Chapter 4: New Friends

"Oi, you there! Don't just stop in the middle of the hall people need to be getting places move it girlie"

Someone shouted from behind me. What was weird was that that particular person was Hufflepuff. I thought they were supposed to be the nice ones? Oh well.

I decided to move to the side then I saw a whole herd of students come barreling onto the train. The whistle started to blow continuously meaning that the train was leaving the station. People were running to and fro trying to get a cabin to themselves.

I just kept walking and tried to spot James, but for the life of me I couldn't find that little snot ball. After 10 minutes of looking, I decided that I already passed it so not sparing anytime I opened the door closest to me. As I slid the door open, it revealed a boy with black shoulder length hair and a girl sitting opposite him with startlingly bright red hair, almost the colour of Autumn leaves and her eyes the colour of turquoise or green or…. Whatever she had really pretty eyes

*Cough, cough* I subtly tried to get the occupants in the carriage to notice my entrance. In an instance I was met with a pair of obsidian black onyx eyes. He had a sallow and pale face, but those eyes told me everything, they were distant but were also weary but annoyance was definitely there too. Looking to the girl she had a very welcome smile and her eyes sparkled.

"Hello, I was wondering if I could sit down in your compartment? I lost my brother and can't seem to find him is that alright?" I looked at both of the two occupants with as much warmth as I could muster.

"Of course! Sit down. Hi I'm Lily and this is my friend Severus"

"Hello my name is Alexandra, how do you do? I hope I wasn't interrupting anything?" I said looking specifically at the boy Severus. Who now was sporting a nice pink glow on his cheeks. I had to smirk at that. Poor lad must really like this girl… what was her name oh Lily that's right. Well she is very beautiful.

"Oh no! You weren't interrupting anything" Lily continued to say in a jovial voice, oblivious to the look on Severus' face.

I looked back at Severus and spoke directly to him this time. "Well, I won't bother you Severus.. or Lily. Your carry on with whatever you were both doing before" Severus' cheeks seemed to get darker by the minute, while Lily was looking out of the window I gave a very brief and faint wink to Severus who in tern started to scowl at me.

The minutes went past in a whirlwind of silence, well for me that is. I had a book perched on my lap while I was also trying to listen to what Lily and Severus were talking about.

"So Alexandra, are you new to this?" Lily said smiling very widely.

New to this? What on earth is this girl talking about. Does she mean talking with people? Does she mean on this train? Oh maybe she means new to magic!

"Do you mean new to magic?" I said in a very smooth voice. Which was my normal voice; very becoming of a young pureblood lady the women's in my mothers charity group would always say to me.

"Yeah. I just found out a few years ago. Severus here saw me in the park doing accidental magic and told me that I was a witch, at the time I thought he was just calling me a nasty name but well here I am… so yeah."

Wow this girl rambles on an on, not a really good thing, tst tst well she is a muggle born after all, who knows what other annoying habits she has.

"No this is not new to me at all, I have been brought up into the wizarding world; I'm a Pureblood."

"Oh ok, wow so you could tell me lots of things about magic right? Do you think I have a disadvantage against people like you? Does it matter that I'm a Muggle born?"

Severus was giving me a look which practically said to keep my mouth shut, or lie otherwise I will kill you. Well I only tell the truth so…..

"Do you want the truth lily….." Severus was now glaring daggers at me "Of course" Lily said.

" Alright well, firstly I do believe that I have an advantage above you and yes I do believe it matters if you are muggleborn. Not to everyone but some yes. And if you are smart then it shouldn't matter if you are muggle born because you would be able to pick up things pretty quickly…" Severus interrupted me.

"Lily's smart, I'm sure she will beat you in all of our classes…." "Sev!" Lily said in a winy but pleased voice "What but you are smart" Severus spoke in a soft voice.

As soon as Severus stared my way I gave him a look which said, ooh someones got a crush on someooone. He turned away from me and started to flush madly.

After that little conversation I went back to reading my book and Severus and Lily went back to talking.

"Anything from the trolly dears?" Once we bought what we wanted from the trolly conversation in our cabin started again.

"So what house do you think you would get sorted into?" Severus said in a not very friendly voice.

"Well I don't know, I will probably go to Gryffindor because that's where my whole family has gone except for the occasional Hufflepuff of Ravenclaw. But personally I think that I will go into Slytherin, I have a gut feeling and well Slytherin and I share certain traits…"

"Oh yeah like what?" Severus said in a rather distasteful tone.

Before I could answer back to Severus someone slammed the compartment door open and 4 boys barreled in.

"There you are Alex, we have been all over for you" * JAMES! *
