I just felt like updating this one first.

Deal with it (puts on black glasses and pushes them up, making them reflect eerily.)

Lol, enjoy.

Sorry that I haven't updated on some others, I've had project after project in my school and I've had to take care of some things, with exams and drivers ED crap. (The school also took our laptops earlier than expected so I've had to use my Dad's computer)

I'll still be able to upload sooner or later…. *looks away sheepishly*

0000000000000000000

I heard a warning signal before my body rammed into the trunk of the tree for the 30th time, pain flickered through my system for a second before I recovered and my health bar instantly restored- which made me mentally thank Kami that my HP recovery was actually high. Though it would be awkward explaining why I looked perfectly uninjured, other than the dirt on my face, where others would normally have scratches and bruises from the rough bark and collisions.

I pulled a twig from my mixed-matched hair, the white-blonde and black strands of hair sipping through my fingers like water. Gon and Leorio outright burst out into fits of laughter, gasping for air, like the last thirty or so times I somehow managed to hit trees as I flew, though Gon always tried to ask if I was alright despite almost choking on his laughter each time. Kurapika managed to snuffle his chuckles but the beasts' didn't bother to hide them as they flew high above the tree, unlike me.

If you're wondering, I just so happened to want to practice flying my wings. Yes, the beating of my powerful shark-like wings felt as natural and effortless as breathing, but direction and controlling the height and distance from obstacles were another thing. I wasn't quite used to the huge span my wings held proudly and my tail feathers would sometimes get caught and yank me back.

I need a hell of a lot practice getting used to my wingspan, judging the distance I need to maneuver myself through small openings and calculating how close to bring my wings in. So as Gon and the others leisurely flew above; I practiced trying out different angles of my -surprisingly flexible- wings.

I adjusted my body as I flew, slowly becoming more aware of the space my new appendages needed, and how the slightest tip of my wings could completely change my direction. (One of the many reasons I keep flying into trees.) The one good think that came out of ramming continuously into trees and trying to dodge passing animals or startled birds, was that I gained a new skill from it.

Radar and Projectile Perception Permanent - Passive Level. 3

- Gamer is capable of sensing the surrounding area and anything projected near her.

- The ability to sense something being wrong, dangerous, suspicious or lies

The ability is worth it in the long run, I could sense things around me to some extent, so I suppose that would also take some grinding up on with the levels. Thankfully though, my Flying Master was slowly growing (Currently at Lvl. 9) - to the point where I learned the moves called-

Aerial Ace – Level 4

Acrobatics – Level 10

Much to my amusement, it reminded me of my day's playing Pokémon as a child. An obsession you could call it, I once cried because I accidentally deleted an episode. Good times…

Acrobatics was automatically level 10 when I got it, because I was an Acrobat. I had to practice a little on aerial ace, which made my wings glow, destroying some of the trees before I hit them.

After a few more hours of attempting to fly through the forest unharmed, one of the Kiriko finally must've pitied the newbie-flyer (ME) and swooped down with Gon to give me some tips and show me how to maneuver, though their wings greatly differed from mine.

"Your wings can easily change direction with the slightest angle, so you have to figure how your wings work. Though, you remind me more of a shark with wings!" As the Kiriko laughed, I sighed. Apparently, the thought of a mutant shark-bird was hilarious.

I should really just get a book on flying and absorb the information through my gaming ability.

I suppose it would be considered cheating, but it's because of my ability, so its good thing.

Listening to the Kiriko's long winded story about him learning to fly when he was a 'child', I followed his tips and figured out how to fly without crashing into trees for the most part, though the vines kept trapping me. Finally noticing the Kiriko's silence, I glanced at the beast staring at me as it effortlessly dodged.

Bastard.

The beast's clawed hand grabbed one of my wings when I was about to fly into more vines and angled them directly on the rim of my wings. The thick vines were easily cut through like butter and my eyes widened with shock, my jaw slightly gaping. Due to my surprise, my tail feathers glinted for a brief moment before being lashed out to the tree in our way and shredded it like it was paper. The thin pieces of bark scattered below us, making both the beasts and Gon's expressions almost as priceless as my own.

A screen flashed up and it read:

Flying Mastery 12

Bonus: Cleaver - side ability to transformation

I suppose that the transformation has other side-abilities. Also, to my luck, my flying mastery jumped a few levels. I would thank the Kiriko specifically for that but it would sound rather odd, "Hey Mr. Beast, thanks for your tips and all, it raised my flying mastery by three levels!" Yes because only my gaming ability could 'recognize' or 'read' the levels of skill I had and what others had.

So I went with the simple option.

"I appreciate your help, Kiriko-san." Apparently, the beast themselves were level 8, and they had flying mastery up to 32.

Cue face palm. Well, technically, tree-face.

I rubbed my nose and ignored my companion's laughter.

