Chapter 4

Jack was in his quarters now trying to figure out what he had done. In his mind, it was the right and, but to some part of him, it was not. If Sam and Janet did show up now soon that meant he was going to have to do this. He started to pack again now and get ready to head out when General Hammond asked him to come to the Briefing room again. "Sir, you called me?"

"Yes, Colonel - I did I heard you beamed back in now here and did not report to me."

"Sir, I have a good reason for doing that sir. I did not tell you because I was going to leave again soon now and beam back up to the Odyssey here."

"What Colonel?"

"Yes, that is right; you heard what I said sir now. I have been asked by Thor to check out something on a planet in his solar system now. I will be gone for a long time sir," replied Colonel O'Neill.

"When were you going to let me know you would be going on this mission now?"

"I was not going to tell you sir – I figured that after I left here sir I was just going to take that you figured it out and knew that Thor had asked me to do this."

"Well I am surprised he asked for just you Colonel and not the rest of SG-1 at all."

"Sir, they like me. I have to say yes give my answer to Thor soon or no to him soon here. Look sir – I have to do this."

"Why, Colonel, do you have to do this?"

"General Sir, it is my choice here, not yours sir; and with all due respect now sir I am going to say this to you now whether you like it or not."

"Colonel O'Neill, if you do this now you are going to be up on charges then, and I will not help you out of this one if you are put up on criminal charges for disobeying your commanding officer now. You will be on your own now. Here and What about your backup Colonel?"

"Sir, I have been told by Colonel Reynolds, Colonel Ferrite, Colonel Davis, and Major Altman that they all are willing to back me up on this mission Sir. I will be not going myself but I will be going with SG-2, SG-3, SG-5, and SG-13 here as well. So you see sir, I have back up and if you're going to bring me up on charges you're going to have to then bring us all up on charges sir now."

"…Fine, go. And good luck."

"Thank you sir. I have to sir now let Major Carter and Dr. Frasier knows I am leaving soon, so if you do not mind sir I have to talk to the both of them now."

"You are dismissed now here. However, Colonel, do not think I am not going to forget what you said to me now or the way you said it to me."

Colonel O'Neill walked out of Hammond's office now then and headed to find Sam, Daniel, Teal'c, and Dr. Frasier now to let them know what he is about to do and why. He was going to head straight for Carter's lab to talk to her first. However, just as he was going to turn the corner now, Jack ran into Daniel on the way.

"Jack, where have you been? Now here Sam, Teal'c, and I have tried to find you all day, and now here you are?"

"Daniel, I can explain it all to you if you come with me to Sam's lab and get Teal'c and Dr. Frasier as well. Then meet me there, okay?"

"Okay. However, I want to know where you have been and what the reason for you being gone now here as well."

"Fine Daniel." Jack kept heading towards Sam's lab now. When he gets to the door and started to knock, but he stopped for a bit to think. Is this right thing to do now? Telling them that entire he is going to do this mission and his reasons for taking it on now, or should I just walk away now and leave? Just as he was about to turn and leave he saw Daniel, Janet, and Teal'c coming to meet him as he had asked. "Great now," he mumbled to himself, "now I have to tell them all now. I know they are not going to like what I have to say about why I am going again. The hard part now is to make sure that they do not try to come with or try to talk me out of going now either."

"Colonel O'Neill sir, you wanted to see all of us?" Teal'c asked.

"Yes I did. Please come in and have a seat here." He watched as they all walked into Sam's lab now then and sat down. "Umm, I do not know how to tell you all this. However, it has been said – and please waits to ask me questions until I have told you all. I am going to be leaving on a mission with SG-2, SG-3, SG-5, and SG-13 soon now. I also do not know when or if I will ever be back in this Galaxy.

I may not come back or I may be back some day and I thought you for should know this right away. General Hammond already knows about this and told me good luck. However, I told him I had to talk to you and tell Sam and Janet what I was going to do. I know I told Sam and Janet that I would be back to stay now here for good, but this came up now and Thor need my help now."

"Sir, when are you going to leave again?" Carter asked, biting her lip.

"Because Sam, I was asked by Thor now to help. I also told him I would help the Asgard out with their problem that they have. I want you to know that I am sorry for having to leave now so quickly now again. But as I told you I don't know if I am going to be back this way for a long time or if I am going to be able to come back either at all Sam now. Janet, I have to ask you for a favor now."

"What kind of favor are you going to ask me sir?"

"I need you to keep an eye on Sam and the others for me while I am gone please. It is something that I know you are the only one I can trust with this now. Will you please be willing to look after Sam, Daniel, and Teal'c for me now?"

"Colonel Sir, it would be my pleasure sir. I will also look after them as if they were my family now."

"Now if you all do not mind, I need to talk to Janet alone for a little bit now about something."

"Okay sir. Sam, Daniel, and Teal'c – if you would please give Colonel O'Neill and I some time to talk I would be grateful to you then." Giving them wary looks, the three remaining members of SG1 quickly left the room. "So what is it that you need to talk to me about alone sir now?"

"Janet, I had to wait until they were gone to ask you this now. However, I know you like kids a lot and do not have any of your own now here."

"That's true sir. However, I have to ask what does kids have to do with you and me talking alone now sir?"

"I have two kids that no one knows about now here or has seen Janet. I have those them hidden away now in a secret place that I only know about and were now. It is that I need you to look after my two kids for me please."

"Colonel, are you sure I am the right person for this? You should think of talking to Sam or someone else other than me about something like this sir. I know you you're doing the create right thing by talking to me about your kids. However, I am sure Sam would love to hear this for herself than from me."

Jack nodded, and then he left Janet standing there now in the lab and went to find Sam again therefore so he could talk to her about something. However, to his surprise, she was looking for him and he saw her walking down the same hallway now towards him, back to her lab she left a little while ago now.

"Sam, he I need to talk to you now pleases."

"Sure, but what for?" she answered sarcastically. "I think I have heard all I want to hear from you sir, now or am I going to have to hear more even if I don't want to know?"

"Please listen to me. It's not that I didn't want to tell you Sam. It is because I could not tell you now before that I love you so much and I just did not think I could bear the thought of losing you now."

"…What…are you trying to tell me? That you are in love with me now?" she said, surprised.

"Yes, that is what I said. I love you Samantha Carter and I want to be with you now. If…you will have me?"

"Jack, she asks sighed, "what is going to become of us? I mean, you have not been around lately. Now you are going off again to help the Asgard out. Which means you probably will not be back to earth for a long time…" she asked him this now trailed off.

He just stared at her with a blank face trying to figure out what to really say now. He rubbed the back of his head and started to say something but stopped in the middle of the sentence. "I guess I really do not know what to tell you or to say to you now Sam."
