I realize that some of you may have needed a trashcan after reading about Jace's desk sex, and I'm sorry I didn't warn you guys earlier. So from now on, I'll give a little warning.
And I know everything's going a little slow right now with Clary and Jace, but I have the whole plot planned out, and I need development of the characters, so stick with me please.
Also, thanks for all your awesome reviews! (:
Disclaimer: I forgot to do one last chapter. The plot's all mine. Cassandra Clare…why can't I own Jace? T_T
Stay away from her, Jace. If you break her heart, I'll break you.
Since when had Alec become that protective? It wasn't like Jace hadn't gone out with other redheads before. He didn't even see anything really special in this particular redhead.
Excluding her sexy feistiness, that is.
Smacking himself, Jace exited the elevator, gave the receptionist a wink, and sauntered toward his and Clary's office. Who was he kidding – Clary was the one who caused him to drive around in Alec's boring car, who caused him to give up half of his salary each month to pay for the damage done to her car – when she was the one who was really responsible for the whole accident!
That's why you hate her, Jace, his mind reminded him.
As he approached the closed door, laughter stopped Jace in his tracks. Through the door, he heard feminine laughter – definitely Clary's – and a husky, male counterpart.
So she gets to have desk sex while I don't?
"Bastard," Jace growled, suddenly angry. "He's interfering with our work."
He pushed open the door to find Clary and Simon, facing each other, laughing over some lame cartoon movie. Clary didn't even pay any attention to Jace.
Everyone pays attention to me.
"That's my seat, rat boy," he said in a snarky tone.
Clary finally spared him a glance, and then returned to ignoring him, focusing all her attention on the naked donkey that was kicking a naked pussy's butt in the movie.
Simon – was that his name? – glanced up at Jace. "Sorry, man." Jace wanted to knock the nerdy glasses from his face.
"One sec, Jace," Clary said dismissively. "It's almost done."
Jace loomed threateningly over Simon, and raised his fist. "Get out, rat boy. And don't come back."
"Okay! I'm going!" Simon pushed out of Jace's chair, and backed off, trying to glare at Jace, but not succeeding. He was too scared.
Jace settled down in his seat, feeling smug.
"I hate you." Clary's arms were crossed, and she was wearing the fiercest scowl he'd ever seen. It was even worse than his old friend, Isabelle's.
"I think we've already established that, haven't we?" Jace replied.
"I can't believe you just threatened Simon like that! He's not only my PA, but my best friend!"
Not good, Jace groaned inwardly. Clary was really worked up, her face red and her green eyes bright with anger.
"He was distracting you from your work. If you've forgotten, we have Demon Spray."
Clary's mouth twisted into a leering sneer. "Oh, so you're allowed to have fun, but not me? Then maybe your PA shouldn't come in too, because she'll distract you."
"Kaelie doesn't give me any fun." Jace surprised himself by telling the truth. Honestly, he didn't really like Kaelie. She was too whiny and she tried too hard to get his attention. Frankly, she had no personality. He only kept her around for a good romp.
"Oh sure," Clary scoffed. "Speaking of Demon Spray, you might want to get a head start reviewing the info about Demon Spray. We have our first client on Thursday."
"What?" Jace almost toppled over. "Thursday? Are you insane? That's only…two days away! I can't learn all this shit in two days."
In that second, he hated Clary more than ever. "Well, that's too bad," she sneered infuriatingly. "Not my problem. Maybe if you hadn't been too distracted with your desk sex, I would have warned you earlier."
God, he really needed to watch his words around her. All of them would come to bite him later. She was already pissing him off by the way she gave "distracting" a nasty twist with her tongue.
Jace grinned suddenly as an idea formed in his head and laughed as he saw Clary falter at his sudden smile. He knew she would hate his idea.
"Then I guess the only way to solve this problem," he said, "is for us to get together to study together. I'll drop by your house sometime tonight."
He smirked as her face dropped into horror. "What? No! I'm sorry, but I'm actually busy that day. In fact, I think I have a doctor's appointment at that time." Clary smiled, but not enough to show teeth. "Too bad."
Jace pretended to be sad. "We'll see about that."
…
"What do you think of my idea?" the woman asked.
"Do you think it'll work?" Her partner-in-crime wondered. "It'll be hard to accomplish, and it might not work."
