A.D. 2303 Neo Europa, Apt. 945, West Avenue.

Silence, the blond haired, green eyed man was seated on the left side of the pale blue couch, and the ebony haired, orange eyed teen was on the right. Both sipping coffee and milk at the same time. The atmosphere around them was tense and unnerving, and awkward-don't forget awkward.

A.D. 2300 Military H.Q. Clinic.

A few days after the meeting Graham was called in and worked on adoption forums and protocol forums and school forums...and insurance forums...and more insurance forums...just paper in general! That is until his shoulders relax after the seemingly last several hundred signatures. It was then that he headed over to quarantine.

Graham Aker, like any other man, examined the nurse that had purple hair that hovered over her shoulders, piercing red eyes that diverted downward when they bumped, and porcelain skin, as she apologized, he saw a doctor who had brunette hair rushing after her. She was lovely and so that gave him the assumption that these two individuals-staring at the man running behind, and the woman- must be a thing.

"Hey! Tina! wait!" announced the man

Or not?

The commotion quickly passed him, which reminded him about the boy in which he should go check on. The white halls lead to an equally white room, the young lieutenant saw the boy; along side him walked in the translator that was supposed to interrogate the teen. Upon first introductions, the translator had a very laid back expression. He stood up as he saw Graham walk in.

"Hello, my name is Gregory Ladd, I'm the translator that they asked to come here to see a patent, but apparently I'm practically useless, because he already has the most basic speech. Albeit with just a little bit of pronunciation issues and an accent; but that's nothing to be afraid of. "

Graham unconsciously analyzed the person before him. Tall, about his own height, just a little shorter. His hair was a little long, longer than Graham prefers, but, hey, the doctor isn't a soldier. Speaking of hair, the coral bangs were a basically blocking his left eye. Discarding his thoughts, Graham accepted the handshake.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Ladd, I heard you can speak twenty-three different languages?"

"Ah, yes I can and am very proud of it, I assumed you're done with the papers? " stated Gregory, and then Graham handed in a manila folder to the man. After a few minutes of looking through the folder the translator smiled and nodded; "Great! I'll just have you sign here for the completion of his guardianship forums as well as a quarantine release request. Just sign here, here, and the next page at the bottom."

Graham did as told and soon, the kid was sitting in his passenger seat; bag slung over his shoulders and onto his lap. Graham can see Soran's grip tightening around the strap, yet his face is still as bank as always. With a resigned sigh, he started the car and was off on his forty-five minute drive to his apartment.

On the way to his apartment they had passed by a few parks and trees lined the sidewalks of the street. Graham glanced at the boy and he had the most priceless face ever; which made Graham's heart fill with excitement. Graham silently chuckled at the young man's surprise at the amount of people walking the streets. He can see the excitement and wonder on the boy's face as he would press himself up against the window pane; looking up at the buildings.

Graham finally had enough and decided to first make a visit to the park with that one hotdog stand. Graham watched the boy get out of the car; making his way onto the lush green overture. Graham was honestly surprised when Soran took off his shoes and stepped on to the freshly cut grass. Graham watched and he couldn't help but feel a sense of-dear he say it…-fatherly affection for the boy. The kid was beset with such joy in the overwhelming change in scenery that all he could do was lay on the ground. Of course Graham couldn't drag him away to the hotdog stand on the rough pavement.

Six dollars and a struggle with a ketchup bottle later, Graham made his way over to the kid with four hotdogs. He stood over the kid and blocked the sun hanging over head. The blond lieutenant handed the boy a hotdog, " You seem like you're enjoying yourself?" and sat himself next to the young Krugian.

Soran just simply sat up and stared at the item. Graham let out a small laugh and then ate his. Soran followed suit. The two just sat there with their shoes off; watching the trees shake with the passing breeze. The bugs fly all around them. Cicadas singing, birds tweeting, and Graham can see the slightest if not the most subtle signs of content from the child's face. With that Graham laughed out loud; he couldn't contain his accomplishment and eagerness to show the kid the world. This earned a scowl from the boy, which made his smile widen even further.

At first their relationship was-in fact-very awkward, but it changed after a week of getting the boy. Yup, he was now an official guardian. The boy was still very much getting used to society. It would still be a month before Soran is enrolled in school. So, in the free time that he has, he shows Soran around the city.

They stayed a whole day at the park once, just talking about mobile suits! Who knew the kid was interested! This changes everything! Why go to public institution when he can go to his alma mater! Wait...that is if he wanted to go of course….Actually maybe it's be better if he didn't go. After all, he's suppose to stay clear from the public as much as possible…..Yea….Maybe he'll let the boy choose his university, but for now, it's secondary education.