OoO

The city was loud and crowed with people bargaining and in the market areas for fresh foods as Gon got distracted by the weird-looking foods and items. Now, if I actually had time to buy something, I might have. Though the sounds of the busy civilians and markets were too loud, making my ears hum, much to my irritation.

A herd of children ran past me, brushing and slightly pushing me aside as they giggled and chased after each other. Another salesman held up some sort of phone. "Young miss, would you like to buy the new Liberace phone? It some with a built in camera, high speed searching station, GPS and-" Others crowded around suddenly and their voices mixed together before I shoved them out of my way, not bothering to be polite.

I hate crowds.

Following the Kiriko's son- the others had left before we entered the city after helping me jump my Flying Mastery to 15- we walked through the crowds of people and towards the exam sight. The Kiriko- disguised as a human- paused and pointed in front of us at a huge building. "It seems that is the building."

The three all turned to the tall skyscraper of a building, but I had doubts that it would be that. Hunters don't seem like they'd been in one venerable spot to get bombed and would more likely be in a small unnoticeable or hidden area. So I watched the three walk over to the building and study the building as I stayed with the Kiriko. (A/N: They actually never give their names in the anime)

My world map was updated, showing the area's we had passed and… For some reason a large area on the far side of the world. Hmm. Fanning my face, I made a breeze flow around me to rid whatever body odor was in the air from all the civilians crowding around and pulled my hair up into a high pony tail. With my side bangs framing my face, I took a second to blow the hair in between my eyes.

Focusing back on my three companions, I snickered at their expressions when the Kiriko showed them the correct address for the Hunter Exam. We turned to look at the modest restaurant beside the tall glass skyscraper. Ignoring Leorio's complains, we entered and the Kiriko casually spoke with the cook. "What will you have?" The cook asked.

"The steak combo that opens your eyes to the light… for three." Kiriko told him. Something that I guessed was a key phrase to get into the exam area.

"How would you like them?" The cook asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Grilled over a low flame, until cooked."

With that, we were allowed in the back room. Darn talking about all that food made me hungry.

"Wait here." The Kiriko told us.

"Wait? Where are the others?" Leorio's looked around the small room.

"I can't wait for the steak combo." Gon mentioned, grinning. Did I mention that I love this kid? He reminds me of Mitchell. Though a much sweeter, innocent, and puppy-like version of him.

"Gon…" Kurapika seemed to find it funny too, "that was just the password to get us inside." Kurapika explained.

"Oh, we don't get to eat." Gon said, looking slightly dejected. Containing a squeal form his cute-ness, I ruffled his –surprisingly- soft spiky hair with a chuckle. I reached in my bad and pulled out a bento that I originally was saving for school before appearing into this world. Surprisingly the teriyaki chicken and home picked green beans were still fresh like it was just made minutes ago and warm. Wonder if my inventory keeps items completely protected from time passing or from getting too cold or hot.

"Here, I made this at Mito-San's house with a special container so it's still fresh." Gon's grinned and hugged my shoulders, sitting happily to dig into the food with sparkles in his eyes. Leorio's stomach growled and I grinned, making him scowl. "Sorry I don't have anymore, other than this banana here." It was swiped out of my hands and shoved into Leorio's mouth before I even finished.

"Sanks." (Thanks) Leorio muttered with his mouth full. To his annoyance, I stood up on my toes and ruffled his hair like I did Gon's. He swatted me away, half-heartedly glaring when I snickered at his expression.

"Once in every ten thousand…" The Kiriko started, grabbing our attention. "The number of applicants who make it this far," He elaborated. "You've done extremely well for first-timers. Well, good luck." Gon stood and held out his hand.

"Thanks!" The Kiriko stared at his hand for a moment before accepting it with a smile.

"I would be happy to serve as your navigator next year, as well." Humph, he makes it sound like we're going to fail. Just as he left the room and shut the door, the room shook and began slowly descending.

"It appears this room is an elevator." We all sat down and Gon finished up my bento before handing it back with a grateful smile. Kurapika began to explain how stressful the exam's physical and mental strain is on a person, which is how so many fail. Leorio and Kurapika started to argue about whether being a Hunter is for money or glory before almost dragging Gon and I into the argument.

Though, the elevator stopped at B100 before we could answer. Gon and I sighed in relief the two of them and kicked the two in the back of the knee, almost making them fall over.

"Oh, yeah… being a Hunter is obviously for the fun of it, idiots." I shrugged and sighed like they were a helpless case and skipped away before they could argue. "Besides, you can kick everyone's ass-"

Kurapika placed the palm of his hand on my head, smiling with an obvious threat. Gon blinked innocently and tilted his head in confusion, where Leorio laughed at my misfortune.

OoO

The applicants all turned to watch us like creepers as we walked in. The air was tense and sending off my Radar perception or 'spidey senses' as Spiderman calls it. They all turned away, glares following them when Gon raised a hand and greeted them with, "Excuse me?"

