Official Disclaimer
The characters of Steve McGarrett, Chin Ho Kelly, Kono Kalakaua, Jenna Kaye, Adam 'Toast' Charles and anyone else within the story who might sound familiar do not belong to me in any shape or form, I am merely using them for my own entertainment purposes.
The character of Danni McGarrett could probably be considered mine by now. Although the character was originally based on male Danny Williams I think it's probably to say that she is now her own individual character. She has her own story and her own individual background now, a background and story which is different from male Danny's story. This also means that Grace is different as well since not only does she live full time with her mother but also because Danni and Duncan have a fairly civil relationship with each other. Grace's surname is also Taylor in this saga as Williams is Danni's maiden name while Taylor was her married name.
The characters of Rosie Lange, Riley King, Jack O'Connor, Rowan McGarrett, Oliver McGarrett and David Williams do belong to me though.
I should also add that if a character is mentioned who you don't recognise from the show then they probably belong to me as well.
Author Note
Here is the fourth chapter for you all.
This story is definitely a feel-good family story so we hope you enjoy this!
I've based Rowan's talking ability on my own niece who was able to have proper conversations when she was 3 (she's now 4) which is why Rowan seems advanced.
We've certainly have enjoyed writing it!

Chapter Four
Friday Morning – At the McGarrett Home
"Mamma? Da? Wake up! Wake up!"
Danni blinked slowly, groaning as wakefulness flooded her system. She felt tired, her limbs heavy telling her that she was up far sooner than her body originally planned for. Forcing her eyes open she lifted her head from the pillow, twisting round slightly so she could see the doorway. She wasn't surprised when her eyes landed on Rowan though she was surprised to see the small girl with her hands on her hips and a pout on her face making Danni wonder how long the small toddler had stood there waiting for one of her parents to wake up.
"Rowan? What's wrong baby?" Danni asked softly, knowing without even looking that Steve was still fast asleep next to her. The activities of the night clearly wearing him out as much as they had worn her out.
"Wake up time Mamma" Rowan replied, tilting her head and looking towards the bed with a considering look which told Danni that Rowan was moments away from launching herself at the bed.
It was a relief that they had pulled the duvet up sometime during the night covering their nakedness. Normally they locked the door during occasions like this to avoid a situation like the one she was currently experiencing from occurring.
She tilted her head to the side when Steve stretched out his body beside her with a loud, heartfelt groan, his eyes opening slowly, squinting in the sunlight coming through the curtains. She couldn't stop the smile which came to her face when he turned and looked at her, his own mouth curling into a smile at the sight of her.
"Danni" he murmured, his hand emerging from her duvet to wrap around her waist, tugging her over towards him.
"Rowan's at the door beloved" Danni told him softly, watching as Steve stopped tugging, lifting his head and looked towards the door before dropping it back onto the pillow with a sigh. He let go of Danni reluctantly, bringing his hands to his face and ran them down it before he looked back towards her with an apologetic look.
"Sorry love, I thought I had locked the door after going for Ollie" He told her, his voice husky from sleep and misuse, the sound causing her to shiver thought she forced herself to ignore the reaction. Now wasn't the time to do what she wanted to do.
"I think it was probably me, I had to feed Ollie while you were asleep" Danni admitted. Steve raised an eyebrow, opening his mouth to respond but stopped abruptly when Rowan scrambled up onto the bed, clearly bored of being ignored as she looked between them with wide blue eyes, the exact shade of her father's eyes.
"Hug please Mamma?" Rowan demanded hopefully, her eyes fixing on Danni. Rowan had always insisted on starting her day with a long hug from Danni, something which Danni was more than happy to do. She knew that it wouldn't last forever so she was determined to make the most of it while she could. Danni smiled, scooting up the bed making sure that she kept the sheet up high to cover her before she held out her arms to Rowan, laughing happily when Rowan threw herself at Danni, hugging her tightly, her face burying into Danni's neck for a moment before she leaned back and held out her arms to Steve. "Morning Da! Hug please" She asked happily.
