Chapter Three: The Mom Squad in the sun

"The sun…the warmth and peace, this is truly a paradise for mothers."

Yuzuha smiled as she reclined back on the pool chair, she was sitting on. She gave a soft sigh and sat up taking off her sunglasses. "This is exactly why I deserve a break from working so hard."

"Yuzuha, you work from home a lot so why would this be a reward for working so hard when you barely work." Chiyoko pointed out and laughed as the ginger-haired woman glared at her. "Aww did I hurt your feelings?"

"Normally I'd throw something at you but I'm going to let that slide," Yuzuha smiled. "We're on a holiday where we can relax and act carefree for o-."

"Put it down!"

"I want to eat! I need to carbo load before going swimming!"

"That food is for everyone!"

Hikaru and Kaoru ran past the place where their mother was as Hikaru was busy shoveling a bunch of noodles into his mouth. "Man, these are good!"

"Hikaru put it down!" Kaoru shouted in fury as he swung his wok around. "That's not for you to eat all alone! Put it down!"

"Make me!"

Yuzuha growled and sat up as she stomped over to Hikaru and snatched the nearly empty bowl from him before she glared at Kaoru. "Boys, do you want to live to see 35?"

"Y-Y-Yes…"

"Then stop fighting over food," Yuzuha reached into her bag and pulled out a shirt. She shoved it over the two boys' heads and glared at them. "Stay in your get along shirt for twenty minutes."

"Aww but mom!"

"Don't argue with me, young men!" Yuzuha shouted and pointed them in the direction of where the other hosts were. "Go play with your friends and if you're good maybe I'll rethink about writing you two out of my will."

The twins grumbled something in unison before hobbling off.

"An oversized T-Shirt? How cute!" Suzu squealed. "I wanna get one for my Mitsu-Usa and Chka-piyo! They'll learn to get along if I do that."

"Don't forget to threaten them with punishment." Yuzuha laughed. "Anyway, now I can go back to being an awesome mom in the sun."

"She does know being an awesome mom means to get off her ass and do some parenting right?" Chiyoko asked Suzu.

Suzu giggled before she quickly rushed over to where Honey was. "Mitsukuni Haninozuka get down from there you'll get hurt!"

"But I wanna go down the big slide!" Honey cried.

"No, you're too little!" Suzu cried as she stopped in front of the slide and looked up at her son who was happily sitting atop the slide ready to go down. "Come down here now!"

"But…"

"Please sweetie," Suzu said.

"Ok, mom…"

Suzu sighed in relief before letting out a loud scream of horror as she saw Honey go down the slide. She ran to where the slide ended and waited. "Mitsukuni! Mitsukuni! Answer me! Where are you?"

Honey's laughter was heard as he was coming down the slide. When he emerged from the end of the slide he smiled brightly. "I'm here now mom."

Suzu waded through the water to where Honey was. She immediately grabbed him off the inner tube he was sitting on and pulled him into a tight hug. "Mitsukuni Haninozuka how dare you scare me like that!?"

"I'm fine mom." Honey said before seeing his mother in tears. He looked up at her and began to cry as well. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!"

"Don't do that anymore unless Takashi is with you," Suzu said. "You could've gotten hurt or flew off the slide and broke your leg."

Honey nodded and hugged his mother before he let her carry him back to the deck of the pool. He knew his mother was overprotective over him, but he didn't want to upset her anymore. He didn't like to see her cry.

"Suzu cut the apron strings and let the boy have fun!" Chiyoko called. "You don't see me babying Takaboo."

"Mom."

"What's wrong? You don't like me calling you Takaboo?" Chiyoko asked. "That's been your name since you were born. Are you ashamed of a name your own mother gave you?"

"No, I just…"

"Takaboo, you are my Takaboo. You don't have to act all tough in front of your little friends." Chiyoko said simply. "All of you young men are the best of friends, so special nicknames do not matter."

Mori sighed heavily but relented. "Ok." He glanced over and saw that the twins were both snickering. He made a note to push the two of them down one of the slides when their mothers weren't looking.

"Did you remember to put on sunscreen?" Anne-Sophie asked as she dug through her bag for a bottle of sunscreen.

"I did mom," Tamaki said with a soft smile.