"Rude." I snorted and hugged Gon, rubbing his cheek against mine. "How dare they, shall I tie them to a tree, my dear Gon?" The boy in green found this completely normal, not even blinking in surprise, rather he hugged my torso with one arm.

With a casually devious look and mischievous glimmer in her bronze eyes, the said boy grinned and hugged me in return happily. "Nah, they seemed stressed enough." The dark, gloomy and heavy air in the equally dark room was incredibly tense and I felt a few were agitated, so I decided to agree with Gon.

We were handed our numbers from a weird green blob-like thing, I got 406 and pinned it to the sleeve of my black shirt. "Haven't seen you guys around before!" A voice greeted us, but I ignored it. My radar deemed him not a threat, rather the drinks he had in is bag.

Glancing at Gon, who was being as friendly as always, my mama bear mode clicked on. My bronze eyes narrowed in a glare and a slight squeak escaped him as he took a step away from me. To intimidate, and maybe for a bit amusement, I gave him the universal I'm-watching-you sign.

I reached into my bad, opening my game inventory inside so it didn't look like it appeared out of thin air – which would draw attention to me, AKA. I don't want any- and pulled out my tonfa's, clicking them into place on my belt along with a pouch of throwing stars and daggers.

I wanted to find some time to increase my accuracy with the throwing stars and daggers, and to level up some of my skills. Maybe earn myself a few points on my character status. Preferably take some time to stretch out and warm up with some acrobatics or-

I was snapped out of my thoughts as a man pushed past me rather rudely, making me almost fall on Gon, thus ending with my glare at the back of his ugly hair-due. Though, it seems karma already had it out for him as he bombed into another man's shoulder, someone whom I was getting powerful vibes from. My bronze eyes watched the scene cautiously, as the red-haired clown-like man looked over at the man.

The man's screams echoed through the underground area, attracting everyone's attention. My own eyes had managed to catch the split movement before the vanishing of the clown's attack. Blood splattered around the man, a drop landing on my cheek before I sighed and whipped it off. The man's arms slowly seemed to disintegrate, blood flying like flower petals in the wind as the man trembled.

The clowns' voice was low and amused, "Oh, how peculiar. His arms seem to have become flower petals." The man's body slumped to the ground, lifeless from the blood loss. "No smoke and mirrors here." I wasn't really bothered. My few memories I retained from my father – despite him often vanishing for long periods of time before returning- I knew that my father loved a good fight and had often told me stories of more gory things than what I was witnessing now. He was an awesome father and was the one who introduced me to Master Tifon.

Near me, Gon gasped, slightly afraid and shocked. I felt him clutch my hand as the clown continued to talk, "Be careful. When you bump into people, you really should apologize."

"That psychopath is back again." The piggy guy said- didn't really listen when he introduced himself- then explained. "Number 44, Hisoka, the magician. Last year, he was a virtual lock to pass-"

I listened in silently, Hisoka or whoever, wasn't my business, but the information on some of the other applicants could be helpful later. Bringing up the character profile, the ones he named were listed and the information appeared as he spoke.

Though I was thoroughly disturbed when I noticed that Hisoka's opinion of me was that I was 'Interested' when I hadn't even realized he had noticed me. Or rather, given me enough time to hide behind Kurapika, proclaim going to the shrines to become a monk and living in harmony forever.

The piggy-man handed us all a drunk as a token to mark our 'acquaintance'. Studying the drink, my radar told me what I already knew. Also, the whispers from the others were easily caught by my sharp ears. Gon was too oblivious and nice to nose into their conversations.

Poison detected, sorted into non-threat, Gamer immune.

Safe to drink without any side effects.

Rolling my eyes, I already had known that by looking at it, thanks to Master's 'wonderful' poison training, it would be incredibly difficult to find a disease or poison I am not already immune too. Tilting my head, I realized something possible. Different worlds= different poisons and different diseases.

I shuddered. Now I'll have to build immunity up to those poisons. Or at least, question Master about what exactly could possibly affect me. Great… fantastic. I glanced over at Gon, who still held my hand comfortably as he spit out the 'weird-tasting' juice with Kurapika and Leorio doing the same. Shrugging, I downed the juice easily. Might as well, I was kind of thirsty either way.

Thankfully, I had stored some water bottles in my gaming inventory if needed as well. But hey, he offered. I might as well save mine for later.

OoO

I was running beside the examiner for the first phase, easily matching his pace despite his weird walk of walking/running. The pounding of the applicants echoed off the walls and the heavy breathing of a few with less endurance and lower level was evident, they were not going to last long. Due to the nature of humans, someone was bound to discourage or take out the weaker applicants.

Currently, my passive assassins silence ability was working like a charm along with my Weishun Breathing Technique making me soundless or at the very least, ninja-like. Both of which activated and leveling gradually.

