One morning, a couple weeks later, I went into the kitchen where Elena and Aunt Jenna are. The news is turned on, and Caroline's mom, the sheriff, talks about the mountain lion. It was the animal terrorizing Mystic Falls. Then the news reporter starts talking.

"Scum ball," Aunt Jenna mutters. "Scum bucket."

"Who are you talking to?" we both ask.

Jenna jerks her head to the TV, and says, "Him."

"The news guy?" questions Elena.

"Also known as Logan 'Scum' Fell. Did your mom ever tell you why I moved away from Mystic Falls?"

"Oh, no way," I chuckle incredulously. "You and him?"

"He's cute," said Elena.

I shake my head in disagreement. "No he isn't."

Jenna agrees with me. "He is not cute. There is nothing cute about him." Then she turns off the television. "What are you doing with that?" she asks Elena, who is cleaning some family heirlooms.

"I went yesterday and got it from the safe deposit box. Mom had told Mrs. Lockwood she would loan it to the Founder's council for their heritage display," Elena answer.

"Is that Grandma Beth's wedding ring?"

"Originally it was great-great-grandma Mary's wedding ring," I inform her with a smile. "Family heirlooms can have some very interesting history."

Jeremy comes in and asks, "How much do you think this stuff is worth? You know, like on e-Bay?" He grabs something and looks at it.

I sigh as Elena grabs it from his hand and says, "You're not going to find out."

"That stuff's Mom and Dad's. You can't just give it away."

"We're not giving it away. It's called a loan, Jeremy," my twin and I tell them. The doorbell then rings. Elena opens the door and pulls Stefan inside. They kiss and head upstairs. I roll my eyes with a smile on my face.

I notice the pocket watch in the box, and I remember it is Jeremy's now. I go upstairs to my room and read. Eventually I get ready for Founder's Party. I walk out into the hallway and hear Elena ask Jeremy, standing in his room, "The pocket watch, where is it?"

"What watch?" Jeremy and I ask her as I walk in.

"The one you stole from Mom's box," Elena replies. "Mrs. Lockwood just called me, freaking out. It was on the list, Jeremy. And she can't find it, and she think she's the one who lost it."

"Maybe she did. Maybe Tyler took it," Jeremy suggests, even though he took what's rightfully his.

"Don't even play that card, Jeremy. You took it. If I go online, am I gonna find it on e-Bay?"

"Elena…" I say warningly.

"Screw you," Jeremy says, standing up and getting the pocket watch. "I would neversell this, okay."

"Then why did you take it?" Elena asks, confused.

I sigh. "Elena, that pocket watch is Jeremy's. It is passed down from father to the firstborn son. Dad's father gave it to him, and now the pocket watch is Jeremy's."

Jeremy hands the pocket watch to Elena and puts on headphones. Elena walks out of the room and stops and turns around at the doorway. "It's still yours, okay. Mom promised Mrs. Lockwood. What do you want me to do?"

"Just take it and get out." Jeremy tells her.

Elena sighs and walks to her room. I look at Jeremy. "I'll get it back," I reassure him. Then I walk out of his room. I grab the pocket watch from Elena, without her realizing, and I bring it back to Jeremy's room and place it on his desk.

"Thanks," Jeremy says quietly.

"No problem, Jer," I smile slightly at him.

I go to the Founder's Party alone, sadly. My lack of a love life. Elena brought Stefan. Caroline brought Damon. Tyler supposedly brought Vicki, but I know that's not going to end well. Matt didn't go with anyone, I realize. I could have gone with him as friends. Too late now. Now I'm going to tag as a third wheel around Stefan.

I walk up with Stefan and Elena, right behind them. They pause at the door, and Mayor Lockwood, Tyler's Dad, walks over and says, "Hey, guys. Come on in!" They walk into the Lockwood Mansion, and I follow them.

A few moments of boredom later, I leave them and roam around. Eventually I bump into Matt.

"Hey, Matt."

"You don't have a date, either?" Matt asks me.

I frown. "Nope, and I am bored out of my mind."

Matt looks over at Stefan and Elena.

I look at him sympathetically. "You'll find someone else eventually, Matt."

"When?" he asks me.

"I don't know. I don't hold all the answers, but, eventually, you will. I'm gonna go roam again, but are you going to be alright?"

"Yeah," Matt answers with a tiny smile.

I see Stefan and Elena walking in to the town registry and I join them.

"Hey. Having fun?" I smile at them.

"Yeah. This town has... interesting history" Stefan said with a smile, and Elena looked at him.

"Yeah. Look at all the familiar names. William Forbes, Benjamin Lockwood. Is that... Stefan Salvatore? And Damon Salvatore?" Elena looked at her boyfriend in confusion.

"The original Salvatore brothers," Damon interrupted from behind us.

I look at Damon for a moment and swallowed slightly. "I should get going. I still haven't danced with anyone"

"Damon won't dance with me" Caroline complained.

"Dance with Stefan." Damon suggested.

"Oh, uh, I don't dance" Stefan shook his head.

"Oh don't be silly. Of course he does. The waltz, the jitterbug, the moonwalk, he does it all."

I smiled a bit at his words and let out a laugh. "I'm gonna go"

I walked away from them and looked around the party. Outside, Tyler was sitting on a bench with Vicki. Neither of them looked like they were having a good time. I hesitated before walking over to them.

"Hey, Tyler. Vicki" I smiled at them.

While I was worried about my brother hanging out with her, I also was concerned about Vicki and the worry she was causing Matt.

"Hey, Lyss" Tyler smiled at me. He looked over at Vicki.

"Are you both enjoying the party?"

"Well, I live here. It's kind of hard to enjoy."

Vicki scoffed and looked away. I felt bad for her. Tyler could be a real big dick. Especially to those who care about him.

"It's alright. I haven't been inside yet. And Ty doesn't want to walk around. But I'm... fine" Vicki said. "Now go back to your sister and the ones who fawn over the two of you"

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. "Fawn over? Look, I don't mean to cause trouble. You just looked a little down. So I wanted to check on you"

"That's nice of you, Lyss" Tyler nodded.

"Right. Well, I should go." I smiled and left them before going back inside. Part of me just wanted to go home. Skip this Founders Party. But it was the Founder's Party. And I am part of a founding family.

Soon I gave in and went home.
