Chapter 4
Emilie and Marie sat by the tree and stared at the failing sunset, their faces reflecting the red light from the sky. As Marie started to doze off Emilie began to look around and she realized that they had nowhere to stay for the night or for that matter at all.
"Marie, MARIE! Wake up!"
She jumped up and shook her head, "Huh, what do you need."
Emilie smiled despite her nervousness, "Marie, we don't have any place to stay, I mean that tree house thing was a great idea, but we don't know magic yet."
Her twin swore and pushed herself off the tree. As she began to pace in circles she started to get an idea, it took about 3 minutes to think it through while Em stared at her; used to her unusual way of thinking.
Marie suddenly stopped walking in circles and turned to face Em, who was staring at her with an amused look in her face. "Yes, are you ready to reveal your masterpiece idea?"
She laughed and nodded her head as she began to gather her things. "Ok, I need you to get all your stuff and put as much of it in this here area, ill be back in a second."
Emilie watched as her sister pulled out her Soy Sauce and took a sip and before she had a chance to ask what was going on, she was gone. The quick thought of following her was dashed when she realized she had NO idea where she went.
Em began to gather her things, knowing her sister would not abandon her, and within a second she was rewarded by her sister appearing, sitting cross legged on a pile of Target carts humming.
The two stared at each other until Marie burst out laughing at the look of astonishment on Emilie's face. She stood up carefully on the rickety carts, there being 4 of them in all and hopped down.
"Ok, I know that this is technically stealing; but we need them."
"Are we going to make a home out of carts? Did I miss something, because I'm really confused right now?"
"That's ok, it's all part of the plan luv. Need to know basis and you don't want to know right yet. Now let's be getting our shit in these here carts."
Emilie shook her head and decided to play along with her sister's plan. Until three minutes later she swore again and ran off out of the woods.
She picked up a stick and threw it after her. "Will you ever tell me what you are freaking doing!!!!!"
Five minutes later when she came back Emilie was no where to be seen but her things were still in a pile. Marie turned around a few times and just figured that she had gone further in the woods to make a pie or something equally random. Not doubting her sister at all she figured she'd wait another five or so minutes before worrying.
Walking over to her things and her two carts she felt something land on her and she crumpled to the ground. She heard laughter and felt a hand smack the back of her head. "Will you tell me what the hell you are doing; you keep going off and leaving me. I'm not moving till you tell me what you've been doing."
"Ok, ok. I'm sorry I should have told you what I've been doing. I can't tell you where were going that's a surprise but I just went to change the tent orders for the Cup; we now are next to the Weasley's. Please get off of me, thank you."
The stood next to each other and looked around nervously, until a squirrel came and tried to run up a tree and then fell down. Marie looked at her sister and they laughed, understanding that they couldn't ever be mad at each other even if it was over something stupid.
It took less than five minutes for them to fit everything that didn't go into their trunks into the carts they had. When they were finished Em looked at Marie because she still had no idea. Marie was standing next to her two carts waiting for her to finish, when she realized that her sister was waiting for her she shook her head and smiled.
"Ok, this is where I need you to trust me, let me see your hand."
Emilie looked skeptic but agreed and held her hand out with mild annoyance. Marie took her Soy Sauce and took a quick drink.
When Em opened her eyes she knew she was standing somewhere completely different, with it being completely dark. She began to walk towards a little light in the distance when she tripped over something.
She heard Marie murmur Lumos and closer her eyes from the brightness of the sudden light. As she slowly opened them she saw that she had tripped over a tent pole stake.
"Marie, is that the tent that we just bought?"
"Yes it is."
Emilie looked at her cautiously; it was usually never a good thing when Marie said things proudly."Ok why is it set up?"
"Because you and I are going to be staying here for a while we learn our book stuff so we can be accepted into Hogwarts, you know they don't let everyone in, we need a reason for them to let us in. We have school to think about now, and that is a serious matter."
"Marie, don't look at me like that, it's scary."
The look on her sisters face made her want to run and hide, the last time she looked like that they had just robbed a bank and probably ruined their uncles career. Not to mention throw him in jail, for a long, long time.
"So are you going to come in?"
"Huh?" Emilie looked over to see that in those few seconds of her daydream her sister had walked into the tent and was waiting for her to follow.
"Yes Ma'am."
"That's my girl. Ah, take your shoes off; you've been walking in mud. We don't want to soil the carpet now do we?"