"Always Princess" Steve stated as he sat up and took Rowan from Danni, hugging her tightly to him before kissing her on the temple. Enjoying the moment with her before glancing towards his wife who had laid back down on the bed, her head nestled in the pillow as she yawned. "Are you ready for our big adventure today Rowan?" He asked the small girl, turning his attention back to her when she leaned back and nodded at him, her wide smile widening into a grin which made his heart skip at how happy she seemed.
"Lots and lots of adventures Da just like Peter Pan" She exclaimed excitedly. Steve blinked, looking towards Danni when she suddenly laughed, tilting her head and looking towards him.
"Peter Pan?" He mouthed at her in confusion, trying to figure out how the character had ended up in their conversation.
"Da, Peter Pan!" Rowan stated, reaching up and gripping his face forcing it back to her. "He can fly and he has tinker bell and…" She stopped when Danni seemingly took pity on Steve and reached over placing her finger over their daughter's lip with a gentle smile.
"Your Daddy knows who Peter Pan is sweetheart, your sister made him watch it enough times in the past that he can probably tell you what happens word for word" Danni told her. "I think though that its time for us to get some breakfast, I don't know about you Rowan but I'm feeling pretty hungry this morning."
"Me too Mamma" Rowan said instantly with a wide grin at her.
"Good, do you know whether your sister is up yet?" Danni asked, tilting her head to the side, her smile widening when Rowan immediately began jumping up and down on the mattress, an action which caused Steve to groan when the small girl accidentally kneed his leg.
"No, no she's not, I'm going to go and wake her to." Rowan stated as she scrambled off the bed and ran from the room, leaving Steve and Danni alone together. They shared an amused look with each other, knowing that they would soon hear the outraged voice of their eldest girl, who had made her feelings on being woken up early by anyone, abundantly clear in the past.
"Rowan really is fearless if she's willing to go into Gracie's room this early, she clearly gets that from you" Danni remarked with a laugh, resting her head back on the pillow again.
"Why do you always assume she gets it from me?" Steve asked, rolling over and throwing his leg across Danni's, his arm wrapping around her waist as he pulled her close to him. "You're pretty fearless yourself Danni." He pointed out.
"When I'm on the job maybe but not when we're at home" Danni corrected with a shrug. "Besides out of the two of us, you're the one who tends to jump in without asking questions first while I'm more an ask questions and then shoot when there are not other options available kind of girl." She stated. Steve opened his mouth to repute the comment when he stopped, quietly admitting to himself that his wife may have had a point with her comment. He rolled his eyes when Danni laughed softly, knowing that she had won that small discussion. "While I remember, morning beloved" she said, leaning up and kissing him quickly, her eyes flickering automatically towards to the door as she pulled out.
"Morning to you too my Danno" He replied, stealing another kiss from her before he flopped back onto his back, pulling her with him so she was plastered to his side, the contact making him aware again that they were both currently naked. "Did you cover us with the duvet last night because I'm pretty sure we weren't covered by it when we fell asleep." He asked, quirking his eyebrow at her.
"Don't you mean when we both passed out?" Danni corrected dryly before she shook her head. "I thought you were the one who did it, still regardless, it was a good thing we did so that the little one didn't see anything which would have scarred her." She pointed out.
"We would have been hearing about it for days." He agreed, glancing towards the door when a loud, outraged shriek came from the hallway, the words which followed causing them both to laugh.
"Rowan what are you doing? Go away! It's a Saturday! No one gets up this willingly on a Saturday, do not make me tell Mamma and Uncle Steve." Grace yelled.
"But Gracie, its adventure day" Rowan replied happily, clearly unbothered by her older sister ire. Danni shook her head, turning back to Steve.
"Gracie went milder on her then I thought she would" She commented, her smile lingering on her face. "Do you remember the days before Grace was a teenager when she used to always be up before us?"
"How could I forget" Steve said. "She was exactly like Rowan, it's like we exchanged one for the other."
"I wonder if Ollie will be the same." Danni remarked, glancing back towards the door when she heard the familiar sound of two pair of feet suddenly tearing down the hallway in the direction of the master bathroom.
"I'm guessing that Rowan has reminded Gracie where we're heading today" Steve stated, kissing Danni's temple before he reluctantly rolled her off of him and sat up, scratching absently at his chest before he stretched his arms above his head, his eyes focusing on the doorway as Rowan appeared again.