"It's worth a try," she answered with an air of superiority. "If it does work, it'll crush them to pieces."

Clary threw the packet of instructions onto the floor. "Jocelyn is insane," she mumbled. "I can't believe she scheduled a client for tomorrow." Demon Spray was driving her crazy.
Slowly, she trudged to the refrigerator and opened a box of Hot Pockets. After microwaving one, Clary curled onto the couch with the instructions for Demon Spray once more, munching on her dinner.
The following are not considered defects:
Broken or fragmented disk caused by contact with the owner.
Scratches on the disk caused by careless handling.

Ne –
"Ding dong!"
Clary opened the door, leaning against the handle. "Izzy," she said, annoyed. "I told you I was busy."
"Sorry," a deep voice said. "I'm not Izzy."
Clary launched off the door, straightening. "Jace? What are you doing here?"
"Our study date." Jace looked down at the pajamas she was wearing, and the corners of his mouth tilted up. Clary felt like slapping him.
"We never had any date!" Clary shrilled. Jace hadn't shown up at her house yesterday like he'd threatened too, so Clary had thought he was bluffing.
Apparently not.
He pushed his way in, despite Clary's protests. "Is that Hot Pocket I see?" Jace strode over to the couch, grabbed the remainder of her dinner, and dropped it in his mouth.
"That was my dinner, you jerk!"
He shrugged, settling down into the couch and propping his feet onto the coffee table in front of it. "I'm hungry. Got anymore?"
"How'd you know where I live?" Clary narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"I asked Luke."
Clary slapped her hand to her forehead. Luke and matchmaking made a terrible pair.
Jace laughed. "I can't believe you actually did a facepalm," he snickered.
"That's so classic."
"I'm not going to help you on Demon Spray."
"You should." Jace picked up her packet from the ground. "Crumpled pages, ripped corners," he mused, examining it. "Looks like you've hit some trouble too." He grinned. "Besides, since you were distracted with your little movie porn, I think we're even."
"Little movie porn? That was Shrek!"
Jace looked confused. "Shrek?"
Clary rolled her eyes. Seriously, who doesn't know Shrek?
"The green ogre? With the ugly face, big nose?"
Jace shook his head. "Never heard of it. Anyway, back to Demon Spray. What are not considered defects?" He read off the sheet.
"Broken or fragmented disk caused by contact with owner," Clary started to answer.
Waaait a second. He just got me to agree to this "date."
"Nice try Jace, but get out of my house."
Jace frowned, clucking his tongue. "Is this how you treat clients? Because I shudder to think of what you'd do if they didn't buy your product."
"Jace."
"Here I am," he continued, ignoring her, "trying to be a friendly coworker, but what I get in return is you biting my butt."
Clary choked. "Me what?"
Jace grinned, and it was an ugly grin.
Yeah, right. You know you think he's hot.
"Come here," he beckoned, crooking his finger.
Before she could stop herself, Clary's feet were dragging her to Jace. She sat down next to his lazy from. "What." She hated the loose, jittering feeling she got every time she was close to him.
Jace raised a perfectly arched eyebrow. "You actually came."
"Yes. I'm practicing being civil for tomorrow." Clary smirked. "After all, we can't stand on opposite sides of the room and shout at our client."
"True."
"But I still hate you. Because of you, I get weird stares every time I drive around in my beat up car."
"My car is wrecked. I have to inconveniently ask Alec for a ride everywhere. And I have to pay you every month. I'd be happy if I were you."
Immediately, Clary's temper rose. "Well if you were only looking at where you were going – "
"You're impossible. We already went over this. If you had looked, we'd both be fine."
"I'm impossible? You're insufferable!"
"See?" Jace gestured to Clary. "I rest my case."
Clary's eyes snapped and she laid her hands on Jace's chest, ready to push him off the couch when her front door suddenly slammed open.
"Clary, I – Clary? What the hell are you – Jace?"
Beneath her, Jace froze. "Shit," he muttered under his breath.
"Is this what you meant when you said busy?" The voice shrilled.
Slowly, Clary turned around. "Hi Izzy," she said weakly.
I'd love it if you could drop a review. My dad killed me for going on fanfiction too much and I had to sneak to get this posted for ya.
