Surprise! I'm back a day early, yay! The fishing trip was kinda fun and I managed to catch a fish! Anyway, looking at the result of the poll…I'm surprised that only 14 people actually voted. Here's the results:
Setsuka/Alpha Patroklos - 6 Votes
Mitsurugi – 5 Votes
Xianghua/Leixia - 2 Votes
Taki/Natsu - 1 Vote
Yoshimitsu - 0 Votes
Seoung Mi-Na/Kilik/Xiba - 0 Votes
Yun-Seoung - 0 Votes
So…yeah, I guess it's staying the same; then again this is only 14 people voicing their opinions. But before things escalate, let's get on with the chapter.
To Be A Father
The first thing Jaune noticed when he opened his eyes was the change in scenery. Instead of lying on a bed in the Infirmary at Beacon, he found himself standing in what appeared to be the middle of the woods. As the blonde looked around, he took note that it was in fact night time with the moon shining dimly in the night sky. His thoughts were cut short by a twig snapping behind him. Though he tried turn around to see who the culprit was, the blonde's body stayed still, forcing the blonde to rely on his ears as more twigs snapped around him.
Without warning, Jaune immediately turned around and held up his left arm in time to see it get wrapped by something. The blonde barely had time to widen his eyes before he was yanked off his feet and pulled towards the assailant. Moving in its own, the blonde's body twisted itself in the air, a dull *Whoosh* letting him know that he just barely evaded being hit with a blunt instrument.
As soon as Jaune landed, he jumped to the side and began running in a large circle. As he continued to move, he body jumped, ducked and rolled out of the way as the sound of a whip cracking reached his ears. After the 8th-10th dodge, Jaune's body made a mad dash for the assailant. Even though the blonde could see the area around him, to his confusion, he could only see the silhouette of his assailant, which he saw was a woman with a second pair of ears. Twisting his body to the side to avoid another lashing from the whip, Jaune grinned when he managed to tackle his target.
Unfortunately, as soon as the two hit the floor, the assailant used the momentum to continue rolling before planting their feet on Jaune's stomach and throwing him off. Jaune didn't fret and simply rolled a second time before finally drawing his sword, using the action to knock away the woman's whip. Getting to his feet, Jaune sheathed the blade with a grin. Moving at the same time, he and the woman began to circle around clearing, letting out a low growl or threatening hiss.
Though Jaune wanted to rush his opponent down, his body didn't move. Instead, he watched his opponent, his eyes flickering at every single twitch. The second Jaune saw the woman's shadow move, his body moved too and immediately rushed forward. Ducking low, Jaune's body side-stepped another whip-lash before the blonde's arm drew his sword, spinning his body in the process. The result was Jaune managing to knock the assailant into the air slightly.
Once the woman began to fall to the ground again, Jaune immediately lifted his leg and slammed his knee into the woman's chin, lifting her to her feet. The woman began to stumble back, but Jaune jumped over her and drew his blade again, hitting the woman in the back. This caused the woman to stumble forwards this time, letting Jaune sheathe his blade again before dashing forward. Just as Jaune was about to reach the woman, he began to spin his body as he drew his sword.
The attack managed to knock the woman forwards, getting Jaune to grin before his eyes widened. Before the woman could recover, Jaune crashed into her and caused the two to roll a bit further along the ground. When they did stop, Jaune took a second to realized that he had the woman pinned underneath him.
"Looks like I win this time, Connie." Jaune said, getting a growl in response. Instead of scaring the blonde, he felt his face muscles stretch, making him grin in response.
"I let you win. And I told you stop calling me that! You don't even spell it right!" The woman replied, getting Jaune to grin even more.
"Oh? And what are you going to do about it?" The blonde replied before the woman he had pinned down suddenly rolled, catching him off guard. Before he knew it, the blonde found his arms pinned above his head with the woman looking down at him. "Oh~! Look who's taking charge for once. What do plan on doing to me?" Jaune said cockily. His response was the woman scoffing and getting off of him.
"I'm not going to give you the satisfaction." The woman said while Jaune felt his shoulder sag a bit.
"But baby…" Jaune said as he wrapped his arms around the woman's hips. "…isn't fun to take charge from time to time?" the blonde whispered, only to get an elbow to his gut.
"Perv…" was the only response he got before he fell to the ground.
"Love you too baby…" Jaune groaned out before he pulled out a scroll and typed, 'Acceptance' into it. Once the device unlocked, Jaune stopped where he was and frowned; the screen looking back at him wasn't of him and his love, but another woman and his love. Before the blonde could think of a reason, a large amount of pain shot through his head. The last thing Jaune saw before he blacked out was the woman running back to him.
-Beacon Infirmary-
"Ahh!" Jaune shouted as he shot up from his bed. Looking around, the blonde's mind quickly began to replay everything it knew before it realized where it was. After a few more seconds, Jaune's breath began to steady as the blonde himself started to relax.
"Bad dream my boy?" A voice said, getting Jaune to jump again before he looked to his left and saw Port sitting next to him. "You were tossing about rather frequently, and mumbling." The man said, looking at Jaune to see the blonde looking at him with a raised eyebrow. After a quick staring contest, Port seemed to realize why Jaune was looking at him. "I assume you're wondering why I'm here?" The man asked, getting Jaune to nod slowly. "Well boy, Glynda had asked me to keep an eye on you."
"Ms. Goodwitch?" Jaune asked, getting a nod from the man. "Why?"
"To be honest?" The man asked, getting Jaune to nod, "It's likely because she sees her family in you." At that, Jaune widened his eyes a bit. "I shouldn't be telling you this, but Glynda once had a younger brother. Surprising I know. You see my boy, Glynda used to be a free-spirited girl with aspirations of fame and glory."
