~Christmas Confessions Ch. 4~
It was yet another day and the party is only two days away. Amy yawned and woken up from her beauty rest. She slowly sat up and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. "Well...today's the day. I need to get a job..." she groaned. "and it won't be easy...so much grunt work..." She slowly slid her feet into her cute pink slippers, stood up and walked out of her room. She went to the bathroom to take a quick shower and wash up.
After the leisurely shower, she was already dressed into her signature outfit and into the kitchen to grab a quick toast before she leaves. She shoved a slice of bread into the toaster, poured orange juice, and read into the daily newspaper. "Hmm...a saleswoman? Nah...I don't want to be color blind with shoes..." she muttered. "I don't want to be part of the mall's mess with tons of shoppers...something simple, but will make me look cute." She giggled and noticed a bakery's ad in the paper. "Ooh! Maybe I can work there! I love to cook ever since Ella had taught me."
She smiled excitedly and got her shoes on, placing her empty glass into the sink, and took her warm popped up toast. She practically rushed out of her home and almost forgotten to lock the door behind her.
"Well, here it is!" Amy smiled, noticing its adorable Christmas decorations throughout the shop and the smell of fresh baked cookies, pies, any sweet item you can imagine! "I can't wait to get started!" Once she entered, it wasn't really that crowded as to be expected. There were only three to four people inside. At first she was a little uncomfortable, but until she noticed the shop owner, she fixed her hair and made the best smile she could make. "Um, hello. I came here for the job. Just so you know, I'm totally great at baking."
The owner seemed pretty unenthusiastic as she glanced down at the young hedgehog. "Hmph. Like we need, another bad baker here..." she muttered. Amy gasped and huffed slightly. Although as she tried to contain her cool, she promised, "No, really ma'am. I can make such wonderful pies. Especially apple pie. I can prove it to you." The owner groaned rudely and slowly pointed to the kitchen in the back. "Fine...knock yourself out..." Amy squealed and quickly walked to the back. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Meanwhile, Sonic was once again on his daily run. He looked at his workout watch and grinned with pride. "Awesome! Another best record!" he said. Just as he was going to run once more, the aroma of a freshly baked pie surrounded his black nose. "Mmm! That smells good! It almost smells like Amy's pie..." His ears perked up. "Wait a minute...Amy's pie?" As his curiosity begins to entice him, he mad dashed over to a bakery nearby and looked in from the window.
Inside, he could see Amy placing down the pie crust into the pan and cut sweet red apples with a knife. "Amy...is working here? I thought she hated working..." he frowned and remembered that she said she had a last present to purchase. "Wow, she must be serious about this..." He stepped back a bit and before he was going to leave, he noticed a "Help Wanted" sign.
"...Should I even work here? I need the money and I can work 'till Christmas Eve..." Now this would be super embarrassing if anyone and he means ANYONE would see him working in a place like this, they would think he has gone crazy! He sighed softly and muttered, "I guess I have no choice..." Sonic gently placed his hand on the doorknob and walked inside.
As Amy had finished one of her pies, she sliced a small piece for the owner and placed it on a plate. "Here ya go!" The woman took a nearby fork, stabbed it into the pie and took a bite from it. Suddenly, her eyes had turned wide and a smile almost appeared onto her face. "Whoa...this is...incredible..." she whispered. "I knew you would like it! Did I get the job?" Amy asked, eagerly. "You sure do! Welcome to the team!" The owner shook hands with her.
"Fantastic! Thank you sooo much!" Amy said excitedly. "No, thank you. I've been running this shop ever since my husband passed away when he owned this bakery. I can't find a single employee who can cook this good and you've taken the cake! You can get right to work." She began to walk away but stopped saying, "Oh, and my name is Susan. I'm your manager from now on, okay?"
"You got it! My name is Amy. Nice to meet you!"
As Amy had went back to the front of the store, she heard a familiar voice again. "Hello! Anyone here?" he called. "Hold on!" she called back and her mouth dropped, seeing her love once again. "Heh...hey Amy." Sonic waved. "H-Hey Sonic! What are you doing here?" she asked him. "Well, outside, I smelt your pies again, and I was wondering if...well...erm..." he was nervous and rubbed the back of his neck. "Remember when I told you I needed the money to buy one more present?"
"Oh yeah, he did! So...he's here for a job? He's going to work with me? Oh my goodness this must be fate!" She thought, excitedly. "You want to work here, Sonic? No problem, I'll ask the manager if she could allow you in." She skipped merrily to the back of the store.
After she left, Sonic groaned and thought, "What am I going to do? I'm no baker...I can't even make ice cream!" When Susan and Amy came back, Susan nearly fainted when she caught sight of Sonic. "S-S-S-Sonic the hedgehog? In MY bakery?" She exclaimed, gripping her chest to contain her excitement. Amy giggled and Sonic chuckled a bit. "Yeah, I'm looking for a job."
"W-Well, say no more! You've got the job! But...do you have any experiences with cooking?" Susan asked him to make sure. Sonic sweat-dropped and became uncomfortable again. "Uhh...erm...I-" "Don't worry, ma'am. I can teach him." Sonic's eyes turned wide and his face turned to a flush of pink.
"Oh, well, okay that would be fine. Just make sure he doesn't trash the place or something. You're going to be a hard worker, will you, Sonic? Sonic?" Sonic was daydreaming and kept blushing on his cheeks. "Me? Baking with Amy? Wow..." He thought. Amy snapped her fingers in front of him and he finally woke up.
"Oh! Sure, sure, I will." he nodded. "Good. Good luck. He's all yours, Amy!" "He's all mine...!" Amy smirked wide. "Okay, Sonic. We'd better get to work. We have a few orders we need to complete so, can I count on you?" Sonic winked and assured, "Of course you can! I'm the fastest, and most trustworthy hedgehog! Who can you trust?" She giggled and gently grabbed his hand. "Alright! Let's get started!" As the two went back to the kitchen, they probably will discover a much more bond between them.