This was easy, Master has made me run to the city four miles away from my house and run around the city through it to get the groceries and carry them back while tugging him along on a huge tire wheal and 50 pound weights on my arms, legs and middle.

To be mean, he made me carry the 100 lbs. grocery bags also.

Yeah, he's a monster. Or as Robin likes to call him, "A Captain Zaraki look-alike" which, she told me he was this guy off an anime who was battle-crazy and so insanely powerful than he had to wear an eye patch to limit his Reiatsu -Whatever that is- so people could actually be a challenge to him.

The no-mouth examiner had introduced himself a while ago – I lost tract of time in this gloomy place- as Satotz, the Phase one examiner. I fell back and jogged near Gon, noticing that many of the other applicants had already started to give up and fall in exhaustion. Apparently, a few applicants thought this was going to be a breeze and greatly underestimated the exam.

Briefly shaking my head, I brought up my Status window mentally and checked my stats, studying and looking through the choices that I could add my eight points two. Adding two points to my speed, three for my dexterity, I contemplated where the last three points should go. My intelligence gained points by itself whenever I studied for a long time or read. Defense I didn't find as important if I'm fast enough and because I prefer being all-out offensive. So deciding, I chose one point for strength, constitution and stamina.

CON (Constitution): 22

SPD (Speed): 26

DEX (Dexterity): 25

STR (Strength): 19

Stamina: 25

LUK: 20

I mentally slapped myself when I realized my Luck went up by 5 points by itself without a notice window or anything. Confused, I searched for possibilities or things that would up the points. The sound of wheels caught my attention and momentarily made me forget about my luck points changed.

Fluffy white hair was the first thing I saw, then blue eyes staring at me casually with a blank expression. Wearing baggy clothing like I liked to do most of the time, the boy 'awarded' me with a weird look when I crossed my eyes. The boy shifted to stare at Gon curiously, then looked back and me and suck out his tongue, pulling the lid of his eye down as he rolled on his skateboard.

How unusual, but didn't Robin rant on about other characters from anime's with weird hair like 'mine'? She liked to annoy me how my blond hair looks more platinum blond or white and because the majority of my hair was black, that I was secretly a Shinigami or something. What did having black hair having to be a god of death?

I blew the strand of hair between my eyes up again and grinned. My bronze eyes widened slightly at his title, giving the boy a deadpanned stare.

Assassin Heir

Killua Zoldyck

Level 19

Well, that's interesting. Though the same age, he was six levels higher than me. 'There will always be someone stronger than you', may be the saying, but strength can't be determined by level alone. Or as the game system I was operating with, many skills, higher agility, defense or personally quirks could make a difference.

Then again, Leorio was level 9 and Kurapika was level 14.

Leorio blew up at the poor assassin, but I ignored them as Killua joined Gon, jumping off his skateboard to jog beside him, thus jogging by my left. But seriously, running without doing anything else was boring, so I formed shapes with the water from a flask Mito-san gave me. Continuously forming different shapes, I hardly noticed when Killua glanced my way curiously watching my little puppet performance with the figures of water. "Oh, that's Vlarus-chan. She's my big sister and she's twelve two!" Gon grinned.

"Oi, Mizu-oba." Killua nudged me, pointing at the water that formed into a miniature Killua when he distracted me. "How are you doing that?"

Not sure how else to explain it, I shrugged, grinning to the side when a tick mark throbbed on his head.

I wasn't completely distracted from my water shaping to not find it obvious to see the immediate bond that was formed between the fluffy-assassin and Gon. As the hours passed, I found myself jogging near Leorio as I pushed him forward encouragingly. He stopped, putting his hands on his knees and panting as I pulled out a water bottle for him to drink. He chugged it down, giving me a pat on the head as a thanks, still struggling for air.

Waiting, Gon stopped in front of us, looking back with Killua. "Hey, forget him." Killua urged. "Let's get going, you coming Mizu-oba?" Gon and I watched Leorio as a sudden burst of energy made him surge forward, passing the two. Gon fished up Leorio's suitcase near me and Killua watched in awe. Snickering, I passed them, hearing Killua and Gon chat behind me.

OoO

Eventually, we were running up the stairs, which reminded me of the time Master Tifon and I went on a camping trip for a week and he made me hike nonstop up and down the mountain side while carrying him on my back. Carrying a 250 or so heavy man was not easy. At the end of the week, I built up so much lactic acid I'm my legs and arms that I couldn't walk or move without looking like I was 392 years old.

Then again, when I think about it, my strength points should be much higher than just 19 points. But it could have something to do with my theory that it means that the stats can go very high and were rated rather harshly on certain stats like strength. For instance my intelligence stat was lower than most would expect if they knew about my gaming ability. If my intelligence and strength was rated normally like in normal games in my original world, I would estimate my INT to be around 28 or so and my STR to be about 30.

