Hello! Thank you so much for continuing to post reviews and favouriting this. It's been a busy time for me so I hope I haven't missed any grammatical errors. If I have, please just let me know and I'll sort it out as soon as I can. Have a lovely day!
"Careful, you'll choke yourself." Remus warned, watching James.
James looked up. He was hunched over his plate with bolognese sauce around his mouth.
Peter looked at him and chuckled.
"Mmm nnn mmmm." He said, his mouth full of food. He held a finger up and swallowed, then straightened up. "The quicker I get done, the quicker I get to go with Lily." He said.
Sirius groaned. "Not this again!" He said, though they all knew that he didn't really mean it.
James glanced at her. He knew he had been talking about her more than usual but he couldn't help it; she was completely and utterly amazing. And this was the closest thing to a date they had had. Wow.
Sirius looked at him, smirking. "Why don't you tell her about the dream you had a few months ago?" He asked.
James blushed slightly. "Shut up about that, she'll hear!" He said, glancing at her. He cringed at the thought of her finding out about that.
Sirius hummed the traditional wedding song, leaning close so the others wouldn't hear.
James threw a meatball at him, which made the marauders laugh.
Sirius laughed and wiped sauce off his shirt. "Hey!" He said, smiling.
James laughed and pushed his plate away. "Do you think I have time for desert? I don't want to keep her waiting..." He said, looking at Remus.
His friend smiled at him. "You have plenty of time, don't worry." He said reassuringly.
Peter nodded, leaning back. "She hasn't finished her spaghetti yet," he informed his friends.
James ate the cupcake, smiling. After what felt like a lifetime of waiting, he stood up and walked over to her. James sat down beside her. It was a bit of a squish but he didn't mind at all; it just meant that he was closer to her. "I'm ready when you are." He said.
Lily finished her mouthful, smiling. "Okay, I'm ready." She said, picking up her bag. "How about we go to the library?" She suggested.
James nodded, smiling. "Sure, whatever you want." He said, standing.
James kept glancing at Lily as they walked to the library. He still couldn't believe that this was happening: she had agreed to do this with him. What an odd thought. James kept playing with his hair while he concentrated on making sure he didn't do anything wrong. "How are you?" He asked, looking at her.
Lily looked at him, smiling. "I'm good thanks, how are you?" She asked
James watched her hand, swaying by her side. "I'm really, really great."
She looked at him, smiling. "That's really good."
He hurried forwards and held the door open for her, smiling.
She looked up at him, smiling. "Thank you." She said as she walked through.
He followed her, grinning. "It's fine. How long are we going to be here for?"
She shrugged. "The library closes at 8:30 but I need to get in the shower first. Can we go a bit earlier, then?" She asked.
He nodded. "We can do whatever you want; I really, really don't mind." He said, smiling to her. "Like I said, I'm free for as long as you want."
She nodded. "Great. So, have you been studying a lot?" She asked, sitting at a table.
He sat down beside her and nodded. "Over an hour and a half every single day." He said, trying not to be smug. "So I must end up with eight OWLs."
She laughed. "It was nine, not eight. You can't get out of it that way!"
He laughed. "Sh- damnit!"
She laughed. "Language, Potter!" Lily said, smiling. She was already surprised by how well they were getting along. Lily got her things out of her bag, smiling. "I'm just going to get a book." She said, walking off.
James got his things out of his bag and laid them on the desk, smiling. So far, everything was going perfectly. He got the book he had used with Remus and read through it while he waited for her to come back.
James looked at Lily, smiling as he got his equipment ready. James started to write, thinking about her. He didn't know why he had been so worried about it.
They discussed the work they would be doing. They each chose a topic to research. Then, when they had done, they would teach each other what they had had learnt. James and Lily studied in silence for a bit, thinking. He felt like he had to do it all right so she wouldn't think that he was an idiot. Lily would never date an idiot; she deserved better than that. When they finished, James told Lily about all the work he had done. He tried to explain everything perfectly. He tried not to fiddle with the edge of the page or ruffle his hair but he did find it hard. He was grateful to Lily- she listened politely while he explained everything. When he was done, Lily looked impressed. She smiled and nodded, then started talking about her research. James watched her and occasionally nodded. He watched her tuck her hair behind her ear, point at the pictures or follow the words with her finger.
When she was done, Lily looked up and smiled at him, then gasped. "I was meant to go back to my dorm early!" She exclaimed.
He laughed. "Oh yeah, sorry! Will you have bough time? I forgot about that." He said, closing his book.
She nodded and started to pack away. "It might be a bit rushed but there should be. It's my own fault for not remembering."
He watched her, then quickly shoved everything into his bag. "We'll just have to walk up quickly." He said as he stood up.
They smiled and headed back upstairs, to their rooms.
James smiled as they walked into the common room. "Um, I had fun."
Lily glanced at him. "Me too, it's been nice. I'll see you tomorrow."
He nodded and watched Lily smile, then walk up to her dorm. James ruffled his hair, grinning, then headed up his stairs two at a time. James sat down on his bed and told the marauders all about it.
