Chapter 4 : Grand Magic Games Start!

"We are all like fireworks. We climb, shine, and always go our separate ways and become further apart. But even if that time comes, let's not disappear like a firework, and continue to shine forever."

- Hitsugaya Toshiro (Bleach)

Lucy sighed as she looked at the beautiful scenery of green as she passed by hills and mountains. The soft rumbling sound and vibration of the train somehow calmed her anxious nerves. In 10 minutes thhey would be in Crocus, the captial of Fiore for the Grand Magic Game.

The few last months were Hell, Inori being Satan. Lucy was she had died a few times, only to be revived by Inori.

Training, training, and training was her tiring schedule. Inori was merciless and made her train harder. Lucy grinned at the memory of Inori waking Lucy up earlier than the sun.

Lucy wasn't a morning person.

Lucy glanced at the occupants of the room.

Inori was sleeping peacefully on the chair's arm while Haru and Ikuto played a intense game of cards. Haru's face was scrunched up in concentration in contrast to Ikuto's calm and bored look.

And Cynthia.

Lucy didn't know Cynthia well, she was picked by Chihiro when Lucy and Haru were on the roof. She had never really seen Cynthia in the guild much so she had guessed that Cyntha was one of the stronger mages that went on missions instead of lounging around the guild.

According Ikuto, Haru's enthusiasm at wanting to battle to powerful S-Class mage was soon rejected as she politely declined and went to Chihiro to get the mission approval. A smile tugged at his lips as he told her about Haru's crestfallen look.

Cynthia was quietly reading a book, her eyes quickly darting across the pages as she swiftly turned the page.

It was peaceful except for Haru's occasional complain at why Ikuto was so skilled at cards.

The train came to a gentle bump, signaling the end of the ride. Lucy turned and gently shook Inori's shoulder. Lucy giggled as an incoherent mumble came from her.

"We're here Ino"

Inori's eyes flew open, her blue orbs wide with childlike excitement as she quickly stood up.

Lucy slightly turned to see Ikuto staring at Inori, his eyes glinting with amusement and... something she couldn't identify. It was definitely there.

In all the time she had known Ikuto, he had always been calm, cool, and collected. Smartly analyzing things as quietly as possible.

Haru excitement snapped Lucy out of her investigation.

"Okay, okay! We're coming!"

Natsu groaned, his face turning a sickly shade of green.

His head was currently resting on Lisanna's lap. Grey and Erza watched disinterestedly as Wendy apologized over and over again for not being able to do anything.

"Let him be" said Charles with a 'hmphh'.

When they had finally arrived, Natsu was happy to kiss the ground in happiness, while Lisanna giggled.

They had checked in and everything was fine.

No one was aware of the pair of red eyes following them, watching every action.

Not one hint of anybody she had not wanted to see.

Once they had put their bags down at their 'home', Talon Flame, Inori had dragged Lucy around all the places she had always wanted to see, leaving once she had threatened the boys (mainly Haru), not to fight or break any buildings.

Even though Lucy had already seen mostly everything in Crocus, the twinkle of excitement in Inori's eyes made up for everything.

As they walked along a garden, licking ice cream cones. Strawberry flavored ice cream for Lucy and Honeysuckle flavor for Inori.

It was quiet except for the sound of shoes against the ground and the chirping birds. The sky was setting, casting a lovely purple and orange hue around everything.

"So..." Lucy began at an attempt to make a conversation. "How'd you meet Ikuto?"

Inori abruptly stopped walking and froze. Her eyes widened with the question until they softened. Inori smiled.

"I guess you could say we're childhood friends..." she trailed off. A soft smile played on her lips.

"I don't know why he stuck with me and decided to join the same guild as me"

Lucy tilted her head confusion.

Inori caught Lucy's confusion and laughed.

"Come on Lucy, you've seen him, haven't you?"

"Of course I've see-" she stopped.

"Oh" she said meekly.

Well, even Lucy had admit.

Jet black hair, high cheekbones, and the most impressive shade of green eyes. He was tall and his quiet, mysterious atmosphere basically attracted woman.

No wonder the moment they had gotten off the train there were stares and whispers, especially from women.

Ikuto was pretty damn handsome.

"He should've gone to one of the larger towns instead of an isolated guild in the middle of the woods" she sadly smiled. "I feel like I've dragged him down..." she said breathily.

Lucy was quick to reassure her.

"I'm sure he doesn't think th-"

"Everybody, please return to your homes immediately, I repeat, please return to your homes immediately"

This time, both of them froze.

"What do you think is happening?" Lucy said quickly.

Inori eyebrow's furrowed in concentration. "We should leave - things seem dangerous, I'll teleport us to our guesthouse"

Lucy knew the drill, she held onto Inori's hands as Inori closed her eyes.

