Stiles and Lydia entered the school grounds holding hands. Heads turned as they stared in amazement at Lydia Martin, the most popular, prettiest girl in school, holding hands with Stiles Stilinski, a mere nobody.
It was the first day of school of their Junior year, and everyone stared like they killed someone. Lydia walked with calm and confidence, ignoring everyone who stared at the two, but in her ind she was screaming. Not that she didn't like Stiles- she loved him. She was just tired of everyone judging the two.
Stiles on the other hand, walked with a dorky grin on his face and in his mind, he was screaming with joy. He finally got with Lydia after liking her since the third grade. Him. and Lydia Martin. Together.
He looked down to gaze at her perfect face and squeezed her hand. She squeezed back, making his heart skip a beat. The two didn't dare talk about what had happened yesterday because it was too weird and creepy. Stiles knew Lydia was still shaken up, but she sure didn't show it.
Finally, Stiles couldn't stand it. When they got to her locker, he leaned against another one and asked, "You okay?"
Lydia looked up, her eyes wide and nods. She leans in and whispers, "It's scary though. The deer, I mean. It came out of nowhere."
Stiles nodded. He and Scott were coming out from the fail tattoo incident and they were right behind Lydia's car. The two cars stopped for Alison and Scott who wanted to speak to each other after their horrible breakup, but instead of that happening, a deer ran it's head into their car. Stiles and Scott ran out to get the girls and the 4 managed to calm down- for at least 5 minutes.
"But… are you going to be okay?" He asked her.
"Of course." Lydia smiled and stood on her toes to kiss him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, loving the way his body fit hers perfectly. After one last kiss, she whispered against his lips, "I'll always be okay as long as you're here." Stiles kissed her and then pulled her for a hug.
"Me too."
They pulled apart and then the two went their separate ways to class. "See you later?" Stiles asked.
"Of course." Lydia waved goodbye and was walking to her class when she saw Alison.
"Alison!" she called out.
Alison turned to see who called and then waved.
Lydia winced.
Alison looked horrible. She had bags under her eyes and her short hair was obviously not brushed at all.
"No sleep?" Lydia asks when she got there.
Alison shook her head. "None at all. I couldn't sleep without thinking about Scott and then the deer- I just want this year to be over."
Lydia smirked. "It's barely starting."
"Exactly." She sighs and then says, "I just think I need to have some closure with Scott, y'know? Talk to him about-" she abruptly stops talking and looks down the hallway. "Who's that?"
Lydia turned and caught her breath. Walking down the hallway were two really really hot guys walking together- "Twins?" Lydia gasps. Alison nods and the two girls watch the twins walk down the hallway in sync. They wore leather jackets and nice jeans that made their butt look nicer. They had these freakishly perfect faces, but Lydia couldn't help, but think, Stiles is way cuter.
She blushed when she thought that.
The guys had muscles and wore tight white V-necked shirts that showed off their abs. Lydia turned away with a flip of her hair and said,"Well, it doesn't matter because I already have Stiles. Now with Jackson out of the picture-" she stopped when she said his name and realized she hadn't struggled to say it.
"Lydia? Are you okay?"
Alison's kind voice brought a bigger smile to her face as she said, "Yeah, I'm fine! But as I was saying, now that he's out of the picture, I can finally be with Stiles and feel happy." Lydia felt a warmth in her stomach as she thought about that. The past three months during the summer had been great with Stiles, but she had difficulty saying her ex's name. Jackson moved to London though so she wouldn't be seeing his face anymore which was great.
As the twins walked by her, Lydia felt an ever stranger feeling in her stomach. She gazed at the twins and had a weird sensation that they were different. She put the thought of her mind and lifted her bag so it could fit perfectly under her arm.
"You ready?"
Alison closed her locker and nodded. "Yeah, let's go." She turned to walk to her class and walked straight into Scott McCall.
The two stared at each other and Lydia awkwardly smiled at him and then to Alison, "Are you..?"
"Yeah, Yeah I'll catch up."
Lydia smiled once more at Scott and left the two talking.
Awkward.
Lydia walked fast away from the two ex's and headed to her first period.
Finally, it was lunch and Lydia had time to spend it with Stiles. Th couple walked out into the cafeteria and held hands.
Stiles looked down at Lydia and smiled. She was so cute. He pulled her in close and kissed her forehead.
"So, do you want anything to eat?" Stiles asked.
"From the cafeteria? Ew, no."
"Then let's go somewhere?" Stiles asked, smiling at her.
Lydia looked up and leaned in close to his lips. "I would love that." She kissed him softly and he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Okay, we should probably-"
His sentence was never finished. He stared outside the windows from the cafe and squinted.
"Are those birds?"
Everybody else in the cafeteria stopped eating and were looking too.
The whole room was silent. Nobody said a word and then the first bird hit the window. Two more birds hit it right after and blood was all over the glass.
Kids backed away from the window and then everything broke.
CAW CAW!
Birds flew into the cafeteria and kids screamed as they ducked under the tables.
Stiles quickly pushed Lydia under the table and shielded her with his body. He held her hand tightly, making sure she didn't leave from under him and closed his eyes.
Lydia shut her eyes too and a single thought flitted into her mind.
It's starting.