So far the theory is pretty good, but not exact. Something is missing.

Leorio abandoned his shirt and Kurapika removed his parka-thingy, both of which I carried for them because I volunteered. I watched the two with a grin, mentally hearing Robin squealing in my mind, 'Fan-service!'

My endurance stat had gone up a point once, so I was sort of content at the moment. Though I wished I could run full speed and maybe gain a few speed stat points.

"Scarlet eyes." Kurapika spoke to us both, his eyes flickering to my bronze. "That's why the Kurta were targeted. We Kurta were known for our unique scarlet eyes. When our emotions are heightened, our eyes turn scarlet, as though on fire. The eyes in that scarlet state, are considered one of the seven most beautiful colors in the world."

"That's why the Phantom Troupe attacked you?" Leorio asked. I frowned, scenes playing out in my mind as I contemplated what it must have been like to be Kurapika at that time. A sudden pound of unforgettable sorrow and undeniable rage shook me before I blinked out, confused.

"They took every single eye from my brethren's corpses. I can still hear their darkened eyes crying out in anguish… I swear I will capture the Phantom Troupe!" Kurapika swore. "And I will reclaim the eyes of my clan."

"So that's why you want to become a Hunter?"

"Yeah, if I become a Hunter with rich clients, I'll gain access to black market information." Kurapika told us.

"But you'll have to swallow your pride and become the kind of Hunter you despise!" Leorio warned.

"The blow to my pride is nothing, measured against the suffering my clan endured." Kurapika finished and the silence spread between them before I commented.

"Don't give them the satisfaction of watching you suffer. Rise up and prove your worth, prove the worth of your clan and destroy those who did you wrong." My bronze eyes locked on him, before observing ahead of us. "We lose ourselves in the things we love. But we find ourselves there also." Smiling sadly, I whisper, but know he can hear me. "There are days were I wish I could bring someone back, spend the day with them one more time, give them one more hug, kiss them goodbye or hear their voice again. One more chance to say 'I love you', before that person has to return to the dead." And I fear I have lost much more than I know of.

Kurapika was silent, studying my passive expression intensely. Then, his hair overshadowed his eyes and he nodded, once. Leorio, in turn, began his story, the story of his childhood friend sick with a debilitating illness.

"-The problem was that the operation costs a fortune. I was naive! I thought I could become a doctor. I wanted to cure kids who have the same disease, and be able to tell them it was free of charge! Then I could have told his parents, too. That was my dream… what a joke. It turns out that to become a doctor, you need even more money!" His teeth clenched and his voice was loud. "Got it, the world runs on money… so I want money!"

Sympathy filled me, I felt I could relate in some ways. My mother was frail and got sick easily, often unable to move for long periods of time or she had an attack that left her trembling and blood over my hands. So I often had to use money I got from monsters in instant dungeons, borrow from Master Tifon- who made me do chores as compensation (or just to piss me off)- or I took up many jobs at once. Sometimes, I skipped schools on days without tests to do extra jobs for cash.

I remember taking care of that frail woman, who at times clung to me, or at others screamed and yelled in fear of me, of not remembering me. The rare times where she was normal were fading away, but I still feel the warmth of unconditional love inside my chest whenever I was near her. I remember flashes of memories, watching my father stress out and vanish without a trace for… so long. The thought of losing them both, brought me to tears, even while knowing my Father was long gone.

My mother was an only child and my father's family was unknown, so we had no one to rely on other than Master Tifon, who was more like a father to me. Doctors in my world had reported that my mother had a few more years at least to live from an unknown disease that they couldn't name.

Master Tifon had told me it was my father's fault for my mother's sickness, but she never hated him for it. The one time when I was five, she had left for two years with my father, leaving me with Master Tifon who had cared for me then. I believe she must have caught the disease wherever he took her. Except, the doctors in my world couldn't help my mother even if we had the money for an operation.

I was shaken from my thoughts when Killua and Gon joined us, "See you at the goal, Kurapika."

"Catch you later, old timer."

"I'm not old!" Leorio yelled, "I'm a teenager, just like you guys!"

"Huh?" "No way!" Even Kurapika looked at him with disbelief. I burst out laughing at their expressions, having known that Leorio was a teenager by looking under his character profile and his opinion of me. I remember my similar reaction when I read it, I just hid it better.

Apprentice Doctor

Leorio Paradinight

Status Relationship: Ally/ Friend

Opinion: Vlarus seems too young to know or understand things I've told, but I noticed she acts much older than she really is. And she likes to annoy me. When she's not being a brat, I feel like she understands why I wanted money in the beginning. But I know that I can trust her and that she would be the best of allies or the worst of enemies. Despite acting childish, the glint of strange wisdom in her eyes is there.

