"Thank you for a lovely evening guys. I definitely needed it." She smiled at the twins, who returned it with almost identical smiles. "I should probably get back to Roxy's though."
"It was our pleasure. Charlie's too from the looks of it." replied George, wiggling his brows at Skye, who rolled her eyes. "We'll see you tomorrow, yeah?"
"Definitely. I'll try drag Roxy down tomorrow too. It's good to see you up and about again, Fred. See you tomorrow." And with one final 'pop' she vanished and found herself at Roxy Jones'. Roxy had been Skye's best friend from the moment they were both placed in Ravenclaw all those years ago. She hadn't changed much since they finished Hogwarts, her hair was still long and blond and her eyes were still a brilliant emerald green. She was taller than Skye and had just been successful in trying out the for England Quidditch team.
"Skye? Is that you?" called Roxy, from the kitchen. She appeared in the door wearing her fluffy dressing gown, a plate of toast in her hands.
"Yeah. Sorry I'm so late. Fred and George invited me to family meal this evening." Skye replied as she took a seat of the sofa. Roxy came and sat down beside her and took a bite of her toast.
"Did you say Fred and George?" Roxy questioned.
"Oh! Yeah. He woke up yesterday. I only found out today myself. I somehow managed to confuse him for George," laughed Skye.
"But George is missing an ear?"
"I know." The two girls sat giggling at Skye's ridiculous blunder and soon the two girls were talking the night away. I was two in the morning and Roxy and Skye had begun reminiscing about memories they had shared back at Hogwarts. Some were when it was just the two of them, others were when when people had been with them. They were currently laughing at the one memory Skye had never forgotten. The first time she had really spoken to Fred and George; the day that she had kissed the one and only, Fred Weasley.
*Flash Back*
She had a detention with the potions master. Skye was to sort out Professor Snape's spare potions ingredients into different categories (can't hurt students, can send students to the hospital wing, fatal ingredients). However, she wasn't the only one who had detention with Snape that night. Skye had just put her bags down, when in walked the Weasley Twins. It didn't surprise Skye to see them walk in; they were known for the troublesome ways and she knew that they probably had more detentions than anyone in the school put together.
Snape had been there to great the three teenagers and explain what they were to do. Then he left, skulking away into his office and leaving them on their own.
"So," came the voice of George Weasley, as he picked up a slug and threw it into one of the boxes."What did you do to get detention with the greasy git?"
Skye looked at him and shrugged. "Got dared to add a crushed unicorn horn to my potion, it sent 5 people to Madam Pomfrey."
"Wicked," the twins exclaimed simultaneously.
"Did you know what would have happened?" Fred asked. He had picked up a unicorn horn and was examining it.
"No. but I had already messed up my potion. Thought it wouldn't do much." Skye admitted.
"If didn't know, why did you do it?" George inquired, interested.
"It was a dare, I rarely back down. Plus,I thought it'd make the lesson a bit more fun." Skye said.
There was a short silence after that, partly because the 'Greasy Git' as George had called him, had entered the room to see that they were doing what they were supposed to. The three teens didn't even look at each other, or him, and focused on sorting the different ingredients into the correct boxes. After he left, there was still a slight silence in the room. The only noise that was heard was the flickering of the candles in the dungeon and the 'flop' of the ingredients being placed carelessly in the boxes.
"So, you do any dare?" George asked.
"Mostly. I've not had one that I haven't done in a while," agreed Skye.
"You know what, Fred, I don't believe her," George said, turning to his twin, a smirk growing on his face.
"Me neither, George," grinned Fred, mischievously.
"We should test her," suggested George.
" And I have the perfect idea," smirked Fred.
Skye was putting one of the ingredients in the box, her back turned to the twins, who were now whispering something to each other. She had tried to strain her eyes to hear what they were saying, but she was sure they weren't even talking in full sentences. Suddenly George's laugh filled Skye's ears.
"You're dreaming, Fred. She wouldn't do that," he laughed.
"Exactly," beamed Fred.
