"...and he is just such a bloody prick!" Romana exclaimed, stabbing her meatloaf in anger.
It was Friday night, just our third day of school and Romana was already getting violent with her food, Scorpius had gone missing twice, Anna made friends with the people that were supposed to be her enemies, and I was ready to sit in a electric chair and flip the switch myself!
"I cannot believe that I have to give up sixteen hours of my weekend with him." She moaned, after confirming that her meatloaf was dead. It now just looked like...well, disgusting. Seeing a biscuit was still sitting on the table, Romana grabbed that to eat.
"Next week, take little bits out of the weekday." I advised. It was what Albus and I had done.
For two hours after class everyday, we went to the library and studied silently. We never had to say a word to the other, though I did notice he constantly snuck looks at me. It was aggravating to say the least, but so far, it had taken six hours out of our needed sixteen.
"I'd rather stick needles in my brain." Romana said calmly.
I rolled my eyes at her morbid ways and turned my focus to the salad on my plate.
"Excuse me?" A female voice said politely causing me to raise my head. Standing just behind Romana was Rose Weasley.
"Yes?" I asked, after swallowing. Romana just stared, causing the red headed girl to shift her weight back and forth out of being uncomfortable.
"Um...do you know where Scorpius is?" Rose asked quietly.
What the hell? Where did the self-confident brainiac go? Romana seemed just as confused as I was.
"Er-sorry, no. He just got a letter from his parents and he went to go read it alone." I lied slightly. Yes, Scorpius did get a letter from his parents-this morning. No one in Slytherin could find him anywhere.
"You know, he wasn't in class all day." Rose said casually, obviously trying to see if we knew something.
"Really?" I asked with fake surprise. "Have you checked the infirmary? Maybe he came down with something."
She nodded slightly before leaving.
"Aladdin, please tell me you have an idea of where he may be." Romana said, looking at me knowing she wasn't going to like what she heard.
"Not. A. Clue." I sighed, taking another bite of my salad.
After dinner, I enlisted Walker in helping me find him. Why? He was bored and I was worried, those two things go brilliantly together.
"This is stupid," He grumbled as we walked along the seventh corridor, hoping for any sign.
We tried all his usual places, even went as far to look-shallowly for it was getting dark-in the Forbidden Forest, with no luck. Now, us two Slithers were just looking for any sign of him. Any at all.
It was as we walked along this corridor that I noticed something. There was a door. A door on the left side of the corridor. On the left side of the corridor where there was no door.
What?!
I stopped suddenly in front of the door, causing Walker to walk right into me.
"Are you kidding me?!" He exclaimed angrily, glaring at me. "Thats it! I'm going to bed!"
As he turned to walk away, I grabbed him by his collar and dragged him to the door. However, when I tried to push it open, it stood fast.
Whipping out my wand, I tried every unlocking, opening, and even one bombing spell to get the door to open, but they were all failures. I was so engrossed in trying to get the door to open, I barely even realized when Walker just up and left.
Out of energy, I leaned against the door. "Please, let me get in this room." I begged to no one. "Let me in, please! Ugh, stupid door, just let me in."
Getting up and about to leave, I tried the door once more. Miraculously, it opened.
"Seriously?!" I demanded, glaring at the doorjam. "All I had to do was insult you?! You are a seriously idiotic door!"
Entering the room, I saw that it was small. In fact, the room was small enough to be a broom closet.
Barely a meter by a meter, there was a window seat sticking out of the room with large windows that reached the high ceiling. It was the oddest room I think I had ever been in.
Sitting on the large window seat was Scorpius. He was looking out the windows solemnly, a piece of parchment crumpled in his fist.
"Scorpius!" I exclaimed, happily, throwing my arms around his neck. "Do you know how worried I was?!"
Scorpius remained stoic, not even acknowledging my presence.
"Sco-"
He cut me off by shoving the piece of parchment in my face. Slightly disgruntled, I took it and read it over, my blood starting to boil.
Decree of Prevention No. 15:
All supporters and free Death Eaters are hereby prohibited from practicing magic or having jobs that would involve any contact with the wizarding world. Any contact with the wizarding world is prohibited.
"What does this mean?" I growled angrily.
"It means my mum and dad cannot contact any of us while we're in school." Scorpius seethed. "It was close to meaning that I wouldn't be able to see them, but, thankfully, the minister has a tiny bit of common sense and said that children are still allowed to go home for holidays."
