Chapter 4

So you all voted which I thank you immensely for, you all chose option A, so here is the continuation of this story, from the help of you guys. I'm really enjoying writing this, thank you. Sorry for the immensely late continuation, I have been studying for my a-levels so for that I'm really sorry!

Taking a risk, Lucas approached Brooke. She was still crying, making Lucas' heart wrench with agony. He was walking slowly, trying not to make a sound because for some reason, he thought that if he were to make any kind of noise, Brooke would just run away, scared of someone knowing her despair.

All different questions were running through Lucas' mind as he continued to reach Brooke. Why was she crying? Why was she out so early? Why was she at the beach? Where was Peyton? But, all of his questions melted away when Brooke whispered, still crying, "I need Lucas."

Lucas couldn't understand what Brooke had just said, and why she had even said it. Brooke Davis, the most popular and beautiful girl in school needing him was beyond his imagination. He would have been able to understand if she said Peyton, or even Nathan, but him… why?

Still walking, Lucas decided that him just magically approaching Brooke after she had said that was bizarre and actually quite stalker-like, for him to just magically appear right in front of her was strange to say the least. So, for that, he decided to play cool, quickly, he got his bottle of water and poured it over his face and chest, going for the 'I'm sweaty but I care for you' look, whilst holding his basketball in his right hand. He'd have to make some noise in order for this situation to seem realistic; therefore, he decided to bounce his basketball on the cobble ground on the beginning of the beach.

The noise instantly made Brooke turned her head around, quickly wiping her tears away, yet once she noticed the blonde haired, blue eyed boy was there bouncing his basketball, she relaxed and smiled slightly. Lucas Scott had made an impact on Brooke Davis and he didn't even know it…

Lucas smiled, pretending to be slightly out of breath for his whole act of not being stalker like. "Hey Brooke, you okay?" He asked whilst sitting beside her, noticing that her mascara had ran slightly down her cheeks, to which he carefully wiped away with his thumb.

Brooke smiled, not wanting to lie to Lucas she said plainly, "No." Her eyes wandered to meet his, hazel meeting cobalt blue, she took her chance… Suddenly Brooke enveloped her arms around Lucas' waist and hugged him tightly and longingly. She held him like a child would hold their teddy when they couldn't go to sleep. She held him for security. With Lucas, Brooke felt completely safe even though they had only had one real conversation.

"H-Hey Brooke what are you-" Lucas couldn't finish his sentence. Brooke looked up at him and opened her mouth to say "Thank you." Brooke let out a little chuckle. Compared to Lucas, Brooke Davis was tiny. She was 5ft 4" in height, compared to Lucas who was 6ft 1", and her build was certainly more slender than his.

"Thank you for just caring Lucas, even though we don't know each other, it feels as though I have known you for years. Can I ask you something?"

To Lucas, Brooke seemed like she didn't need any more consoling, but he wanted to know why she was crying anyway. But, before he asked, he wanted to know what Brooke wanted to ask him, so he nodded without hesitation. "Sure Brooke, shoot."

"Would you like to go out sometime?"

Was this a date with Brooke? Lucas actually couldn't believe his luck! But Lucas wanted to act cool; he didn't want the inner dork personality to come out to make Brooke regret her decision. He decided on his response. "Sure Brooke, we can hang out, only if you tell me why you were crying…" Lucas cocked a cheeky smile on his face, making Brooke bite her bottom lip. Lucas had always had that effect on her…

"Erm… I was upset because… because I'm scared of people leaving, people not wanting to be around anymore, people not wanting me. I'm scared of people realising that I'm not good enough in any way and they decide that they don't want to waste any more time with me so will get up and leave. I'm scared that everyone I love will just leave me and not care, like my parents have ever since I was little. I feel like an orphan Luke. A scared little girl who has never experienced real love by anyone, but I'm not a girl anymore am I Luke? No, I'm a teenager, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to be loved. I just… I just don't want people to leave."

Lucas was at a loss. Strangely, all that Brooke had said made absolute sense to him. Her parents leaving her, never giving her any love had made a massive impact in the way Brooke looked at herself and how she was scared of making deep connections. Her only life-long friend was Peyton Sawyer, but where was she now? Probably asleep in her bedroom. Now, Brooke Davis seemed even more beautiful to him.

"You don't have to be scared anymore Brooke. You parents leaving is horrible, but not everyone is like your parents. More importantly, I'm not like your parents. Brooke, to me you are perfect, even though this is our second real conversation, I think that I have seen so much more of you than probably anyone ever has, except from Peyton! Brooke, please don't be scared anymore, because as long as I am your friend, I am never going to let you go. So, instead of going out on a date or something that involves flirting, so you can hide away and build that ridiculous wall that you have built up over the years; let's go out as friends and I can show you a little bit more about me, and my life in Tree Hill. Does that sound good?

Brooke nodded her head and smiled. She kissed his cheek softly, inhaling his sweet scent and smiling in the fact that his stubble had grazed her face slightly. She loved itchy kisses. Lucas was blind, so blind, she thought. Brooke Davis was in love with Lucas and he didn't even know.

She gently got up, with the helping hand with Lucas, to which Brooke also noted that Lucas was incredibly physically fit. She smoothed the sand off of her blue skinny jeans, hugged Lucas and asked, "How is it that you know me so well Lucas Scott?"

"Maybe I'm physic…" Lucas joked, before watching Brooke smile and leave not before hugging him again.

Being friends with Brooke didn't seem like such a bad idea. All he had to do now was figure out what he was going to show and reveal to Brooke. Was he going to introduce Brooke to his friends, Skillz, Junk, Fergie and Mouth? Or was he going to introduce Brooke to his mom Karen, and his Uncle Keith? Both had pros, yet both had disadvantages… so which should he choose?

So, which one should he choose?