"And did you remember to wash your hands before entering the pool?"

"Yes, mom."

"Maybe you shouldn't swim,"

"Mom I'm fine."

Anne-Sophie looked at Tamaki a moment. "Well did the rash on your b-."

"MOTHER!"

"Sorry dear, I'm making sure that you're ok to have fun at the water park," Anne-Sophie said with a small smile. "Is it wrong for a maman to worry about her petite colombe?"

"Maman, I'm fine," Tamaki promised. "I will swim and be sure to reapply my sunscreen when I get out of the pool."

"Good boy," Anne-Sophie said as she went to the dressing area and knocked on the door. "Oh, Kyouya dear are you done changing into the special swimsuit I bought you?"

"I'm fine De Granatine-san," Kyouya said from behind the closed door.

"Well come on out and let me see how you look," Anne-Sophie said. "I do hope that they were able to fit and weren't too small."

"I refuse to come out."

"Oh, dear do you need my help?" Anne-Sophie asked. "Please unlock the door and I'll help you."

It was silent for a moment before a sigh as heard as Kyouya opened the door. He was wearing a pair of Indigo Swim trunks that were an exact match to the ones that Tamaki was wearing. However, what annoyed him was he had a swim cap on and goggles.

"Oh, Mon petit caneton! You look so cute!" Anne-Sophie squealed. "Aww, I knew you'd look good in the same outfit as Rene! Now did you put on sunscreen?"

"Yes…"

"And did you remember to wash your hands?" Anne-Sophie asked and smiled when Kyouya nodded. "Did you eat?"

Kyouya shook his head. "No…"

"Well come on, you need to eat before you get sick," Anne-Sophie said. "Come on, I believe there are some sandwiches that will help, and you'll need to drink plenty of water too."

Kyouya sighed but didn't argue as he sent a glare at Tamaki. "I'll be fine."

Anne-Sophie turned and stared at Kyouya. "But I prepared Tomato Brie Basil Sandwiches for you and Rene, as I do not want you two to stuff yourselves full of junk food."

"Tamaki's eating ice cream," Kyouya said with a smirk.

Anne-Sophie whirled around and saw Tamaki was buying an ice cream cone. She walked over to him and took it away from him while grabbing him by the ear and walking back to where she left Kyouya all the while lecturing him in French.

"Maman, I want ice cream, it's a commoner's delight."

"Rene Tamaki Richard de Granatine Suoh, you know better than to eat ice cream before lunch, you'll spoil your appetite and I did not spend hours making you a special picnic lunch."

"Mom you didn't have to do that," Tamaki said. "Kaoru always makes…"

"I do not care, you can eat whatever dear Kaoru has made but you'll also be eating the food I brought as well," Anne-Sophie said. "Just because you lived on your own here in Japan for 3 months does not mean you're an adult."

Tamaki sighed but didn't complain as he was led to where Kyouya was sitting. He sent a glare at his best friend before he looked down at the sandwich placed in front of him.

"Have a good lunch you two and remember do not swim for 15 minutes." Anne-Sophie walked to the pool with her bag and pulled out a small kit from it as she began checking the water's PH balance.

Haruhi watched quietly and held back a small laugh at the sight of the hosts being lectured by their mothers in the case of the twins trying to escape their "get along" shirt. She had to admit it was nice to finally see how the hosts interreacted with their mothers but at the same time she kind of felt out of place without a mother to fuss and fret over her.

"Haruuuuuuhiiii!"

"Damn it…"

Haruhi turned around and saw Ranka walking towards her. She felt grateful that her father had chosen to wear one of his sundresses rather than a swimsuit.

"Dad, what are you doing here?"

"Why I'm here for the outing," Ranka said brightly. "I'm glad I was invited by Yuzuha, I also found your beach bag sitting on the table in the living room."

"I left it here for a reason," Haruhi mumbled.

"Come on now Haru don't be shy to put on your swimsuit," Ranka said brightly. "You'll pass out if you stay in that hoodie and shorts."

"I'm fine dad."

"Haru, please? I think you'll be comfortable."

"NO!"

It seemed like time stopped and all Haruhi saw was that all the hosts' mothers weren't fretting over them. As she turned around, she saw all four of the women glaring down at her with looks that could strike her down instantly.