Angry tears stung at my eyes as I clenched the parchment with the discriminating Decree in my hands, trying to will it to say something else.
"Fifteen. We're finally at fifteen." Scorpius sighed with a small smile as he shook his head and held his hand out expectantly.
"What?" I asked, forgetting my anger for a split second as I raised my eyebrow.
"We're at fifteen Decrees of Prevention of Another Dark Lord. Pay up," He smiled.
Grumbling, I pulled out fifteen galleons. "You son of a banshee," I sneered as I dropped the gold coins into his hands. "I can't believe you even care about that!"
"Hey! Its a silver lining in a dark cloud." Scorpius said.
"Whatever-have you been here all day?" I asked, looking at the tiny room again.
"Ya," He shrugged. "I'm tired now."
"I figured," I laughed slightly, glad that he wasn't too depressed about the new decree. How could he? He had just stolen fifteen of my galleons, that git!
We got to the Snake pit within seconds of curfew to find Romana standing outside of the door, banging on it, with James, Albus and Rose right behind her.
"Erm...hi?" I asked, with a raised eyebrow at the four.
"Scorpius!" Rose smiled at Scorp causing him to duck his head as he blushed. "Are you alright?"
"Y-yeah, fine." He stuttered.
It took all I could to not burst out laughing. At the muggle village Scorpius lives at, he is considered the town heartthrob. If he wanted to, he could charm any of the muggle girls off a cliff-without using magic. But put him in front of one Rose Weasley, and he's a clam!
"Romana, what are you doing?" I asked, cocking my head and worrying about my friend's sanity.
"The" she hit the door, "bloody" another pound "door" and another "won't open." After finishing her sentence, she began another barrage on the door.
"You do know we changed the password, right?" I deadpanned, eyebrows raised slightly.
"We did?" She asked causing James to snort. "I mean, of course we did."
I rolled my eyes and surveyed the Gryffindors. "What are they doing here?"
"They wanted to see the dorm," Romana shrugged. "I figured, if they slept over, it would count somehow so I could, shave off twelve hours."
"Romana, you survive on the smallest amount of sleep possible-six hours a night, remember?" I asked, reminding her of her odd sleeping habit.
It was actually almost impossible for her to sleep any later.
"They sleep longer." She shrugged.
"I'm pretty sure that this is against some school rule," Scorpius said as I muttered the password-"Thanksgiving"-and we all walked in.
"I asked my mum, she said it was fine," Rose shrugged.
"Who's your mum again?" Romana asked over her shoulder as she flopped onto one of the couches.
"Professor Hermione Granger-Weasley." Rose said nonchalantly.
"Right, wait-what?" I exclaimed looking at the girl with wide eyes. "Hermione Granger?"
"Yea..." Rose said furrowing her eyebrows.
"Aladdin-eyes back in head." Scorpius said, laughing. "She is slightly obsessed."
This caused me to snap back into reality as I turned to glare at Scorpius. "Am not."
"Are too."
"Am not!"
"Are too!"
"Am! Not!"
"Are! Too!"
"Are too!"
"Are not!"
"Hah," I smiled, looking at a confused Scorpius. "Check and mate."
"Could you two, I don't know, not be weird? I'm trying to study." Dean growled from his spot near the fire.
"Gryffindors are here." I said, causing him to spit out the firewhiskey he'd been drinking.
"What?!" He exclaimed looking up and seeing the three Gryffindors. "Great..."
"You people really don't like us much do you..." Albus realized, sitting down on one of the couches.
"Well..." Scorpius drew out as he laid down on the floor and opening up Sherlock Holmes.
"Yea." I finished sitting down next to Romana, opposite of Albus.
"We never did anything to you." Rose said sitting next to her cousin while James sat next to her.
"No, but your house sure did." Romana chuckled darkly and I could sense what was about to happen.
"Romana-"
"What?" She asked, looking at me with an angry smile. "They obviously don't know."
"Stop." I growled.
"You don't want me to tell them?" Romana taunted, reminding me scarily of her dark mother. "Come on, they think they're sooo...innocent. Kind hearted. Good. They think their entire house is like that. But its not. Its really not."
"Romana..." Scorpius said hesitantly, looking up from her book.
