It had been three days since that terrible accident…

Patrick was in and out twisting and turning, eyes screwed shut and moaning in pain. His body was cold and wet, soaked with blood dirt and rain. Yet his mind wondered to Teresa. He wondered and hoped she was safe.

His mind raced with awful things. He tried and failed to get rid of them. Patrick hoped and prayed she was safe as he slipped into unconsciousness.

Teresa was wondering around in circles it seemed. She sang and flung her arms around unaware of the dangers of the storm. In complete darkness she wondered further in the woods. Teresa smiled as she came across a little cabin, and walked towards it.

Patrick was in deep pain, trying but failing to stay awake. The pain was taking over, he was once again thrown back in darkness.

Teresa walked up to the door and knocked, she was welcomed by a warm older lady who was quite startled to this young ladies appearance.

"Hello there sweetheart, are you lost? Your hurt… come in and I'll get you all cleaned up and see what happened. Does that sound good?"

Teresa nodded slowly and smiled at the kind woman as she gently walked her inside.

"My name is Ruth sweetheart. May I ask what yours is dear?"

"Um…I…uh…don't know."

Teresa ran her hand over her temple and winced at the pain. "That's funny…I didn't feel that before."

"You poor thing, its okay. I am a retired nurse so I know all about fixing boo boos."

The kind lady smiled at Teresa. She felt so warm and safe here with her. She reminded Teresa of her mother.

The door suddenly opened rather hard, slamming against the wall, startling Teresa. Miss Ruth noticed she jumped at the sound and sight of the man standing there.

"Sweetheart, this is my husband Henry, he went out to attempt to get us some wood to dry out in this mess."

"Oh" Teresa said, still shaking slightly.

"Nice to meet you dear, I didn't mean to scare you, the wind whipped the door out of my hands. I brought some wood up to keep us warm and so we see around a bit better."

Teresa smiled at him as she walked over to the window in the living room. She seemed so lost as she watched the nasty weather.

"Yes, me too Henry. It will help with my oil lamps and candles." She said while they watched Teresa.

"Sweetheart, was there anyone else with you? Surely you couldn't have been by yourself in this mess."

Teresa simply stated a "no" as she stared out the window.

The couple took in her appearance. She was bloody bruised up soaking wet and covered in dirt.

"What happened to that poor girl?" Asked Henry to his wife.

"I don't know, but whatever it was, it wasn't good." The couple agreed in unison.

"Sweetheart, what do think of a nice hot bubble bath? I'll check you over to see what all's going on, and try to fix it. We'll get some nice hot vege soup in you and get you warm. How does that sound?"

Teresa stood there, just staring. It felt like something was pulling at her. She shook her head and winced at the pain that followed.

"That sounds very nice, thank you both so much for your kindness."

"Your very welcome sweetheart. Now come with me and lets get you all cleaned up."

Teresa smiled as she took in the kind couple. They were in their late fifties early sixties. The little cabin was so cozy and full of warmth of their kindness.

Meanwhile Patrick wasn't alone anymore. He felt a warm hand tenderly stroke his cheek. He smiled at the warmth, the scent, her scent. Patrick smiled he knew that scent, that warmth.

Patrick opened his eyes and turned his head slightly to see his wife setting next to him. He wondered if this meant he was dead…or was he close…

"Angela…your…your here…" That was all he managed to get out before she gently placed her finger on his lips.

"Patrick, please listen to me sweetheart, don't give up…Teresa is safe…fight for her."

"Fight…for…her…she's safe?"

"Yes Patrick. Please don't give up…fight."

With those words, she was gone. Patrick was saddened by how quickly she had left, but more curious by what "fight for her" meant. His head spun as he dozed in and out. He wondered where Teresa was, beings he now knew she was safe, he wondered if she would find him. As his thoughts took him to Teresa, he smiled and fell back to sleep…

Teresa was being took gentle care of. Miss. Ruth was very careful not to hurt her. She had found her broken shoulder, as well as her wrists, and three broken ribs on her right side, and of course covered in nasty cuts and bruises. As she helped Teresa get undressed she found Teresa's wallet in her jeans. She was so happy to know who she was.

"Well sweetheart, your name is Teresa Lisbon, and you work for the CBI."

Teresa looked like she was trying to remember this…but didn't have much success.

Miss. Ruth gently settled Teresa in the tub. Teresa sighed, it felt and smelt so good, like lavender and vanilla. She slowly laid her head back against the little cushion…she was in heaven right now.

"Lets see Miss. Teresa…can you set up a bit for me sweetie…I want to comb and wash your hair for you."

Teresa nodded and slowly set back up…holding her temple. "Thank you so much for all your kindness, for all your help. I wish I could remember why my heads hurts so much."

Miss. Ruth smiled warmly at her as she gently combed the glass out of her hair on a towel so it wouldn't fall in the tub and cut her more. Then she gently washed her hair. Teresa sighed, it felt so good. Miss. Ruth gently spoke as she rinsed Teresa's hair.

