Disclaimer: You know the drill. I don't own Naruto or Boruto. Kishimoto does. If I did, Sarada would be training under Naruto, and Himawari would be training under Hanabi and Hinata in the Gentle Fist and Gentle Step. Speaking of which…
Chapter Four: Getting In Sync
"Byakugan!"
Himawari jumped back to dodge her mother's Gentle Fist. Charging up chakra in her hands, she prepared to perform her own jutsu.
[Gentle Step: Twin Dragon Palm!]
Himawari placed her right palm over her left palm, facing them towards Hinata. Her blue chakra formed into a dragon shape around her palms, pulsing with energy. Now, this was a little spinoff of Hinata's Twin Lion Fists that combined it with the Eight Trigrams Air Palm. When the user created the Twin (insert animal) Fists, the Air Palm would kick in. So instead of just being a close-range technique, Himawari had made it into a long-range.
Anyway, two consecutive chakra dragons flew straight at Hinata's midsection, and she used her own Twin Lion Fists to absorb them. But Himawari, quite the strategist, had added paper seals in her jutsu, which landed on Hinata, the seals starting to go around her.
Hinata, knowing that she'd be sealed otherwise, used the Substitution Jutsu, replacing herself with a smoke bomb. The smoke bomb went off, covering the entire area with smoke, but with the Byakugan, Hinata and Himawari could see each other. Hinata molded her chakra, preparing to make a jutsu.
[Lightning Style: Triple Chain!]
Three long chains of lightning coursed through the air towards Himawari.
[Eight Trigrams: Palm Rotation!]
Himawari spun herself around, releasing her chakra to create a dome shape. The lightning bounced off her Rotation, hitting the ground. The moment Himawari stopped spinning, Hinata charged at her, charging her chakra. But Himawari was prepared.
[Water Style: Giant Wave!]
A large wave of water rushed at Hinata, but she jumped into the air.
[Fire Style: Twin Lion Fists!]
Hinata's regular blue chakra lions turned a fiery orange. Flames from the lions licked the air, heat radiating from them. Hinata launched herself downward, preparing to strike. Himawari prepared herself for the attack, making her hand seals.
[Sealing Technique: Chakra Draining Seal!]
A sealing symbol appeared in each of Himawari's palms just as Hinata closed in. Himawari ducked under a strike, sidestepping another. She jumped into a tree, trying to find an opening for her seal. Let's see, she thought. I'll have to get her to deactivate her Byakugan. And since the Byakugan is sensitive… Himawari grinned. A flash bomb should work.
She placed her hand on the tree, a scroll appearing. She unsealed several flash bombs, launching them at Hinata. With the sensitivity of the Byakugan, it seemed to Hinata that her eyes were burning up, and she covered her eyes. Sensing her opening, Himawari deactivated her Byakugan and rushed forward to place the Chakra Draining Seals on Hinata.
Hinata sensed Himawari coming, but with her eyes impaired, she couldn't get out of the way. Himawari pressed her palms on Hinata's sides, the seals spreading across her body. Himawari felt her mother's powerful chakra flowing into her. Man, I didn't realize my mother's chakra was this powerful, Himawari thought.
Hinata struggled against the seal, her chakra flaring. The smoke had long since cleared, and Himawari could see her moving. "Well, guess I finally beat you," Himawari said, grinning.
She deactivated the seals, helping her mother up. "You've gotten better," Hinata congratulated her.
Himawari smiled, accepting the compliment. Then she thought of something completely unrelated. "What if we throw a party to welcome Boruto back?" she asked, thinking deeply about it.
Hinata paused. "Well, I think we can do that. But be warned-Hyūgas party hard. I think we can invite the Uchihas, and Mitsuki, Konohamaru, Shikadai, Denki, Metal Lee, Sumire…" Hinata continued listing names for a while, but Himawari was busy planning the whole thing out.
"Alright," Himawari said, interrupting her mother. "I'll see you later. I gotta take a shower, then start preparing things for the party."
With that, Himawari ran off. From the shadows Hinata's sister Hanabi chuckled. "She's just like Naruto when he was young. Sure, Naruto wasn't really a tactician, but Himawari still has the same childlike energy."
"I know," Hinata said, smiling at Hanabi. "If it wasn't for the fact that Himawari has my hair, I'd think she was a female Naruto. Same with the old Boruto. And speaking of which, Boruto and Sarada are going to battle Naruto and Sasuke in a couple days. I know they aren't going to win, but it will be fun to watch."
Hanabi smiled. "You're right. This should be fun."
Hinata didn't respond, walking towards her house.
Sarada and Boruto appeared at the Valley of the End, the waterfall rushing above them. The river flowing from the waterfall was under their feet. "Alright, what is it that you needed to say?" Boruto asked.