No one knew how to explain what sometimes happened to Romana. Maybe it had something to do with having a bedridden, emotionally abusing mother that she'd had to take care over from the moment she was born. Or maybe it was because half of her DNA came from that insane women. That insane Bellatrix Lestrange neé Black who'd married to Anthony Sattler after Rodolphus Lestrange died. Anthony Sattler, the poor muggle, hadn't known what had happened. He had three children to a woman he barely knew then he was gone, dead.
It didn't matter where it came from, though, just that, sometimes, out of the blue, something will trigger her. Something will cause a switch to flip and she turns into a mini-me of Bellatrix Black-minus the murdering.
Dean leaped up, and grabbed hold of Romana before she leapt at the Gryffindors. Scorpius and I ushered them behind the couch away from Romana where the little Slytherins were asleep. The girls' side of the room had started flooding slightly that morning, so, despite everyone's better judgement, all we could do was separate the girls' from the boys' with a barricade of pillows and spare blankets.
"Don't step on her!" I exclaimed quietly, barely managing to maneuver Albus' foot away from Farrah's head.
"Sorry." He whispered.
Peering over, I noticed that Dean had a fighting Romana pinned on the couch, her hands above her head. He was the only one strong enough to keep her in one place. The last time someone else tried it had not gone well...
It was third year. Scorpius, Romana and I were tossing a ball around on the grounds during Spring holiday. Almost everyone else had gone home except for Scorp, Romana, Dean and I.
"What time is it, Romana?" Scorpius asked as he threw the ball at me.
"Time for you to get a watch." She'd sneered. For some reason, Romana hadn't been in a good mood that day. It didn't matter much afterwards though.
"Well, you're useless." He grumbled.
The next few seconds were fuzzy, but Scorpius soon realized his mistake when he saw her whole demeanor change.
"Scorpius! We need to go get Dean!" I exclaimed, yanking on his arm, trying to get him to come with me.
However, I had always been more like a Will'O'Wisp-always talking but almost never heard.
"Romana," Scorpius said, trying to talk sense into her, walking closer to where she was cackling madly.
In that instant, I took off, running across the long, grassy fields to go find the one person who I knew could defuse the situation.
By the time I had gotten back with Dean, Romana was under a full body binding spell and Scorpius was trembling with his wand.
Dean stalked over to him-furious.
"I-I'm sorry, I-"
"The next time Romana gets like that," Dean growled. "Don't try to be a Gryffindor, be a Slytherin and. Use. Your. Head!"
After that, we always let Dean handle these situations.
A few minutes after going behind the couch, Romana was fast asleep and Dean was back to studying. I turned to the Gryffindors.
"I think you should come back some other time." I said, not meeting their eyes.
Romana had never had a freak-out in front of anyone else, and, since she could never remember what had happened afterwards, we were all worried she'd get sent to St Mungo's if anyone found out.
"What was that?" James asked, seeming slightly scared.
"It was nothing," I insisted, pushing them out of the dorm, "G'night."
Albus' POV
"What was that?" I asked, gaping at the wall we had just come out of.
"She's mad. I have been paired with someone who is mad!" James' complained as we headed to the Gryffindor Tower.
"Be nice," Rose chided. "Maybe if you tried to get to know her, be more friendly..."
"Oh, like you're friendly with Scorpius?" I asked, with a grin.
"A bit too friendly if you ask me. You're gallivanting with the enemy!" James exclaimed.
"Enemy? This is about broadening our horizons, making friends." Rose hinted.
"Yea, you want to be 'just friends' with the boy you've had a crush on since second year." I chuckled causing Rose to punch me in the arm.
"Whatever." She grumbled, with a slight blush as she pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I cannot believe you, Rose, a Slytherin!" James cried realizing what I had just said. Wow, he was slow, she didn't exactly hide it very well. "I thought you had better taste than that! Now I have to give Hugo fifty galleons!"
"You bet on me?!" Rose exclaimed indignantly.
"No, I bet on common sense, but, apparently, you have none." James glared at her.
I rolled my eyes as I said the password- "Christmas"- and entered the common room. We each split off to go to our respective dorms when what I had seen hit me:
Why were all the Slytherins sleeping in the Common Room?
I AM SO SORRY! FOR MANY THINGS!
First of all, I cannot believe how long it took me to get this up. Second, I hate this chapter. I really wish that after so long I had something better to give you but I don't. Its short and basically a filler chapter.
Anyway, I had a poll that I would really like you all to look at. I cannot decide who to pair Romana with or if she should be forever alone. Vote on the pole that is on my bio please! Thank you!