"What won't I do?" Skye questioned, her face set in a frown. She had turned to face them now and watched as the twins continued to laugh a while longer. Did these two really think they'd found something she wouldn't do? Her own sister had yet to find something. Although, if anyone could, it'd be the pranking twins, the jokers of the school.
Skye looked at the twins, her eyebrows raised.
"I dare you," Fred smirked."To kiss me."
And so she had. She had walked right up to him, stood on the very tips of her toes, wrapped her arms around his neck and placed her pink lips over his in a gentle kiss. At first, Fred stood there completely shocked. Then slowly, his arms had moved around her waist, pulling her closer to him, as he began to kiss her back.
*End Flash Back*
"I still can't believe you actually kissed him," laughed Roxy.
"It was just dare, Rox," Skye smiled.
"I know, I know. It just seems odd; you and the prankster." Roxy grinned.
Skye laughed. She hadn't thought back to the kiss in a while, and now she had, she couldn't stop her mind from revisiting it. She had never admitted to Roxy, or to anyone in fact, that she had enjoyed kissing Fred. She remembered how his arms had felt so strong wrapped around her and how soft his lips had been as they had moved against her own. She shook her head and her and Roxy's conversation soon moved on. But now Skye's thoughts kept going back to the shop.
"You know, Skye seems really familiar. I feel like there's something I'm meant to be remembering," said Fred, a frown creasing his young face. He and George were sat in their living room, Fred on the sofa, George in his favourite arm chair by the window.
"She should. She used to come watch Katie play during quidditch games. We even had a couple of detentions with her," George pointed out.
"Hmm, what about her sister?" Fred asked.
"Her sister was like Hermione, smart, loved her studies, but was a bit more flexible than Hermione, she knew how to have fun," smiled George. "They were easy to tell apart. Skye's always had the red hair. Her sister was brunette."
"And you say we had detention with her. Skye, I mean?"
George nodded. Fred sat in silence for a while, racking his brain. George watched him curiously. The healer had said he may have trouble remembering things, but so far he'd been fine, remembering everything. Why could he not quite remember Skye? George's worry soon passed as a smirk passed over Fred's face and his fingers ran over his lips.
"Ah, yes. I remember," he said, turning his attention back to his brother, who was raising his eyebrows at Fred.
"What?" inquired Fred.
"Thinking of nice, are we? Do share," teased George.
Fred's face flushed red, as George laughed. George hadn't seen his brother blush over anyone, except perhaps Skye when George and Lee both teased his about the kiss. George has always suspected the Fred had 'thing' for Skye. He would always catch him looking over at her, Katie and Roxy before a quidditch game. But Fred had always denied it when questioned. But the kiss that he and Skye had shared had confirmed it for George.
Determined to change the subject, Fred asked, "So how did you and Angie get together?"
This time, it was George's time to blush. "Well, I was worrying about you, Katie saw that, and she organized a night to take my mind off it. She invited Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Angie, me, Oliver, the lot, and we had a game of spin the bottle. Let's just say, I really enjoyed kissing Angie, so the next day, I asked her out."
"What's spin the bottle?" Fred asked.
"It's a muggle game that Katie introduced us to. Spin a bottle and whoever it lands on, you kiss."
Fred remembered when he was with Angelina, he would always catch her looking at George, but then again, she had once caught him looking at Skye.
"Hmm. Well, good for you, mate," said Fred. "It was always obvious you guys liked either other. Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to head off to bed."
Fred laid in bed, staring up at the ceiling. How had he not recognized Skye? Then again, she had confused him for George, despite there now being a big difference. He smiled. He couldn't wait to see her again tomorrow. His mind thought of what she was doing now. Did she remember the kiss? Had she enjoyed it as much as he had? His lips tingled at the memory of her lips on his. He could remember how good she had felt pressed against him, her soft breathing tickling his cheek and how she had tightened her arms around him when he had deepened the kiss.
Soon he closed his eyes, his thoughts still drifting to Skye but soon he fell into a deep sleep. Darkness overtaking all his senses and he went deep into a dreamless sleep.