"Mamma! Da! I'm hungry, Mamma please feed me, oh and Ollie smells really stinky." She announced, wrinkling her nose up in disgust as though she was remembering the smell.
"And as quickly as that we're back to being parents" Steve murmured, sounding amused as he leaned down and gave Danni one more kiss before twisting away and picking up his shorts from beside the bed, wriggling them on under the duvet before he pushed it off of him and stood up, glancing down at Danni with a questioning look. "How about I deal with the little man while you get breakfast started?" he suggested, smiling when she nodded at him.
"Well duh Da, you can't cook" Rowan told him, sounding almost pitying for a moment. Steve blinked at her, turning to look at Danni who had buried her face in the pillow, her shoulders shaking making it clear that she was laughing.
"Thank you for the confidence boost Rowan" He remarked dryly, rolling his eyes when Rowan merely flashed him a wide grin before her eyes widen, the smile falling from her face so quickly that it alarmed Steve.
"Daddy, ouchie" She said sounding shocked, a fact supported by her reverting into the seldom other term which she called him by. He blinked, looking down towards the shoulder which she was pointing at, his eyes widening for a brief second when he spotted the bite mark on his shoulder.
He looked back towards Danni, noticing that she was looking at him with a half amused, half embarrassed look on her face.
"Well, hmmm…" Danni began to say before her voice trailed off, leaving her looking at Steve with a pleading look on her face.
"Its okay Rowan, if just something from work, it doesn't hurt me at all" He reassured the small girl, silently asking for forgiveness for his white lie, comforting himself with the knowledge that he couldn't tell their daughter that the mark was from her mommy biting him during the night, not unless he wanted to be bombarded by questions, questions which he had no desire to answer now, or any time soon.
Rowan tilted her head at him thoughtfully as though she was trying to decide whether to drop the subject or not.
Using the distraction Danni quickly pulled on her vest and her shorts before she climbed out of bed, aware of both Steve and Rowan breaking their silent staring contest to look towards her. She moved to Rowan and stopped beside her, picking the small girl up and resting her against her hip, searching her face thoughtfully.
Sometimes it was hard to remember that their baby girl had only turned three years old a few weeks ago, something she placed down to the fact that Rowan had always been advanced when it came to talking, everything else about her from her small frame to her emotions were all that of a toddler though.
"So then" Danni said, swiftly changing the direction of the conversation. "What exactly do you want to have for breakfast today Rowan?" She queried as she brushed a kiss against her cheek.
The small girl remained quiet for a moment, her face screwed up in thought before she spoke.
"Juice… no, no… smoothie please Mamma?" She asked, giving Danni a hopeful look.
Danni watched her for a second before she sighed, turning her attention to Steve with a pointed look which faded into a smile when he merely grinned at her with a shrug, looking extremely smug at Rowan's response.
"Well it's safe to say that you are definitely your father's daughter Ro" She told Rowan who beamed at her in response.
"That's my baby girl" Steve said, kissing Rowan on top of the head before he headed past them into the En-suite where he quickly used the toilet and brushed his teeth, unsurprised to find the room empty when he emerged again. He moved out of the room and down the corridor, entering Rowan's room and crossing the floor, stopping beside the cot which they had placed in there the night before.
He peered over the side to see that Oliver was awake though he was surprised to see the tears running down his son's small, red, scrunched up face. There was no doubt about it that the small boy was extremely unhappy with his predicament. The sight tearing at Steve's heart.
"Ah Olliekins, don't be sad little man, Daddy is here with you." He said as he leaned down and picked the small baby up, holding him close to him, his hand stroking down his back as he moved over to the changing mat. It was still strange to him to see a baby cry as quietly as Oliver did, Rowan has screamed the place down every time she had, had a dirty diaper.
He placed his son on the mat and quickly stripped him of his baby suit and used nappy, he ignored the smell as he cleaned Oliver up and placed on a clean diaper, pulling faces at Oliver as he worked, thankful to see the tears dry up to be replaced with smiled as the small baby stared raptly up at him, his chubby legs kicking at the air when Steve leaned down and blew some raspberries against his bare tummy.
