Chapter Four: Elements of Harmony

Both Twilight Sparkle and Spike went back to the library, not stopping for anything. She needed to find the Elements of Harmony, and she needed to find them now! While the mare searched around for a certain book her assistant offered to help, but unfortunately he was too tired. "You've been up all night, Spike. You are a baby Dragon after all." She told him as he went to sleep, and not a moment after she continued her search for the book. "Elements, elements, elements... Ugh! How can I stop Nightmare Moon without the Elements of Harmony?"

About a second later Rainbow Dash and her friends entered the library. "And just what are the Elements of Harmony? And how did you know about Nightmare Moon, huh? Are you a spy?" The rainbow maned Pony interrogated the Unicorn, only to be pulled back by her blonde friend. "Whoa!"

"Simmer down, Sally. She ain't no spy. But she sure knows what's going on. Don't you, Twilight?" Applejack noted as everypony else gathered around Twilight.

Before an explanation could be given Vegito appeared right behind all of them, having used Instant Transmission. "Hey what are you guys doing here, shouldn't you be looking for Princess Celestia?" He asked.

The Ponies turned around and saw him standing there, and the sight of him made them all a little relieved. They kind of figured that he would show up, especially after he challenged Nightmare Moon and she ran away from the fight, which meant finding Princess Celestia wouldn't be so hard. If he could beat Nightmare Moon, then locating a missing Princess should be a breeze. Not just that, but he could also protect them in case Nightmare Moon tried to attack or harm them.

"Twilight was just about to tell us what's going on." Rarity explained.

"I read all about the prediction of Nightmare Moon. Some mysterious objects called the Elements of Harmony are the only things that can stop her, but I don't know what they are, where to find them; I don't even know what they do!" Twilight said in panic.

Vegito started smirking, as he was fully capable of taking down Nightmare Moon himself. Of course, he was a little curious about these 'Elements of Harmony'. Never before had he heard of such a thing, and was actually intrigued to find out what power they held. It sounded a little ridiculous sure, but it wouldn't be the first time he's come across something ridiculous with a lot of power. So he figured he would let the Ponies use this weapon. And if they didn't find it, or the Elements didn't work however he would step in.

"The Elements of Harmony: A Reference Guide." Pinkie Pie said while looking at a random bookshelf.

"How did you find that?!"

"It was under "E"!" The pink mare sang.

"Oh." Twilight said in disbelief before looking through the book. "There are six Elements of Harmony, but only five are known: Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Honesty and Loyalty. The sixth is a complete mystery. It is said, the last known location of the five elements was in the ancient castle of the royal Pony sisters. It is located in what is now- "

"The Everfree Forest!" The Ponies all exclaimed.

"What's the Everfree Forest?" The Saiyan questioned.

"It's a very scary place, filled with danger. Not many Ponies ever visit it." Applejack explained as they prepared to leave the library.

"Sounds like my kind of forest"

Normally Ponies were scared to even go near the Everfree Forest, so to say the Ponies were shocked would be an understatement. His response probably shouldn't have surprised him, considering how he just forced Nightmare Moon into retreat, but they just couldn't help it. Even the strongest or most magically gifted Ponies had some kind of fear of the Everfree Forest, yet Vegito sounded like he was looking forward to it.

Vegito however smirked, he had been to all kinds of battle zones, including dying planets... there was no way some forest would scare him.

A few more moments passed before the group of seven left the safety of the library, and headed out toward the Everfree Forest. As they walked the Ponies couldn't shake the eerie feeling in the air. Maybe it was because of the fact that it was still dark outside, or because Nightmare Moon was out there, or because they had to go into a bad place. Either way they didn't like it, and only hoped that they could find the Elements of Harmony and return everything to normal.

After a few minutes of walking the group reached the entrance, and once there they were ready to start the search. "Whee! Let's go!" Pinkie Pie shouted.

"Not so fast. Look, I appreciate the offer, but I'd really rather do this on my own." Twilight protested.

"No can do, sugarcube. We sure ain't lettin' any friend of ours go into that creepy place alone. We're stickin' to you like caramel on a candy apple."

Everypony nodded as they began walking into the forest.

The lavender mare then looked over to the Saiyan. "I suppose you're coming too Vegito?"

"Do you really think I would miss out on the fun?" Vegito smirked.

Twilight sighed before following them in.

They all started wandering around the Everfree Forest, and this was the first time any of them had been inside of it before. It was indeed a dark place and Vegito could sense some evil energy all around. He made sure to have his guard up, just in case something happened. Naturally he could handle anything in the forest, but he was more concerned about keeping the Ponies safe.

"So, none of you have been in here before?" The lavender Unicorn questioned.

"Ugh, Heavens no! Just look at it - it's dreadful." Rarity exclaimed.

"And it ain't natural. Folk say it don't work the same as Equestria" The orange mare stated.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Twilight asked.

Rainbow took this opportunity to try and scare the others. "Nopony knows. You know why? 'cause every Pony who's ever come in, has never come out!" Right after she said that, the ground beneath them collapsed but only the two Pegasi and the Saiyan were able to fly... everypony else started falling to their doom. "Fluttershy, Vegito! Quick!" Both Rainbow Dash and Vegito took off.

