Tails slowly opened his eyes. In his groggy view he could see machines and tubes extending from him all around the room. To his right there was a curtain that seemed to separate the room. He noticed the oxygen mask over his muzzle and his eyes immediately shot open.

What's going on? Where am I? What am I doing here? What happened to me? As all these questions blasted through Tails' mind, his heart rate began to rapidly increase. The heart monitor that he was attached to began to beep at an extremely fast pace.

A gray female cat nurse bursted into the room and to his side. She reached into her apron and pulled out a syringe filled with some type of clear medicine and injected it into Tails' arm. The medicine calmed the kitsune to the point where he almost fell asleep and his heart rate began to drop back down to its steady levels.

"Mr. Prower, you have to remain calm." She told him. Tails didn't respond, as the medicine seemed to be taking an immediate effect. "You should try and get some more rest. You're nowhere near being fully recovered... and you wouldn't want to disturb your roommate." She said pointing to the closed curtain that separated the room. Seeing that he was still unresponsive, she decided that it was time to take her leave and she exited the room, slowly and quietly closed the door.

A blonde female human with glasses was sitting at a desk filing her nails. Sonic and Amy approached her in a flash and startled her, causing her to drop her nail file.

"We're here to see Tails." Sonic told her.

"What's the last name?" She asked, popping a piece of chewing gum in her mouth.

"Prower." Amy answered. The woman proceeded to look over her list. Sonic tapped his foot impatiently.

"Hmm... We don't seem to have a Tails Prower here, but we do have a Miles Prower. Does he go by that name?"

"Yeah that's him. Where is he?" Sonic asked.

"You can find Mr. Prower in room 738 on the seventh floor." She answered. Sonic grabbed hold of Amy and rushed down the hallway. "Wait!" The receptionist called out. "Don't you want your visitor's pass?!"

Sonic held Amy as he dashed through the halls.

"Sonic, you just passed the elevators."

"Elevators are too slow. We're takin' the stairs." He answered. Amy sighed.

Classic Sonic… She thought to herself. The blue hedgehog opened the entrance to the staircase and zoomed up, flight after flight.

3… 4… 5… He counted each floor he came by in his head. 6… 7! He opened the door to the seventh floor and dashed in. The floor was rather wide with doors for patient's rooms all over the place. Amy walked door to door reading the numbers and it seemed that they were not in order.

"Hmm… This door says 703, but the one after it says 713." She walked to the next room door. "This one says 723." Amy sighed. "They're just not going to make this easy…" Little did she know, Sonic had already searched the floor for the right path and was on his way back to her. "So I guess we need to find the path with the eigh-"

"Found it." Sonic said, running up behind her. He picked her up again and ran straight down the hall around two corners and stopped.

"This is room 708. If I'm right, Tails' room should be the fourth door down this hall." Amy began to walk on her own again. "718… 728… 738." Amy twisted the knob and opened the door. Both Sonic and Amy's spirits dropped upon entering the room and seeing Tails in a bed hooked up to various machines and tubes in the room.

Tails… Sonic clenched his fists. I swear I'm going to make Eggman pay for this!

"We should ask his doctor about his condition." Said Amy.

"Amy? Is that you?"asked a voice as someone peeked through Tails' cracked room door.

"Cream? Thank goodness you're ok." Amy ran up to her young friend and gave her a hug. "I'm so sorry for leaving you… My mind got so caught up on finding out who that guy was that saved us, that I just…"

"It's ok Amy." Cream smiled in understanding. She had a few bandages and gauzes wrapped around her, but she was definitely in better shape than Tails was. Sonic pulled up a chair and sat beside Tails' bed, listening to their conversation. He wanted to question them on who it was that ended up saving them, but decided it wasn't that important. He sighed.

"So Cream, tell me… How did this all happen?" Sonic asked her.

"Well… it all started when I was visiting Tails…"

Tails was in his basement/underground workshop while Cream was upstairs in his kitchen preparing an ice cream sundae for herself and Tails. Inside the sundae bowl were three bananas surrounding a large pile of vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate syrup and a cherry. Cream was completely proud with the outcome. After grabbing a spoon, she began to taste the glistening dessert.