"Mamma wanted me to let you know that your coffee is ready Uncle Steve" Grace said from the doorway, grinning at him when he glanced over his shoulder towards her before she disappeared again, clearly intent on getting somewhere, though where that was, he didn't know, it was always hard to tell these days.
"Thanks for the message Grace" Steve called out after her before he focused his attention back on Oliver, dressing him in a pair of shorts and a blue t-shirt which made his pale blue eyes look all the bluer. "Looks like we're ready to go little man" He told his son who burbled back at him as though he was responding to him. He picked him up, kissing the baby on his temple before he turned and left the room heading towards the stairs, intent on getting to the kitchen as quickly as possible. He sniffed the air in appreciation as he entered the room. "What for breakfast then?" He queried, glancing around him with a questioning look.
"We are having smoothies which you're making by the way and some oatmeal which I've been making. I get the feeling that we're probably going to need the energy for today." Danni answered him in a brisk manner as she waved her hand towards the blender which she had already set up for him to use.
Steve grinned as Rowan shot him a pleading look from where she sat impatiently in her chair, sipping at a glass of milk. He stopped beside Danni and kissed her before she handed Oliver over to her, his grin widening at the squeal of delight which escaped the small boy at the sight of his Mamma.
"Leave the smoothies to me" He stated as he turned back to the fridge and freezer and pulled out what he needed from both of them before stepping over to the blender and adding the ingredients and hitting the start button. The mixture of yoghurt and fruit was always a family favourite so the sound of the huge blender roaring into life was not an unfamiliar sound to them all.
"Did you add the strawberries to it Uncle Steve? The smoothies are never the same when you don't add them, at least not to me." Grace commented as she popped her head round the door, her voice raised so she could be heard.
"Do you think I'm an amateur at this Gracie, of course I added strawberries. I know my girls." Steve replied back, the responding cheer to the comment causing Danni to smile from where she still stood by the stove, stirring the oatmeal with one hand and bouncing Oliver at the same time.
"Don't forget to save me one as well Steve. A certain little man of ours is in need of some food of his own." Danni said when Oliver tilted his head, nuzzling his face against her with a small keening sound which meant that he was hungry. "Can someone keep an eye on the oatmeal please, it's nearly ready" She told them, looking around the three of them and waiting until Grace nodded at her before she turned and headed out of the room, making her way through the house until she was in the nursery. She stepped over Rowan's toys, making a mental note to ask the small girl to clean them up, before she sat in the old rocking chair, pulling her top down and giving Oliver access to what he needed.
It was mere moments later when Steve entered the room, holding a full glass which he placed on the small table beside the rocking chair.
"Grace is taking care of the oatmeal, I went to do it but she stopped me saying that I made it too lumpy when I did it."
Danni made a sound of amusement at the tone of outrage which had come to his voice, glancing at him in time to watch the disgruntled look on his face. There was no doubt that Steve was amazing at the grill and during BBQs, just as he was amazing at making them a selection of extremely tasty smoothies and milkshakes, it was just the small fact that he wasn't quite as skilled when it came to normal cooking, something which they had all learned the hard way in the past.
"Well I hate to break the news to you beloved but you do make it lumpy" She pointed out, shrugging one shoulder making sure not to disturb Oliver. "You end up getting impatient with it and as a result you don't let it cook for as long as it needs to."
He shrugged as he watched her feed their son, knowing that it was true,
"I do fine with it, I think we've all just been spoiled by your cooking, that's the problem." He grumbled, his eyes twinkling in amusement before he changed the subject. "So, are you ready for some fun later on?"
"Well that all depends on the type of fun you're referring to you because the answer to both different scenarios would be a yes." She answered wink at him, her heart soaring when she heard him laugh in response.
"Well I meant fun that could be enjoyed by all the family, not just the two of us." He said with a grin.
"What sort of family fun?" She questioned.
"A fun boat ride over to the island followed by a tour of Pearl Harbour, after that you will probably take Grace shopping as she will be desperate by that stage while I take Rowan and Ollie down to the beach to wait until you are both finished, then we can figure out what to do since there will be plenty of time left." He commented.
