I woke up the next morning and I didn't see it coming
Oh, your bags were packed and gone
I called all you friends and they said hadn't seen you yet
Oh, my head's going to explode
~You Me At Six-No One Does It Better
"Oh, it's you," Mikan said as she opened her front door and saw two figures on the other side. "Ruka-pyon, Hyuuga-kun, w-what's going on?"
"Onii-chan what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be over at Ruka's? Did you come here to steal nee-chan from me?" Aoi pouted and crossed her arms.
"Well actually Ruka lives right across the street. Is mum or dad there?" Natsume asked looking over at Mikan marveled at how a plain white piece of fabric cut a certain way could make someone look so amazing.
"Um, no they went out with my mum to buy some stuff. They should be back later, you're welcome to stay and wait for them if you want," Mikan took over the conversation ignoring Natsume's obvious stare.
"Mikan I-I actually came to ask about Hotaru. Did she go out of town for the summer?" Ruka asked nervously fiddling with his thumbs and looking down.
Natsume was the only one to notice the small sad smile that Mikan gave Ruka when he mentioned her best friend. She recovered quickly, though, and smiled again, "She's still at home for a couple of weeks. Do you have a pen?"
"Yeah, here," Natsume offered she smiled at him and her eyes didn't linger long like most girls' would. but his still did, on every inch of her,
Mikan took Ruka's hand and began writing on it, "She's been complaining about how bored she is lately so your visit will be good. Here's her address and a book she been wanting. If she slams the door in your face after taking the goods tell her you're taking her out for sea food. She loves crab and its half price at Ramones's today," she beamed at him and returned his hand, "Good luck! Fighting!" She cheered after him as he made his way across the street and went into his car.
Ruka pulled out of his drive way and stopped in front of Mikan house, "Take care of Natsume for a bit," he hollered out his window before heading of to Hotaru's.
Tsubasa arrived looking a bit surprised, probably because both of the Hyuuga's were on Mikan's front lawn. Mikan took notice of her guests, "Oh! Tsubasa-sempai! Yo-chan! Welcome!"
"This is H-uh," she cut off mid-sentence and tip-toed to whisper into Natsume's ear, "Is it okay if I call you by your first name?"
Natsume only nodded trying not to seem excited by her proximity, "Okay, sorry, this is Natsume and Aoi Hyuuga," Mikan introduced them to her new guests.
The younger of the two boys spoke up first, "Nice to meet you Hyuuga-cha-"
Aoi cut him off mid-sentence, "Call me Aoi," she beamed at him and stretched out her hand towards him.
Youchi was a bit taken aback by her sudden interruption, "Oh, okay. Aoi, my name is Youchi," he took her hand and shook it, "This is my older brother Tsubasa."
Aoi smiled at the blue haired older boy and introduced herself. During the introduction period Mikan finally took notice of Natsume. Her eyes began to travel down from his face. He was wearing a plain white t-shirt that fit just right, she could she the outline of nearly every muscle in his torso. He had on some faded Levi's and tennis shoes, her eyes traveled back upward to his dark hair that had been tousled by the summer breeze and his blood red eyes followed her olive green ones. When their eyes met it made Mikan shiver under his gaze and it made her blush that he had caught her so obviously staring at him.
"Mi-chan, are you alright? Your face is all red," Tsubasa asked gesturing at her cheeks.
"Yeah, I'm fine," she smiled, "It's just kind of hot out, let's go to the back."
Natsume saw right through her lie, but asked no questions and followed her to her backyard. There were four lawn chairs set up by the on the side of the pool that was closest to the house. On the other side of the rectangular pool a small lawn table with two chairs was set up. A lidded pitcher of lemonade and two glasses turned upside down were already at the table. Mikan led Aoi and Youchi to the table and set the cookies down. she brought back a couple of cookies on a paper plate that she offered the guys before she sat down on the chair in between Tsubasa and Natsume.