OoO

I waited for the rest of the applicants to get out of the tunnel, standing with the examiner Satotz as I stretched out my arms and legs. Gon and Killua jumped up just after me, arguing who won the race. "I beat you both." I teased, smiling when Gon pouted, declared I cheated and said I didn't count, then dragged Satotz into the conversation.

My eyes scanned the heavily foggy forest, silent as death, but I felt many eyes on us. The murky forest would easily cover me if I transformed. Gon's warm hand in mine swung as he chatted excitedly with Killua. Again, I handed another water bottle to Leorio, who chugged down half and gave the rest to Kurapika. Both gave a nod of thanks.

Numere Wetlands

+3 Sensory

+6 Mana and health Regeneration

+20% water-based attacks

+25% chance of attacks causing frostbite or freezing solid.

Satotz gave a description and warning of the forest. "Don't let them fool you!" A voice yelled. A bruised and beaten up man poked out from the corner. "D-don't fall for it…" Rolling my eyes as the man pointed to Satotz, "He's lying to you!" Satotz's deadpanned star was hilarious, causing me to chuckle under my breath. "He's an Imposter!"

Lie

My Radar Perception tingled, easily spotting out the lie the unknown man gave. The man pulled out a money Satotz look-alike and confusion rippled among the applicants. My body trembled at holding back laughter, looking back at Satotz then to the look-alike; I couldn't hold it and burst into fits of laughter. I couldn't hear the man explain as a few people around me looked at me like I was crazy.

I noticed Hisoka near me and danced to the side, out of the way as his hand blurred pasted and shot three cards at the man and Satotz. The man froze and fell back slowly, dead as Satotz caught them easily. Hisoka, next to me, shuffled his cards and giggled/chuckled with a pleased smile on his face.

"Well" I started, "That was one way to figure it out, the examiner of the Hunter Exam couldn't be weak." I muttered, crossing my arms and leaning away from Hisoka, who smiled at me creepily with half-lidded eyes. I simply huffed indifferently and looked away in time to catch the Satotz look-alike open its eyes and run off like its ass was on fire.

"Yes, my dear." Hisoka agreed, having heard me and explained to the others how the unknown man couldn't have been the real examiner. A flock of huge vultures swooped down and started to devour the man's corpse.

"Nature really can be brutal to watch…" Leorio muttered as all the applicants watched the carnivorous birds prey on the corpse.

"So he was a Man-Faced Ape, as well." Kurapika added, agreeing.

"He was attempting to confuse the applicants, to lure some of them away." Satotz told us casually, his expression never-changing.

"We cannot relax our guard." Killua complained, Gon agreeing.

"You will be encountering such deception on a regular basis," Satotz walked through the crowd of Hunter applicants. "I believe that a number of you, were fooled into suspected my identity?" Satotz said and I noticed Leorio and some bald-headed ninja/monk grinning, laughing and rubbing the back of their heads sheepishly. I put a hand to my head and sighed at their idiocy.

"Do you understand? If you lose sight of me in the Numere Wetlands fog, you will never reach the exam's second Phase." Well, I can see through the fog quite easily, so that shouldn't be too big of a problem as long as I can see him or smell him. By the way, he smells suspiciously of cucumbers. "Do bear that in mind. Then, let us be on our way. Follow me." He briskly ordered turning and running his weird way.

Soon, we began following after Satotz again, through the fogy wetlands. I left myself fly over the tall grass, easily getting balanced and moving over the cold, muddy, wet ground. My eyes adjusted to the fog, and everything was tinted blue, making it easy to see through the fog. Thanks to Gon helping me enhance my senses (Though his were far beyond mine), I could smell Leorio's strong cologne, Kurapika's scent of the forest, Gon's animal-like scent of the forest and herbs and Killua's that of chocolate.

Weirdo's.

The tall wet grass brushed against my legs, reaching up to my thighs as I practically kept skipping- due to me constantly running and jumping- Killua complained that I looked like I was a kangaroo. Eventually, I caught up to Satotz and took to jumping silently through the trees, the bark rough against my hands when I stopped to check up on my gang. Ahead of the group, I jumped down in front of a swamp and crouched down to pear into the murky water.

My bronze eyes were clear and almost glowing in the dark, but the pupil and the white of my eye was a foggy or misty blue. I leapt back into the trees and watched signs or the applicants or Satotz approaching. "Tracking Activate: Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Leorio." A 3-D map of the area pulled up and the four were in code colors. Gon, green - Killua, blue – Kurapika, crimson – Leorio white.

Gon and Killua were together, Kurapika and Leorio were together, growing further apart by the minute. I could only tract those I consider in my group, because my tracking skill was only Level 10, nor could I see great details on the land around us. Sighing, I considered Gon safe as long as he was with Killua- he was higher leveled than me, so he could protect Gon and himself.

Therefore, I swiftly switched directions and traveled quickly in Leorio and Kurapika's direction. The trees cleared and the roaring of animals –huge by the sound of it and the quakes they caused moving- made me pause.