Expecting the familiar 'pop' in her ears, she was surprised when nothing happened.

They both stood there for a while, blinking, until Inori shook Lucy out of her confusion.

"Shit" Inori cursed. "We should run"

Inori started to run, taking Lucy with her as they ran through the usually crowded streets. It was eerily empty and quiet. Lucy shuddered.

Something was ridiculously wrong, Lucy could feel it.

Once they reached their guest house, both of them were exhausted from running. Lucy sighed in relief once she saw that everyone was in the guest house safetly.

Haru and Ikuto approached them as they arrived in the house.

"Did you guys hear that announcement? I wonder what that was about!"

Lucy frowned. "Haru! You shouldn't be excited about something like that! What if somebody got killed or something? That'd be terrible!" While Lucy talked she spared a quick glance at Inori, wondering why she hadn't told anyone about her magic not working. Lucy quickly shrugged it off, if Inori didn't want to tell, she didn't have to.

She had more important things to worry about.

Especially tomorrow, what would she do when if she met Fairy Tail?

The dimly lit cavern was eerily quiet, shadows bounced off the torch filled walls. Shuffled footsteps filled the air with muffled whispers and frantic worry.

"Where is she!? Where did she go!?"

"Damn, we're in for hell if she isn't found..."

"Where's the prisoner!?"

A man paced in a small room tucked away in the corner, the room poorly decorated, only a single lamp on a wooden cabinet illuminated the room.

A short knock was heard as a short man came in.

"Well!?" the man had stopped pacing, his face furrowed with worry and distress "did you find her yet?"

The man bowed politely "...I'm afraid not...we have our best mages looking fo-"

"Looking for isn't enough!" the man boomed, making the shorter one cower in fear.

He resumed pacing in the dimly lit room until he finally stopped, a dark look spreading over his face.

"Find her"

The other man had widened his eyes in fear.

"B-But...the king sa-"

"I don't give a damn about what the king says! He is a senile old, naive fool, letting her go like this, stupidity!"

"What will you do when we do catch her...?"

He sneered, his eyes flashing a bright red -something the other man noticed but was too afraid to point out- he slid a finger under his throat.

"Execution"

When Inori opened her eyes she was in a white room.

Her body was sprawled out on the floor in an uncomfortable position, she groaned as she moved to get into a upright position.

Everything as far as she could see was white.

She blinked, where was she?

Something glimmered out of the corner of her right eye, she turned to see a medium sized mirror hanging from the white walls.

The surface of the mirror sparkled and Inori found herself slowly walking over to it in a trance-like mode, her eyes turned hazy and her breathing became uneven.

Inori felt a cold shiver over her spine. The whiteness and blankness of the room was eerily quiet and for a split second she wished Ikuto was here, comforting her.

They had always been together, as childhood friends they had been joined at the hip.

Inori reached the mirror and peered in. She immediately saw her own reflection, caramel hair that reached to her waist tied up in a messy ponytail, and startling icy blue eyes. She slowly reached for the mirror, using her tips of her hands she touched the surface of the mirror.

The mirror shimmered and as if it was a stone thrown in water, it rippled for a moment before showing another image.

Wavy caramel hair that was cut beneath the shoulder blades, piercing crimson eyes, and blood red lipstick adorned her lips. Her mouth curved into a smirk. She wore a tight fitting and revealing corset with fishnet stockings and a black cape swished behind her.

Inori staggered back, taking her hand off the mirror, as if she had been shot. Her eyes widened at the sight.

"Hey there~ Miss me?" the woman in the mirror said tauntingly.

"W-Who are you?" she said, her mouth dry from not speaking, she licked her dry lips.

"You don't know!?~" she pouted. "I thought we knew each other better than that!" she took her hand off her side of the mirror, clutching her heart in false agony.

Inori clutched her forehead that was pounding furiously at the arrival of the mysterious person. She didn't like the person on the other side of the mirror. Something told her that she was suspicion.

"I have absolutely no idea who the hell y-" she started.

"Such vulgar language! I'm hurt, Nori-chan~"

Inori's head snapped up, her icy blue eyes seemed to freeze the room with fierce hatred, her nails dug into the palm of her right hand drawing blood. "How do you know that na-"

"Not too fast! Otherwise..." she paused, her eyes narrowing. "It wouldn't be fun..." she trailed off.

"Ah!" she said as she caught herself, her cheeks reddening. "Whoops! How embarrassing~" she touched her cheeks. "I almost lost myself..."

"Hello!?" Inori snapped. "You still here?"

The girl in the mirror stared at Inori for a moment, as if she were studying her. She sighed.

