kissed me, I don't think I would mind at all really…hypothetically speaking of course…"

"Uhh, okay sensei…but it doesn't help to know that; it wasn't really an answer…" His student was looking at him strangely now….ahokay soo…honesty isn't always the best policy

"Never mind, it was just a thought I guess…bye Kakashi Sensei!" Naruto turned and hurried off to his apartment.