What the hell? Dinosaurs? Really? First it was zombies, next dinosaurs. I swear, If there are sparkling Vampires I'm out of here. The dinosaurs also have some kind of trees or fruits on his back- seriously…

I hissed under my breath and jumped into the clearing, running at top speed over the mushy ground and keeping my balance over the stomping of the dinosaurs. I skidded to a stop beside Kurapika, who looked disgruntled and nearly jumped when I appeared out of the fog.

"Vlarus? How did you find us?" Kurapika asked, but we were distracted when Leorio was blocking the dinosaur's teeth from clamping down on him with a log. The dinosaur swung him around, nearly breaking the log with its jaws when Kurapika and I leapt high into the sky and crushed down on the dinosaurs head. Kurapika's nunchaku dove into its eye, and I did the same with my tonfa's.

Blinded and in pain, Leorio fell off and landed harshly, where's Kurapika and I jumped off the beast and landed, me more in a crouch. We all ran off into the wetlands forest. "How did you find us, Vlarus?" Leorio whispered.

"I can see through the fog or mist. Elemental Advantage, I suppose." I shrugged, "That and I tracked you down."

"But we've lost sight of the front-runners. I don't suppose you see them, either, Vlarus." Kurapika stated.

"Nope, but I could probably track down Satotz's scent if we're at a certain distance." I glanced at him, carefully monitoring our surroundings due to a sudden killing intent nearby. "I'll tell you if I can." At Kurapika's nod, my radar perception went crazy, alarms ringing in a notice window.

I swung around – almost getting a whiplash- and noticed Hisoka. I stopped and dove to a low crouch on the forest floor. A moment later, the two did the same after noticing Hisoka where I pointed.

Surrounded by several men, Hisoka was leaking bloodlust none of them were skilled enough to notice, smiling in amusement. He held up his weapon, a game card and the men attacked together. Looking over his shoulder, in a second, the air split with his speed and the men dropped like puppets with their strings cut. One man standing, or rather crawling, Hisoka killed him when he cried for help.

Taking his card out of the corpse, Hisoka's eye turned to us, his smile widening as he locked onto our eyes. "Well, care to participate, in my little game of examiner?" Hisoka approached us casually, making me stand from my crouch, ready when Kurapika called our attention.

"Vlarus, Leorio. On my signal, we run in opposite directions. He is vastly more experienced in real combat. The three of us won't stand a chance against him. Vlarus, if you can, transform and keep a bird's eye view, try to find the main group and return to us if possible. We cannot afford to squander time in a pointless fight!" It was obvious Hisoka was far stronger than us, he could kill us whenever he wanted.

Closer now, Hisoka pulled a card between his fingers. Stopping near us, he brought the card up, face down. Muscles tensing, the caw of the bird came just before Kurapika yelled out, "Now!" The three of us bolted in opposite directions. Kurapika to the left, Leorio to the right and I ran back. Glancing over my shoulder, I noticed Leorio stop and turn back- walking back to Hisoka and hissed harshly. I've got to check on Gon and Killua, make sure their safe and set a tracking marker to lead us back to the main group.

Forcing myself to keep going, and knowing I was the fastest of us, I took no time blurring out of sight as fast as my body could carry me. I had no time to go back; hopefully they can stall Hisoka until I return. "Sea-Bird King!" I whispered, feeling the wings grow from my back and the muscles in flex in anticipation.

The fog was dispatched when my wings brought me off land, my blood pumping through my veins and my heart beating harshly against my chest as I flew high into the sky, erasing my presence. My hair whipped around me, and I followed the scent of Killua, whose chocolate scent was easy to find and he was jogging with many others moving – making me deduce he was with the main group.

The winds above flew with me, letting me glide and shifting Killua's scent along with Satotz. After what felt like hours, I circled above them, my bird-vision powerful and picking up the applicant's small figures below. Killua jogged with the others, but there was no sign or scent of Gon. Dropping the tracker – making sure it landed on Killua and voiced a recording that told him it was me- and ignoring the notice of my skills or abilities leveling up, I served around in mid-air and I returned the way I came, picking up Kurapika, Leorio and now Gon's scent near each other with Hisoka dangerously looming somewhere.

I felt Hisoka's bloodlust stronger than ever and furiously beat my wings to force myself to go faster. Luckily the finishing point isn't too far, so by the time I returned, I watched Hisoka punch Leorio into unconsciousness below me. Gon jumped at him, swinging his fishing rod. Hisoka's body turned to smoke, "You came to rescue your friend?" appearing behind Gon when he landed, then again when he jumped back. "Such a good boy."

He dispersed into smoke once more, appearing near Gon with a rather happy expression. "And that expression…"Gon swung his fishing rod at Hisoka multiple times, trying to get him, while Hisoka casually tilted side to side, easily avoiding the attacks. "Good, good. I'm getting excited now…" Shivering, I watched as Gon's attack brought up dirt as a distraction and Gon flew around to attack once more.