"All of that sounds great, I can't wait to get started" She admitted, leaning back and resting her head against the chair with a thankful sigh, her eyes still fixed on him. "We really need this holiday, it's been way too long since we've managed to do something with the four of us which hasn't been interrupted by work or someone needing us. Sorry, I meant the five of us now, can't forget Ollie now" She corrected herself with a smile, glancing down when Oliver let go of her nipple clearly finished with his feed.
Danni adjusted her top, taking the blue towel which Steve passed to her and placed it against her shoulder before she lifted Oliver up and rested him against it, rubbing her hand against his back, trying to dislodged any wind he might have had.
"That is true but its because we're saving for the big holiday at the end of the year, we just got to remember that we'll be gone for six weeks where we can just be a family with no one being able to reach us." He reminded her as he leaned down and kissed the top of her head softly. "You finish up here with Ollie while I go and check on the girls. Once we've eaten, we can head off."
"Sounds good" Danni said in agreement, watching as he left the room.
For the next hour, the house was a flurry of activities as they finished their breakfast and began bringing their bags down to the car. Steve placed them in the back and secured them down. They checked everything three times to make sure they had everything before they spoke to their neighbours on either side of them, telling them that they were going away and eliciting promises from them that they would look out for anything suspicious while they were gone. They bundled into the car and reversed out of the drive way, taking the way which would lead them to the marina.
Danni sighed happily as she rolled down the window, enjoying the warm breeze against her skin for a moment before she turned her attention to Steve, pleased to see the tension easing out of her husband's face making him looking years younger. He would never admit it out loud but she knew him well enough to know just how much he had needed this break away from all the responsibility he carried around with him as head of Five-O. For the next four days he could focus solely on being a father and a husband and nothing else.
She glanced over her shoulder to the backseat, her smile softening when she saw that Grace was entertaining Rowan by pointing at things outside the window and explaining them to her in a quiet voice while Oliver sat in his car seat, his eyes drifting shut though he kept trying to force them open, the soft vibrations from the car engine clearly putting him to sleep. Grace glanced up and caught her eye with a thoughtful look which translated into the tone of her voice.
"Mamma, can I ask you something?" She queried.
"You can always ask me anything Grace" Danni responded instantly.
"I just been curious why Uncle Steve always drives the car when we're in it together? I mean you can drive as well right but you never seem to anymore" Grace asked with an expectant look at her.
Danni blinked at her, taken aback by the randomness of the question before she turned to glance towards Steve, sharing a look with him before she nodded at him, picking up on the expression in his eyes, asking whether he should answer the question.
"I feel more comfortable when I'm in the driver's seat of any car Gracie, it's nothing against your mother's driving because as much as it pains me to admit she's a very good driver. I tend to get car sick if I'm in the passenger or back seat and Danni doesn't. We don't want to start the holiday with me being sick, do we?" He pointed out, grinning when Grace laughed at the remark.
"Thar would be the last thing any of us would want to see Uncle Steve." Grace replied with feeling before she pulled out her iPod from her small bag and turned it on, placing her earphones into her ear, making it clear that the conversation was over in her eyes.
Danni shook her head as she turned back to the front, glancing back towards her husband when he reached out and took her hand in his, interlocking their fingers together and resting them on his thigh, his eyes never moving from the road. Steve was normally a reckless driver, fast and focused on his target, a target which more often then not was a criminal they were hunting down but that changed the minute one of the children was in the car with them. At that point he would obey every single road law there was, keeping within the speed limit and never taking any risks. If Danni ever needed something to make her laugh, she would picture the faces of their team mates the very first time they had been in the car with Steve when he had picked up Rowan from her nursery school or had Oliver with him for some reason. An expression of shock and disbelief was the best way she had to describe it.
"Da, can we go climbing?" Rowan demanded from the backseat.
"Not today Sweetheart" Steve answered. "We're going to have enough on our plate to keep us busy. You will get to see plenty of boats and big ships though and then afterwards we can go to the beach and build sandcastle on it. How does that sound?"
"Yay! Maybe we can swim as well" Rowan responded happily with a clap of her pudgy little hands, causing him to chuckle. Rowan's love of the ocean and swimming was only bested by his own.
"Maybe we can go swimming, we'll have to see because we'll be with Ollie and he may be just a bit too young to go into the ocean yet. Once your Mamma and Grace are with us and can look after him then maybe we can but we'll see." Steve told the young girl, shooting Danni an innocent look when she rolled her eyes at him.
