Sum Of His Parts.

Dying was actually not that painful. Well the seconds before death, that hurt like hell but the actual death part, not so much. The fact of the matter was that Harry Potter registered the fact that death was not that painful.

For Harry Potter had died what seemed to be seconds ago but yet his consciousness stirred right back to life. He was in a lab, he had never been in this place before or his life.

His first thought was that he might have been hallucinating once again.

"The subject is responding well to initial tests," a whisper commented.

"Yes, his mind is at a state of rest, it's inative, prepared for programming," another voice commented lightly.

That was a lie for Harry's mind was not at a state of rest, in fact he was trying to figure out what he was doing. His head was thumping a million miles a minute.

The last thing he remember was that he saved the world yet again or tried to. The person that he was fighting against, well they would not take losing gracefully so they tried to take out everyone and Harry meant everyone with one fell swoop.

Harry had one ace up his sleeve, the Deathly Hallows. One could argue about their merits all day but they could open a portal to another world at the cost of sacrificing the objects. That's what Harry did to save his two wives.

He had to stay behind and after he shoved them through the portal, he died. His body was ripped apart inch by inch.

He was in this pod and there was an ugly looking creature standing on the top of the pod. It had leathery skin and beady green eyes that glowed. His heart pumped what seemed like for the first time as he felt warmth with his fingers.

His skin felt the same but also different.

What was happening to him?

"Um...are you awake?"

Harry's vision took some time to get used to the light. He never had this good of vision and his vision seemed to be hyper sensitive.

"Just relax, okay," she whispered to Harry.

Harry could see her standing in the shadows, she was the only one in the room who was there. She had long red hair that flowed down past her shoulders. She had vibrant brown eyes which were covered with a pair of glasses. She was wearing a lab coat that covered her body. She was fairly tall, with breasts that looked fit to burst out of her outfit and long black pants.

"It's going to be hard to figure this out, they don't even know that you're awake," she told him as she pressed her hand on the edge of the pod. "You can understand me, can't you?"

Harry wordlessly nodded. His vocal cords were raw and they did not have the ability to speak as of yet.

"You were in a terrible accident, where they...my bosses...found you in the state that you were in," she stammered slightly as she tried keep herself calm. "Well a part of you because you're not completely you...whoever you are. I don't know, they have me working here, they have a few of us working here, they must be doing something big."

Harry nodded.

"Well, thanks for being such a good listener, but that's about all you can do because your vocal cords haven't fully formed and it might be hard to talk even when they grow in," she told him. "Just...stay calm and...you'll be out of here pretty soon, I swear."

Harry wondered about something and he looked at her with questions in his eyes.

"My name is Caitlin Fairchild...graduated from Metropolis University, this is not the work that I wanted to a part of but...his deal looked good at the beginning," Caitlin stated as she looked nervously but her eyes traced down his body.

Harry recalled fragmented memories that was not his, in fact that he did not recall living them in his life at all.

"Anyway, you looked pretty bad, no offense but...they're coming back, I'll talk to you later, okay?" Cailtin whispered to him as she turned around. If her bosses found out that his mind was not as blank as they thought it was, that would screw things up quite royally.

Harry paused, he could barely twitch his fingers. His senses felt so heightened but his body felt so length.

"We found him, we can rebuild him, stronger than ever."

"His DNA his the sum of three parts, as you well know."

"He's still not conscious yet," Cailtin told her superiors and they nodded.

"Give him a few days and he'll be awake, it would be much less painful for him at any rate," the scientist stated although he seemed to be a bit unconcerned by the fact that the test subject woudl have a lot of pain.

There was a loud siren that echoed.

"Who is that, the Justice League?" Cailtin asked, as she wondered if the e-mail she discreetly sent out reached the right channels. It was her only hope to save herself and this Project KR and Project GT, which was derived from Supergirl.

Cailtin had sent the e-mail to that reporter that was always being saved by Superman in hopes that the Justice League catch wind of it and mount a daring rescue as they often did.

"No, not the Justice League, it's merely their sidekicks," the voice of Mark Desmond stated calmly and dismissfully. He helped run Project Cadmus and their cloning iniative, and this was backed by their mysterious finacial supporters, only known as the Light. "Aqualad, Kid Flash, Robin, Wondergirl, and Supergirl, they're trying to sneak in."

"Well, you might have to deal with them, don't you?" Cailtin asked as she nervously bit down on her lip but then she saw a mysterious dark haired woman sneak in on one of the security feeds. She saw a security guard fall to the ground, getting zapped with a tazer.

Harry had no idea what was going on and he was never one to enjoy being kept in the dark. Most unfortunately, he could not speak although his hearing was picking up hushed voices but he had not gotten the hang of focusing on any one sound. He had never had such good hearing along with his eyesight, it was overwhelming.

What the hell happened in between the day he died and now? That's what he wanted to know.

End of Snippet.