The shy Pegasus hesitated for just a moment. "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!"

Rainbow Dash picked up Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy picked up Rarity and the Saiyan picked up Applejack.

"Twilight's still fallin', Vegito let me go!"

"You know I could just..." It was a pretty bad idea and could easily back fire, but if she wanted to save her then by all means. Plus with his reflexes the fused Saiyan could save them both in seconds.

"Just do it!" Applejack yelled, snapping him out of his thoughts. She was then dropped lightly near Twilight. The mare then quickly grabbed the Unicorn's forehooves, preventing her from falling any further.

"Applejack! What do I do?"

The blonde Pony looked her new friend straight in the eyes. "Let go."

"Are you crazy?" Twilight had no idea what kind of sense that made.

"Now listen here. What I'm sayin' to you is the honest truth. Let go, and you'll be safe."

Still feeling a little unsure, the mare hesitated for a moment. She quickly realized that there weren't many options at the moment, plus Applejack seemed so sure. So Twilight let go and started falling off the cliff. She fell for a few seconds before she was caught by Vegito, who then brought her down gently. She sighed in relief as her hooves touch the ground, all the while making another mental note to thank him every opportunity she got.

"I guess she was right." Vegito said to himself as the Earth Pony made her way down the cliff.

The group continued onward after that, and it didn't seem like anything else could go wrong... that is, until a loud roar was heard.

Suddenly a huge beast jumped out in front of them, and he was easily bigger than the ponies. He resembled that of a lion, except for the huge tusks, almost scorpion like tail, and the large pair of wings sticking out of his back. It was a Manticore, and it looked pretty angry, angry enough to attack the Ponies and the strange creature.

In a rare moment of bravery Rarity ran up to him. "Take that, you ruffian!" She shouted as she bucked it in the face, which did little but annoy it. She was then roared at once again, which messed up her mane. Realizing her mistake the mare booked it out of there.

The fused warrior watched with amusement as his friend was being chased by the beast. He chuckled lightly before grabbing the beast by the tail, and then holding him upside down, shocking everypony. "Let me take care of this." He told them as he began lowering his power level, as a strike at his full base power would probably make the beast explode. At a speed quicker than the Ponies could see he gave the beast a punch to the stomach, making him scream out in pain. "That was almost too easy." Vegito smirked as he released his grip.

The Manticore slowly stood up but had a hard time controlling his movements, due to the punch dazing him.

A slight chuckle escaped the Saiyan's mouth as he slowly approached the beast.

Meanwhile Fluttershy was trying to find the courage to tell him to stop, as she had an idea of how to stop the Manticore without needing to hurt him.

He was about to attack it again until his Saiyan ears heard Fluttershy speak softly. "Wait." Was what she said. The Saiyan looked over and saw the shy Pegasus walking up towards him. He raised an eyebrow as she flew up and whispered into his ear. After a few moments he relented and backed away from the beast, now rejoining the others.

Everypony besides Vegito looked on in fear as Fluttershy stood in front of the beast and rubbed up against his paw. "Shhh... It's okay. Oh, you poor, poor little baby."

"Little?" Rainbow Dash questioned.

"Now this might hurt for just a second." Fluttershy pulled the thorn out of his paw and the beast calmed down, much to the surprise of everypony.

"How did you know about the thorn?" Twilight asked.

"I didn't. Sometimes we all just need to be shown a little kindness." The mare stated, leaving Twilight to think.

They were now walking through a deeper part of the forest, and a certain somepony couldn't help but complain. "No. My eyes need a rest from all this icky muck." Rarity stated as they entered en even darker part of the Everfree Forest, which made visibility almost zero. "Well, I didn't mean that literally. "

"That ancient ruin could be right in front of our faces and we wouldn't even know it." Twilight noted.

Applejack then stepped in some mud.

Fluttershy screamed, but it wasn't because of the mud.

Everyone looked around and saw several scary looking trees around them, and everypony, except Vegito and Pinkie Pie, started running around screaming. Under normal circumstances the Ponies probably wouldn't have been scared, but given the current situation they couldn't help it.

"What happened to all of that bravery?" He asked as he noticed Pinkie Pie making funny faces at the trees. He stared at her blankly, having no idea what the pink Pony was doing.

Her other friends, who were still scared, looked at the pink mare. "Pinkie, what are you doing?! Run!" Twilight shouted.

"Oh girls, don't you see?"

"When I was a little filly and the sun was going down..."

"Don't tell me she's singing." A groan escaped the Saiyan's mouth as he buried his face deep within his palm.

"The darkness and the shadows, they would always make me frown...

I'd hide under my pillow From what I thought I saw But Granny Pie said that wasn't the way To deal with fears at all"

"Then what is?" Rainbow Dash questioned.

"She said, "Pinkie, you gotta stand up tall Learn to face your fears You'll see that they can't hurt you Just laugh to make them disappear." Ha! Ha! Ha!