"I don't think I'm ever going to let you go anywhere alone again, it does bad things to you. Wow!"
Emilie hadn't actually looked inside the tent when they were shopping for it; she had glanced out the window and saw that the quill and parchment shop had a 50 sale so she left the tent shopping to her twin. Looking around she was glad that she had, she wasn't sure if she could have done such a good job.
The rooms were burgundy in color with a star pattern in gold and a red oak trim. The 'living room' was spacious; there were two couches and two comfy chairs in the center, sitting in front of a blazing fireplace.
Off to the left of the main room was what appeared to be a full kitchen with a dishwasher and a refrigerator there was a two sided sink with granite countertop and a full set of cabinets.
To the right of them was a corridor, walking down it she saw there were four doors. As she walked she opened them, each room had its own mini bathroom in it, the two main both had their own showers. The two on the left side were two bed rooms that seemed as if they were for the adults.
The first had a silver accent; the carpet was white, while the walls had silver stars and a light blue background, the bed had a comforter that was an ivory color, feather pillows and a feather undercover.
The second was the opposite of the first, being a blue background with light blue stars. The bed appeared to be the same, but a later inspection would show that instead of an ivory comforter, it was pale blue.
On her right the rooms were more directed towards the children, in each room there were bunk beds and a small desk equip with lamp, one quill, and ink bottle and one standard stack of parchment.
The first of the two rooms was red and gold, not unlike the living room. The comforters on these beds were of course red and gold. The desk appeared to have red handles on it and the carpet was also white as in the adult rooms, with the exception with the mirage of gold speckles in it.
The second room was green and silver, the comforters also being green and silver. And there was an illusion of silver speckles in the white carpet.
Spinning around she saw Marie leaning against the beginning of the corridor smiling. "You knew this was awesome didn't you, and…oh my gosh!"
Marie beamed proudly, "So you like it?"
"Hello!!! Have you looked around, of course I bloody love it!"
"Yeah, well you know that I am the best, so what else is there to say?"
"Very funny, let's go to bed now. Ohh, wait our stuff. "
"Don't worry; ill handle it you just continue checking out our crib."
Okeydokey nutcase. You go do that, I'm fine with it."
With that she walked off down the hallway turning into the bedrooms probably to decide which room she wanted. "I get the silver room!!!"
Emilie stuck her hand out of the room and flipped her sister off.
Marie laughed and began to get the four carts and their two trunks into the tent before the mosquito's got her. It took longer than expected when she realized that the cart would not fit into the side of the tent, so she had to take everything out of the carts and place everything into their respective rooms.
When she was finished, and was sitting on the couch, only then did Emilie come out of what ever hiding place she had been in. Seeing the questioning look on her sister's face she shrugged and said "shower" as if that fixed everything.
"You hid in the shower so you wouldn't have to help me?"
"Of course, where else was there to hide."
"What ever, let's go to bed, I am exhausted, having actually worked today!"
"Hey watch it, I was kept in the dark, that's a hard thing to do after all."
"Oh I'm sorry, you must have burned many a calories, aye?"
"Heck yes, so I think this is goodnight?"
They had come to Marie's door, "Yup, ill see ye in the morning, don't forget to mention ma and da in your prayers."
"Of course, you two, goodnight."
Marie watched her sister until she saw the door close, and only then did she go into her room. Leaning against the door, she realized that for the first time since her parents had died, she had her own room and could do what she wanted.
Running over to her bed she began jumping up and down in glee. Turning on the lamp besides her on the nightstand she grabbed her old radio and her new laptop and plugged them both in and gathered her things to take her shower.
Looking in the medicine cabinet she realized that there was a tooth brush, tooth paste, a hairbrush and a full array of soaps.
When she got out, there was only time to read the first chapter of her Standard Book of Spells Grade one, and try the first two spells before she passed out.
Turning out the light and setting her alarm for nine, she curled up one side of the bed said a quick prayer for all those who mattered in her life, including her 'sinning in jail' uncle and then fell asleep humming the saints go marching in.
AN: Sorry this baby took so long, AP History just got over May 11, and I've been busy trying to get rid off all of those wonderful papers and horrid memories. Now that the wonderful class is over I should be able to write more. I'm not sure whether I should write shorter chapters and make this story MANY more chapters than planned, or if I should continue making them longer, not this chapter specifically but you understand.
Your thoughts would be mucho appreciated.
