A/N: Okay, so basically, rereading the previous chapters; it is pretty rubbish. So, now I have changed to 3rd person, because i take off my hat to anyone who can make 1st sound like anything but wrote by a child. Anyway, I want to go back and rewrite the old chapters, so if I'm not an awfully lazy person you can look forward to that. Unfortunately I am an awfully lazy person, and it took me long enough to post this so I will definitely try when I finish (If I ever finish..)

The sound of a television fills the hallway as the sleep-deprived boy makes his way to him... friend's room, the dark already have settled in at 7 pm, causing long, creepy shadows to be projected on the walls.

Knock, knock, knock

After roughly 10 minutes of Karkat waiting outside the door the sound of a latch being slowly unlocked sounds, and then after another 10 minutes of fiddling on the inside of the door it swings wide open as Karkat takes in just what he is looking at. John. Not just John, John in a blue rabbit onesie. Karkat almost leaves John right there and then.

"Karkat!" John says happily.

"How does Dave not give you unbearable shit about that – Whatever that is?" Karkat grumbles walking quickly into the room looking around the small dorm room, a small TV shinning with the menu for Con Air, curtains closed and a bowl of what looks like generic crisps.

John laughs a light-hearted, airily laugh. "Oh he has, but I guess I just don't care about it." He says easily closing the door and plopping himself on one of two piles of pillows that have been laid out slightly too close to the TV. John sharply looked up at Karkat with inviting eyes that glowed with child-like mischief.

Karkat feels a slight sickly feeling in his stomach strike that he has felt for the past couple of hours that he normally only got when he was doing something that particularly put him in an uneasy place and it was normally a sign of his nervous, although why it was spring now was beyond him. He quickly settled himself on the pillows besides John, quickly moving it back ever slightly from the TV. Making a quick panic look pass over John's face so quick Karkat was pretty sure he imagined it just to get a change from the normal grin.

As the night progressed the two boys got much more comfortable in each other's company and even bonded over movies they liked and bitching about Dave and suddenly just like that Karkat wasn't too sure he didn't like this boy, in fact he was starting to fear he might start having to worry about Vriska. Thinking about her he went you on a limb and asked;

"So um, you are friends with Vriska?"

John gave him a startled look for a moment, almost worried. "Yeah, you could say that, she is cool. Dave told me not many people like her, but I mean, I kinda get why. But when you get past that she is actually really nice. I think she was pretty messed up after the thing with Tavros..." John leaves the end to trail off as is just realising he probably should not be sharing this information about so freely.

To be honest, though, Karkat would have been worried about her after the thing with Tavros anyway if they were friends, and he didn't need telling it messed her up, even more than she already was, anyway. But, she was pretty horrible to Tavros in the first place anyway and god knows he was the only person who had ever been nice to her. That said, there was a slight jealous Karkat felt towards the girl as her last good friendship turned into more and they temporarily went out.

As soon as this thought struck Karkat he shook this head quickly, clearing his mind. He did not like John, at least not like that. The sudden movement made John give him a strange look as he relaxed back down into the movie, leaning slightly towards Karkat subconsciously making his face flush for a second in the darkness of John's room.

Part way into the third movie John looked up at Karkat, opening his mouth to break the silence that has lasted far too long.

"Karkat... Can I ask you a question?" He said uncharacteristically shy

"Yeah?" Karkat answered absently.

"Are you a homosexual?" John asked innocently enough like it was something you asked your friends regularly.

"What?" Karkat answered sharply, sitting up quickly. "Of course not, why the fuck are you even asking?!" He shouted and a blush coming to his cheeks and he silently thanked the darkness.

John looked down quickly so Karkat couldn't read his reaction and after a moment answered "Yeah, course, sorry..." cough " me too..." There was a moment of silence that seemed to last a lifetime for Karkat as the film continued despite the lack of any attention. Then John finally spoke looking up quickly with another bright smile and a yawn. "You know it's getting late, you should probably go."

"What?" Was all Karkat could think to say, but not getting an answer from John, who was studying the foot of his onsie, Karkat eventually stood slowly and walked across the room to the door. "Okay, I'll see you later then, I guess..." he said slowly opening the door, silently begging John to say something, maybe, just maybe, he hadn't said the right then. "SORRY..." he said finally, almost as a question.

"Okay, I'll see you later Karkat." John said at least quietly, all of his normal enthusiasm drained out of his voice. He was still studying his the foot of his onsie.

I have most definitely said the wrong thing, what; is he asking because he – no, no, no, don't be ridiculous, Karkat's thoughts raced as he still stood in the doorway, but maybe, I don't know, I don't even know if I really don't like him, because I'm not 100%... and that is scary, Karkat admitted to himself at long last, and I don't know how to deal with this, I thought I was just drawn to him, you know as you are from time to time, and I really don't know what I'm thinking. Even if I did tell myself what I think, John wouldn't like me back, I bet he doesn't even like boys, I want to know if I have a chance but I couldn't, not really, and if he did; he would like boys like Dave, or Sollux. Cool, interesting boy, not stupid boys like me who can't even get to sleep when they're tired.

"And John?" He said slowly and quietly.

"Um?" John hardly spoke; probably wishing Karkat would just leave already.

Karkat took a deep breath, not even sure what he wanted to say, just sure of the point, or even just implication, because the truth is he really doesn't know that he likes John like that, because it is so out there, but he doesn't want to close that door. And now that door is closed and locked with chains and enough padlocks to run a prison "I'm not sure, I thought not but..." With that Karkat allowed it to trail off then quickly ran though the door, making sure to leave it slightly ajar.

John quickly looked up, in the now empty room, unsure of what he had just heard. "What are you doing to me?" He whispered, barely even that before a silent tear ran down his check.