"What happened?" Jaune asked, wincing when Port lowered his head a bit.
"Reality, my boy. She saw what the world was like…and how it didn't play favorites." Port said, getting Jaune to look down. Those words were the same thing his father said when he said he wanted to be a Huntsman. "The Grimm have never discriminated…and Glynda lost her brother." At that, Jaune looked at Port, lowering his head when Port simply shook his head. "If I had to wager, seeing you I danger…it likely reminded her of her brother."
"Oh…" Jaune said, before he felt Port's hand on his shoulder.
"Glynda may be a strict woman, but that's only because she doesn't want anyone else to go through what she had." Port said before he smiled. "Now then, since you're awake; I think I'll get some breakfast. Is there anything I can get you?" The man said, getting Jaune to shake his head. "Alright then, I'll let Glynda know you're awake." Jaune nodded his head and watched Port disappeared through the doorway, leaving him alone. Well, almost alone since a whimper made Jaune turn around and see a baby crib next to his bed.
"Vermilion?" Jaune asked, leaning over to look inside. To his surprise, the baby responded with a quick babble before seeing Jaune and smiling. "Hey there, how'd you sleep?" Jaune asked, getting more babbles in response. "Good, I was worried when you started crying." The blonde said before reached into the crib and pulled Vermilion out. Taking a look at the six-month old baby, Jaune focused his attention on her extra set of ears that twitched every now and then.
'Well, she doesn't take after Verdigris…' Jaune thought, remembering that the woman said she was a Pit Viper Faunus. 'But if two different Faunus species have a kid…isn't a roll of the dice? I mean she could take after her mother…father?...her other parent, for all I know.' Jaune said as he looked at the ears. 'They act like cat ears so…maybe a Puma? Wait! The scroll!' Looking around, Jaune quickly looked around before he spotted the scroll on the end table from last night.
Quickly picking it up, Jaune stopped when he saw the locked screen, the word 'Purpose?' starting back at him with a blank space underneath. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, Jaune typed 'Acceptance' in the box and smiled at the sound of the device unlocking. The first thing Jaune saw on the main screen was a folder that was labeled 'Documents', prompting him to tap the icon. Once he did, the blonde was greeted to various labeled icons, some had 'White Fang' while others had 'Bank Statements'.
Luckily for the blonde, the first icon was labeled 'Vermilion'. Tapping the Icon, Jaune was saddened to see the little info that was displayed.

"Well, at least I was right about her ears being a cat's." Jaune said as he looked at Vermilion and saw that she was asleep. Moving her hair slightly, Jaune saw that her hair did indeed have a few strands of yellow in them, hidden underneath most of the black. Before Jaune could look over Vermilion any further, a cough made him look up to see the nurse and Goodwitch watching him.
"I think he's recovered enough," The head nurse said, getting Goodwitch to smile a bit. "Still, a quick check-up never hurt anyone." Jaune didn't say anything as the two women walked up to him. Goodwitch reached out and took Vermilion in her arms while the nurse reached for Jaune's head and moved it around. After flashing a light in Jaune's eyes and listening to his heart, the head nurse simply smiled. "Well, he's ready for action. A bit more rest and he'll be fine."
"Thank you." Goodwitch said as she handed Vermilion back to Jaune and waved the Head Nurse away. "Have a good night's rest?" Goodwitch asked, taking Port's seat while Jaune nodded. "That's good." The blonde said before silence began to fill the room.
"So…" Jaune said after the silence became to awkward. "…what's going to happen with me and Vermilion?" Jaune asked, getting Goodwitch to look at him.
"Yes, well, I've ran into this taken care of most of the paperwork." Goodwitch said, getting Jaune to raise an eyebrow. "And I had Professor Oobleck find a room for you and your daughter to live in. If you would like, I can take you to it now."
"Uh…sure but," Jaune said getting Goodwitch to raise an eyebrow. "Question: Why does Beacon have guideline for something like this? I didn't know students having kids was so common." Jaune said, raising an eyebrow when Goodwitch sighed.
"It isn't common to have a child while attending a school like Beacon." The older blonde said, "However, Ozpin has more experience than you know. He's traveled around the world and has witnessed many things. During his travels, he's learned that it's better to be prepared for what you can." Goodwitch said, before she smiled at Jaune. "In fact, Beacon's only had to implement these guidelines only twice since its establishment."
"Oh…" Jaune said before he saw Goodwitch stand.
"If you're ready Mr. Arc, I'll take you to your new room." Jaune simply stared at Goodwitch before he nodded and held out Vermilion.
Alright another chapter down. So, I gave Glynda a bit of background. If you hate it then I'm sorry but aside from being a strict woman, I had little work with. She, like a lot of characters, don't have much to go off of aside from their short appearances. Do I think it's good? Of course! Do I think it's right? No, in fact I could be completely wrong.
Aside from that, how do you like the first memory sequence. If you like it, then you will be disappointed to hear that those won't be popping too often. Yeah, more often than not, it'll only come up for plot convenience.
Anyway, the next chapter will finish up Jaune new responsibilities at Beacon before I send him home.
After that, I'll bring him back to Beacon and introduce Vermilion to everyone else. Until next time, see ya.
...
On a side note...I've been thinking about trying to make Visual Novels. Why? Well, it's just a more complicated form of Fanfiction in my eyes. My friend showed me a program called 'Ren'Py' and is helping me create a demo with 'Poker Night'...though I have no sprites, music or background.
I don't know if I'll actually release it, but if it goes well I might do it with other stories; probably even from other authors if I get permission.
