It was around 2:00 PM, two hours since Malli figured that the surprise from Lindzie was Lindzie herself. Malli was really happy. She was herself again. A dead flower that has come back to life. Malli and Lindzie are now at a coffee shop near Malli's grandmother's place. Malli had ordered a glass of lemonade and Lindzie had ordered a cup of coffee with some milk. Malli paid when they got the drinks, not wanting to pay when they left. The whole time, they spoke Japanese. They swore to only speak English in an emergency or when they didn't want anyone else to know what they were talking about, A.K.A. secrets.
"So, how come you're mother didn't come with?" Malli asked. Lindzie had only come with her father. It surprised Malli that Lindzie's mother hadn't come to Japan with them. Lindzie's father and mother never got into fights. They were what Malli thought was the perfect couple.
"They got divorced." Lindzie said just before taking a sip of her coffee. "Mom and Dad got into a fight about moving to Japan about three months ago. Dad had accepted the offer and thought that mom would like it. He definitely knew that I would like it. I mean hello, we can finally see each other again! Mom said that she liked her job in Canada and didn't want to move, she also said that moving to Japan wouldn't benefit me in any way, so I stepped in and told her that it would because I knew the language and that I could practice it. I also told her that you lived in the area that dad was being transferred to. Mom then flipped out and started screaming at me and yelling at me that I don't have a choice in this and that if dad was going to move to Japan then he could go himself and shit like that. That ticked me off so I slapped her face and yelled at her that she can't tell me that I can't make decisions for myself and that she can't force me into anything. We kind of had a yelling contest after that. She gave up when I told her that if she kept me with her that I would hate her. Two days after the fight, mom got dad to sign divorce papers. My dad got custody of me, I guess you could call I that, and I packed my stuff and moved to Japan with dad."
Malli felt guilt in her stomach. She didn't mean to bring up a painful memory for Lindzie. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know." She said, I tint of sadness showed in her eyes.
"It's okay. I finally got to see you again! I missed ya man! You're my Best Friend. Mom can't make me say no to moving to Japan if you live here!" Lindzie smirked, taking a sip of her coffee before setting the cup on the table.
"What school are you going to?" Malli asked, taking a sip of her lemonade through the white straw.
"Daikoku Private Academy." Lindzie said as she picked up her cup of coffee and took another sip.
"That's the school I go to!" Malli said excitedly, jumping out of her seat and rushed over to Lindzie, squeezing her in a bear hug. Lindzie hugged back, after carefully setting her cup of coffee on the table. Malli let go, grinned and went back to her seat at the table.
"Malli, can I sleep over at you're place tonight? It would be easier on dad to settle in the new apartment. And besides. We have a lot of catching up to do." Lindzie laughed, taking the last sip of her coffee.
"Hell ya! Let's go! But I have to stop at the book store on the way to my grandmother's place, is that okay?" Malli smiled, taking the last sip of her lemonade and getting out of her seat.
"Yup!" Lindzie chirped while getting out of her seat. A worker at the coffee shop came and took the empty glasses as the two girls left.
Malli and Lindzie walked to the book store and immediately, Malli rushed over to the manga section. Lindzie laughed. She shook her head and went to the horror section of the store. As Lindzie was looking at books, Malli grabbed a copy for volume three of 'The Earl and The Fairy' and went over to the journal section and saw a really cute black journal. Malli grabbed a copy, and she saw the same one, but in white. She grabbed a copy of the white version of the journal, and went to the check out and purchased the manga and journals.
One journal for me and one journal for Lindzie. Mall thought as the cashier put each item in a bag. When he was about to put the white journal in the bag, Malli quickly stopped him saying, "Can I have the rapped please? It's a gift."
The cashier nodded and took some black wrapping paper from under the desk and wrapped the white journal and then placing it in the bag.
"Sorry I didn't mention that earlier." Malli said while handing the yen to the cashier.
"That's okay. Everyone forgets once and a while. Well, have a nice day!" He smiled handing the bag of books to Malli. Malli took the bag and smiled back.
"Thank you!" Malli chirped, walking towards her friend and waved at the cashier.
When Malli reached the horror section, Lindzie had three books in her hand. Malli looked at Lindzie. She sighed shaking her head. Typical Lindzie. She thought.
"Ready to go?" Malli asked her friend.