So, giggle at the ghostly Guffaw at the grossly

Crack up at the creepy

Whoop it up with the weepy

Chortle at the kooky

Snortle at the spooky

And tell that big dumb scary face to take a hike and leave you alone and if he thinks he can scare you then he's got another thing coming and the very idea of such a thing just makes you wanna... hahahaha... heh... Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuugh!"

Thanks to her singing, Pinkie Pie had defeated the scary trees and allowed her and her friends to move on.

'I never thought singing could be a weapon... although I still think energy is a much better option.' Vegito thought to himself, all the while hoping that the singing was just a one time occurrence.

After some more walking the seven of them made it to a river, which was pretty wide, and didn't seem to have a way across. "How are we gonna cross this?" Pinkie Pie asked.

"Gee that's a tough one, I don't see any way of getting across. It looks like we should just go home." Vegito said sarcastically, earning glares from Twilight and Applejack.

After a few seconds the sounds of someone crying could be heard in the distance. "What a world, what a world."

They all made their way over to the sound of the crying, which was coming from a gigantic purple Sea Dragon with orange hair. "Excuse me, sir. Why are you crying?" The lavender Unicorn asked.

"Well, I don't know. I was just sitting here, minding my own business, when this tacky little cloud of purple smoke just whisked past me and tore half of my beloved mustache clean off, and now I look simply horrid."

Hearing that made Vegito slap his forehead and the cyan Pegasus groan. "Oh give me a break." She said.

"How can you be so insensitive? Oh, just look at him. Such lovely luminescent scales." Rarity said while pointing at his scales. "And your expertly coiffed mane. Your fabulous manicure... All ruined without your beautiful mustache."

"It's true, I'm hideous!"

"I simply cannot let such a crime against fabulosity go uncorrected." The Unicorn proclaimed as she yanked one of his scales off, making him yelp. She then cut off the end of her tail and gave it to him.

He looked at his new mustache and smiled. "Oh-hohohoho! My mustache. How wonderful."

"You look smashing." Rarity noted.

The lavender mare felt bad for her friend though, as she seemed to take value in her looks. "Oh, Rarity, your beautiful tail..."

"Oh. It's fine, my dear. Short tails are in this season. Besides, it'll grow back." The white Unicorn said while looking at her tail.

"So would the mustache." Rainbow Dash whispered to Twilight.

"We can cross now. Let's go. Ah!"

The Sea Dragon raised some of his body up so they could get across, but Vegito just flew across himself.

They continued walking until Twilight noticed the castle ruins in the distance. "There it is, the ruin that holds The Elements of Harmony. We made it!" She exclaimed before running excitedly toward it.

"Twilight, wait for us!" Applejack shouted.

"We're almost there. Whoa!" The lavender Pony was just about to fall off of the cliff, again, but luckily for her she had been saved by Vegito... again.

"You know it isn't safe to be running off cliffs like this." He joked as he pulled her back on to solid ground.

The lavender Unicorn chuckled nervously as the others joined them.

This was the final gap before the castle, but getting there wouldn't be that easy. There was a bridge, but it clearly hadn't been used in quite some time, and unfortunately that was the only way to get across. "Now What?" Pinkie Pie asked as they all gazed at the big gap.

"It's like I don't even exist." Vegito grumbled as he shook his head in disappointment.

"Don't worry, I got this." Rainbow Dash flew down and grabbed the other end of the bridge and brought it over to the other side. As she attached one side of the bridge she heard a strange voice say her name, which was accompanied by some fog rolling in. "Who's there? I ain't scared of you! Show yourself!"

"We've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the best flyer in Equestria."

"Who?" She wasn't sure if they were talking about her or Vegito, but if they meant him then why are they talking to her? So they must have been referring to the one and only Rainbow Dash.

"Why, you, of course."

Rainbow smiled brightly, because her reasoning had been correct. "Really?! I mean... Oh yeah, me. Hey, uh, you wouldn't mind telling the Wonderbolts that, would ya? 'cause I've been trying to get into that group for like, ever."

"No, Rainbow Dash. We want you to join us, The Shadowbolts." Three Pegasi came running through the fog, and quickly skidded to a stop. They were wearing dark uniforms, which seemed to resemble that of a Wonderbolts uniform. "We're the greatest aerial team in the Everfree Forest, and soon we will be the greatest in all Equestria, but first, we need a captain. The most magnificent-"

"Yep."

"Swiftest-"

"Yes."

"Bravest flyer in all the land." They said.

"Yes, it's all true."

"We need... you."

It was like a dream come true for the Pegasus, and she just had to cheer. "WOOHOO! Sign me up." She said before heading over to the bridge. "Just let me tie this bridge real quick and then we have a deal."

"No! It's them or us."

From the other side of the bridge the fused Saiyan was sensing deception over there, and he could also hear their conversation. It was obvious that these 'Shadowbolts' weren't the real deal... well it was obvious to him anyway. "Rainbow don't listen to them, they're tricking you!" He yelled out as he watched the 'Shadowbolts' cover the area in clouds. His and the Pony's vision became completely obstructed, and if it weren't for his ability to sense he would have been completely blind. He only hoped that Rainbow would be able to resist their offer, but if worse came to worse he would step in.