A few month into the kid's schooling Graham get a call. With the speed of a jet, Graham rushes over to the school. He bursts into the door of the principal's office. First thing he says is; " I apologize for his behavior, I know he can be really stubborn sometimes, and he doesn't really clean unless you tell him. And you se-"

"Hold your horses Mr. Aker, your son isn't in any kind of trouble. It had come to my attention that our academic courses aren't challenging enough for your son. I'd say, with your permission, we can test him and bump him up a few grades depending on his scores."

Graham was shocked, but mostly relieved. It's been months and the boy hadn't gotten in trouble yet. Graham was prepared to deal with parents of other kids, looking for trouble.

So all Graham can answer was, "Uh, sure, I don't see any fault in that."

After that freight, Soran was bumped up several grades. Eventually graduating from secondary education at the tender age of 16, just a few months after first arriving in Neo-Europa. Graham couldn't be prouder of his little genius. The kid really grew on him over the half of the year, even down to his disappearing act when he was supposed to give his valedictorian speech during graduation. The galls of that kid...

For Soran's graduation gift Graham decided to give him the newest GMX 46-98276 Flag's limited edition Building model. Besides that, Soran was most reserved-well, most of the time. There were very few occurrences where Soran really showed his intellect. And those moments were usually in Graham's home office as he read over reports.

In those moments it seems that all that really excites the boy was talking about mobile suits. So Graham made a decision one day as they were walking home from the grocery store. Graham saw a bunch of kids overlooking a boy with his little game council. They were raucous and he saw Soran stare at the scene before walking forward. Thus gave him the idea of investing in a game console at home, where they can play with each other.

The first game the he brought along with the console was a mobile flight simulator. Graham was super excited to give Soran the game. As soon as he got home, he forgotten that it was already 2 am in the morning, and he saw the kid asleep on the couch surrounded by several piles of Graham's collection of scientific articles. With resignation, the blond draped a fuzzy cover over his little genius…

The first couple of months went well-or could have been worst. It was a week into the summer after the boy's graduation.

Both of them were just sitting on the couch; Graham reading a report, and Soran watching the news. It was a report about a kid's parents who were murdered by their next door neighbor. For some odd reason Graham heard unusual thump that had his heart speeding up.

Lo and behold, Soran was lying on the ground clutching his chest. Graham kneeled down and patted the boy's back. A panic attack?! Uh….uh...Come on Graham you've been trained for this! Get your shit together!

"Hey kid! What's wrong!...Breath! You can't breath in that position! Straighten out your back!...Just-"

Graham struggled to pulled the Krugian out from his ball.

"Ok now, just lean back onto the couch, it's ok, it's fine, you're okay," Graham proceed to guide the boy back but was refused as his hand was slapped away.

Soran cowered to himself again and curled up into a fetal position. Once again losing control of his breathing. Short shallow breaths consumes the silence of the room. Accompanied by soothing shushing and quiet whisperings.

"I-I n-need….wash hands…...I-they're…. Bombs! I-need to hi-hide!"

"Shuuuuus, shuss, it's okay Soran; You're safe. You're okay now.

"B-But….I-"

" You're safe; We're in Neo-Europa, Forty minutes from my workplace and five minutes from the nearest McDonalds. You're safe.

"I-hic-am?"

"Yes, you are. Now Soran, Soran son...can you breathe with me. Can you do that?"

A hesitant nod.

"Good, now I want you to breath in for three counts and out for five alright? Ready….Breath in..1..2..3...Breath out..1..2..3..4..5...good, now in for 4 seconds and out for six alright? Ready?"

The whole ordeal lasted roughly an hour maybe even an hour and thirty. But that didn't matter. All that is prevalent now is that Soran is now sitting in Graham's lap with his face buried in Graham's shoulder. The boy had fallen asleep and Graham continued watching the news.

"Authorities say that the motive behind the killings is that based on Religious discrimination. The neighbor who shot the parents said that he was told to by God. And now back to Julie on the scene;

Well, Nick, we can't be absolute about the motive, but we do know the devastation that it brought to the child."

The son of the two victims had a face of despair, eyes that reflected no life. A lifeless doll sat on the back of an ambulance covered and shivering under a shock blanket.

With that Graham turned off the television and was left with his reflection in the black of screen. A face of anger, and resolution.

After that day, Graham had the Krugian set up with a monthly check ups and weekly meetings with a therapist.