"Yup! I just gotta go pay." Lindzie smiled, flipped her hair out of her face and headed towards the cashier. Malli followed.
"I can pay for you." Malli offered. Lindzie just shook her head. Malli was now confused.
"The night before we took the plain to Japan, he went to one of those money places where you can switch Canadian money to Euros, U.S. dollars, or Yen and switched most of his money to Yen. He gave me some when we arrived at the airport here, in Japan." Lindzie explained. Malli nodded and waited for Lindzie at the entrance/exit to the store.
Lindzie is really good at speaking and reading Japanese. Malli thought as she waited. She can get buy on her own. But I wonder, is she as good as writing as she is at reading and speaking?
Lindzie took the bag of books she had just purchased and walked to where Malli was and they left. Malli lead the way to her grandmother's house as they talked. They talked about the boys they liked and the teaches they hated. They had a lot to catch up on. When they reached Malli's grandmother's house, Malli took her inside and they took off their shoes. She introduced Lindzie to her grandmother and asked if she could spend the night. Yes was the answer and the two girls jumped up and down squealing. Malli's grandmother laughed as they rushed up to Malli's room.
"Oh yeah! The cashier wanted me to give this to you. I think he likes you. He was blushing when he asked me to pass the message to you." Lindzie giggled, handing Malli a white piece of paper that was folded neatly into a square. Malli blushed a light rosy pink. That was the cashier she always saw whenever she went to the book store. His name was Daichi Kiyoshi. They had conversations, Malli wrote on paper and he answered. Malli thought he was cute. She blushed a little more, her face turning a light red, as she realized that he heard her voice. She smiled taking the letter from Lindzie's hand. She unfolded the letter and her face reddened even more as she blushed. She was now the colour of a tomato.
Dear Malli,
Your voice is really pretty. You should talk more. And I think that you're really pretty. And I always think of the conversations we have. I really like you. I was wondering if you wanted to the coffee shop after school on this coming Friday? It doesn't have to be a date if you don't want it to.
I'm not quite sure if you know this, seeing that you never hang out with people at school, but I'm also in your class. I was too shy to talk to you at school in front of all our classmates, so I waited to talk to you while working at the book store.
You can hate if you want. After all, I never did mention that we were in the same class. I was just too scared to say anything about it because I thought you would hate me if I told you. I'm sorry.
Anyway, I know this is straight to the point and it sounds like I'm full of myself. I'm not I swear! I just thought after school on this coming Friday would be a good time to go to the coffee shop after school.
Here is my number, (X)-XXX-XXX-XXXX, text me your answer.

Malli was reader then a tomato. It was a crimson red. Lindzie laughed at Malli, which made her blush even more if that was possible. Malli grabbed her bunny bag and unzipped the zipper at the back of the bunny's neck and reach in, grabbing her iPhone. She set the bad down and unlocked her phone. She unlocked at the number and put it in her contacts and opened up iMessage.
Daichi,
This is Malli. I would love to go on a date with you. I don't mind that you're in my class. That means we can hang out more often. :3 How about at 6:00 PM? That gives me enough time to get ready! I'll meet you at the book store in the manga section at 6:00 PM.
~Love Malli~ 3
Malli pressed send. Her heart was thumping so hard, she could hear it. She was sure that Lindzie could hear it. Lindzie giggled.
"How cute. Malli has a crush. Has a guy even asked you out before?" Lindzie smirked, poking the blushing Malli.
"NO!" Malli yelled, blushing to its max. Lindzie laughed.
"I guess you accepted?"
"Yes. Yes I did."
"Alright. And I will be coming over to get you ready. Let me guess, you want an outfit that will go with the bunny bag I gave you for you're birthday? I'm surprised you still use that. Haha! After you left for Japan three years ago, I went out and bought myself a white bunny one. I couldn't help myself. They are just to cute. And don't worry. I'll make your makeup match too. Thursday, we go shopping."
Malli nodded a small smile on her face and her blush went down back to a rosy pink. She was so happy she got to see Lindzie again. She was so happy that Lindzie had moved to Japan. She was so happy that her crush asked her out on a date. Today, was the best day ever.
I hope he asks me to be his girlfriend. Malli thought, her blush turned to a light red, once again. That will make me the happiest girl in the world.