Flinching harshly, I sky dived down, faster and faster. Gon struggled in the hands of the enemy, whose hold on his throat tightened. Deaf to Hisoka's words, I yelled out, uncaring if he saw my transformation and landed like a bird on his arm. I deactivated my transformation as I fell, my hair slipping out of his binding and floating around like mad eels. "Roaring." I commanded, the words coming out on its own. "Razors." My hair came alive, fanning out and attacking cutting Hisoka on his cheek and collarbone as he leaned back. He released Gon, who collapsed and coughed, trying to catch his breath.

He leapt back, eyeing my hair with a creepy smile and made a sound in the back of his throat. My hair fanned out dangerously, sleek roaring water rushing over the strands as the moved like a shield around Gon and I. The highly concentrated, razor sharp, pressured water whips of my hair lashed around threateningly.

"Vlarus-chan." Gon whispered hoarsely. Flashing came, two quick for me to react and pinned me down to the ground by my clothes. Hisoka's cards. I hissed angrily, thrashing but froze when he crouched down to Gon. Automatically, my hair returned to normal, water vaporizing into the fog. "Do not fear. I will not kill your friend. He passed." Hisoka smiled and chuckled. "Yes, you pass, as well. Grow up and become a fine Hunter." He smiled and shifted his gaze to me, smiling when I glared at him. "Of course, our little girl here passes too. Such an interesting technique… where did you come from-"

A ringing noise came from Hisoka and he paused, taking out a walkie-talkie. An unknown voice came through the machine, "Hisoka, you should get back here. We're nearly at the two phase site."

"Okay, I'll be right there." Hisoka turned and walked away, saying to Gon over his shoulder, "It's always good to have friends. You can find your own way back, yes?" Gon nodded soundlessly, I just blew out an annoyed breath, ignoring his chuckle of amusement directed towards me. "That's a good boy. Good little girl."

We were left to pant in the deadly silence of the wetlands. Gon looked at me and crawled over shakily, when we heard Kurapika call to us.

"Are you both all right?" Kurapika yelled, jogging over to us. He crouched down with Gon, both working to release me.

OoO

We followed Gon as he led us with his nose, eventually I could smell them two. With our noses in the air, we looked like puppies. "This way." We voiced at the same time, jogging down the path.

"You can really tell?" Kurapika asked, trying to catch the scents we could smell.

"Uh-huh." Gon nodded.

"Yeah, Gon taught me how when I stayed with him for a while, but I cannot smell Leorio as well as Gon." I tilted my head calmly, though still slightly irritated at getting defeated so easily by Hisoka. "I feel like he turned me into a cat. Meow." I pawed the air for example, grinning when Kurapika raised his eyebrow.

"Leorio's cologne is very unique. I can smell him from a few Kilometers away." Silence for a moment before Gon continued. "Say, Kurapika… what did Hisoka mean when he said that we passed?"

"Hisoka was acting as a judge."

"A judge?"

"Yes." Kurapika affirmed. "He must have his own benchmarks for evaluating power. It's possible that he was ascertaining each applicant's strength. Apparently, you, Vlarus and Leorio must have met his standards."

"I see." Gon understood. "But I was powerless to do anything against him. Vlarus-chan had to risk him seeing her transformation when she saved me."

I ruffled his hair, "Don't forget he pinned me to the ground with cards. I could barely even see him throw them, much less blink in time or react."

"Didn't you land your first hit on him?" Kurapika asked.

"Only because I surprised him." Gon said, "Besides, Leorio passed, even though he lost… and Vlarus cut him because he was surprised when she dropped from 'nowhere'…."

"Hmm… Perhaps he sensed that you were kindred spirits." Kurapika suggested.

"Kindred spirits?" Gon asked.

"I seriously doubt that Hisoka could qualify as a Hunter. However, I must admit that he did impress me with his superhuman agility and graceful technique. It is quite common that those possessing special talent are drawn to others with unique gifts. Most likely, Hisoka's instincts and experience told him that you had the skill and potential to become Hunters. Killing you now would have been a waste… that was his perspective." Kurapika deduced.

Nah, he's a creep.

"Oh, I'm sorry! Was that insensitive on my part?" Kurapika realized.

"No… but I was pretty excited, as well." Gon said and I smiled. "I was so scared, I wanted to run away. But I couldn't. And at the same time I was excited. Strange, right?" Gon smiled over his shoulder at us.

"No, not strange at all, Gon. You just love a good fight, a strong opponent." I paused and picked up Gon and hugged him too me. "Isn't that right?" I cooed, rubbing my cheek against his.

I felt him laugh and Kurapika chuckled beside me, a sweetdrop obvious. "Yeah!"
