I managed to convince Logan back on the table, peacefully, and try doing what I'd planned on doing before he'd freaked out.

"I'm sorry." He told me and I looked at him confused.

"For what?" I asked him.

"If I hurt you." He said and I smiled at him.

"Don't worry. I've had worse." I assured him.

"So... couldn't wait to get my shirt off again, could you?" he said smirking at me and I laughed.

"What can I say, I love a good-looking specimen." I said before sending the table into the machine.

After the scans came in, I sat with Storm, Cyclops, Jean and dad.

"The metal's called adamantium. Supposedly unbreakable. It's been grafted to his entire skeleton." I said looking at Logan's metallic x-rays.

"How could he survive such an operation?" Storm asked amazed.

"His regenerative mutation is uncharted. I've never seen an ability like his before. Only problem is that it makes his age impossible to determine." I told them.

"Who did this to him?" Cyclops asked and I shrugged.

"There's another problem. He doesn't remember." I said. "And he has no memory of what his life was like before it happened."

"Experimentation on mutants." Dad said. "It's not unheard of. But I've never seen anything like this before."

"Someone one to make something unstoppable, but they didn't want him to know about it." I said.

"What could Magneto want with him?" Storm asked.

"I'm not exactly sure it's him Magneto wants." Dad said staring at the scans, never letting us in on his thoughts.

That night, I showed Logan where his room was.

"So, this is it." I told him. "I hope you'll be comfortable enough to stay here."

"Where's your room?" he asked me while opening a closet door.

"On the other side of this wall." I said pointing to the adjoining wall.

"What abilities do you have?" he asked and I smiled.

"My name didn't give it away?" I asked him. "I can copy other mutants' abilities."

"What kinds of things?" he asked me.

All kinds of things. I told him in his mind as I slammed the closet doors shut.

"So, you're like a sponge?" he asked me and I laughed lightly.

"I can pick and choose which abilities I copy." I corrected. "But when I was a kid I had to be kept away from some people, because I couldn't control them properly.

"So, read my mind." He dared me getting closer.

"I'd rather not." I laughed.

"Why? 'Fraid you might like it?" he asked, smirk firmly in place.

"Maybe." I said. I put my hands on the side of his head and closed my eyes. I tried going into his mind, but all I saw were flashes of military men and Logan under some water, awake.

"What do you see?" he whispered to me.

"Military and you under water." I told him. "Must have been the experimentation."

"Must have." He said quietly. "Have you ever let anyone inside your mind?"

"My dad and Jean, but that was before I could control my powers." I said.

"Let me in." he told me.

"Why would I do that?" I asked him.

"I let you in my mind. It's only fair." He told me and I nodded.

"True. Technically you dared me to read your mind." I told him.

"True." He said.

"Good night, Logan." I said turning and walking out of the room.

"Night Echo."

"SOMEBODY HELP!" I woke up and leaped out of bed going for Logan's room. I got there in time to see Rogue reach out and touch Logan's skin. Suddenly, age lines appeared on Logan and he gasped in pain, but stood still. The wounds on Rogue's back healed as she touched him. The other students and Ororo entered behind me. Finally, Logan collapsed convulsing and Jean, Scott and I moved to help him.

"Scott, grab a pillow!" Jean told him.

"It was an accident." Rogue told Storm, but the woman just stared in shock at the girl who ran from him.

"Rogue!" I called for her. I looked down to see Logan before looking back where Rogue had been.