"Well sweetie, you have a concussion, and judging by that nasty bump on your head, you hit something very hard… and with quite a force behind it."

Teresa slowly nodded, trying to figure things out. She was so lost…

"I'm gonna find you something warm you can cuddle in. Does that sound good?"

"Yes, that sounds wonderful thank you so much."

"Your very welcome Teresa."

With that Miss. Ruth had left, and Teresa tried to think straight, trying to make her thoughts make sense. Why on earth was she alone in the woods? How did she hit her head? Why was she bloody and dirty? Where did glass come from? Why was she so broken up? Teresa sighed…

Patrick was once again awake…not by his wife this time…something had scared him, jerking him quite roughly awake. Now he was in more pain than before, and on top of that scared out of his mind.

In the storm another tree had fallen on the SUV, landing right behind him. It had just missed him. Patrick was in a frantic scared state, if it had hit him, it would have killed him. He shook his head slowly, body still shacking in fear and pain.

He slowly leaned his head back against the head rest. He wondered how much longer he had. He hadn't eaten in three days…he was so hungry and thirsty, so weak and tired. His thoughts went back to Teresa… "fight for her"

He cared about her so much…he wanted to be able to see her again, to hug her, to hear her sweet voice…he smiled at the thoughts of her. She had awakened something in him. She had found his heart…she could and did make him feel happiness. It was a strange feeling to be happy…but he felt it with her. He repeated weakly to himself once again "fight for her" as the pain once more took over…

Miss. Ruth reentered the bathroom with some warm cloths for Teresa. She found her lying back with her eyes closed and smiling.

"Well sweetheart, are you enjoying soaking?"

"Yes…it's so relaxing…thank you again so much for everything."

"Oh sweetheart, you're more than welcome. Now these clothes are Henry's, so they are big, but I knew they were snuggly." Miss. Ruth held a light blue flannel shirt, a blue plaid pair of boxers, long hunting socks, and a dark grey and white plaid flannel pajama pants. Teresa and Miss. Ruth smiled at the clothing. They looked like they would swallow her alive…they looked so soft and comfy… Miss. Ruth smiled as she set the items on the vanity, then set back on the floor and began to bathe Teresa.

"Bless your heart, so many bruises and cuts. You don't remember anything? It looks like you might have been in an accident."

Teresa shook her head and said: "No…I can't remember anything…I don't know what happened, but I sure am glad that God led me here with your two."

Miss. Ruth smiled at Teresa, she noticed her cross necklace earlier. "I am thankful He led you here too sweetheart." Miss. Ruth gently kissed Teresa's cheek as she washed her. Teresa smiled at her.

Miss. Ruth washed Teresa all over being very careful not to hurt her, then rinsed her off. She pulled the little stopper out of the tub, and helped her to stand. She then gently eased her out, dried her and got her redressed. Teresa was so comfortable and so warm. Miss. Ruth gently combed her hair for her too and put a pair of her pink slippers on her to add extra cushion for her sore feet. Then they headed out slowly to the living room.

"Well you look much better than you did an hour ago sweetie…how do you feel?" Asked Mr. Henry.

"Much better, thank you so much for everything you've done for me, I really do appreciate it."

"Oh you're than welcome darling. Come set here to the fire place and get warm, I have you some soup…I've also made you some hot tea."

"Oh thank you so much, that sounds so good!"

Miss. Ruth and Mr. Henry both noticed how pale she was… they wondered when was the last time she had eaten.

While Mr. Henry prepared her a little tray, Miss. Ruth helped Teresa get settled a couple feet away on a big soft quilt. She had her close to their coffee table so they could set her food on there. She also wrapped Teresa's wrists with ACE bandages and a sling for her shoulder. Miss. Ruth placed a warm cloth on Teresa's side to try to help with the pain. She wanted to give her some advil, but were Teresa's memory was foggy, she didn't know if she had any allergies.

Around this time Miss. Ruth smiled at her as she was all settled and situated. "There we go, all straight… are you ready to eat?"

Teresa nodded as Mr. Henry reentered the living room and set the little tray on the table. Teresa seemed to stare at the cup and saucer… they seemed to take her attention…they were robins egg blue…she suddenly frowned.

"Are you okay Teresa? Does something look familiar to you?"

"Um…I don't know…that cup and saucer looks familiar to me…I don't know why though."

Miss. Ruth began to gently feed her. "Is that good sweetheart?"

"Oh yes, very much so." Teresa said still staring at the tea cup

"Would you like some tea?"

Teresa nodded slowly…the tea smelled familiar too. As Miss. Ruth held the cup up for her to sip at it Teresa moaned, it tasted so good and also familiar.

"I'm taking it the teas good too huh?" she smiled at Teresa who was somewhere.

"Yes…I uh…" She closed her eyes and tried to connect the scent and taste and color of the tea set together…Miss Ruth watched her, worried…

As Teresa raised her head up she stared at the cup…her eyes filled as she screamed… "PATRICK!"