"Alright then, since I'm just that generous, and nice, and awe-"

"Can we get on here? Or am I just going to have to listen to your overblown ego?" Inori glared.

"As I was saying...I'll give you a hint to who I am~" For a split second, Inori thought she saw pity in that pair of gleaming red eyes.

"You" she pointed at Inori.

"Are an illusion"

"Are you ready Inori?" Lucy grinned at her friend. "I can't wait to participate!...Inori?" she waved a hand in front of her.

They were at their lodging houses waiting for the Grand Magic games that would soon start. Cynthia reading quietly on a chair. Each of them wearing black colored capes.

Inori felt sick by looking at the black cape that swished every time her friend moved. It made of the mysterious person in the mirror.

You are an illusion...

"Hello? Inori? Are you there?"

Inori eyes widened. "A-Ah...sorry.." Inori said sheepishly. "I don't think I got enough sleep last night because of the storm..."

"Storm?" Lucy asked. "I didn't know there was a storm yesterday"

Inori grinned. "That's because you probably slept through it! I bet you wouldn't know it if somebody snuck into your bed and spent the night there" she teased.

Lucy froze.

"Lucy...?" Inori hesitantly asked.

Lucy blushed, "I'm not that much of a heavy sleeper!" she said feinting a laugh. She pretended not to notice Inori's calculating gaze.

"Ne, Ikuto" Haru said looking at him. "Don't you think Ino and Lucy are acting weird?"

Ikuto studied the both of them for second before responding. "They just may be tired, there was a storm yesterday you know"

ALL PARTICIPATING MEMBERS IN THE DAIMOTOU ENBU, PLEASE REPORT TO THE ARENA!

Haru grinned excitedly. "Finally! We can show them what we're made of!"

Inori, Ikuto, Cynthia, and Lucy had already made it to the front door. Lucy laughed, the cloak muffling her body.

"Hurry up Haru! We're going to leave without you!"

"W-Wait up!" Haru stopped outside of the door and froze.

"Huh..." he murmured.

"Is something wrong Haru?" Lucy asked, she turned to the team who was already ahead of them. "Wait up guys!" she turned back to Haru.

"Was there a storm last night?"

"It's so..." Lucy was at a loss of words as she stared at the end of the tunnel, light pouring in.

"Bright?" Inori added.

"Yeah, definitely bright" Haru commented as he squinted.

They were all in a dark tunnel, waiting for the Guild's name to be called.

"We should probably be walking" Cynthia commented in her monotone voice. "We will be called out soon"

And finally, the guild with one of the 10 Wizard Saints as their guild master, a guild that has been slowly building their reputation...everyone...Please welcome Devil Tears!

Before they left the tunnel, Inori grabbed Lucy's hood and put it on top of her head. She gave her a reassuring smile.

"It's fine Lucy, we'll beat them"

Lucy closed her eyes and happily smiled. "Thanks Inori"

As they entered the arena the crowd boomed with applause and cheers.

"Chihiro must be well known" Ikuto said while everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

Lucy stiffened at the sight of Fairytail. She could hear the roars of the crowd as they came out. Lucy clenched her fists in anger.

Now! Let's start out first event! The Gatling Range! Everyone, please chose a member that will be participating in this game!

"May I please go first?" interrupted Cynthia before anybody could say a thing.

"Sure!" Haru said beaming, while Lucy enthusiastically said yes.

She bowed. "Thank you" before she walked to the platform the participants were to stand on. Wendy, Cheria, Rogue, Milliana, and a few other people were already on it.

The rules of this game are simple: flee or fight. Every participant has one golden disk with them if you manage to steal someone else's golden disk the person you stole the disk from is out! You must hide your disk in a secure location and cannot keep it with you. So...what will you do? Risk your hiding place and fight to protect it, or go somewhere else and have a chance of somebody stealing it?

Now, for the arena...

The ground rumbled as 4 plots of large land came up. One was an icy cold winter land, the other was a blazing hot summer land, the others were one's in between.

The game starts...NOW!

Immediately after the whistle blew Cythia was gone.

Jet cheered. "We're going to win this!"

The guild murmured in agreement.

"That Cyntha chick looks strong" Cana commented her eyes narrowed. "Is that who I think it is..." she murmured softly.

"Wendy will win this for us!" Grey said.

Natsu stayed quiet, sniffing at the air.

"Oi, dumbass, you look stupider than usual when you do that" Grey said.

Everybody almost didn't believe their eyes when Natsu didn't quickly reply with a sarcastic retort of his own.

"What's wrong Natsu?" Erza asked.

"I smell her..." he took a sniff of the air one more time and then responded more confidently.

"It's her, I smell Lucy"
