Chapter 4: Aang

It's been a long day already, and it's barely past noon. I guess all that looking for Azula has gotten all of us worn out. Especially Zuko. Being fire lord must be hard, and he's looking for his mom, now Azula.

Maybe I should tell them where Azula went but I did promise her I wouldn't…

*Few Hours Ago*

I hopped on my glider and started flying towards the trees. I don't understand why everyone's so freaked about Azula leaving. I'm sure she'll come back.

I yawned. It's too early to be doing this, I'm still way too tired.

"Shit!"

Who was that? Someone was down there. Azula?

"Hello?" I landed on the ground, looking around, hearing the leaves rustle. All of a sudden, they stopped.

"Hellooooooo?" I tried again. What was that?

"Hmmpf." A soft noise came from the same place. I walked towards there

"Azula?" I looked behind the bushes "Azula!"

"Shit." She looked at me with a death glare. Vines entangled her, biting into her flesh. I could see blood dripping from her cuts.

"Dude, what happened?" I started ripping the vines from her body "You're all bloodied up."

"Don't touch me," She ripped herself away "I don't need your help."

"Ok, ok." I wiped my bald head "Have fun doing that."

"It's not that ****ing hard." Jebus, why does she curse so much, it hurts my head.

"There, see punk?" She stood up and brushed off the leaves.

"Yup. We should head back now," I got out Appa's whistle "Zuko's worried about you."

At the mention of his name, her eyes bulged out and got… teary? Then she grabbed her pack and ran.

"WHOA!" I yelled "Come back!"

I hopped on to my glider and chased her, she can only run for so long.

"Wait! Why are you running!" She looked back at me, and I took the chance to wrap her up in a tornado.

"The hell? Let me go!"

"No way." I leaned on my glider staff. "I gotta take you back to camp."

"I can't go back." I saw a tear drip down from her face "I won't."

"Why not?" I released her without thinking

"There's no point." She dropped to the ground "I will find Ursa on my own. You all are together, I don't belong. Besides, i have questions to ask her myself. Alone."

"But Zuko's your brother," I paced around her "You can rely on him, can't you?"

She stood up, fire in her eyes. I shrunk back. God, she was scary.

"We haven't been on friendly, nevermind loving, terms for awhile."

"So? He's still your brother, you can talk to him."

"Nope." She held a flame in her hand "I don't do talking. I've been alone, and I prefer to keep it that way."

"Well.. still come back to camp." I held out my hand for some odd reason "They're waiting for us."

"Do you not understand a single word I've said? I'm not going back."

"But why?"

She threw her head back "God, you're so dense. Leave already."

"Errr, nah."

"LEAVE!" She launched a fireball at me. I dodged, shooting a jet of water out. Being the Avatar as it's perks.

Another jet of fire, but this time it was blue. I wrapped myself in a bubble of water, then froze it into ice and sent out the shards. Azula dodged back and forth, whipping a ribbon of blue fire and melting the ice.

"Goddang! Stop!" I shouted "Why do you fight to solve everything?!"

The fireballs kept coming, just nearly missing my hand. Summoning all the strength I had I sent a big chunk of earth at her, trapping her.

"Damn it!" She writhed under the solid dirt "Let me go!"

"Why do you hafta run?" I sat down, yawning. "We're just trying to help."

"I don't need your help! I'll end up killing all of you!" Was she crying?

"We're not that weak," I laid on the grass "I mean, Zuko just about killed you in that Agni Kai."

"You people don't trust me either!" She kicked and squirmed "I want to be alone.. please just let me go.."

My eye's widened. Did she say please? I crawled towards her

"Why though? You're fine with us."

She shook her head "I can't. People hate me, you guys will be put into danger. Besides, I told you i want to meet Ursa alone."

I sighed, there was no way she was going to come with me. "Alright," I released her "But don't get hurt. If you need help blow into this whistle." I dropped a duplicate of Appa's whistle into her palm.

"Thanks," She tucked it into her belt. It was weird looking at Azula without her hair all tied up and regal like. She looks more like a 15 year old girl.

"Your welcome," I stuttered when she caught me staring "I won't tell them anything so you just do whatever you gotta do." I grinned and scratched the back of my head.

You'll never believe what happened next. SHE SMILED. AZULA SMILED. and she looked kinda cute. Oops.

"Thank you Aang. I appreciate it." She dipped her head "See you soon."

With that, she turned around and left. I got up and turned the other way.

"Well, time to get back to camp!"

*End of Flashback*

"Aang do you want some?" Katara prodded me on the shoulder

"Huh? Some what?" Next to me, Sokka snickered.

"Mochi," She unwrapped a package "Zuko brought it from the palace."

"Oh yeah sure." I grabbed the sticky rice cake thing. It was pink colored with flour or some kind of white thing dusted over it. I shoved the entire thing into my mouth. "Yum."

"Ick, don't talk with your mouth full." Katara scolded me. Sometimes I think she's my mother more than my girlfriend.

"It's ok, you're not going to fall." I heard Toph say to Kyou. Now that i look at him even closer, he looked a lot like Azula too.

"Hey Kyou." I said "Are you a bender?"

His golden eyes widened, then he scrunched himself into a ball and sobbed.

"Wha-" I held up my hands. Why was he crying? "I didn't mean to make you cry."

"Kids," Sokka yawned "Maybe he's been traumatized by benders."

Then I noticed Zuko. He stared out the side of the saddle, lost in thought. He must be worrying about Azula. I wish I could tell him where she is, but i can't.

"Zuko," I started "She'll be okay."

"I have no doubt about that." he said curtly "I just don't understand why."

There's obviously nothing i can do. I walked back to Appa's head and sat, staring out in the distance.

Azula, where ever you are, please stay safe and strong for Zuko.. and for the rest of us.
