Once class was over Bella turned to Edward. "So what's going on between Harry and Jasper," Bella asked as they gathered their things and headed for the door?
"Well as far as we can tell Harry might be Jasper mate," Edward explained quietly.
"But I thought he and Alice where mates? Or does this mean that he has more than on? It never occurred to me that, that was a possibility. So were they wrong or…" Bella comment trailed off as she waited for Edward to fill in the blank.
"Well Alice and Jasper are definitely mates. None of us have any doubt about that. We think that Jasper just might have two. And trust me none of us thought that it could happen either," Edward said.
"So what does that mean for him and Alice? Are they going to be ok? I would hate for this to tear them apart or something. They are so good together," Bella's concern for her friend clear in her voice.
"They should be," Edward said confidently. "Like I said we know for a fact that Alice is Jasper's mate. And for all we know Harry could be her mate too. She's going to try and figure out this week if she feels anything toward him like Jasper does. If it turns out that he isn't, I know they will work something out. Alice would do anything to make Jasper happy and Jasper would do the same for Alice."
"Well lunch should be interesting," Bella said.
"Definitely," Edward agreed. "Besides," Edward thought, "what could go wrong?"
They all arrived home at the same time. Jasper was first out to the car and immediately took off into the woods. Alice watched him go and called out to Esme that she was going to go keep him company and that they would be back later.
"What happened? Why is Jasper upset?" Esme asked her children when saw her children leave.
"Our lunch plans with Harry didn't turn out well," Emmett replied as he sat down on the couch.
"Oh no. What happened," she asked?
"It seems that Harry is extremely squeamish when it comes to the site of blood. He looked a couple of seconds away from throwing up." Edward explained.
"Blood? Why was there blood at lunch? Were all of you ok?" Esme knows they have good control they wouldn't be allowed to go to the school if they didn't but she still worried.
"Apparently there was a screw or a nail sticking out from the bottom of the table. While we were eating lunch Bella moved her hand from under the table and it cut her. As soon as she brought it into sight Harry the blood seemed to rush from Harry's face and he put his hand over his mouth. Angela helped him up from the table and basically ran from the room," Edward said.
"When I saw Angela later," Emmett said "I asked her how Harry was and about what happened. She told me that Harry hates the sight of blood because of how sick it makes him and that he has since he was a child. So understandably Jasper's upset because of the whole being a vampire and needing blood to live."
"And we were all fine," Rosalie reassured Esme since neither of the boys was going to. "I couldn't even smell the blood with Harry there. His scent does a really good job of blocking out other things."
"Jasper please calm down. I'm sure it's not as bad as you think it is," Alice said as she followed her husband. "Sure he doesn't like blood but that's ok."
"How is that ok? He hates one of the most important things in our lives."
"Come on Jasper I'm sure at some point in all of our history there has been people that hate blood that have become vampires."
"You don't get it Alice, I could feel it."
"Feel what?" she asked stepping up beside him.
"I could feel how disgusted by it he was. I have never felt this so strongly from anyone before. He would probably rather claw his eyes out than see more blood. Not to mention we saw what looking at it does to him. Did you see how pale he got? He practically ran from the room to go throw up." Jasper had begun to pace around the area running his hand through his hair.
"I know," she said a sad look in her eyes, "But there is nothing we can really do about that right now. I can't imagine what you're going through right now. I'm sure it's hard but it will get better. We will figure this out. I can promise you that."
They were both quite for a few moments and Jasper stood still again before Jasper spoke. "You know I'm not upset or anything, right?"
"What?" Alice said caught off guard by Jasper breaking the silence.
"I can feel how worried you are," he said as he stepped closer pulling her into his arms. "Its 100 percent ok if he isn't your mate. I am not now nor will I ever be angry at you for something that is out of your control. While I wish I wasn't going through this alone there is nothing that either of us could do about the situation. "
"Now you listen to me Jasper Hale," Alice said poking him in the chest, "just because he isn't my mate doesn't mean that you have to go through this alone. I will be with you every step of the way. And we have our family to support us. Like I told you when we first meet we never have to be alone again."
Jasper pulled her into a soft kiss. "I don't know what I would do without you," he said smiling.
