Title: Book 1: Out of the Water

Disclaimer: I don't own A;TLA, it belongs to Mike and Bryan. This story isn't making me money so please don't sue me. I also go this idea form a story I read called Cause and Mass Effect, go read it if you haven't already.

We packed our stuff and got onto Appa. Once we got onto the air bison he began to swim in the direction of Zuko's ship. We sailed for about 10 minutes and Appa never seemed to get out of the water and fly. After a while Sokka started to get annoyed.

"Go, Fly, Soar." Sokka said with an annoyed voice.

"Please Appa," Katara said from her position on Appa's head "We need your help, Aang needs your help."

"Up, ascend, elevate." Sokka said. "That's not gonna work idiot." I said. Sokka turned to me and looked at me furiously "I don't see you helping!"

Katara turned back to Appa "Sokka doesn't believe you can fly, but I do Appa" she said while getting closer to his face and petting him "Comon don't you wanna save Aang?" Appa let out growl.

"What was it that kid said?" Sokka asked "Yee-ha? Hup-Hup? Uh…"

"Alright, I'm tired of this we're losing time." I said "Appa, Yip-Yip." Appa started shaking and began to flap his long beaver like tail. Before we knew it we were up in the air. "You did it Zero!" Katara yelled to me.

"Yeah I'm that good." I said giving here a thumbs up.

"He's flying!" Sokka screamed, "He's flying! Katara he's…" Sokka looked back at his sister who was looking back at him with a grin. "I mean whatever, he's flying." He said looking down at the blue ocean we were flying over.

After five minutes of flying we could see in the distance what looked like a ship. "I think that's our ship." I said pointing at the black speck in the distance. "Hold on Aang" Katara said, "We're coming." As we got closer to the ship I could see bursts of fire on the ship's deck. I saw Zuko and Aang fighting and Aang was starting to lose. He jumped on the edge of the ship and Zuko threw a volley of fire blasts at Aang until Aang fell off the boat into the cold water below.

"Aang! No!" Katara yelled

"Keep yelling his name!" I told her. She continued yelling Aang's name and I knew it would wake him and get him into the Avatar state. Then out of nowhere, a giant cyclone of water shoot out of the sea. It was Aang and he brought himself back onto the ships deck. As he landed on the deck he swirled the water around him and hit all the soldiers, with Zuko falling of the side of the ship.

"Did you see what he just did?" Katara asked.

"Now that was some waterbending." Sokka exclaimed.

"That was crazy." I said. Even though I had known what was going to happen it was still amazing to see through my very own eyes. As we descend onto the deck of the ship I could see Aang's tattoos start to fade from the glowing white color back to there original blue and he fell onto the deck. Appa landed on the deck and we all jumped off of the air bison and ran toward Aang.

"Aang!" Katara yelled while rushing over to his side "Are you okay?" We all knelt down next to Aang and he slowly opened his eyes.

"Hey Katara, Hey Sokka, thanks for coming." He said weakly.

"Well I couldn't let you have all the glory." Sokka said with a smile.

Aang turned to still a little drowsy. "Who are you?" he asked.

"I'll explain later first let's get you off this ship." I said helping him up.

"I dropped my staff." Aang said. "Got it!" Sokka yelled running toward the staff on the ground.

"Sokka," I yelled, "Watch out for…" As I was about to finish a hand grabbed the staff just as Sokka picked it up. "Zuko." I finished.

Sokka managed to hit Zuko enough to get him to let go of the staff and he fell again.

"Ha!" Sokka yelled down the side of the ship "That's from the water tribe!"

While me and Katara helped Aang onto Appa's head I could hear some of the Fire Nation soldiers waking up. "Katara, can you deal with them please." as I put Aang on the head of Appa. She started to water bend and the Fire Nation soldiers seemed very scared. As she finished her movements she flung the ice backwards and she caught Sokka in here ice trap. "Katara!" Sokka yelled.

"Katara, try that again but so it backwards." I yelled. She nodded and did the same movements and froze the Fire Nation soldiers behind her just as they were about to reach her.

I helped Katara climb back onto Appa's back. "Hurry up Sokka!" Katara yelled. "We need to go now!" I yelled to him also. He started breaking the ice covering his feet with his boomerang and eventually got free and picked up the staff and ran up Appa's tail. "Yip-Yip" he shouted as he got onto Sokka's back. We took of and began flying away.

I was looking back down onto the ship and I could see Iroh helping Zuko back onto the ship. "Oh shit." I thought to myself. As the thought ran through my mind a giant ball of fire came toward us. "Uh, guys." I said pointing toward the flames. When I finished my sentence Aang jumped to the back of Appa and with his staff redirected the ball with a giant blast of air. The fireball hit the giant glacier next to us and ice and water exploded all over the ship. It wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. We all cheered and flew away from the ship.

Once we had flown for about 15 minutes and we had made sure Zuko wasn't following us, Aang asked me about who I was.

"So who are you, are you someone else from the water tribe?"

"No, I'm not from the water tribe." I said looking up from under my hood. "My name is Zero, I came here from a different place. I was brought here to help you three with something."

"What is it?" they all asked in unison.

"I'm here to help you win this war against the Fire Nation." I said not changing tone.

"How are you gonna do that?" Sokka asked.

"I have a certain…set of skills that can help you." I said.

"What type of skills are these?" Sokka asked me through slanted eyes.

"We can discuss that at a later time for now lets talk about something else."

Katara turned and looked toward Aang sitting on one of the edges of the saddle on Appa's back.

"How did you do that?" she asked bewildered "With the water? It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen!"

"I don't know," Aang said "I just sorta…did it."

"Why didn't you tell us you were the Avatar?" Katara asked.

"Because," he paused for a second "I never wanted to be." There was silence for a good 10 seconds no one really knowing how to react to his statement.

Finally Katara spoke up. "But Aang, the worlds been waiting for the Avatar to return and finally put an end to this war."

"And how am I going to do that?" Aang asked.

"Isn't the Avatar the master of all elements?" I responded.

Aang looked back at me and nodded.

"So you need to first master water, than earth, then fire."

"Yeah," he said, "that's what the monks told me."

"Well," Katara said, "If we go to the North Pole you can master waterbending."

"We can learn it together!" Aang exclaimed now a bit more perked up then he was before.

"And Sokka," Katara said, "I'm sure you'll get to knock some firebender heads along the way."

"I'd like that" Sokka said smiling "I'd really like that."

"And Zero we can accustom you to some of the water tribe culture since you're new here." She said turning to me.

"That sounds like fun." I said back with a smile.

"Then we're in this together." Katara said.

"Alright," Aang said "But before I learn water bending we have serious business to attend to." He said floating down with a map in his hand.

He put the map down and said "Here, here, and here." Pointing to three places on the map. "What's here?" Katra asked pointing to one of the places on the map.

"Here we'll ride the hoping llamas, then waaay over here we'll surf on the backs of giant coy fish." Me, Katara, and Sokka looked at each other confused.

"Then back over here we'll ride the hog monkeys. They don't like people riding them," he said with wide eyes "but that's what makes it fun!"

"You are one crazy bastard Aang." I said pulling my hood over my head to go take a nap.

I'm on an f**king roll right now. I wrote two chapters within a day of each other, Holy Hell. Whenever I write this story I can't stop until I finish a chapter. Also if you guys could please R&R I just would like to know what people are thinking even if you don't like it and if you have already R&R I wouldn't mind a second time ;).