"Well?"

There was a tiny pause before the cyan mare answered. "You... Thank you! For the offer, I mean," She clarified as she went and secured the bridge. "but I'm afraid I have to say no." She didn't even wait for any kind of response, and instead just left to rejoin her friends. Had she stuck around she could have seen the Shadowbolts turn to purple smoke and vanish, but she didn't. And once she emerged from the now clearing fog her friends cheered loudly. "See? I'd never leave my friends hangin'."

With that they all made their way across the bridge.

Vegito had a strange feeling about all of this. All of these occurrences seemed like some sort of test, and what each Pony did seemed to resemble that specific Element of Harmony. It almost seemed like Nightmare Moon was intentionally giving them challenges to see if the six Ponies truly represented the Elements of Harmony... but there was no way she would be dumb enough to do that, even if the current group of Ponies weren't the ones. That was just a theory though, and he figured he would get some answers sooner rather than later.

The group finally arrived at the ancient ruins, which definitely deserved the name. At one point there was probably a beautiful castle resting there, but now there was little more than a floor, some fallen apart walls, a set of stairs, and a set of double doors that somehow remained intact. It wasn't much better on the inside, especially with the vines along nearly every pillar. Directly in the center of the room was some kind of giant statue, which had five stones resting upon five pedestals.

"Whoa." Applejack exclaimed as she and her friends gazed upon the statue. "Come on, Twilight. Isn't this what you've been waitin' for?"

Twilight moved past her friends and looked closely at it, and she quickly realized what they were looking at. "The Elements of Harmony, we've found them." Without needed to say anything she watched as Rainbow, Fluttershy, and Vegito flew up and brought down each stone. "Careful, careful!" She assumed that they would handle the stones gently, but she just wanted to make sure nothing bad happened to them.

"One, two, three, four... There's only five!" The pink Pony counted.

Vegito's brow furrowed upon hearing that. "So where's the last one?"

"The book said: when the five are present, a spark will cause the sixth Element to be revealed."

Applejack narrowed her eyes, feeling genuinely confused. "What in the hay is that supposed to mean?"

"I'm not sure, but I have an idea. Stand back. I don't know what will happen." Her horn became bathed in a lavender glow as she began using her magic on the set of stones.

"Come on now, y'all. She needs to concentrate." The farm-Pony told her friends as she and them began leaving the room.

As Vegito was leaving the room he sensed Nightmare Moon, and according to his sense she was somewhere near the ancient ruins. He wasn't sure what she was doing, or if she had another plan to try and stop the Ponies, but that didn't really concern him. The Saiyan could easily defeat her, and do so in under a second. He wasn't going to do that though. Twilight seemed so keen on getting the Elements of Harmony to work, so why not let her?

All of a sudden a purple mist, similar to what the Shadowbolts turned into, made its way around the room. It snaked its way around a pillar and eventually reached the Elements, and upon doing so started spinning around. The spinning quickly created a blue tornado, which trapped the Elements of Harmony in the seemingly endless spin cycle.

"Aah!" Twilight yelled as the tornado swirled right in front of her. "The Elements!" It was a little terrifying, but since she needed the Elements she had little choice. So, the lavender mare jumped into it, and upon doing so she, the Elements, and the tornado disappeared.

The Saiyan had heard the scream and instantly ran into the room, and once he did he noticed that the Unicorn was gone. "Twilight!"

Not a moment later the other Ponies came running into the room, having heard the scream as well. "What happened, where's Twilight?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"No time, just grab on to me!" He commanded as he placed two fingers on his forehead.

Everypony exchanged confused glances, unsure what he was planning. Since they didn't have any other ideas they complied. One by one they went over and grabbed a hold of him as instructed, and they made sure their grips were tight. They figured that he would fly them around while they searched for the missing Pony, so they were surprised when they just suddenly vanished. The next thing the Ponies knew they were in some kind of void, with several different colors all around them. It was truly an amazing sight, one that they had never seen before.

A few seconds passed before the Ponies realized they weren't in the void anymore, and instead they were now in a different part of the castle. Nopony had any idea what just happened... well, they figured it was some kind of teleportation, but it seemed a little different. They all stood in place for a couple moments, feeling a little dizzy from that ordeal. They quickly shook it off though as they needed to help their friend.

Nightmare Moon had been feeling confident, as she was guarding the Elements and the only opposition was a plain old Unicorn... however as soon as Vegito appeared in the room her confidence immediately left. Her humiliating defeat was still fresh in her mind, as well as the fear she felt when he had almost blasted her into oblivion. Her mind quickly began racing as she struggled to come up with a plan.

The Saiyan both noticed, and felt, the fear in the evil Alicorn. "You guys stay here, I'll handle her!" Vegito told them as he walked towards Nightmare Moon, all the while smirking. "So do you want me to do this slowly, or should I just get this over with now?"