"You know sometimes I wonder whether Rowan has any of my DNA in her at all" Danni remarked, making sure to keep her voice low so none of the children in the back would hear her comment. "I think I birthed a female version of your when we had her."
Steve looked at her, squeezing down on her hand.
"I'm not sure whether the house could manage any more mini mes, the next kid we have will be a mini you in personality to counter balance everything." He promised her, winking at her when she laughed at the comment.
"One mini you is enough that's for sure if we want the house to remain standing. I haven't forgotten that science experiment that you did with Grace the other month, the one which exploded everywhere? That stuff even hit the ceiling and it took a long time to clean it all up" She said, a slight hint of disapproval to her voice.
"I helped clean it up and besides Grace ended up getting an A in that project so the means justified the end, right?" He countered serenely, safe in the knowledge that she couldn't argue that point even if she wanted to.
"That is true" Danni said with a smile, glancing back once at her eldest before she turned away and focused her own attention on the scenery passing outside her window, her mind running through the things they could do over the next four days which would keep everyone entertained.
She blinked when Steve parked up the car at the docks and spoke.
"We're here guys" He stated, letting go of Danni's hand and killing the engine before pushing his own door open and climbed out, keys in hand as he headed towards the trunk. Danni followed him out of the car, moving to the back door and opened it, leaning in and unclipping Rowan's seatbelt, lifting the small girls into her arms as she stepped back, hugging Rowan close to her, she buried her nose into her daughter's dark hair for a moment before dropping a kiss on the top of it and smiling when Rowan threw her arms around Danni's neck and snuggled closer. "So, there she is, our home for the next four days, what do you think?" Steve asked, a proud tone to his voice as he waved his hand to the side of him.
Danni glanced around, her eyes widening when she saw that he was indicating a yacht beside them, a yacht which was large and spacious and look comfortable.
"Steve are you serious? Who does this belong to?" She asked him, her eyes narrowing when she caught sight of the grin on her face.
"It doesn't matter who this belongs to Ku'u Lei, all that matters right now is that it belongs to us for the next four days." He told her firmly. Grace looked around her with a rare look of awe before a sound which sounded remarkably like a squeal of delight escaped her mouth as she turned and walked quickly towards the yacht. Danni stared at Steve, aware that Rowan had tilted her head back to look at her. "Everything that we need for the trip has already been put on board so there shouldn't be anything that we need that we don't have." Steve added, adjusted Oliver's car seat from one hand to the other.
Danni blinked moving towards him, she stopped in front of him, going up on her tiptoes and wrapped her hand round the back of his neck, pulling him down so she could kiss him gently on the mouth, pulling back reluctantly aware that their two youngest children were still with them while the eldest was running around happily on the deck of the boat, clearly waiting for them to join her so they could explore inside.
"This is incredible Steve, thank you" She said with a smile.
"Anything for you and the kids my love." He replied softly, leaning back in so he could kiss her again. "I'm guessing from your reaction that you like the surprise I arranged?" He questioned, grinning when she nodded at him, the same look of awe on her face that had been on Grace's face though she at least tried to supress it.
"When you mentioned about getting a boat to head over to the other island, I wasn't quite expecting this. Who owns this boat? Is it someone you know?" She queried curiously, sighing when Steve simply shook his head at her.
"I'll keep that answer to myself" He replied with a wink before he passed her Oliver's car seat. "Take Ollie and Rowan on board Danni while I grab our bags, once we're on board we can set off, explore the place if you want, everything should be open and I can easily find you." He said, waiting until she nodded at her before he turned and headed towards the trunk, putting his words into action.
"Let's go Rowan" Danni said, reaching down and taking her daughter's hand as she led them up the ramp, looking around her carefully before she headed towards the door where Grace was lingering impatiently by, the manners Danni had painstakingly installed in her eldest holding true stopping her from investigating further. Danni smiled at her before she spoke. "Shall we head in and see what is inside?" She asked Grace, nodding towards the door which no doubt led to the inside of the yacht.
