Sorry, this chapter is really crap, but I really wanted for it to hurry up a it and let Ben and Addie meet!
Rosa told Adderyn all about how her brother Logan became King and after a trip to Aurora, had changed. That he had become evil. A tyrant. Then she went on to how her brother had forced her to choose who would die between a group of innocent rebels and her sweetheart Elliot. Unable to choose, they all were killed. So, with the help of Walter, her beloved dog Knight and her friend and butler Jasper, they fled the castle. They went into the catacombs, and upon touching her father's guild seal, she found out about her destiny and her new powers.
She only paused to eat her stew before resuming her story.
Walter and Rosa then decided to start a revolution, upon the orders of a blind, gypsy seer called Theresa, that only Rosa had seen. (Adderyn wasn't so sure what to make of that.) They had made allies with the Dwellers of the North, the leader of that group being a short old man called Sabine. Now they were on the way to Mourningwood to recruit Major Swift (an old friend of Walter's) and the rest of his men, who were no longer loyal to Logan.
"So, umm. Well I know we only just met, but would you like to join us? You would be a really big help and when I become...Queen, you wouldn't need to hide in the forest anymore. You could have your own house and-"
"Okay. I'll help. But with all due respect, please stop talking and get some sleep." Adderyn spoke softly.
"Okay. But here. You need a weapon." Rosa handed her a sword. But it was too dark to see much else. Walter decided to take first watch. And the two girls slept soundly.
In the morning, just before dawn, Adderyn was woken from her slumber by Rosa.
"Hey, I noticed you didn't have any other clothes apart from the ones on your back so here." Rosa thrust a bag into the sleepy girl's face.
"Umm, thanks." Adderyn smiled, still half asleep. Inside the bag was two white shirts, one plain brown skirt and a pair of leggings.
Hopping up, Adderyn went behind some trees, stripped off her old rags and put on one of the shirts and the leggings. Miraculosly the fit her perfectly. Walking back to the clearing, Walter had woken up and they were all ready to resume the journey to Mourningwood.
Unfortunatley that meant going into a deep, dark, cave. Yay...not. A creepy almost childlike laughter filled the air.
"Hobbes!" Walter spat, drawing his sword. "Nasty little buggers...Fun to kill- so squishy.
Rosa grabbed her pistol, ready to fire in a heartbeat and Adderyn drew her own sword, clumsy in her rough, calloused hands. Then the hobbes came out. Walter cut down any of the sqishy buggers that dared come withing slashing distance. Rosa fired shot after shot. Not missing a single one. Adderyn on the other hand, was not much help at all. She mangaged to kill a few but was clumsy with her swings after not holding a sword since the day she was bitten. But she wasn't completley useless at least. She only needed practice.
Finally after an age, they made it out of the hobbe infested hell hole...into a fly infested swamp.
"Ughh. This place is disgusting. Are we there yet." Rosa moaned. Adderyn silently agreed.
"Stop complaining...though I must say these flies are bloody murder!" Walter sighed. "But look, there's the gates." Walter pointed happily. After about ten minutes they were standing outside the gates.
"Stop!" A voiced ordered from above. "Be you men or hollowmen!" He yelled. Walter rolled his eyes.
"Have you gone soft in the head boy? Open up the bloody gates!" he roared. After stuttering an apology the young man opened the gates.
They all walked in, Knight, trotting ahead and Adderyn trailing nervously behind. She kept her head down until they stopped walking and recoiled shocked. In front of Walter was the strangest assorsment of men that Adderyn had seen (so far at least). First there was the man shaking hands with Walter. He had a massive moustache the dominated his face and Adderyn had to stop herself from smirking at the impressive piece of facial hair. Next was a young (possibly) man that was covered head to foot in bandages. And the other was...well beautiful. With tanned skin, touseled blonde hair and the brightest blue eyes ever, Adderyn thought he was breathtaking. Adderyn listened to Walter and the new people speak.
"Rosa, this here is Major Swift. Swifty, this is the Princess." Major Swift introduced himself. Then the blonde man introduced himself.
"Hello. I am the one and only Captain Ben Finn. Pleasure to meet you, your majesty." He bowed low and winked flirtily to Rosa...Who didn't react in the slightest.
"Hello Captain Finn. I'm Rosa." she said stiffly. Then the Captain's eyes noticed Adderyn.
"And who is this?" he asked, smirking in a very flirtatious manner. Adderyn then became all too aware of the fact that the closest she had come to having a bath in a few years was swimming in the lake every week until it froze over every winter. And with the trip in the Hobbe cave and walking through the swamp, she was less than clean.
"I'm Adderyn." she mumbled.
"A pleasure to meet you." he kissed her hand lightly, cerulean eyes, shining, in the light of the fading sun.