Fearing the worst the Alicorn fired a magical beam at him, trying to put as much power into it as possible. Unfortunately she didn't have any better luck this time, and she looked on in disappointment in fear as her attack did nothing. Realizing that she couldn't possibly fight him she tried running away, but before she could even move her opponent appeared behind her. She was then lightly punched in the face, which sent her skidding across the ground.

Despite the dire situation they were still in Twilight couldn't help but look on as Nightmare Moon slid across the floor. She continued staring before shaking her head rapidly. "Come on, we should use this time to figure out how to unlock the Elements!"

Everypony else nodded as they followed her over to the stones.

A yawn escaped The Saiyan's mouth as he approached the downed Pony, who looked pretty terrified. A smirk then came to his face as he held out his palm, which soon started glowing with a blue light. "Any last words before you die?"

"Vegito wait!"

He stopped, unaware of why Old Kai was contacting him. "What do you want Kai I'm kind of busy right now!" He yelled aloud.

The Ponies had stopped when they heard the Saiyan mention somepony named Kai. They glanced over and didn't see anypony else in the room, which just added to their confusion. "Who's he talkin' to?" Applejack questioned as she and the others exchanged puzzled looks.

"It's not important, come on we have to figure this out!" The lavender Unicorn yelled in panic.

"There's something you should know about Nightmare Moon."

"What's that?"

Meanwhile Nightmare Moon was laying there in shock, having never felt so scared before. She was on the brink of death, and if she had to think of a way to beat Vegito while he was distracted. A frontal assault was futile, no, if she needed to win she needed to outsmart him... but she didn't know if that would work. If anything she just needed him gone, at least long enough for her to stop the Ponies. And once her victory was secured she would then think of a way to defeat the Saiyan.

"She's Princess Celestia's sister!" Old Kai yelled.

Hearing that made the fused warrior gasp lightly, and the energy he had been charging slowly fizzled out. He remembered what Celestia had told him about her sister, and how upset the topic seemed to make her. Ordinarily he wouldn't have cared, and would have simply killed her... but for some reason he couldn't bring himself to do it. Even if the Alicorn was evil she was still Celestia's sister, and it didn't seem right to just kill her.

Nightmare Moon looked up and saw Vegito standing there motionless, and she realized that it was now or never. Her horn and eyes began glowing a dark purple as she used her magic to teleport him out of the castle.

Everypony had heard the teleportation sound, and when they looked over they noticed the Saiyan was gone. "Vegito!"

Just then Nightmare Moon reappeared in front of them, she stomped on the ground and the stones shattered into small shards. "What will you do now without your precious little friend to protect you?" She asked in triumph, having gone from terrified to ecstatic in no time at all.

A small look of fear came to Twilight's face before it changed into a smirk. "We may not have Vegito with us but we can still defeat you! You think you can destroy The Elements of Harmony just like that? Well, you're wrong, because the spirits of The Elements of Harmony are right here." She shouted.

"What?"

"Applejack, who reassured me when I was in doubt, represents the spirit of... honesty! Fluttershy, who tamed the manticore with her compassion, represents the spirit of... kindness! Pinkie Pie, who banished fear by giggling in the face of danger, represents the spirit of... laughter! Rarity, who calmed a sorrowful serpent with a meaningful gift represents the spirit of... generosity! And Rainbow Dash, who could not abandon her friends for her own heart's desire represents the spirit of... loyalty!" As she was speaking the shards of the Elements flew over to each Pony and began swirling around them. "The spirits of these five Ponies got us through every challenge you threw at us."

"You still don't have the sixth Element! The spark didn't work!" The evil Alicorn noted.

"But it did! A different kind of spark. I felt it the very moment I realized how happy I was to hear you, to see you, how much I cared about you. The spark ignited inside me when I realized that you all... are my friends!" The lavender mare proclaimed as another stone appeared above them, and then floated down and stopped a few feet above her head. "You see, Nightmare Moon, when those Elements are ignited by the... the spark, that resides in the heart of us all, it creates the sixth element: the element of... magic!"

Not a moment later the sixth stone began emitting a bright light. Shortly after the shards came together, forming a necklace around the five Ponies' necks. The stone changed into a tiara, which was placed atop the lavender mare's head. This caused their bodies to glow, as well as made them float in the air. Once they were all close together a white aura exploded around the six of them. Two rainbow-colored beams then shot out from the aura, and they danced around each other before joining together.

Nightmare Moon watched with wide eyes as the rainbow beam came flying at her, and had she not been in shock she might have been able to avoid it. Alas she didn't, and as she was struck by it. It wasn't a direct hit, but the evil Alicorn soon found herself getting engulfed by a rainbow colored vortex. It lasted for several agonizing moments before it suddenly stopped with another bright flash of light.

After using the Elements of Harmony the Ponies were lying on the ground, having been warn out from the attack. "Ugh, my head." The rainbow-maned Pony grunted.

Just then a faint explosion could be heard, but they didn't think much of it. They all assumed that it was just them being woozy and imagining things.

