Finn's eyelids were forced open as Éponine was pulling them apart. In a hushed whisper she asked "Are you awake?" Finn moaned "yeah of course I am." She smiled "nice cause I want pancakes Daddy." Finn rolled over looking at the time it was only 6 a.m. "Well I'll tell you what. We are going to eat with Uncle Kurt and Blaine in a little bit. So how about I get up and we will go downstairs and watch something for a while so mommy can sleep another hour?" Finn told her. "Okie doke" the little girl agreed. Finn rolled out of bed and they headed down stairs. He turned on the television to a network playing cartoons for Ellie to watch. He walked to the bathroom and when finished in there he got himself and Ellie some orange juice. He never really developed the taste for coffee. It always just tasted like drinking dirt no matter how much sugar was in it. Rachel however had to have a cup every morning before she could even function, so he started a pot of coffee for her.

He joined his daughter on the couch. After an episode of her favorite television show Olaf's adventure. He decided to call his mom. She usually woke up pretty early, so he figured he would give her a call to confirm the plans for the day. The phone rang and then she answered "Good morning dear, you're up early!" his mother sounded cheerful. "Well Rachel is still sleeping, but Ellie slept with us last night so she woke me up as soon as she woke up." Finn explained. "That's what being a parent will do to you. You have to adjust to their schedule." "Yeah you really do. So mom you all set to watch Ellie for the day?" Finn asked. "Yea. Burt is really excited we are going to take her to a baseball game. Do you think it would be okay if she could stay the night? We aren't sure what time we will be done." "Yeah of course! Well let me ask her first real fast." Finn held the phone away from his face.

"Sweetpea, do you want to stay the night with nannie…?" Before he could even finish his sentence Ellie answered. "Yes! Yess! I have fun at nannies. We bake and play and grandpa teach me new stuff." She went on and on as she jumped up running to her room to pack. Finn put the phone back to his ear "it took a lot of convincing, but I finally got her to agree." Finn smiled "You jerk, well jokes on you because I could hear her excited high pitch voice in the background." Carol told him. "So is it good to drop her off at ten because the clinic is in Cleveland and we have to make it there by one. The appointment isn't till two, but we have to be there an hour early so they can prep her." "Yeah that sounds great." "Thank you. I have to go mom. I have to go help Ellie pack and wake up Rachel." Finn said. "Alright honey. I'll see you when you get here." Finn hung up the phone. He went to his daughter's room where he saw she already had two bags crammed full of her stuffed animals. "Ellie we have talked about this you can't take all your stuffed animals. You have to only pick one, so you can have room for clothes, PJs, and shoes. You only need one bag not two." Finn explained to her. "I take him." Ellie said grabbing her bunny. Finn smiled.

It was about a few months after they brought their baby girl home from the hospital. Ellie was a horrible crier, when they moved her crib out of there room into her nursery, she did not apparently like being alone in a room. Carol told them they needed to have her self soothe herself or it was only going to make the detachment harder. She wouldn't stop crying one night. He was walking to his room when he looked down the hall and saw Rachel was sitting outside Ellie's room. He went Finn went up to the attic and grabbed a box from his childhood. He found it. Finn walked toward Rachel with an old stuffed bunny in his hands. She looked up at him. "What is that?" "This is Mr. Whiskers he was my favorite stuffed animal when I was a younger. I stopped playing and carrying him around when I got older because it wasn't exactly super cool to have toy bunny being a boy and all. I always kept him in my closet though. I think I am going to go in there and give it Ellie. It might help make her not feel so alone." Finn told Rachel. "That is the cutest thing I have ever heard." Rachel said standing up. Finn went in Ellie's room her eyes were filled with tears. He wanted to pick her up and sing her a lullaby, but he knew he couldn't. He put the bunny in the crib with her, but at her feet. He leaned down by her head and told her "no matter what sweetpea your mom and I are always with you." When he walked out she didn't cry for the rest of the night.