"Mmm!" She hummed with delight. "This is amazing! I've really outdone myself this time. Cheese would have loved this. I wonder what Tails will think." Cream said smiling. She picked up the huge bowl off of the counter and walked her way over to the table, setting it down. She walked back into the kitchen and returned with two bowls, setting them on opposite sides of the table. "Perfect." She ran to the entrance of Tails' basement and called for him. "Tails, our dessert is ready!"

*Thunk* was the first thing she heard in response.

"Oww…" She heard Tails moan. "Be right up!" He said. Cream giggled, knowing that the fox must have banged his head on the plane he was working on. She walked back to the kitchen and waited a moment. Tails finally entered the kitchen. He was covered in oil and grease. "Wow that looks great Cream!" He said, looking at the glistening dessert.

"Aren't you going to get cleaned up first." Cream pointed at his oil soaked fur.

"Oh right…" Tails said, rubbing the back of his head. "I guess when you bathe in oil as much as I do, you get used to the feeling." He walked down his hallway and around the corner.

"I hope this doesn't melt before he's done." Cream said to herself. "I'll set it in the fridge just in case." She walked back to the table and reached out for the sundae bowl.

*BOOM!*

A sudden explosion blasted through the entire house. Cream, along with the table and dessert were sent flying into the kitchen. She yelled in pain as her back slammed against the refrigerator.

"Cream?!" Tails called running back towards the kitchen. The room was covered in dust and smoke and there was a large gaping hole in the roof. "What's going on…"

"Tails, behind you!" Cream alerted him, making him turn around.

A crimson light seemed to shine through the dust before heavy metallic footsteps and whirring could be heard. Out of the smoke stepped a shining chrome robot that stood at about 10 feet. The robot's mercury powered eye shifted to Tails. In a blink, the titanium titan swung its arm, connecting with Tails' stomach and knocking him into a nearby wall.

"Ugh!" Tails grunted in pain. Before he could pick himself up, the robot dashed through the air with great speed and grabbed the fox by the head before slamming him into the floor. The wooden floor gave way at the moment of impact and a now unconscious Tails heavily fell to the floor of his basement.

"Tails!" Cream cried. "Tails get up!" She quickly whipped out her cell phone and tapped Amy's contact name. The phone took a moment to connect.

"Hello?" Answered Amy from the other end.

"AMY!"

"And that's what happened." Cream finished explaining to the two. Tails had woken up half way through the story and was secretly listening in. "The robot definitely looked like one of Eggman's."

Sonic sat quietly with his eyes closed, as if he was thinking to himself.

"I guess it's time to pay Butt-nik a little visit." He said, standing up with seriousness gleaming through his emerald eyes.

"I'll come too." Amy said, standing up as well.

"No. It may be too dangerous." Sonic replied. Amy wagged her finger with a slight smirk.

"I'll have you know that I held my own against that robot before that mystery guy showed up. Besides that, I've been honing my skills." Amy explained.

"It's true." Cream cosigned. "Amy was really amazing."

"I'm not some damsel in distress anymore." Amy smirked, clenching her fist.

"Is that so…" Sonic smiled. "I don't think you've ever being that much of a damsel in distress to begin with."

"True." Amy agreed with a smile.

"Cream, can you stay here and watch over Tails?" Sonic asked the Rabbit.

"Of course, Mr. Sonic." The rabbit answered. Sonic and Amy turned to leave.

"Wait…" Called a mildly weak voice. Sonic and Amy turned around to see Tails, eyes open.

"Tails!" Sonic rushed to the fox's side. "You ok buddy?" Tails removed the oxygen mask from his muzzle.

"Take me with you… to Eggman's."

"No way buddy. You're in no condition to go out the way you are now." Sonic told him. "Me and Ames can handle this and be back in no time."

Tails slowly stood up from his bed and removed the tubes from his body.

"Tails!"

"I'm the one who Eggman attacked… I was caught off guard, but I can handle myself now."

"Even so, you're still in no conditio-"

"Even if you don't take me along, I'll just follow you." Tails said, with a serious expression.

"Tails please…" Cream pleaded with worry in her face. Tails' defiance came as a shock to Sonic. What was he trying to prove? Tails could barely control his breathing and wouldn't be much help the way he was now.

"These injuries… are nothing." Tails said, taking another step forward. "I'm asking you again… Take me with you Sonic." Sonic pondered this for a moment, staring deeply at his injured buddy.

