A/N: I don't know if I will continue this, but seeing as it's been a while since I uploaded anything on (like, years) I thought I'd get some feedback and see what the reviews say.

Beast Boy groaned, crossing out yet another stupid name in his notebook. She just didn't feel like a Madalynn, or a Joanne, or an Erika. He had pages of girls' names scribbled out already, whether it was because he knew someone with that name and they were a jerk, or because it simply didn't suit her. He was beginning to wish that he hadn't been so adamant about it being him who named her. Then, at least, he could take suggestions.

He sat back in his chair, pushing the notebook away with a sigh. This wasn't going to get done this way. He needed a new approach.

He pushed his seat back, gracefully landing on cat paws as he shifted, and began pacing. Usually he does his best thinking as a cat. He had already tried names that had to do with her appearance, but it seemed too superficial. And names referring to her android...ness...would be too dehumanizing. At least Cyborg was just a codename, he still had the name Victor and all.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, and he shifted casually back and walked over.

"What's up?" Beast Boy said, upon seeing Cyborg at his door. "What's with that big grin?"

Cyborg indeed had a huge smile on his face, a little too wide and giddy, like a five-year-old in a candy shop. "Oh man, B, you have got to see what this girl can do!"

The first thing that crossed Beast Boy's mind as he entered the training room was 'Crap, Control Freak is here again.'

However, it didn't take him long to notice that the floating electronics were, in fact, their new friend's doing. She was floating into middle of the room, her hair defying gravity and her feet pointed gracefully like a dancer's. Glowing data rushed quicker than he could read in front of her glowing amethyst eyes, her hands moving inhumanly fast to separate pieces of data into floating files. The turrets were coming out of the walls only to be twisted and shut down on themselves, as if remotely hacked. The fighter droids would scuttle quickly towards her, then slowly, and then not at all.

"Complete," She said, her eyes returning to normal. The electronics that were floating laid quietly back down, the data in the air faded away, and she touched back gently to the floor. "I have analyzed all your tower's defenses and protocols, and could disable any wired program. Oh, except for this."

She picked the only remaining glowing file out, opening it into a roomful of data that made Beast Boy's head spin.

"Yeah, that'd be the tower core," Cyborg said, laying a hand on her shoulder. "I'm amazed you made it that far, but the core is my baby and the best I can do. It's tied to a lot of things that ain't electronic, too."

"An unhackable system core," she said, her eyes shining. "I've never seen anything like that. Nothing has ever been able to beat me. I feel...strange, like my nervous system is going to burst."

"That's called excitement, or thrill," Robin said, getting up from his seat around the edge of the room. "That was impressive. You dismantled all of our defense systems and practically the whole tower in a matter of seconds! We're sure glad you're on our side."

"Woah, okay, wait, I'm so lost," Beast Boy interjected. "Can anyone explain what just happened in, like, movie references or something?"

The girl seemed thoughtful, and more data appeared to float near her. She nodded thoughtfully at it, and then it disappeared.

"In 2005 there was a movie called Sky High," she said, turning back to face Beast Boy. "The main villain was a girl who could control electronics using electromagnetic waves, known commonly as a Technopath. This is approximately what my power is as well, except mine are more inclusive: I can also remotely hack any type of Electromagnetic wave and control electricity at my fingertips."

As if to demonstrate, she held her hands together and then drew them a foot apart, showing a line of blue electricity. The electricity seemed almost docile, like a living creature slumbering. After a second, she collapsed it suddenly, breathing heavily.

"Forgive me," she gasped, and crumpled to the floor.

"But, she"ll be okay?" Beast Boy said, hovering around the stasis tube where their new friend floated once again. They had moved it into the living room for now until they could ask if she wanted a bedroom.

"Yeah, she seems to have just overexerted herself a bit by showing off her powers," Cyborg said, punching in the code written on a piece of paper in his hand. The computer's voice rang out: 'Subject sleeping on natural mode'

"It's my fault," Robin sighed. "I got so excited when she said she had powers, and I made her show us before she was prepared and properly rested."

"No, Robin, she wanted to do the showing off," Starfire said, a hand laying gingerly on Robin's shoulder. "She was excited, too."

Beast Boy looked up at the girl, floating gently in her stasis chamber. She looked so empty and robotic in there, and it made him uncomfortable. She wasn't moving, or even sleeping like a normal person. He supposed she technically wasn't one, but she wasn't any less of one than any of them were. It just seemed wrong to stick her in there like some kind of...experiment.

"DUDE!" He shouted suddenly, smacking his forehead. "I just came up with, like, the perfect name for her!"

"Enlighten us," Raven said, barely taking her eyes off her book.

"Yeah, BB, spit it out already," said Cyborg.

"Okay okay okay, listen up…"he paused for dramatic effect…

"Tesla!" he said finally, beaming up at his teammates with a huge toothy grin.

"That is a wonderful name!" Starfire enthused, gripping Beast Boy's hands. "Our new friend will be just thrilled to receive it!"

"I know, right? It's perfect!" Beast Boy looked back over at the others expectantly. Robin, Raven and Cyborg just looked at each other with surprised glances. "What? What?! It's perfect, dudes, what's your problem?"

"No problem, BB," Cyborg said.

"Yeah, no, it's a perfect name," Robin added. "It's just that, uh…"

"We had no idea you knew who Tesla was," Raven said, closing her book. "Color us impressed, I suppose."

"What? What, do you all think I'm some idiot or something? Of course I know who Tesla was, my parents were scientists, duh. At least I know that much!"

She awoke in her chamber again, to the sound of talking outside the glass. Beast Boy was there again, talking animatedly. It was becoming a trend for her to wake up to the shifter like this. The others were there, listening to Beast Boy say something about a...name?

Wait, a name for her? She paid close attention as he paused, listening for the words that would come next. What kind of name could she have? What did he pick for her? He seemed to pause for an achingly long time when…

"Tesla!" Tesla, Tesla Tesla….His voice rang in her ears with the name. No, with her name. She felt her smile grow wide, and she was…

She tapped on the glass, making him turn around. She had to make sure it was for her. There is no sound made inside the chamber, so instead she mouthed it back to him, pointing at herself. She needed him to say yes, that it was for her, before she got too…

"Yes, yes!" Beast Boy said, scrambling over to the tube. "Yeah! You're Tesla! That is, if you like it, of course, heh." He shrank away from the tube a little, seemingly embarassed by his puppy-like demeanor.

It was hers. Her name. Her new...friends, they picked it for her. She quickly accessed opening procedures and stepped down from the tube, and with cords still attached she practically flew towards the shifter.

"Tes...la…" she said, reaching out and taking his hands. "Tesla...me…"

"Y-yeah," Beast Boy said, squeezing her hands in return. "I told you I'd pick out a name, didn't I? Like I said, we can't keep calling you 'miss purple-eyes' or something."

She could feel something hot and wet on her cheeks, her brain called them 'tears'. She pulled one hand away to wipe them off.

"I-I don't understand," she stuttered. "I am so happy...why do I have tears?"

"Those are happy tears," Beast Boy said, pulling her hand back. "Those happen sometimes."

"It just means you're so happy to have your friends that you can't control your emotions," Robin said, placing a hand on her shoulder. The others agreed, even Raven, who seemed to be disinterested in the moment. "It happen to us all. It's what makes you alive."

Alive, She thought. I am alive.

I am Tesla, and I am alive.

A/N: I really hope anyone out there enjoyed this, remember there is like five years (IRL, not in the story) between the first two chapters and this one. My writing style has changed, and I don't necessarily think for the better. Eh.

Please review so I can get some feedback on writing and whether this story is worth salvaging.