"Haruhi dear do as your father says," Anne-Sophie said gently.

"Then again talking back to him is also not a good thing," Yuzuha noted. "I do wonder if maybe a punishment is in order?"

"Children that talk back to their fathers do not get cake," Suzu said simply. "Or ice cream."

"Maybe taking you to a scared straight program would the way to go," Chiyoko said. "Why Ranka do you mind if I take Haruhi this Sunday? So, she can learn respect?"

"Oh no no it's ok," Ranka insisted. "Haruhi's just going through a rebellious phase is all."

"Dad I am not going thro-." Haruhi went silent when she could see all of them glaring at her. She could've sworn she saw a brown-haired woman in white behind them glaring as well. She took the bag from her rather wordlessly and walked to the dressing room to change.

"Oh, and Haruhi please be sure to put on sunscreen!" Anne-Sophie called after the girl.

"Your moms are scary," Haruhi grumbled as she sent a glare at the hosts' once she was changed into her swimsuit. She hated wearing the girly thing, it was too pink for her liking and she much rather had stayed in her shorts and hoodie.

"Our moms just look out for us," Honey said. "And I don't like making my mom cry, it makes me sad."

"I rather not have our mom send us to boarding school," Hikaru said.

"You mean, she'd send you," Kaoru added. "But our mom tends to be relaxed when she isn't in mom mode, you just get used to it after a while."

"My maman isn't that bad," Tamaki said. "She wants me to eat healthily and she's taken to making sure that she takes care of Kyouya too."

"It takes some getting used to," Kyouya admitted. "I do happen to like having a mother figure around to make sure I eat."

"They mean well," Mori said with a small smile.

Haruhi shook her head. "I guess I will admit it is nice to be fussed over by a mom." She said softly as she felt a twinge of sadness in her heart.

"Haru-chan don't be sad!" Honey said. "We'll share our moms with you! My mom would love to feed you cake and she'll make you an Usa-Chan too! She learned from granny!"

"You want our mom? You can have her." Hikaru said shaking his head. "She obviously favors Kaoru over me."

"Mom likes you better." Kaoru hissed. "You're her little Hikabomb."

"No, you're her little Kaopri." Hikaru shoved Kaoru with his shoulder. "You're her favorite."

"No, you are!"

"No, you are!"

The twins began to argue and fight as they knocked over the large picnic table they were sitting at. The food and other things were sent flying to the floor as the other hosts were knocked out of their seats.

"Hikaru Hitachiin! Kaoru Hitachiin!" Yuzuha shouted in fury stomping over to her two sons. She grabbed them both and glared daggers at them. "Three words."

"Get along shirt?"

"You're Grounded!"

"That's two words actually."

"For three weeks!" Yuzuha shouted. "Are those three words now Hikaru?"

"But mom!"

"Do you want to make it a month?" Yuzuha asked. "And just so you know I'm serious You're not allowed to play any of your games for those three weeks. I'm going to tell your father to hide the controllers too."

"But why do I get three weeks too?!" Kaoru cried. "I wasn't a smart aleck!"

"Because you were fighting too and you two need to spend some time learning what it means to be brothers," Yuzuha said. "I'm tired of you two fighting all the time over the tiniest of things."

"We were fighting over who your favorite son is." Kaoru said.

"I see," Yuzuha smiled softly. "My favorite child is…neither of you."

"WHAT?!"

"Mothers don't have favorites," Yuzuha said simply. "Hikaru and Kaoru I love you both equally even when you two are acting like feuding hamsters. Now go put your get along shirt on and keep it on for the remainder of the day."

"But…"

"Yes, mom." Kaoru glared at Hikaru as he dragged his brother by the wrist to go find their get along shirt.

"Oh, dear now the food is all ruined," Anne-Sophie said with a small shake of her head. "What will the kids eat now?"

"I have an idea," Chiyoko said with a smile holding up her car keys and pointed to the entrance of the water park. "Everyone pile into the minivan! We're going to get food!"

Everyone followed Chiyoko's orders and went to go leave the water park on the quest for food. It is said that day the host club got their first taste of fast food in the form of McDonald's.