Sarada smiled. "Well, you and I haven't been on the same team for three years, so I figured we'd take a couple days to get back in sync."
Boruto grinned. "I like the way you think. Even if it's been three years, you still are the smart one." Then Boruto remembered his other teammate. "How's Mitsuki?"
Sarada's smile dimmed a bit. "He left to go train under his parent, Orochimaru. To this day I still don't know if Orochimaru's a male or female."
The two laughed at the joke, Boruto glad to know the whereabouts of his friend. "Alright, let's get to the training!" Sarada said, activating her triple-tomoe Sharingan.
Boruto had already activated his Jōgan, unsheathing his katana with his right hand. He made twenty shadow clones, each with their Jōgan activated. "I want you to fight the two of us. Don't hold back," Boruto ordered.
The clones nodded, jumping onto the sides of the valley. "Ready Sarada?" Boruto asked.
"Are you asking me or yourself?" Sarada responded.
Boruto grinned. The clones rushed at them with elemental Rasengans, taking the initiative. Boruto glanced at Sarada and they nodded. They molded their chakra, taking a deep breath.
[Fire Style: Flame Wave!]
[Fire Style: Majestic Destroyer Flame!]
Walls of flame shot out of their mouths, racing towards Boruto's clones. The immense heat turned parts of the river to steam, blocking Boruto and Sarada's views. They went back to back. "Boruto, can you see past the fog with your eye?" Sarada asked quietly.
"Yes," Boruto replied, noting that his clones had disappeared.
"I can't see past obstructions like this, so I'll need you to cover for me," Sarada said, scanning her surroundings with her eyes.
Boruto nodded, molding Wind Chakra.
[Wind Style: Breakthrough!]
A gust of wind from Boruto's mouth blew the mist away, showing them their surroundings. But then a kick knocked Boruto to his knees. Boruto quickly got up, creating a Rasengan in his left hand. He twirled around, ready to destroy his clone. But when he turned around, nothing was there.
"Sarada?" he called, using his Jōgan to look around. No one was in the valley, so that meant his clones must have taken Sarada somewhere else. But then Boruto heard pained shouts coming from his left side, and took off in that direction. He let his Rasengan swirl to nothing as he raced to find his partner.
Using his Jōgan, he soon spotted Sarada facing off against all of his clones. She currently had her pink skeletal Susano'o active, and a whirlwind of red flower petals surrounded her. Her right eye was bleeding, but she kept at it, her Susano'o arms slamming into his clones. "Sarada!" Boruto called, trying to get his teammate's attention.
When she didn't notice him, he warped on top of her Susano'o, preparing to attack.
[Water Style: Giant Wave!]
A giant wave of water rushed at the clones in front of him, sweeping them away. Then Boruto jumped from the Susano'o head, holding his katana high in the air.
[Lightning Style: Lightning Stream!]
Boruto channeled his Lightning Chakra into his katana, sparks flying from it. He threw the katana down into the water, the electricity flowing through it. His clones were hit by the beams of lightning, but they warped away before the bulk of the damage could be done.
Boruto grinned. I still got it! he thought. He warped down to retrieve his katana, then warped back to the Susano'o. Then he remembered Sarada. "Do you need some extra chakra?" he asked.
Sarada nodded. Boruto climbed into the Susano'o with Sarada, activating his Kāma. It extended onto Sarada's arm, providing her chakra so she could continue using her Susano'o. "There," Boruto said after the process finished.
Sarada blushed, turning her attention back to the Boruto clones now surrounding them. She reverted her Mangekō to its triple-tomoe form, the Susano'o fading. Now the both of them were back to back, surrounded by shadow clones. "Alright," Sarada said, a plan formulating in her head.
"I'll run through the ranks of shadow clones and use Genjutsu on them. You'll go behind me and cut down each shadow clone I put under Genjutsu. Then, if there are any remaining, we'll combine our most powerful Wind Style and Fire Style to deal with them."
"I like how you think," Boruto said, readying himself.
"Let's go!" Sarada shouted, taking off.
[Genjutsu: Sharingan!]
She put a shadow clone under a Genjutsu. Boruto followed her, slashing through the shadow clone with his lightning infused katana. Sarada put the next few shadow clones under Genjutsu, and Boruto slashed through them. But then, right after Sarada put another set of shadow clones under Genjutsu, they broke free, dodging Boruto's katana. "They're breaking out of your Genjutsu!" Boruto called, parrying a strike from a shadow clone.
Sarada frowned. Now she was going to have to use her Mangekyō. She activated it, increasing her Genjutsu power. She continued with the technique, placing each clone under her spell. But then Boruto said, "Sasuke-sensei taught me how to counter Genjutsu, so my clones have knowledge on it too."
"Why didn't you tell me that sooner?!" Sarada yelled exasperatedly. She readied her chakra.