"Alright…" Sonic said shrugging his shoulders. "If you're sure."

"But…" Cream butted in.

"Tails, how do you expect to do anything in your condition?" Amy asked.

"I have something that can treat these injuries… but I need to get to my workshop to use it."

"Something… that can treat injuries?" Amy blinked her eyes in confusion.

"Sonic, I need you to take me to my workshop." Tails requested. Sonic allowed the fox to climb onto his back.

"You're surprisingly lighter than Amy." The blue hedgehog remarked.

"What was that?!" Amy clenched her fist and stared death at Sonic.

"Uh… Nothing." Sonic looked nervous, throwing his hands up in surrender. "I'll swing Tails to his workshop. We'll meet up after that." He replied. Amy calmed herself.

"Alright. I'll go ahead and take Cream home." Amy said, looking at her younger friend. In a blue flash, Sonic and Tails were gone.

"You and Mr. Sonic seem to be a lot closer these days." Cream said. Amy blushed.

"Wh-What do you mean by that?" Amy asked. The rabbit just stared at her and smiled.

Tails' basement workshop was a complete mess. There was debris littered all over the place. You could look directly up and instantly notice the large gaping hole in the above floor and roof. Sonic allowed Tails to climb off his back and limp over to a nearby table. Tails opened a drawer, pulling out a small container. He opened it and took out a small orange tablet pill. He placed the tablet in his mouth and swallowed it. Seconds later he began to grunt as his eyes shot open. His bruises and cuts began to completely fade away. He relaxed and exhaled.

"Much better." He said, turning to Sonic with a smirk. Taking one hand, he reached to his head and ripped off the bandages, letting them go as a breeze carried them away.

"Wh-What did you take?" Sonic asked, completely in awe.

"One of my latest inventions." Tails replied. "I call it the Nano-tab. It can heal your entire body and restore your strength in just a matter of seconds."

"How did you invent something like that?"

"By creating nanobots. Inside one tablet is exactly 700,586 nanobots that make their way through the body, repairing and healing cells crucial to recovery and speed up the regeneration process." Tails explained. Sonic scratched his head and whistled.

"That's one heck of an invention you got there pal. Definitely beats going to the medic."

"Hey!" Called a voice from the above floor. The two looked up to see Amy right before she somersaulted down through the opening in the floor. The two looked at her stunned. She was able to make a complete wardrobe change before coming. She now wore a short blue sleeveless dress that stopped a little past her midsection and had a black sash around the waist section. She wore black tights to cover the remainder of her legs. On her hands were black gloves and on her feet were blue boots that had black soles on the bottom. Some of her quills were tied into a ponytail using a blue ribbon while the remaining quills were left as bangs.

"Whoa… Ames." Sonic stared at her in surprise.

"I thought that I should dress for the occasion…" Amy said, blushing. "I hope I didn't go overboard." She looked over to Tails and gasped. "Tails, you look all better and healed, but… how?"

"I'll explain on the way. Since we're all here, we should just head straight to Eggman's from here." Tails said, walking over to a rack. He grabbed a pair of goggles and a utility belt from the rack and put them on. "Ok, now I'm ready." He stated after sliding the Nano-tab container into a pouch on the belt. He motioned for Sonic and Amy to follow him to his plane, the Tornado. He surveyed the plane and spotted more than a few scratches and dings caused by the collapse of the top floor. He started the engine to ensure the plane was still in working condition. After seeing that the Tornado was able to start without any trouble, he gave Sonic and Amy a nod. Sonic jumped onto one wing of the plane while Amy jumped on the opposite wing. "Hang on tight!" Tails told them. "Hatch open!"

At those words, the part of the floor that the plane sat on slid open and the plane began to descend lower onto a platform. Once the plane was completely underground, Tails yanked back a lever and the plane took off at great speed, entering a tunnel. The plane shot through the tunnel at a breakneck speed. Amy looked around before noticing they were flying through some sort of sewer tunnel with lights surrounding it as if it were some sort of runway. Moments later the plane emerged from an opening below an outside bridge and soared into the sky.

"Eggman, we're coming for you."

AN: I was going to discontinue this story because not many people were reading it, but I've changed my mind. This story is like my baby, so I'm probably going to write it even if no one is reading it.
