Chapter 4
Isabella pulled her Purple VW Bug into the parking lot of Danville's resident FBI agency building, walked in and asked the secretary at the front desk to direct her to Agent Cho's office, the secretary replied,
"Sure, his office is on the 5th floor, at the end of the hallway, but you're gonna have to wait a bit since he and Agent Nagata are out on Lunch Break."
"Alright, thank you ma'am." Isabella replied
"You're very welcome." The secretary said with a smile
A Lunch Break with Agent Nagata? Aren't they supposed to be looking for Phineas instead of flirting with each other? Isabella asked herself as she got into the elevator to get to Agent Cho's office. Isabella walked down to the end of the hallway, and to her surprise, the door was wide open. She took a seat in one of the black plastic chairs in the room. Agent Cho's office was fairly organized, with various file folders placed on his desk. Isabella then spotted a tiny Bonzai tree next to Agent Cho's nametag. Isabella remembered that Agent Cho always enjoyed messing with the Bonzai tree, he always said that it made him feel, "calmer" which was fairly strange in her opinion, but Isabella didn't think too much about it. She turned and looked behind her seat and saw beautiful Chinese paintings of a crane in a pond. Directly to the left of that painting, she saw a quote framed on the wall and she stood up to get a clearer view of it. It read,
"If you look into your own heart, and you find nothing wrong there, what is there to worry about? What is there to fear?"-Confucius. Isabella didn't know what made this quote so special, but it seemed as if it was speaking to her indirectly. Just then Agents Cho and Nagata walked in.
"Oh! Isabella, what are you doin here?" Agent Cho asked surprised.
Isabella took a deep breath and stated to the two FBI agents,
"You two are going to tell me where my boyfriend is and you're going to tell me now!" Isabella shouted.
"Calm Down Miss Garcia Shapiro!" the seemingly quiet and friendly Nagata yelled. "I will not tolerate yelling in my office!" Nagata frowned and regained her composure, "Understand?"
Isabella shrank and shrewdly said "Yes, I'm sorry."
Agent Cho sighed and said "Alrighty Isabella, have a seat, we have some things to talk about."
Agent Nagata walked in with Cho right behind him. Cho closed the door to maintain as much privacy as possible. Agent Cho took a seat next to where Agent Nagata was and began,
"Alright Isabella, thing is, we can't give you information on an on-going investigation. Special Agent Nagata here can only publish bits and pieces of information if she feels that they are vital for the investigation. That's why your updates from me were short and brief."
"But that doesn't answer my question Ben. I want you to tell me if my boyfriend is alive or dead!" Isabella yelled.
"Isabella! Did you not listen to those words that I just said? I can't tell you, Agent Nagata can't tell you, and it's FBI policy I am sorry!" Agent Cho shot back.
"Look," Agent Nagata interjected "The thing is, with so few leads and so few sightings and evidence Isabella, the case has gone cold. And if you take into account the amount of time that has passed, my team and I have…"
Isabella couldn't take it, she knew what Agent Nagata was going to say next, and she burst out of the room, tears streaming in her eyes. She ran down the stairs and out of the sliding doors and out to a park across the street. She broke down with her head in her lap, sobbing. No, it can't be! How can they be searching for a body? Even now? They haven't been looking for that long! At that time, an idea popped into Isabella's head. With that idea, she took her iphone out of her purse, and with a deep breath, decided to call together a…meeting. If the FBI won't find Phineas, then I guess I will!