"Everypony okay?" Applejack asked.

"Oh, thank goodness." Rarity stated as her eyes fell upon her tail, which had somehow been restored to its former glory.

"Why Rarity, it's so lovely." Fluttershy pointed out.

"I know! I'll never part with it again." She still wasn't sure how it happened, but she was too happy to care.

While the shy mare agreed that her friend's tail was lovely that wasn't what she was referring to. "No. Your necklace. It looks just like your Cutie Mark."

"What? Ooh." Rarity's eyes drifted down at her new golden necklace, and the purple gem embedded into the center indeed resembled her Cutie Mark. "So does yours."

Fluttershy gasped as her eyes fell upon the pink butterfly in her own golden necklace.

"Look at mine! Look at mine!" Pinkie excitedly bounced over Applejack, showing her friend her golden necklace, which had a light-blue balloon embedded into it.

"Aw yeah!" Rainbow Dash had a red lightning bolt in hers.

Twilight had a golden tiara with light blue gems going across it, and embedded into the top part was a light-purple star.

Applejack's necklace had an orange apple in it. "Gee, Twilight! I thought you were just spoutin' a lot of hooey, but I reckon we really do represent the elements of friendship."

"Indeed you do." A soft voice spoke, which was accompanied by a bright flash of light. Shortly after the sun began to rise, and with the rising sun Princess Celestia returned.

Everypony instantly bowed to the returning Princess.

Twilight Sparkle gasped before excitedly running over to her teacher. "Princess Celestia."

"Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student. I knew you could do it."

"But... you told me it was all an old Pony tale."

"I told you that you needed to make some friends, nothing more. I saw the signs of Nightmare Moon's return and I knew it was you who had the magic inside to defeat her, but you could not unleash it until you let true friendship into your heart. Now if only another will as well. Princess Luna!"

Lying on the ground was an Alicorn with a light-purple coat, and a light blue mane. She had on light-blue horseshoes, as well a very dark-purple necklace that had a crescent moon upon it. Her Cutie Mark was a crescent moon resting on a dark blotch. Her light-teal eyes shot open upon hearing that name, and when she saw who was approaching her she felt some tears coming on.

"It has been a thousand years since I have seen you like this. Time to put our differences behind us. We were meant to rule together, little sister."

"Sister?" Nopony knew that Princess Celestia had a sister, or that her sister had somehow become Nightmare Moon.

"Will you accept my friendship?"

Before an answer could be given Vegito appeared in the room, and his intense gaze was fixed upon 'Nightmare Moon'.

A few minutes earlier...

Vegito had been teleported back into the Everfree Forest, courtesy of Nightmare Moon. Now that he was alone he had some time to think, which was much needed as he was very conflicted. "I can't kill Princess Celestia's sister, but at the same time I can't let her kill everyone." His brow furrowed as he stood there and thought more about it. He had no idea whether the Elements of Harmony would be able to beat her, and if they did fail then everypony would be beaten by Nightmare Moon. The Ponies just weren't powerful enough to take her on without the Elements.

"You had no problem killing me father!"

The Saiyan turned around and saw his son standing near him, which had taken him by surprise. "G-Gohan?" His eyes were wide, and his mouth hung open slightly. He had no idea how his son could be standing there. First off his son had no idea where the fused Saiyan went after defeating Buu, and second he was dead.

"I spent my whole life believing you were the greatest... but I guess I was wrong. You could have saved me father, but instead you just killed me!" Gohan yelled.

A small frown came to Vegito's face as he thought back to that battle. He had thought about letting Buu absorb him, and then going on a rescue mission inside of the monster... but he didn't think that would have worked, as it seemed like a pretty risky plan. "You were trapped inside Buu... there was nothing I could do." His son then started walking away. "Gohan wait I..."

Suddenly the fused warrior paused, as he came to a realization. While that may have looked like his son it clearly wasn't, as the energy he was sensing didn't belong to Gohan. "You must really think I'm an amateur." Had the emotions of seeing his dead son not occurred he might have picked up on it sooner. "Nice try Nightmare Moon, but I think I would recognize my own son. And considering all of your other attempts failed..." He was about to fire an energy blast at the fake but stopped when he gave him a hug.

Gohan remained like that before smirking devilishly, which was followed by his whole body glowing white. Soon after he burst from the seams, creating a massive explosion in the Everfree Forest.

As the explosion happened a different kind of explosion went off in the castle, except it was rainbow colored and didn't cause as much destruction.

After the smoke cleared the fused warrior was still there, and while the area around him had been damaged he was completely fine. "That attack was just like the Kamikaze Ghost Attack that Gotenks created." He noted as searched for the Ponies' energies. "There was no way that could have hurt me but... I guess I have no choice." A serious expression came onto his face. "Alright it's time to finish this!" Vegito then Instant Transmissioned back to the Ponies, and to his relief everypony was still alive.

Everypony saw the Saiyan appear, and seeing him return brought smiles to their faces. "Vegito! We were so worried about you!" Fluttershy shouted softly as they made their way towards him.

