Episode 2 part 1/2: Adding pieces together

He'll be honest, Rush had never planned for his day to go like this.

Ever since from his last nightmare 2 weeks ago, he's been on edge. The nightmare was no other nightmare he has ever had before in his life. It was so...it felt so...real! And he was talking about real-real, not fake-real. And when he woke up, he had decided to rush in the bathroom, and splash water in his face. However, just as he was about to do so, he stopped, and noticed something, something...strange. Blood dripped from his face, well, from a thin cut on his cheek. He widened his eyes. That cut, it had looked like the very same one he had received from his fight in his dream! It sure had looked like it, ...and felt like it too. Just to make sure it had been real, the hedgehog chao had placed a paw up to his blue cheek. He hissed once sudden pain rose in his cheek. Taking his hand, the chao noticed his some of his once navy blue fur mixed with a little bit of damp red fur. He didn't need a brain to figure what it was, since he had already knew. Blood. He figured, from that day on, one thing was for sure.

He wasn't a normal chao.

True, he was known as the only chao on the island to possibly run at the speeds of 200-300 mph, but he had shrugged that little fact off in the past. He had always believed it was natural for him to run that fast, it had felt like it in the time. But...

...now he wasn't sure what to believe anymore.

So when Rush watched as a giant piece of rubble was quickly, and I mean, quickly rushing towards him in an alarming speed, he jumped right into action. With gritted teeth, and without blinking, he shot his arm quickly for Tony. Tony flinched in surprise once he felt a sudden touch on his arm. His panicked eyes quickly traveled to the cause of it, only to relax when he noticed Rush grabbing it. Before the coyote chao could even muster a word, Rush leaped back in the air, taking Tony with him. Tony yelped in surprise.

"Eep! Rush, put me down! You know I hate-!"

But he didn't finished once he heard a heavy thud. Looking down, Tony noticed the rubble was embedded deeply in the ground, making a crater. He gulped. That was exactly the place they were standing in a few seconds ago. Had they not moved a second later, they would've became the world's flattest Chao. Once Rush landed a safe distance back from the crater, he let Tony drop from his arms, quite relieved to have the extra weight off of him. When he knew he had met the ground, Tony instantly got to his knees and lowered his face to the ground. He...started to kiss it.

"Oh, Dieu merci! Sweet beloved ground, I shall never leave you again!" he said happily, still going at it. Rush rolled his eyes, secretly shooting the coyote Chao a 'really' look. He shook his head, and walked closer to the chao, ready to shake some sense into him. But before he could take one more step closer, he heard a shout.

"HELP!"

The shout, it sounded panicked, no, terrified, and desperate even, but he didn't know why, but it'd really seemed to grab his attention. Rush blinked in surprise, and quickly dashed a few feet away from Tony, hoping to get a better hearing range.

"HELP! ANYBODY!"

There it was again. And now that the hedgehog chao was closer, it did sound a little...familiar. Rush perked his ears up more, hoping to hear and recognize that cry of help. It shouldn't be too hard, since hedgehog chao were excellent in hearing, courtesy of the once Mobian hedgehog.

"PLEASE! HELP!"

At this, Rush widened his eyes in realization. He knew...he knew who's voice that was! Who it belonged to,...and fear started to grow in the pit of his stomach. Was he in danger? Was whoever planned this attack on their beloved home, brutally pounding him out of submission? If so, then Rush knew he had to get going immediately. With narrowed eyes, Rush turned sharply to Tony, who was STILL smooching the ground. He gritted his teeth in annoyance.

"Hey!" he shouted, clinching his fist. Tony instantly jumped at the harsh tone, and turned to him, no longer interested in the ground. He almost squeaked when he noticed Rush's firm expression. It wasn't normal for him to have one.

"Oui?" he asked, nervously.

"I want you to stop kissing the ground, and go find some shelter, alright? This is no time to stop and be sniffing the flowers." Rush ordered, crossing his arms. "I have a hunch of whoever is behind this act, is something we've never faced before. He or she is dangerous. Now, do I make myself clear, Tone?"

Tony eagerly nodded, hoping not to get on Rush's bad side, but also understanding. He knew this was serious, if even Rush had a bad feeling about this one. The chao then got to his feet, and gave Rush a salute.

"Oui. I shall not be failing you, Rush. Good luck and be taking care of yourself." he said, getting ready to leave.

"Oh, and also," Rush started with a small smile, "I'll make sure to find Belle and bring her back to ya, alright?" as he gave the coyote Chao a chao version of a thumbs up. (I know it sounds a little weird, but look it up. There should be some pictures of a chao or two doing one.)

That had made Tony's day, for he quickly span around and beamed at Rush. Tears had almost came to view, but he sucked it up.

"Oh mon dieu! You have no idea how happy I would be, if that happened!" he said. "I shall be waiting until then! Please make it back!"

"Will do." Rush smirked, as he took off in a great burst of speed. It wouldn't be long now until he made it to his little brother figure's destination. He just hoped he wouldn't be too late once he got there.

'Hold on, buddy, I'm coming!'

And there we go! Sorry it was a bit short, but that's all I had planned. The story will go back to the humans in the next chapter. So, until next time I guess. Seeya!