"I'm telling you Billy! The kid is insanely insightful! One minute we're talking about what to eat for dinner and the next we're talking about intra-gravitational rotational and the mechanical uses of a a standard Flag's boosters! Look I even took pictures of him to show you! Look that's him feeding the goats at the municipal zoo! Isn't that hilarious! And this is him with his diploma, after skipping out on his graduation at the highest hono-"

"Graham, I appreciate that the child is in good hands, but would you calm down. One minute we're you're talking about mechanics and the next you're bragging about your new roommate. I'm getting whiplash just by listening to you speak."

"No, but Bil! You don't understand! You haven't met him yet! He absorbs information like a sponge and regurgitates it like a computer! It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! And when you get him talking….Bil you are going to want to dissect his brain!" proclaims Graham.

" Alright I'll stop by on my day off, but for now we're going in for our monthly meeting with Elfman, and I would very much enjoy a proper professional meeting. If Elfman wishes to know about Soran I'd be happy to show my way out."

Graham cleared his throat, and answered; " You're right, I can do this another time, maybe I'll even bring him over to the lab once in awhile." With that the blond walked past the scientist and into the office ahead.

" Ah, good morning Graham, and you Billy. " greeted Elfman.

" Good morning.", "You as well professor." they both stated at the same time.

" The General and I were just talking about you. He wanted to meet and congratulate the newest member of the academy."

"What do you mean sir?" asked the Blonde.

"Why, your son of course!" exclaimed the General.

"But we didn't even apply there yet, unless you mean that he was nominated by the general and yourself for the honors course? " asked Graham.

" Why of course! Who wouldn't want such a diamond in their school! I can assure you, as of right now his transcripts are being sent out to schools all over the world and you will receive numerous of letters of admittance. However, I believe it is your choice whether they should meet or not. After all, you are his guardian now." answered the elder.

" Of course, I'd mention that to him tonight sir. Is there anything else you would like to discuss?"

"Why yes, actually; the reason why I call you both here tonight is to talk about the newest model of the FLAGS. Billy, would you please elaborate." stated the mentor.

" Well, you see, while you were busy….parenting, I've been working on The EU's latest model of the FLAG. We've just recently put the sketches down and are in the process of ordering the parts. Mechanics are figuring out it's mobility, Comp. logistics are looking into its programming. We should have our prototype within a few months."

" Wonderful Billy, now with that being said; Graham, we want you to pick out the test driver. With your intuition, I'd expect only the best."

" I'd be honor to Professor. If you would send me a message about the meeting place with the general, I'm sure Soran would love to meet you all. You too Billy" Graham grinned at his long-time friend and watch as he rolled his eyes. " If we're all done here, I promised lunch with Soran at the cafe` down the street today."

" Haha, of course Graham, have fun with the kid." Answered Dr. Elfman, "Oh and Graham," The blond turned back from the open door; " I didn't think that you would be such a doting father, but I'm glad that you stood up that day."

"Thank you sir. I'll be on my way." answered Graham before he headed off to his lunch.

Graham walked into the cafe just a few minutes after noon. Looking around, instantly he spotted a fluffy head of black locks hiding in the remotest corner of the store. Rushing to the table, he sat down in front of the reading kid.

" You're late."

" Hey, hey, it's only been a few minutes after noon, you can't penalize me for that. I'm a busy man."

Soran scoffed and without looking up from his book he retorted, " Yeah, busy playing with action figures in your office. Lots of work being done there."

"Well, better than you, reading what is it? Red Rising by Pierce Brown? Hardly challenging."

"I think it has an interesting plot. Of course, you wouldn't understand Mr. academic-articles-only."

" Well, you read them too, so you can't say much. That's beside the point, give me a break will ya? "

Soran finally lifted his eyes from the book and stared into Graham's; " I'm ordering two orders of desert afterwards."

Graham sighed and nodded his head. It didn't matter, because Graham still noticed the small smile on Soran's face.

"So I met with Professor Elfman just earlier about furthering your education. And the-"

"You said yes right?"

"Pardon?" Graham asked with a raised eyebrow.

" It's to NU right?, your Alma Mater? I kinda figured, I mean you're always so excited to talk about your previous professors. And isn't Elfman teaching a class next semester? Maybe if we do the paperwork fast enough we can enroll in the course. "

"Well….you're not wrong. Granted you've should have seen this coming already with all our mail and the likes. But, that's beside the point. Did you want to go to this university? It's all open for you, and don't feel obligated to do anything."

"For you? Never." snorted Soran.

They were left with a comfortable silence. One reading while the other gazes out the window.

Graham isn't the sentimental type-or so he says. There are many cases which could be brought up for his defense; and yet Graham's was revisit by the box still filled with the new mobile model. It still had the plastic wrap over it and was still unmarked.