"I'm glad you're all still alive, but don't worry about Nightmare Moon... I can finish her!" Vegito proclaimed, making Luna panic.

"Wait, Nightmare Moon is gone!" Rarity yelled.

Unfortunately her cry went un-heeded, as the fused warrior was already on the move. In no time at all he was directly in front of the Alicorn, and in even less time he created another energy sphere. Right as he was about to fire he took a good look at her, and he noticed just how terrified she looked. It was then that he noticed how different she looked, and that her energy felt different. He quickly realized that the Ponies must have figured out how to use the Elements of Harmony, and that Nightmare Moon must no longer be evil. His hard gaze softened as the energy within his palm slowly dissipated.

The Element Bearers and Princess Celestia sighed in relief, feeling very relieved that he didn't just end her.

Princess Luna slowly looked up and saw him standing in front of her, and to her relief she wasn't dead yet. Her body continued shaking before she realized he wasn't attacking or threatening her, and this made her sigh deeply in relief.

He then extended his hand, which she grasped, and helped her to her hooves. "I'm sorry I nearly killed you, but at least I was able to sense your energy in time."

Seeing as how they were all gathered in one place, and because the Princesses were here, they figured now was a good time to get some answers. Vegito was capable of things nopony thought possible, and the surprises just kept on coming. Whenever they asked he would either give a brief answer or say 'I'll tell you later'. Well, it was later, and now was as good a time as any.

"So... how does one fly without wings?" Luna asked.

"Yeah, and how can you use magic without a horn?" Twilight questioned.

"And all of that other cool stuff you can do!" The cyan mare added.

He let out a long sigh, realizing that this was it. "I think it's time you all learned who I really am." Vegito said as they crowded around him. "It all started..."

He started telling the story of both Goku and Vegeta's childhood, giving them a good amount of details on each of their respective environments growing up. He then told about the Saiyans going to Earth and all of the battles that took place, including Goku and Vegeta's battle. He could tell the Ponies were saddened by the various deaths, but he assured them that everything would be fine. He could also tell they were confused by why they were hearing two different stories, but he told them it would make sense later.

Next he told them about Namek and searching for the Dragon balls, which included slaying several of Frieza's men. Fighting with the Ginyu Force and Frieza himself came next, and from the sounds of it they were tough battles. The fact that there were several deaths made the Ponies cry a little, but those deaths helped Goku become a Super Saiyan. And upon becoming a Super Saiyan Goku was able to defeat the evil tyrant once and for all.

About a year later a boy named Trunks appeared and killed Frieza and his father, who had come to Earth seeking revenge, and then told the Z Fighters about a pair of murderous Androids. The next three years were spent training in preparation for the Androids, and it seemed to have payed off. Cell came into the picture and killed several humans while searching for the Androids, and eventually he found and absorbed them. Neither Vegeta or Trunks could stop him, and this drove him to create the Cell games.

Goku had done all the training he could to prepare for the battle, and even that wasn't enough to defeat Cell. His son Gohan was chosen to fight next, but he couldn't win either. Cell pushed Gohan past his limits and ended up paying for it by losing his complete power, and with no other option he decided to blow himself up. Goku made the sacrifice that saved the world... well, not exactly. Cell had managed to survive the explosion, and came back even stronger. The fight came down to Cell and Gohan, and with some encouragement from the deceased Goku the half-Saiyan saved the Earth.

Seven years passed and the deceased Saiyan returned to Earth for a day, not realizing that an evil wizard named Babidi was trying to resurrect Majin Buu. After several shocking twists Buu had been revived, and after even more shocking events become stronger than ever. The monster killed pretty much everyone on Earth, and then absorbed most of his friends and family, which again made Ponies cry. After a motivational speech Goku and his rival Vegeta fused to become Vegito. The fused warrior then battled and defeated Majin Buu. After the battle he spoke to the Old Kai, who was a god overseeing the universe, and was challenged to go to Equestria and make friends.

"...And that is my story."

Everypony stared at him shocked, as that was one of the longest and most confusing stories they had ever heard. They were also a little unsure if what he said was true or not. It all sounded pretty intense, but also a little far-fetched. Space aliens, killer robots, engaging in battles that could literally change the shape of a planet... or destroy it in a worst case scenario, it all sounded crazy.

Rainbow Dash was the first to snap out of shock, and the first to question him. "So... you're just two Ponies joined into one?" She asked.

"Yep, thanks to these earrings." Vegito pointed to his Potara earrings.

Now that he mentioned it, his voice did sort of sound like it was two Ponies speaking at once. "And you spent your whole life fighting people, ever since you were just a child. Which included enslaving planets and protecting your own?" Twilight asked, feeling a strange mix of horror, disgust, and happiness.

"Pretty much."

"And ya died, but were brought back ta life?" Applejack asked.

"Several times." He said with a smile on his face.

"You were turned into chocolate by Buu, but you were still able to fight him?" Princess Celestia questioned, having never heard of something like that before.

"Pretty amazing right?"

Pinkie Pie was getting a little jealous of Buu's ability to turn things into chocolate/candy, as she would love nothing more than to do that.

