"Hey Marth, getting some breakfast without the rest of your crew?" Peach asked, spotting the blue-haired prince from her seat at the breakfast bar.
"Nah, just pursuing a little intrigue." Marth replied, not looking directly at the Toadstool princess, but instead looking around for a particular person.
Peach loved gossip, and exactly who the swordsmen were pursuing would be the rarest piece she's heard in a while, "Intrigue?"
"Since you may not have been aware, Pit was sent to spy on you guys yesterday," Peach feigned surprise at his statement.
"So?"
"So he was a terrible spy. If you want something done right, do it yourself." Marth said, not realizing what he was fully implying, his mind not fully in the conversation.
"Why would you want to know our whereabouts and who we're with?" Peach asked with a sly smile.
"Pfft, no specific reason," He tried to play it off, "At least nothing else other than trying to protect our princesses."
"No one in particular?" Peach attempted to pry open his secret.
"Maybe someone," Marth continued scanning the room, looking for that certain someone.
Peach, knowing he would not open up further, let her attention draw away towards the menu. Whoever the prince wanted to pursue, it was his business. It was only a matter of time before he made his affections known, and then she would find out.
"What the hell is happening over there?" Marth brought Peach out of her musings.
His attention was on the table Peach just left, "Just a double-date breakfast, I think?" Peach teased, knowing that in reality both girls simply wanted to be left alone.
"I knew Samus and Snake were a thing, or at least on the way of becoming something. Word about what happened in yesterday's training room spread quickly." Marth reasoned, however his line of sight remained focused on Zelda, "I was not aware of Shulk ever even interacting with Zelda."
Noticing Marth's intense, analytical stare, Peach replied, "I left Zelda with the two love-birds, I guess Shulk just wanted to make sure Zelda wasn't feeling left out."
"… Interesting." Marth commented before turning around, no longer facing the booth. Instead, he took a seat next to Peach and dialed furiously into his phone.
Peach glanced slightly, hoping to see what he typed without being caught for snooping. All she could gather was the profuse amount of exclamation points. Whatever he wrote, it seemed important. Trying to get a better look, she picked up her menu, to cover her face. However, she did this only to have it lowered right back down.
"Fair princess, I was wondering if you would accompany me tonight." A pleading look on Red's face made her blush.
"I would love to Red, but-" his face fell, to which Peach raised her hands in defense, "No no it's not you, I told Zelda I would help her find a dress for the festival."
"Well how about breakfast together then?" Red asked, thankful to know it was not a fault of his own.
"It would be a pleasure to keep your company, however I do not wish for Marth here to get lonely." Peach replied.
"It's alright, I am already on my way out. Breakfast was good." Marth commented quickly before rushing out.
Surprised, Peach could only say, "… He didn't even order anything."

"It's strange how I have yet to be on the brawl roster in the last two weeks." Zelda commented, "The rest of the month I am also free."
"You know what, the same thing happened to me," Samus said, "I was on for one next week, and suddenly my entire schedule is clear for the next three weeks."
Snake and Shulk looked towards one another, knowing something yet withholding it. Deciding not to comment on it, both girls continued other small talk.
Casually, Snake would place his arm around Samus' waist. She would simply look at him in derision, and yet allow it for a few moments. When Snake tested his luck and tried to get further, it was then that Samus would wretch his arm away.
Zelda spotted Marth suddenly rush through the Mess Hall. Trying to gain his attention, she waved, to which he only stared back and continued to walk out. Feeling dejected at her failed greeting, Zelda looked towards Samus in questioning.
Samus only shrugged her shoulders, "He has his weird moments."
Trying to change the conversation, Snake began. "So Shulk, nervous for the battle in a few?" Snake asked, curious of the response from his enemy.
"Nah, I've already trained a bunch. I am as ready as I could be," He replied between bites of his scrambled egg and cheese.
"Not afraid to lose?" Snake tried to get in his mind.
"If I lose, it's fully deserved. Today is just to get an estimate of my abilities, I don't mind the results."
Seeing that his tactics were not working, Snake only changed his smirk to a frown before digging into the rest of his own breakfast.
"That's a very humble way to view it." Zelda commented, not noticing the miniscule piece of bread left in the corner of her lips. Noticing this, Samus attempted to warn the princess of the stray food.
However, "Here let me get that," Shulk instead came to the princess' rescue. This issued the reddest of blushes to spread from the Harkinian's neck all the way to her cheeks.
"Why, thank you Shulk." To which the swordsman only smiled back, keeping eye contact with her.
"No need to thank you, I would gladly do it again." He replied smoothly, before returning to look towards his plate.
"Well this was great, but I think we need to go, like right now." Samus stated quickly, dragging along the Harkinian princess to leave.
Peach waved goodbye to them from her spot next to Red, to which the bounty hunter and esteemed princess both stuck their tongues out in disapproval. She laughed, before mouthing, "You better tell me about that later!" and returned to her conversation with the pokemon trainer.
