I finally finished this chapter...*sighs in relief*
I don't own vampire diaries.
A hard thud awoke Stefan from his sleep. The clock read 3:00 A.M, He inwardly groaned. It was probably just Damon and Bonnie. He wasn't in the mood to hear moaning noises and the headboard of Damon's bed hitting the wall, so he just turned over and placed the pillow over his head, and went back to sleep. Hours later, Stefan awoke again and proceeded down the stairs, to the kitchen to get a blood bag. Instead he found Damon sprawled out on the couch drunk out of his fucking mind. "You're shitfaced…" Damon was silent; his bloodshot red eyes were glued to the floor; he never looked up, at least not for ten long minutes of awkward silence. Stefan had to leave the room; he didn't know what the hell was wrong with his brother.
If Damon didn't want to talk Stefan wasn't going to pry it out of him...he was his brother not his fucking parent. The grey eyed vampire walked back into the room, sipping on a blood bag as he sat down across from his brother. Damon spoke up, his voice scratchy and hoarse. "The girl I asked to marry me left me last night…." His brothers' eyes were the sizes of saucers "So…wait, you were fucking serious when you told me that you were asking Bonnie to marry you? I thought you were joking…" Damon's eyes finally rose from the floor; they met Stefan's face. He really didn't feel like talking, looking or even being around anyone right now. He wanted to be alone. Stefan kept rambling on; Damon let him talk, staying quiet, letting his mind drift back to the past as he took swigs from the whiskey bottle.
"Well, Damon did you ever take into consideration, maybe she isn't ready for that kind of commitment, even though both of you were dating for two years, give her time …and quit drinking all my alcohol." The bottle of whiskey was snatched away from Damon, whose blue eyes were filled with anger, sorrow, and loneliness. "I drown my sorrows in a bottle Stef…It's how I deal, everyone doesn't write their pain away in a fucking diary." Stefan stands and flips his brother the middle finger "Fuck you, Damon…drink all you want, it doesn't make anything better." Stefan walks away, leaving Damon alone.
Because I'm broken when I'm open
And I don't feel like I am strong enough
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away
You've gone away, you don't feel me here anymore
"What's wrong with him?" Caroline stood in the Salvatore's kitchen leaning on the counter, eyeing a worried Stefan. "I don't know, that's why I called you…I figured you could help." "How long has he been like that?" Stefan was pacing back and forth, running his hand thru his hair, before looking at Caroline. "Months…he won't talk to me, he leaves…sometimes and when he comes back he just sits on the couch, mumbling shit to himself and staring at pictures of Bonnie…I get the feeling that he's finally fucking lost it, Caroline." The Barbie vamp sits on top of the counter, swinging her hanging legs. "He could be suffering from depression?" Stefan blew out a long stream of air "Or Bonnie Bennett withdrawal…speaking of Bonnie, how is she?" "She's fine…she said New York's great…I was just on my way there, but I stopped here cause you called me." Stefan nods his head and bangs his hand on the counter next to Caroline, making her jump.
"Stefan!" "Sorry, a brilliant ass idea just popped into my head…" He taps Caroline's leg, before exiting the kitchen and walking into the living room. "So, how long are we staying in New York?" Caroline quickly jumped off the counter and followed Stefan, into the dark living room. "What?" Her face was laced with confusion, but it abruptly changed as she realized what he was doing. "Well, I need to know how long we're staying at Bonnie's, so I can pack a bag." "Umm, maybe pack a week's worth of clothes, and take your time cause I need to call Bonnie a get directions." Stefan ascends up the stairs to his room leaving his brother and Caroline in the living room. Damon doesn't move a muscle, until Caroline draws the curtains back, letting the light illuminate the room. He quickly covers his eyes shielding them from the harsh daylight. "I don't know how you sit in a dark room….damn you look horrible."
She didn't notice how bad Damon looked until now; the light streaming in made the dark circles around his red eyes prominent, as well as his abnormally greyish pale skin. God, he really is taking this hard. She tore her eyes away from him and dialed her friends' number into her phone. "Hey Bon…" Instantly Damon's vampire hearing kicked in, picking up Bonnie; the sweet sound of her voice hitting his ears made his undead heart leap. Damon listened closely, picking up a male voice on Bonnie's end of the phone. He didn't pay it any mind; it could just be one of her cousin's, right?
She wouldn't move on that quickly….Would she? Stefan walked back into the room with a bag in hand. "You ready?" "Duh, let's go…" Damon watches as Caroline and his brother walk out the door. Stefan pokes his head thru the door, peering back at his seemingly angry older brother. "Oh yeah, Damon did you want to come?" Fine time to ask asshole, when you're half way out the door. "No. I could use a couple of days alone." Unlike all the other the other countless times his brother had begged him to leave the house; this time Stefan just left.
Caroline hit the car brakes, hard as profane language flew out her mouth. "Jesus, Caroline calm down please." I shouldn't have let her drive. He thought to himself as he rubbed his temples, Caroline's screaming and ranting was starting to give him a headache. "Don't act like you didn't just see what that bitch just did, she cut me off and then flipped me the bird out her window." Caroline was a raging bull, when I came to driving; Stefan found that out the hard way. "We just have a couple of hours left until we get to Bonnie's house, just relax." She bangs her hands on the steering wheel. "I am relaxed!" Stefan raises his hands in defense as he mumbles under his breath. "Ok…angry ass Barbie doll." Caroline's head snapped in his direction; her blue eyes filled with fire. "What did you say?" He leaned his seat back and pulled his shades down over his eyes. "Nothing…I'm just taking a nap, wake me when we get there."