"Sounds good Mamma" Grace responded, pushing the door open and holding it so Danni could slip pass her with Rowan and Oliver. They headed down the stairs looking around them as they did before stopping at the first room which had two beds in there,
"I'm guessing this is the room for you girls" Danni said, noticing one of Rowan's cuddly toys on one of the beds while Grace's old toy Dolphin, the one which she pretended she wasn't bothered about anymore, was on the other.
"Looks like it, don't worry though Mamma, me and Ro will have lots of fun I'm sure" Grace said briskly, clearly pushing aside any disappointment that she may have been feeling at having to share a room with a three-year-old.
Danni smiled, letting go of Rowan's hand and moved towards Grace, pulling her into a hug and kissing her on the temple, her heart aching when she realised that Grace was now officially taller than she was.
"Thank you, Gracie," She murmured quietly in her ear before pulling back giving her another warm smile.
"What do you think?" Steve said from behind them, attracting their attention, a laugh escaping him when Rowan immediately jumped at him in a hug which was joined swiftly by Grace. "I'll take that as you're happy" He said when they pulled back allowing him to place down two of the bags he was holding.
"We'll leave you to unpack if you want" Danni said, smiling at Rowan before she looked at Grace. "Will you be okay with Rowan while I get Ollie sorted?"
"Leave it with me Mamma, we'll meet you upstairs" Grace told her with a nod.
"Thanks Grace" Steve said, wrapping his arm around Danni's shoulder and leading her out of the room and towards another door at the bottom of the small hall way which he pulled open, gently ushering her in to what appeared to be the master bedroom.
"Where is Ollie going to sleep?" She asked, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of a cot.
"Through here" He told her as he placed their bags beside the bed and waved his now free hand towards a door attached to theirs. Danni glanced towards him before she headed to the door and opened it, her face breaking out into a grin when she saw that the attached room already had a crib in it and some of the Oliver's favourite toys and blankets.
"How did you get all his things here?" She asked him, glancing behind her for a moment before she placed the car seat on the floor and unstrapped Oliver, lifting the sleeping baby up and gently placing him in the crib, watching him for a moment when he shifted around, his small face falling into a slight frown before it smoothed away as sleep took him again. She glanced to the side, spotting the baby monitor and switched it on before she grabbed the handset. "Sleep well little Ollie" She whispered quietly before she moved back into the main bedroom, her eyes landing on Steve who was in the process of unpacking their suitcases. "Did you buy us this yacht?" She asked him, unable to let the thought go, something which she blamed on her Detective instinct being aroused.
"I would have told you if I had gone and bought us a yacht Danni, not only that but I would assume that you would have noticed it if the money came out of our joint bank account." He pointed out dryly.
"True" She said reluctantly. "So, if you didn't buy it then you must have borrowed it from someone who would have it, someone like the Governor maybe?" She pressed, making a sound of frustration when he merely looked at her with an expressionless look.
"You can ask me all the questions you want Danni but you'd merely be wasting your time because I'm not planning on telling you anything. Its fun watching you try and wrack your brains over it though. Can't you just let it go and relax?" He said, straightening himself and changing the subject. "Can you finish the unpacking while I go and make sure everything is good to go, the less time we waste being docked here, the more holiday we actually get after all."
"What about the car?" Danni asked him, blinking when he stopped in the doorway to look back at her.
"I've already taken care of it, I gave my keys for it to Jack yesterday, he's agreed to come down here to pick it up and bring it back to his place. When we're on our way back home I'll call him and he'll drive the car back for us. Trust me love, I've got everything under control." He stated, blowing her a kiss before he left the room behind him and closed the door, leaving Danni standing in the room alone.
"You always do" She murmured to herself quietly before she looked around the room, appreciating how gorgeous it was for a moment before she focused on the task Steve had set her.
Thirty minutes later, Danni came up to the deck, having unpacked and changed into a dress, the baby monitor held in her hand. They had been moving for about twenty minutes and it was creating a pleasant breeze. She glanced to the side, unsurprised to see that Grace was making the most of the sun and was lying on one of the deckchairs, her face towards the sky with a wide happy smile on her face which warmed Danni.