The air was kind of tense, but Mikan broke it easily, "Did they do the joke with you too, Natsume-kun?"
"Which one?" Natsume asked raising a brow in question.
"The one where they tell you we are getting married when we get older." A small blush crept up to Mikan's face.
Tsubasa began choking on the cookie he was eating as soon as he heard that. "Are you okay?!" Mikan asked a bit panicked with her brows furrowed together in concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Tsubasa answered after coughing a bit.
Natsume gave one of his trademark smirks, "It wasn't a joke, they had actually planned it."
"What?! Oh God, well good thing they can't make us."
Mikan began to talk about the release of a new album by her favorite band to Tsubasa and to be honest Natsume didn't mind being ignored. He watched her intently looking at all her facial expressions and gestures. When she talked about a song she favorited she would light up and talk fast and use lots of hand motions, but whenever a song she wasn't particularly interested in came she you could see it in the way she wasn't as bubbly as with the others. he continued to watch her until she finally turned to him, "Natsume, what's a band you like or what kind of music are you into?"
Natsume thought for a second and came up blank, "I like nearly everything but I've been listening to this band called You Me At Six lately," He spoke lazily and casual, much like the weather.
"Oooh!" Mikan let out a small excited squeal, "I really like that band too!"
They got into a heated discussion about the band and the members and the release date of the new album. It was Tsubasa's turn to be ignored and admire Mikan quietly. She could seriously talk forever and about nearly anything.
"I've been trying to learn how to play 'Crash' on the guitar or piano, but man do I suck at it."
That made Natsume laugh softly. He was ready to start talking again when he noticed Aoi and Youchi had approached them and were standing in front of them, "Mikan-nee, Yo-kun says that the Lorax isn't a good movie. Tell him his insane!"
"Oh my, Yo-chan have you not seen it?" Youchi refrained from shaking his head,
Mikan stood from her chair and smiled, "Everybody, inside."
Everyone stood and followed her inside after picking up outside. She led them through the front door, "Make yourselves at home," she said before disappearing into the kitchen and then returning with two bowels of popcorn. She sat on the bigger of the two couches between Natsume and Tsubasa after handing one of the bowels to the younger teens on the opposite end of the room.
Mikan picked up the remote turning on the television and setting up the Netflix. She clicked on something and 'The Lorax began playing. After a while Mikan kept constantly looking at the time on her phone. Natsume leaned closer to his right to whisper near her ear, "Gotta be somewhere?" He asked softly, scaring her slightly.
"Yeah, work. Can you take care of Aoi until our parents get back I'm sure they won't be much longer," Mikan stood from the couch and headed upstairs.
She returned in black jeans and a royal blue shirt with the dominos emblem above the breast pocket. She tied her black convers at the end of the stairs and came back into the living room. Her hair had been pulled up into a pony tail that was underneath her dominos cap. She proceeded to peck Aoi, Youchi, and Tsubasa on the cheek. She stopped at Natsume who still stared at the screen, she wasn't sure of how to say goodbye to him so she just awkwardly patted his head and grabbed her keys. "You guys can finish the movie and leave when you're ready. I'll be back later."
Her guest said goodbye as she closed the front door behind her.
"So we both know you were watching her this morning," Tsubasa spoke quietly but confidently.
"Yeah, I was. Who wouldn't, what she can do is admirable."
Tsubasa snorted at his choice of words, "You better not get any bright ideas for this summer," he ended the conversation with a deadly glare that if Natsume wasn't the one on the receiving end of it anyone else would be dead.
After that the atmosphere had gotten so tense it was even hard to breath. Tsubasa left with Youchi soon after the film was over after he had agreed it wasn't that bad.
Natsume was left alone to take of his sister in Mikan Sakura's house. Oh this was bound to be an interesting night.
I had been planning on making this chapter longer but I need to work on chapter five a little more bc originally Aoi was supposed to be younger but I decided against it. Anyway tell me how you like the chapter and I'll see you all next time~~