"That's a good choice." Finn told Ellie. "I'll put all your animals back on your bed. I'll have your mom come down in a minute to help you pick some clothes. Go brush your teeth and hair for me please." Finn kissed his daughters head. She ran to her bathroom. "Thank you!" Finn yelled after her. He grabbed Rachel a hot cup of coffee with two sugars and some crème. He went in his room to find his wife in the shower. He set the cup on the bathroom counter. "Rach your coffee is on the counter." "Thank you." Rachel said peaking her head out of the curtain. "Words can't describe how much I wanna hop in that shower with you right now." Finn said as he kissed her. "Good morning to you to" Rachel smiled "but sadly not today."

"Well I am going to help Ellie finish getting ready. Will you be down in a minute to help her pick out an outfit?" Finn asked. "Yeah. Where are Carol and Burt taking her again? Just so I can think of ideas for what she should wear." Rachel answered. "They are taking her to a baseball game. So nothing to fancy." "I will never understand how a daughter of mine loves sports so much." "Well she does have some of me in her too dear." Finn said as he walked out of the bathroom. He went to Ellies room where he found her sitting patiently on her bed. "Are your teeth all brushed?" He asked her. "Yes. Hair too, but can you french it?" Finn has mastered many hair style for his daughters' hair, the bun, pony and piggy tails, but he simply never could do French braiding. He had tried, but he could not maneuver the hair the way it was supposed to.

"Well honey.." He heard a knock on the door. "Let me go get that." "Ok daddy I'll be here." She replied. Finn opened the door and in came Kurt. "I thought we were going to meet you at the restaurant for breakfast?" Finn asked. "Well we were, but then I thought why should we take two cars all the way to Cleveland? We can just carpool in our car or yours it doesn't matter." Kurt answered. "Where's Blaine?" Finn asked looking around. "He's in the car on the phone with Copper. Now where is she?" Kurt asked. "Rachel's upstairs finishing getting ready." Kurt heard a shriek down the hall "Uncle Kurt!" the little girl ran towards him.

"Can you imagine if she went an actual week without seeing us?" Kurt said to Finn. Ellie slide to stop at Kurt's feet "Daddy was gonna french my hair." Blaine walked in. "Hi Uncle Blaine." Ellie said hugging him. "Hey cutie." Blaine smiled kneeling down. "He was well you know I can do it if you want chipmunk." Kurt told her. "Yay! You are the bestest at frenchin Uncle Kurt!" Ellie said grabbing his hand leading him to her room. Blaine stood up. "You are the best at frenching Kurt that's for sure!" Blaine yelled at him. "You best believe it!" Kurt yelled back.

"The way she says things. It's just.. It's the most adorable thing because she doesn't even realize it." Blaine told Finn. "I know she just says things so seriously sometimes and it's completely wrong, but you can't laugh because she is just that serious about it you can only nod along." Finn replied. "So are you ready for today?" Finn asked him as they went to sit down on the couch. "Oh yeah.. yeah I'm totally nervous, but that's normal right? Isn't it?" He asked Finn. "Totally dude this is a big day for all of us."

"Some of us more than others." Rachel said coming up behind them walking to the kitchen to put her coffee mug in the sink. When she came back through the living room Blaine got up to give Rachel a big hug. "How are you feeling? No second thoughts because we can still call and cancel everything if you have any." Blaine assured her. "Not a single one" Rachel smiled "I am feeling great. Is Kurt helping Ellie get ready?" She asked them and they nodded. "Oh gosh I still need to call Carol and make sure the plans are all set for the day!" Rachel remembered. "Already done." Finn told her. "What would I do without you?" "Lucky for you you'll never have to find out. Oh Rach, by the way Ellie is going to stay with my parents tonight if that's okay?" "Of course. I'm just going to help Kurt finish getting her ready and make sure everything is packed up to go. "Love you guys!" She said as she walked away.