"Seriously what the hell was that?" Samus whispered to Zelda, before rushing down and out of the Mess Hall. "I swear, people are going crazy over this White day stuff."
"But you still love it, don't you?" Zelda teased, causing the blonde to roll her eyes.
They made it two feet before interrupted once again, "Hey Samus, I was wondering if you wanted to train?" The brave Falco Lombardi asked.
"Finally, a request I like." Samus accepted, before waving goodbye to Zelda and walking away with the blue-bird.
Zelda smiled in their direction, glad that Samus was finally outwardly accepting the affections of at least a single brawler. Glad to have a moment alone, Zelda considered going dress shopping on her own. However, spotting her best friend simply standing there, she paced over to him.
Link felt the vibrating of his flip-phone, dreading the electronic. He always rejected modern technology, even if everyone used phones, it didn't mean he had to.
He opened it to read, Zelda totally likes Shulk!
Marth, she's my best friend. I think I would know if she liked Shulk. Link texted back, not believing.
Dang you text slow. But she totally does! They're having breakfast together right now.
That text immediately woke him up, bolting out of his bed to change into something more comfortable for outside.
Rushing to confirm the whereabouts of his love, Link got to the Mess Hall doors. Only to stop and wait. If she really was having breakfast with Shulk, Link could not pull her away like he did when she was with Sonic. Deciding to have more strategy, he backed away until he could see through the windows.
Spotting Snake with Samus, he could only be happy for the spy's attempts at wooing the bounty hunter. However, the sight across from them rooted Link to his spot.
It was true.
Zelda and Shulk sat together on one side of the booth, conversing with the pair across from them.
Suddenly, Shulk lifted his hand to remove food from Zelda's face.
Link had only seen Zelda blush at this intensity once before. And now, for the both times he's seen it, the reason was not him.
Feeling his heart sink, he stayed in his spot, unaware of his love getting up and leaving.
Marth was right, and he was wrong. Wrong about his best friend. Wrong about the person who he loved for so many years.
"Link?" the most recognizable voice brought him back to reality. The owner of the voice being the exact last person he wanted to talk to. "Link is something wrong?"
Deciding to hide his broken heart, "Nothing, just nothing."
"Link, you are openly weeping." Zelda replied, not letting Link drop the subject.
"Maybe I cry because I am happy."
"I know you, Link. You don't need to lie to me." This only infuriated Link further.
At this point, Link knew he had nothing to lose in confessing. He was already aware of the object of her affections. Maybe he should declare his love, and allow her to feel guilty for his broken soul.
"Do you honestly know me?" Link asked.
"Yes, I do. And I know something is bothering you."
"So you would happen to know that you are bothering me?" Link bit back, angry at how careless her replies were.
"… Why?" She asked.
"Just your very presence. The look adorning your face when happy. The joyous melody of your laugh, filling my ears with your very own tune. And the look of love you gave Shulk no less than five minute ago."
Zelda's look of surprise changed to confusion. "What?"
"I know you have feelings for him, and not me." Link replied quickly.
"That's not true at all."
"Yes it is, I saw it with my own eyes."
"Saw what? Our friendly interaction?" Zelda questioned.
"That was not friendly—"
Interrupting him, "I've loved you for a long time Link, but you—" Zelda paused, showing her own hurt, "You told the other swordsman how you thought Samus was beautiful, and how I could not compare and gain your attention."
Link decided that miscommunication was horrible, and cut her off with his lips.
"Thank you for spending breakfast with me, Red." Peach said, "It would be a shame to spend such a lovely morning alone. I thank you again for the company."
Red only blushed again. It was hard to tell whether or not the blush was a continuation of the several others, or a brand new blush adorning his face.
"It is truly out of my own indulgence, that I enjoy spending this time with you," Red replied.
"I must get going. I have to find where the other girls scampered off to."
"It would be my pleasure to walk you back home." Peach nodded in agreement, spending the pleasant walk back with the young pokemon trainer.
Enjoying the scenic view and having her thoughts wander back to Marth's strange behavior, Peach and Red strolled in a casual silence. Simply enjoying each other's company.
Once reaching her door, "Let's hope the search for the other two is easy." Red said his goodbyes before waving away.
Unlocking the door and taking out her phone simultaneously, the sight before her caused Peach to drop both items.
Blushing profusely with her mouth-gaped, "What the hell guys?!"
Link stopped his make-out session with Zelda, rising from his spot atop of her. The Harkinian princess was also madly blushing underneath him, embarrassed that her Toadstool friend walked in on their rather heavy romantic affair.
Peach noted Link's messy blond hair, green cap tossed away on the floor. Zelda's swollen lips were prominent, not hiding what the couple was previously doing.
Link moved to a sitting position instead, stating, "Fine, we'll continue this later."
This causing Peach to slam the door back closed, not wanting to be there for all the details, just wanting to know all the details.