They were still a little unsure, especially after that last claim, but luckily Princess Celestia knew of a way to find out the truth. She created another crystal ball and gave it to him. "Alright so is everything you told us true?"

"Yes." He said, making the ball turn green and everypony gasp.

"So you really are two Ponies fused into one." Rarity stated.

The fused Saiyan nodded knowingly.

Everypony couldn't believe it. It was a complete shock that his seemingly ridiculous tale was true, and that everything he told them actually happened. "So what's it like sharing a body?" Twilight wondered, curious about how that works. She had so many questions, and she wanted to know everything about it. Despite her eagerness she decided to keep the question simple, as there would be time later to fully diagnose him.

"It's a little weird at first but you learn to deal with it, and it was worth it for all of this power." He answered.

"And it's permanent?" The shy Pony asked.

"Yeah, but as I said it was worth it."

"Well I'm just glad you are on our side." Princess Celestia noted with a smile.

"You know what this means... PARTY!" Pinkie Pie shouted as they made their way back to Ponyville, and just as the mare said there was indeed a party. Everypony in Ponyville showed up, and couldn't have been happier. Their Princess had returned to them, and Nightmare Moon was gone.

Spike had a cheerful reunion with Twilight.

Princess Luna was a little nervous to be around Ponies, due to both her recent actions and because she hadn't come into contact with anypony in a thousand years. Luckily it seemed the Ponies of this time were forgiving, and she was welcomed back along with her sister.

There was one Pony however who wasn't so cheery, even though there was a party happening.

"Why so glum, my faithful student? Are you not happy that your quest is complete and you can return to your studies in Canterlot?"

"That's just it. Just when I learned how wonderful it is to have friends, I have to leave them." The lavender mare pointed towards the Ponies and Vegito.

Princess Celestia then got an idea. "Spike, take a note, please. I, Princess Celestia, hereby decree that the Unicorn Twilight Sparkle shall take on a new mission for Equestria. She must continue to study the magic of friendship. She must report to me her findings from her new home in Ponyville." She declared, making everypony cheer really loudly.

"Oh thank you, Princess Celestia! I'll study harder than ever before." Twilight promised.

The Princess only smiled before turning towards the fused Saiyan. "Vegito could you come here for a second?" Princess Celestia walked away from her subjects with the Saiyan following her. Once far enough away she stopped. "It seems you have made some new friends as well."

"Yeah... so?"

"How would you like to have a job as protector of Equestria?" She asked.

He raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that your job?"

"I am the ruler of Equestria, but you will be the one who fights off invaders." Celestia stated.

Hearing that made him come to a realization; Princess Celestia was just like Dende. Both were pretty weak but they still had powers in their own right. However the Princess was way more powerful than anyone else in Equestria, so she seemed more than capable of protecting her own planet. "I feel like the ruler would be able to do that herself."

Princess Celestia paused before giving her answer. "Although I can rule this land, I am not much of a fighter."

"So you're saying I'm more powerful than you?" He received a slow nod. "Is this a paying job?" He asked, hoping that this meant he wouldn't have to do actual work.

"Well no, but I'm sure Ponies would be willing to help out their protector... just try not to run them out of business."

He could accept that. "Alright fine, so do I have to live in your castle?"

"No, I want you to stay here in Ponyville with your new friends, having somepony like you around would be a great help to them."

"So you want me to watch over these Ponies?" The Saiyan questioned.

The Alicorn nodded once again. "Twilight and her new friends will face many challenges, and I want to make sure they have somepony strong to help them... but please try to let them solve the problem first."

"Don't worry, I'll only step in if necessary. Besides, I'm curious to see what kind of abilities they have." He smirked.

Princess Celestia smiled. "Farewell Vegito." She then unfurled her wings and headed back to her sister and Royal Guards.

Vegito waved goodbye as he watched her leave, all the while getting the feeling that he would get along with this guardian as well as the ones back on Earth. After a few moments he went back over to his friends, who were still celebrating their victory.

"So what did the Princess want?" Spike asked.

"Nothing really important, but it looks like I'm staying here with you guys from now on."

Everypony started to cheer in response, although there were still some mixed feelings from certain Ponies. Those feelings aside they still liked him and now their friendship could really start, and it would only a matter of time before they think of him as a true friend.

"So where is he gonna stay?" The honest Earth Pony questioned as they all looked around at each other. Personally she didn't want to be the one he stayed with. She couldn't stand to have him on the orchard anymore, as it would be bad for her entire family.

"He can stay with me, my bed is big enough for two." Rainbow Dash said, which made everypony giggle. "What?" She looked to each Pony with confusion, and then to Vegito who looked just as confused.

"You like him don't you Dashie?" Pinkie Pie nudged her friend, causing her friend's face to turn red.

The Saiyan didn't pay her joke any mind, he was just glad he would have a place to stay. "Well... this should be quite an adventure." He noted, making his new friends chuckle.

This was the start of not only a beautiful friendship, but an adventure that none of them would ever forget!