A slamming car door woke a sleeping Stefan; he ignored it Caroline just probably stopped for gas. He laid his head back on the window, only to get it pulled out from under him. "Get up, we're here." Stefan gets out the car rubbing the sleep out his eyes, while Caroline got the bags out the car. "So, what part of New York is this?" She shoved a bag into his chest, and proceeded walking to the building. Stefan followed her. "This is the upper east side of Manhattan…" "Carebear, Stefan!" Caroline turns around to the sound her nickname being called; she dropped her bags and ran to hug Bonnie. Both were squealing like little girls. "Ah...you streaked your hair!" Bonnie pulled away from the hug, whipping her hair around. "You like?" "Love the dark blue…so this is your building?" Bonnie nods her head and motions for them to follow her; she briefly stops to hug a smiling Stefan.
They enter the building, passing the two arguing security guards on duty. "Good afternoon Ms. Bennett." The old man waves and Bonnie returns the gesture. "Good afternoon Henry." The other guard was younger maybe around 18 years old, with black hair and hazel eyes. "Damn, Bonnie. Seriously, if you'd give me a chance I'd fuck—" Henry's hand hits the back of the young man's head, swift and hard. "Josh! You address all residents formally…God, you're lucky your mother's my sister…if it wasn't for me I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have this job…" The two guards were still arguing as the trio reached the elevator. Bonnie pushed the 48th floor button. Stefan was trying to contain his laughter; he was still listening to the two security guards arguing in the lobby. "They're cussing like sailors down there…It's fucking hilarious…" The elevator doors open on the 48th floor. Bonnie fiddles for her keys as they walk down the hall to her apartment.
"Oh Bonnie…" Bonnie turns her head to the direction of the voice; she forced a smile onto her lips. Shit, here comes the old bat from hell. "Hi. Mrs. Chandler." She opened the door to her apartment, to let her friends in. Stefan and Caroline step past her; she heard a faint squeal as she turned to toward Mrs. Chandler. "Child. I'm glad I caught you…your dog has been a bit of a disturbance lately…the barking and the whining it—" "I'm sorry about the dogs Mrs., Chandler, I'm just taking care of them until my friend gets back in town." Bonnie hurried into her apartment, shutting the door fast; she wanted to avoid any further complaints from her annoying neighbor. "Bonnie this view is amazing..." Caroline stood in front of the wall of windows, overlooking the city. "Thanks Care."
Bonnie flopped down on her couch, and slipped off her shoes. Stefan found the small mirror attached to the wall; he was fixing his hair. "Stefan what are you doing?" "Fixing my hero hair, you never know…a lucky lady might need saving." He sat down in a chair across from Bonnie, still touching his hair. "I look good, right?" Caroline quickly walked over and rubbed her hand in Stefan's hair. "Caroline, damn it….you messed up my work of art!" The blonde vampire plopped down next to Bonnie in a fit of laughter; Stefan was freaking out. "Bon where's your bathroom?" Bonnie held back a laugh, as she watched Stefan pace back and forth. "Down the hall, last door on the right." He grabbed his bag and proceeded to the bathroom as Caroline called after him, through gasps of air. "Hey, Stef do you need any hair gel!?" Stefan screamed down the hall, clearly angry that Caroline messed up his hair. "No, I have my own!"
Bonnie had fallen asleep on her sofa, Caroline in a chair and Stefan on the floor. The last couple of days had been exhausting; they went see a Broadway show, visit the Museum of Modern Art and crashed someone's masquerade party in the Hamptons. Caroline had woken up first, she heard music coming from outside, so she walked onto the balcony. Below her stood a massive group of people, who looked like ants, blocking the street singing. Caroline ran back into the living room where Stefan and Bonnie were still sleeping. "Stefan, get up!" A hard kick to the ribs jolted Stefan out of sleep. He stood up groggily as Caroline dragged him out to the balcony. "Was this part of your plan!?" He rubbed his eyes as he looked down at the street. Thank God for his keen vampire sight or he wouldn't have seen it.
That blue fucking Camaro. It wasn't him. Stefan looked at Caroline, then back at the street. Oh shit, it was Damon. "You had something to do with this!?" He looked at a smiling Caroline "No…I thought he was still home crying over you-know-who!" "What's with all the screaming and loud ass music?" Both of them turn around slowly, facing Bonnie, with smiles on their faces. "Why are you two smiling like that?...Stop it, it's fucking creepy." Caroline and Stefan moved so fast, Bonnie couldn't see straight. When they got into the elevator; Caroline eagerly hit the lobby button. "What the hell—" "Just wait.." As soon as the elevator opened, Bonnie was being dragged across the lobby and outside through the crowd of people. The music got louder as they got closer.
All day long, wearing a mask of false bravado
Tryin' to keep up a smile that hides the tears
But as the sun goes down, I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to God that you were here
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong and I just can't live without you
That's when she saw him on top of his blue Camaro singing his undead heart out. So this is why Caroline and Stefan were all smiles. Bonnie's eyes met Damon's; immediately she smiled. He got down off the car, still singing.
Now that I put it all together
Give me the chance to make you see
Have you used up all the love in your heart?
Nothing left for me, is there nothing left for me?
If it was even possible Bonnie's smile would've gotten wider, with every step he took. He stood in front of her, looking into her eyes, lovingly. Their eyes said it all; they were destined to be with each other. No matter how they try to forget it or how far they try to distance themselves away from each hand brushed her cheek softly. She wanted to say something, but it was quickly forgotten as Damon kissed her lips. She melted when Damon's lips touched hers.
Baby come back, any kind of fool could see
There was something in everything about you
Baby come back, you can blame it all on me
(Listen, baby)
I was wrong and I just can't live without you
I was wrong and I just can't live
Caroline was hopping happily like a bunny on crack as Stefan just smiled a pumped his fist into the air. "Bamon's back bitches!"
