Chapter 4- I'm really trying
It has been three days and Nathan has still not shown up for classes. There was a lot of work this week and teachers were assigning homework. There was no way Nathan would Nathan would ever be able to get caught up, especially without having Haley to tutor him. Brooke took it upon herself to get the master key to get into Nathan's locker and get his books so could get his homework done. She knocked on the door to the apartment and no one answered. She wasn't surprised, Nathan never seemed to answer the door anymore. Brooke opened the door and went in. She found Nathan playing video games and of course his favorite thing to do lately, drinking a beer.
"Nathan, why weren't you at school today?" asked Brooke.
"I didn't feel like going," said Nathan.
"I brought you your homework for this week. You are getting so behind. I don't want you getting too far behind," said Brooke.
Nathan stops playing the video game and looks up at Brooke. "Do you think I really care?" he asked her.
"Okay, I am really trying here. I am spending my time trying to help you and to get you up and to stop feeling sorry for yourself that your wife left you and that she kissed some other guy. Obviously you don't want to stop feeling sorry for yourself," said Brooke as she threw the books down on the coffee table and picked up her bag to leave.
"Brooke.. ," said Nathan instantly regretting the way that he had treated her.
"Just forget it," she said as she made her way to the door.
"Brooke..," said Nathan again.
Brooke walks out the door, slamming it behind her. Nathan gets up off the couch and opens the door to run after her.
"Brooke! I'm sorry!" he yelled as he opened the apartment door.
Brooke turned around to face him, her long dark hair flew over her face. "Well, I am glad to see you are up off the couch and fighting for something and not sitting around feeling sorry for yourself," said Brooke.
"I am sorry was being such a jerk," said Nathan.
"Even though Haley left you, you still have so much Nathan," said Brooke.
"I left her a message and told her that if she didn't contact me within the next two days we were done, especially now after that interview and since I found out about the kiss. I left her that message three days ago, so I guess we are done. That's why I am so upset," said Nathan.
"How did you know that Haley and Chris kissed?" asked Brooke with a confused look on her face.
"Peyton told me," said Nathan
An irritated look washed over Brooke's face. "I can't believe her. I can't believe you either. I come over her to see how you are doing and to give you your homework, because you are too busy laying around feeling sorry for yourself, but really you should be trying," said Brooke.
Brooke was abruptly stopped when Nathan suddenly kissed her.