[Teleportation Jutsu!]
Sarada appeared in a tree, scanning the ground below her. Boruto was in the middle of a sword fight with one of his clones, the others swarming him. But by using his Jōgan, he could warp ahead of them. When he spotted Sarada, he warped up beside her, crouching. "Do you have a smoke bomb?" Boruto asked.
"Do I?" Sarada responded, digging in her pack. Sure enough, she pulled out two smoke bombs, launching them at the clones beneath her. They were covered in thick black smoke, allowing Boruto and Sarada to make an escape. As they raced through the trees, Sarada said, "Since we're going to use our strongest jutsus here, I think I can show you my newly created Kekkei Genkai."
"Might as well show you mine, too. But after this battle. It won't help your fire," Boruto said.
Sarada nodded, turning around. The clones had followed them, making things a lot easier. Sarada first closed her left eye, sending chakra to her right.
[Hanokami!]
A wave of red flower petals swarmed the clones, cutting through them.
Then she molded her Lightning and Fire Chakra.
[Plasma Style: Burn!]
Boruto went next, adding Wind Chakra.
[Wind Style: Hurricane Gust!]
A swirling wind flew into the Plasma Style, increasing its power. Now the hot electric-fire swirled in tandem with the wind, slamming into the horde of Boruto clones. Sarada and Boruto worked to keep their chakra ratios in perfect sync. "Put a little less Plasma Style Chakra into it," Boruto called, and Sarada poured a little less into it.
[Combination Technique: Flaming Hurricane!]
Sarada and Boruto finally synced their chakras, the combo becoming more powerful. The Boruto clones didn't have time to warp away, getting severely burned and shocked in the process. Smoke rose into the air, blocking Sarada's vision. But all of a sudden, something slammed into Sarada. "What the-" she fell to her knees.
Boruto turned around, creating a Rasengan. But he saw no one there. Suddenly he felt his Kāma pulsing. What? he thought.
He raised his hand into the air, preparing a Water Release.
[Water Style: Hidden Mist Jutsu!]
A thick fog surrounded him and Sarada, spreading into the general area and canceling out the smoke. Boruto was able to see through the fog with his Jōgan, spotting Sarada. He picked her up, keeping a close watch on his surroundings. Then he saw something. It was a quick blur. But he saw it. A chakra signature other than his and Sarada's. "Sarada," he whispered.
"Hmm?" Sarada answered, groaning from the pain of her kicked legs.
"We're being watched," Boruto said.
Boruto focused on his seal and the Kāma on Sarada restored her chakra, relieving her pain. Sarada stood up, forming her Susano'o. With Boruto's added chakra, she advanced it past skeletal stage, adding legs and musculature. "Nice," Boruto said as they were coated in the pink chakra.
But then Boruto spotted the foreign chakra again. "To your right," he whispered to Sarada.
Sarada made her Susano'o's right arm come whirling around, trying to hit whatever thing her friend was seeing. When the Susano'o didn't hit anything, Sarada prepared a jutsu.
[Fire Style: Phoenix Fire Jutsu!]
A flurry of fireballs flew from Sarada's mouth, escaping the Susano'o. They struck multiple spots on the ground, setting things on fire. "Boruto, I need you to clear this mist so I can see better," Sarada said.
Boruto nodded.
[Wind Style: Immense Breakthrough!]
A huge gust of wind blue away the fog, clearing Sarada's vision. She sent chakra to her left eye, preparing to use Dorīmutsuisutā when she sighted the target. "In front of you," Boruto said.
Sarada scanned her surroundings, trying to spot the target. Then she saw a boy, standing right in front of the Susano'o. Well, he wasn't really a boy, per se. He was more of a teen, around Boruto's age, with grey eyes and bushy black hair, the sides of which were shaven. He had a pair of piercings on his right eyebrow, and stud earrings. He wore a dark blue cloak which covered his shirt and pant. He also wielded a bō. Then, after a moment, she noticed he had markings similar to Boruto's.
Ignoring that fact, Sarada established eye contact with him, preparing to use her Genjutsu.
[Dorīmutsuisutā!]
The boy dropped to his knees, yelling and screaming. He writhed on the ground, clutching his head. "Your Genjutsu is really hurting him," Boruto said.
Sarada shrugged, making sure she kept the Genjutsu active. She made her Susano'o arm extend downwards, grabbing the teen. Then she made the Susano'o start walking forward, moving towards the heart of Konoha. All the while she and Boruto thought, Who is this boy?
Endnote: How'd you enjoy Boruto and Sarada's training session? What about Himawari's? Let me know in the review, or PM me. Also, who do you think this new character is?
Anyway, we'll elaborate more on the party in the next chapter. Also, Mitsuki!
Peace,
YellowFang