It was a the start of the boy's first semester at Neo-Euro University; and curiosity got the better of the blonde and he entered the young man's room while he was still in class. He forgot all about the boy. The room was barren, only the pieces of furniture of the previous guest room was all that gave it life. Other than those things it showed no signs of anybody living there. Graham also thought about the boy himself. They didn't really go shopping and the only reason why he has clothes to wear is because his cousin had gladly given him her son's old clothing.

Now that he thinks about it, he felt a little guilty. Maybe in the future he might be charged with child neglect...um..not the best thing to see on a military record.. Guess he'll have to change that.

While Graham was thinking, Soran entered the house. He noticed shoes that aren't normally there and concluded that his 'guardian' is finally home. Out of habit Soran heads straight up to his room. Instead of opening up to a dark empty room he sees the lights on at the end of the hall. Suspicious, Soran quietly walks up to the door and peers into the room. Giving a large sigh, he sees Graham on the ground with pieces of color plastic weird-looking sheets. His eyes were drawn to the cardboard box tossed at the side. Peridot eyes stared back at him motionless.

" Oh, you're back? Thought you're class end at eleven or something"

"Today's just syllabus work...Ah! Hey! What are you doing!"

The blond stared at the boy incredulously before answering, "Making a suit?"

As the Krugian stood at the door, Graham sighed, giving another look at the boy before motioning him over, " come on, let's build it together."

The boy continued to stare at the man. Graham looked up at the boy again, his face was in a pensive frown. But reluctantly sat down beside the lieutenant anyway..

A.D. 2303 Neo Europa, Apt. 945, West Avenue.

The doorbell rang and Graham walked over and opened the door. The man was a couple of inches taller than Graham. Long bronze strands tied back into a high tail, he wore a black dress shirt covered by a white over coat. Their conversation lasted almost thirty minutes, before he walked in. Soran, during the conversation at the door, went into the kitchen and was cooking up lunch. Graham suddenly came to turned off the stove and lifted the eighteen year old boy by the armpits and carried him into the living room, and set him down.

Soran stood there thinking 'what just happened?' and looked down to the spatula he was holding in his right hand, then stared at Graham with a dull face before rolling his eyes and walked back into the kitchen.

"Wait, wait, wait, Soran, Billy is here on behalf of his Professor in the Union overflag department, Dr. Eifman and he would like to see you today." said the blonde.

Soran stared at Graham with a face of indifference and continued on into the kitchen. Graham sighed, " Sorry Billy, he doesn't like to socialize often and today I still have to take him to his monthly check up so maybe next time?" Billy nodded and stood up, wanting to say his byes to the boy; he walked towards the kitchen which was oozing with rich aromas and spices. In the kitchen, the table was set with three plates of cooked omelette sprinkled with green onions.

Soran sat in a chair eating silently. Graham, curiously waved his friend over, Billy then joined Graham standing the the kitchen door, then chuckled inwardly walking in and placing himself on a chair, "aren't you going to eat? Soran went through the trouble to make us something to eat, then afterwards we can go visit Dr. Eifman."

Billy sat in the chair and enjoyed the rice omelette and thanked Soran.

A.D 2303 . 11:36

"Here is the chart Mr. Aker, No signs of enervation, it still seems that his body doesn't have enough nutrient and maybe that's the cause of his small size, which is surprising with how much he eats," Graham glanced at Soran then back " Also does he show any signs of exhaustion? at all?"

"No not really, well it's more like he doesn't do much any way, why?"

"Because over the years, his record shows that he uses an abnormal amount of waves as time progresses, see here the average human uses this amount of brain waves at a time and he uses this much. This is several times the amount that a regular human should have; this amount can possible lead to many seizures and tumor, but that doesn't happen does it? The scary thing is that he's using more, it always increases." he shook his head "Well, just make sure he doesn't overexert himself and gets a good night's rest every night."

After the examination the group strolled towards the door and headed off towards the Union Headquarters. Inside the Union building, Billy took them around and Graham greeted some of the workers. They passed the training room, and that when Soran saw a union FLAG, he went and stood right in front of it breathing in all details, the complex build of the frame and fine furnish of the maroon color. Honestly he only went because he was fascinated by Graham's reports of his supervising of the upgrading new models.

"Beautiful isn't it," asked an aged soothing voice "It took many years to build one and we finally made it possible, Dr. Elfman nice to meet you" he said and turned to Soran hold out a hand.

Soran hesitantly rose his hand to meet the doctor, but was startled by a crew member. As they were talking Soran gazed at his hand, 'Dr. Eifman, chief technician for the FLAGS and Union professor wanted to shake my hand' he thought inwardly. Sure he told Graham about the experience in Krugis but hid the fact about the angelic suit he saw, and he long sought to find that suit and will find it even if it kills him. This was the first step.