"So, I've looked over the whole of the boat and its amazing, I mean the sheer amount of space on here is insane considering the fact that it's a yacht." Danni commented with a shake of her head as she moved towards Steve, smiling at Grace as she passed her before she stopped beside her husband. "And I'll admit that the fact that I don't know who owns it is driving me crazy which I'm sure you're well aware of and are enjoying immensely."
Steve glanced at her, his eyes moving over her before he grinned.
"No idea what you mean Danni" He replied serenely, the tone ruined by the cheeky wink he gave her before he pointed in front of them. "We should be docking in about another thirty minutes or so, so you should take the chance to just sit back and relax and enjoy the breeze."
"What about when we ger there?" She asked him curiously.
"It's about a fifteen minutes' walk for us to get there, you'll see some of the sights they have to offer and we can also decide where we want to eat once we're done at Pearl." He replied.
"Good to know, hopefully Grace will see some shops which she wants to look at as well" Danni commented as she moved behind him, slipping her arms around him and resting her hands against his bare stomach as she kissed his back.
"Come here" Steve muttered, twisting round slightly so he could bring her to his side, ducking his head towards her and stealing a kiss, resisting the urge to deepen it with difficulty.
"Nice" She murmured against his lips before she pulled away, instead resting her head against his side, her gaze focused on the view in front of her for a moment before she let them drift shut, simply enjoying the breeze and being held by Steve.
She opened them slowly when she felt a small pair of arms wrap around her knees and glanced down to see Rowan grinning up at her.
"Yes, my little Ro-Ro? Is there something which you need?" She asked her youngest daughter, a smile coming to her face when Rowan shook her head.
"Hug please Mamma?" The small girl asked hopefully.
Danni didn't hesitate, letting go of Steve and leaned down, picking Rowan up and cuddling her close before she began dancing around the deck with her, revelling in Rowan's happy laughter.
Steve glanced around, watching them for a moment before he shook his head and focused on the driving, once again kicking himself for not coming up with this idea sooner. The sound of them whispering loudly together caught his attention and he glanced around in time to see Danni approach him, Rowan still held securely in her arms.
"Da?" The small girl said, the minute that Danni stopped moving.
"Yes, baby girl?" He replied, his heart already melting at the wide-eyed look she was giving him. There was no doubt that Rowan had inherited his hair and eye colour but there was absolutely no mistaking who her mother was. Every facial expression the young girl had screamed of Danni, as did her small frame and pale skin. He reached out, running his hand over the top of Rowan's curly hair as he waited for her to speak.
"Who boat is this?" She asked him, both her and Danni giving him identical innocent looks at the same time, their eyes both twinkling with suppressed amusement.
"I have no idea Ro-Ro but what I do know is that it belongs to us for the next four days to use however we want" he responded. Rowan sighed, looking towards Danni for a moment before she shrugged.
"Can I go and see Ollie?" She asked them hopefully. It was no secret that Rowan was fascinated with the small baby still and was revelling in her new role as a big sister, often telling anyone they met that she was one now.
"You can but you must be quiet because he's still asleep. I'll take you down the stairs." Danni replied, turning and moving away from Steve. He watched as Danni carried Rowan down the steep steps, opening the door and letting the small girl down. She stood there for a moment, no doubt making sure that Rowan had reached her destination before she turned back around and headed back up the stairs, rolling her eyes at him when she saw the smirk which he gave her.
"That was very sneaky of you Danielle trying to use our daughter to find out who this boat belongs to." He commented when she was close enough, raising an eyebrow at her before tutting at her.
"I don't remember you saying that there were any rules when you told me to find out" Danni replied with a shrug. "You clearly don't know me very well if you think that I won't use everything at my disposal to find out" She added, stepping closer to him so he could feel her beside him. "And I do mean everything Steven" She said huskily, the tone causing him to shiver though he managed to supress it before she could see it.
"I can see the shops Mamma, I think we're nearly there." Grace called out, attracting Danni's attention.
"I think you're right Gracie" Danni called back to her eldest before she turned back to Steve, a moan escarping her when he kissed her hard, his tongue swiping at her lower lip before he bit down on it. Pulling back, he gave her a smug smile.
"If that's how you want to play this Danni then go ahead, let the games commence." He stated. She stared at him for a moment before she nodded at him, shooting him a smile of her own.
"Just remember Steve, that you asked for this."
