FOR THIS STORY:

CN= Castiel Novak

GM= Gabriel Milton

AN= Anna Novak

DW= Dean Winchester

SW= Sam Winchester

Sorry if the name Charlize Winchester (Sam+Jess's kid) is too weird- I just like the name, so yeah. (pronounced Shar-leese)

SLOWLY WORKING ON MY SETTING OUT, DON'T HATE ME D:

At precisely 7:50pm, Castiel was standing outside the front of the hospital, texting Gabe-

Sorry Gabriel, can't make it. I promised the Winchesters (and by that, he purely meant Dean) I would bring Dark Knight Rises to keep them entertained- CN

Gabes response was immediate- and pissy.

Dude, wat the hek. totally ws gonna hlp u- GM

Castiel groaned. Bad grammar was one on the list of many bad habits he found pissed him off.

Sorry. I promised- CN

P.S. please use proper grammar, I have no idea what you're talking about- CN

fuk off dude, go be wit ur bra boy. i have mch better company- GM

Have fun without me, do not get too drunk- our shift starts at 5.30am, and I am so not dealing with your shit tomorrow- CN

Castiel then promptly turned off his phone and walked inside.

"Hey Sammy?" Dean stood in the doorway of Sam's and Charlize's room. Dean tried not to notice the red rims on Sam's eyes that was the only evidence of his grief, as he slowly rocked his daughter to sleep. Sam turned his tired eyes on Dean.

"Yeah Dean, what's up man?"

"Uh, I don't really want to disturb you, but uhm.. Cas is coming at 8 with Dark Knight Rises to watch… if you want a distraction that is."

"Uh… who's Cas?"

Shit. "He's the uh, paramedic that responded yesterday-"

"Fuck no Dean. He had one fucking job, and he fucked up. I do not want to meet the man who failed to save my wife."

Dean couldn't believe Sam's nerve. "The fuck man? Je- She had really deep cuts, and he told me there was nothing he could do without having proper surgical equipment, and even then, he was trying to help her in the back of a fucking van with no backup and there was nothing more he could do. If you want someone to blame, blame me."

Sam had the grace to snort at Dean. "Yeah, I'm sure. Basically, he said that to you so you wouldn't sue him, because if we had reason to suspect he wasn't qualified enough-"

"No, fuck you Sam. The guy feels awful, and he looked close to tears yesterday."

"Its an act Dean- besides, why do you care about this guy? You've met him once, and the first time you laid eyes on each other you were in a fucking car crash."

Dean looked coldly at his brother. Sure, maybe it wasn't totally his fault he was being unreasonable, but if anyone was to blame here it was Dean.

"Sam… The only one you should be angry with is me. I was the one driving remember? Do you blame me as much as you blame Cas?"

Sam sighed. "No of course not Dean-"

"Super. I'm gonna go talk to Cas now."

Dean walked over and ruffled Charlizes' newly-grown blonde hair and walked out. He could hear Sam huff behind him, but he just kept walking (you know, as manly as possible in a backless hospital gown with a saline bag dragging behind him)

Dean got back to his room to find Cas with his laptop on Dean's food table, The Dark Knight Rises menu open. Cas was looking mournfully at his cup of coffee.

"Aw, Cassie. What did that poor liquid do to hurt you?"

Cas jumped a tiny bit and went back to staring mournfully at the dreaded liquid as he replied.

"This coffee tastes like Lucifer's piss."

Dean looked at the blue-eyed man in amazement before bursting out into belly laughter.

"Uh, sorry Cas- but aren't kindof named after an angel? Isn't Lucifer one too?"

Cas rolled his eyes. "Technically, but because he is fallen, and the king of hell I'd like to think he pisses in hospital coffee just to stir shit up with the other archangels. You know, revenge and all."

Dean looked at the guy with new eyes. There goes his image of Castiel being the religious, prayer-y type.

Cas noticed his sudden change in glance. "What?"

Dean shook his head, and moved to sit back in his bed. "Dude, the second I saw you here, I immediately figured, really really religious paramedic, who volunteers at any church-related event in his spare time and also happens to preach on live T.V."

Castiel's face immediately stiffened, then relaxed quickly, but Dean had seen it.

"Sorry man… Didn't mean to judge…"

"It's fine Dean. I used to be the volunteering, door-knocking type, but shit happens and people move on. Are we watching this or not?"

Cas pressed play and ignored all of Dean's apologetic looks towards him.

Two hours later, Batman had successfully died and returned again (predictably) and Dean had paid no attention to the end of the movie, as his attention was entirely focused on Cas who had remained stony-faced the entire time, not even shedding one tear when Alfred had his monologue of 'failing' the Wayne parents.

Dudes a machine, Dean thought. He found himself staring at his spiky black hair, and his stubble that looked sexy as hell on his pale skin. He could see the blue tinge of Castiels' eyes in his head that just looked sad all the time. He found himself wondering what they would look like when filled with joy, or want, or lust-

Um, wow dude. Aren't we straight?

Yeah. Definitely straight, we checked out that nurses ass today-

Bisexual?

No, Hell No.

Or… maybe just a little gay for this guy?

NO.

"Dean?" Cas's voice broke through Dean's identity crisis. "I'm going to go, I have an early shift tomorrow…"

'Will you come back tomorrow?" The words slipped out before Dean could stop them.

Cas looked pleasantly surprised. "Okay, Man of Steel tomorrow?"

"Sure… but we can just talk too", Dean smiled.

Okay maybe a little gay.

"Uh, okay…"

"Dude give me your phone to put my number in. Text me when you're coming, okay?"

Cas nodded as he handed over his phone, and took Deans to put his own number in.

As they swapped back Cas had a thought. "Can I text you during my shift? I may spend a lot of time just at the station waiting to be on call…"

As soon as he said it, he felt dumb.

"Sure man, I'd love that." Dean sounded sincere, and that gave Castiel hope.

Hope for what, Castiel? His dead elder brothers voice floated through Castiels head. Piss off Michael, Cas ground into his head.

Not everyone is a fucking fag like you Castiel.

Castiel shook himself out of it, said goodbye to Dean and hurried the fuck out.

Dean watched Castiel walk out.

Oh yeah, definitely a little gay.
