So my muse was working over time today and was just too excited to keep this chapter from you guys so here you go!
Sam smiled to himself a he plugged the camera into the TV. He had set up a live feed of another camera that he had set up earlier. His companion had blown up pictures of six people laid out in front of them. Right now the feed showed all six in a glass room talking and looking at a full board. Two were women and the other four were men.
Sam watched as 'they' drew a line through the older man's picture. He had figured that they were going to say no to that man but he never knew with 'them'. After a small bit, 'they' drew a line in both women's pictures. Sam smiled. 'They' had good taste in help so far. Sam looked up and watched the feed too.
The last three were intriguing to him. There was a tall white man with dark hair that seemed to be the boss. He radiated power and authority even through the camera. Next to him was a dark skinned man that was fit but looked like he could easily lose his temper. Across from them at the board was a tall lanky man that looked more like a boy. He had a mop of brown hair that kept getting his eyes.
Sam watched the feed for what felt like a long time before he caught a glance of the marker moving. Another picture with a line through it. He glanced down and was surprised to see that it was the boss man.
Sam just shrugged before he stood up to make some dinner. Usually they would but he let them be. Sam made some microwave dinners and brought them one. He ate his dinner at the table.
He went back into the TV room and found they still hadn't made a decision. Sam frowned. He sat down next to them.
"What seems to be your problem?" He asked. It was getting dark now and he figured that the choices would be leaving soon. They answered him without looking away from the feed.
They said that the dark man would be great for the labor and for reaching the high places but the kid would be better at helping paint. Sam looked at the feed and then back at them. He slowly nodded his head in understanding.
"How about I will choose between the two?" They glanced at him at that remark. They gave him an accepting nod before asking if they could stay up and watch the feed till they all went home. Sam smiled.
"Sure just remember to turn it off." They thanked him and turned back to the feed. Sam thought about it as he locked the doors and headed to bed. May be he would just take whichever one was alone. Sam just shrugged his shoulders and got in bed.

She wanted to cry. They were going to do it again but this time he wanted a cop. He always made her pick what he called help. They really were just people he used so she wouldn't be in once place too long and he would kill them afterward. Just because they tried to escape he would kill them. She shook her head and looked at the live feed he had hooked up.
Half of the choices had gone home already but her favorites were still there. The young one was rubbing his eyes and staring at the map he had. The dark one and the other white guy were sitting at the table going through some files.
She hadn't lied to Sam when she said that she could use both men but what she had failed to tell him was that she could probably get all that she needed from the tall man with the dark hair. The first time Sam had made her choose, she had just done it randomly but she learned quick to choose those who might survive. Now he wanted a cop.
She didn't want to choose. Especially from this group. They all looked like they had good lives and didn't deserve it. She watched as the boss sent the boy and the dark man away but stayed. He looked at the board from his seat at the table.
She just wanted to reach through and mark exactly where she was on the kids map. Sam thought she didn't know exactly where they were but she knew exactly where they were. The kid had drawn a large circle and if he had just pushed the line out just a touch farther, the line would have ran right across where they were.
She sighed and studied the man one last time. It was almost like he could feel her gaze and looked right at her. She imprinted his face into her memory and turned off the TV. All she wanted was not to hurt these people and for it all to stop.
